I love those super bright purple stars that have 12-18 base energy output, or even better a star that gets TRADE VALUE for some reason. The scientist sacrificed for additional 50 research output in science nexus is ALWAYS somebody in your council with priority to research minister. You can hire new scientist right after nexus event started, assign they to the council position and unassign every other scientists. Now you know who will be sacrificed and you can have BOTH juicy 50 output and all of your high level scientists.
Generally I'd also take any free science, but unless you cheese it like you describe it's just not worth it any more. An experienced Head of Research is so much more valuable than 50 free science per month
In my current game the chosen scientist was my head of research, who was not only a level 10 immortal (through events) scientist, but also the original ruler of my empire without ANY negative traits that affected him as council member. Really not worth it.
I put both the Arc Furnace *and* Dyson Swarm in the S tier, for two crucial reasons: you can roll the techs early, and they don't require Mega Engineering. A well-placed Dyson Swarm can fully power a pre-midgame tall Empire, and a well-placed Arc Furnace can likewise fund your planetary construction and fleet-building. The sheer potential granted from reliably balancing your economy this early is enormous. Not to mention the shenanigans you can pull with a Dyson Swarm around certain special stars...
Dyson Swarms also boost ALL of the output of the star they were placed on. I've placed them on stars with anomalies which gave them strategic resource deposits and reaped the rewards. Or you could use it to get a ton of Physics research, which is already the easiest research type to get in this game.
Note the arc furnace only boost resources that are _mined_, I tried placing it in some dark matter system to farm dark matter and it wouldn’t work because those are research stations. Otherwise putting it in the crystal hive or ancient mining drone home system is pretty op.
I have I screenshot saved of a 125 Energy Credit and 91 Volatile mote star in a game I played recently. Never needed to even think about touching a planet-side Mote building or Dust Caverns.
If you roll the Contingency crisis and defeat Sterilization Hub 01 the relic allows +1 addition of each megastructure type and 300% build speed. But the game is probably near the end at this point.
Research cooperative’s biggest W is you get the +25% speed bonus from federation-mates even for repeatables. If one of your mates has researched level 1 of some repeatable, you get the 25% even for level n. And I believe this stacks for multiple federation members as well? Real easy way to rush 25 crisis
Building a habitat on top of an Arc Furnace gives you the maximum amount of mining districts available on habitats. Really nice way of getting those minerals if you havent had luck with your planet side deposits. in my current game i have constructed a dyson swarm around the crystal in the middle of the galaxy for a good amount of astral threads.
If you roll the Cybrex precursor, the arc furnace is even better by building a Cybrex Mining Hub in the star base to further boost all mining station output by another 100%
You fix the problems with the mega shipyard by having all your shipyards in the same system as the mega shipyard and making sure you have the infrastructure in place, gates or hyper relays, to move fleets around your empire fast.
You can micromanage but the fleet build system will still build 20 ships on the 1-shipyard station rather than mostly queue them up on the mega shipyard.
Something to note about the Quantum Catapult: there's actually nothing blocking you from building it in binary/trinary systems, so it's a bit easier to find a place to make it. Whatever check exists for Mega Shipyards and Dyson Spheres just isn't applied.

You CAN build a quantum catapult in a binary and trinary system. If you have the astral planes you can also get the tech early and build it up to level 2, but you will need mega engineering for level 3.
I believe that the Art Installation is actually a solid C tier. It is pretty good for outsourcing unity production, I build it every time just because making unity from trade is not always an option, or not always THE BEST option.
The odd thing with the Interstellar Assembly is that it makes your relationship with Fallen Empires very high, so they are more likely to randomly give you gifts.
I found your channel yesterday and I wanted to watch your Megastructure tier list but I noticed it was two years old. Insane coincidence that this just came out.
Another benefit of the Arc Furnace is that if you go down the Nanite ascension path and add the appropriate starbase building to the system, it will immediately add nanite production to all of the system's pre-existing mines. This lets you take immediate advantage of all the special nanite-powered buildings the path provides while you work on subsuming worlds.
Bit surprised to see the Art Installation in F tier. With how important Unity is nowadays, why wouldn't you want a jobless 400 unity per month to help with all those edicts/planet ascensions? Or are unity planets just massively superior to it? Not sure how many of those I should have in an empire. 1 in ten? 1 in 20?
F tier doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, just that it's trash compared to the others. The issue with the Mega Art isn't that 400 unity a month is bad, it's that it's 400 unity a month at a time when you've usually already finished your tradition trees is too late to cause a power swing. Most megastructures represent a significant shift to the balance of power if you get them first, Mega Art is more...a nice thing to build as a flex...than your absolute priority to rush out - an extra 400 unity a month is nice, but it's not tipping the scales massively in your favour as soon as you get it.
Honestly, with the changes to strategic resources (and the addition of Arc Furnaces), I find I have less need to build Matter Decompressors now because I have plenty of miners well into the late game, digging up those crystals/motes/gases
I disagree when you say such and such bonus can be acquired in another way. Getting a bonus from some source (such as +40% diplo weight) allows you to either get it without having it elsewhere or double down on the bonus. You often talk about other ways to obtain a certain bonus (in this video or others) but that's not a very good way to look at it in my opinion. To each their own i suppose. Anyway i may be complaining but i like listening to your videos. :)
The bonuses are additive. So e.g. next tech comes in 100 months, and then you get a +15% bonus. If you started with 0 bonus then the next tech is now coming in 87 months. Great! But if you already had +100% bonus, then now the next tech is coming in 93 months. Only half the benefit. Still nice, but only half as nice, and the same opportunity cost (you could have built a different megastructure, or a fleet).
@@benoithudson7235 You still want all those bonuses. I won't stop myself from taking intelligent on my main species because i also take technological ascendancy. I'm not arguing against taking the most valuable bonus first i'm saying i disagree with how it is presented. Also some bonuses do scale very well, such as empire size reduction from pop, the more reduction you have the more valuable the next one is. So if you take the -10% from domination you should take the -10% from harmony too, because they are the same bonus doesn't make it a choice where you can only take one. It's when he says things like 'this bonus to ship build speed is not great because you can have it somewhere else' that annoys me, i want to double and triple down on good bonuses.
@@Nartanek Sad that you can't have benefits of diplo weight above "i am the senate" point and if you wana this point you can achieve it without megastructure for it.
Worth mentioning is that Quantum Catapultd have no build limit. If catapulting too far is a problem, then you can mitigate that issue by building them at as many stars as possible, letting you leapfrog across shorter distances, or even better is if you have a gateway network between each catapult. 1 catapult in your entire empire is obviously bad.
I once got an event from storm that added an alloy deposit on a star, and after building a fully upgraded dyson swarmed this star produced like 156 alloys per month
Near the end of the game, I took on one of the fallen empires. It wasn't until I attacked their home system that I noticed they had a synaptic lathe. One of the options was "Rescue everyone!" Running an empire that uses involuntary interns, it was a great boost to my workforce. So many free interns!
Im curious why a Sentry array is gonna cause lag, because logically, the game is still processing the ships and pops of the other empires, regardless if you can see them or not.
Basically because they go from being a value in the background to an object that has to be rendered out. They have improved it but it's notorious for lag and multiplayer desynch. In our play group I was straight up banned from building it when it was at its worst because it would absolutely destroy our game with desynch. You take psychic damage for delving too deeply into knowledge.
23:40 Another thing to note is that as long as you have equal to or less than 40 pops on the lathe, it won't purge, so you *can* get away with it by not cramming your lathe. Also, mmm, lathe
And to make the Arc Furnace SS Tier, you have to have the Cybrex Precursor double what it gives once fully completed or even take it to 150% extra with the Ascension Perk. DEAR GOD is it Beautful Seeing a System after the Arc Funace Bonus, The Cybrex Mining Hub Bonus, and any technology Bonuses boost Mineral Output to over 400 and Alloy Production into the 200s. And is even better if you can find a nearby ruined Arc Furnace so that way after you build your max limit you can add one more for even crazier numbers. And Pro Tip: Sol System is the BEST system for an Arc Furnace as far as starting systems go. It is Guaranteed to be 20+ Deposits.
Xenos also tend to create their limit of Arc Furnaces, and capturing theirs with Cybrex Precursor is awesome. Midgame 1000+ alloys with virtually no planet-side alloy production is a great way to keep your pops engaged in unity and science while fielding a dominating fleet.
@@chuckfreisinger1508 While true, I have unfortunately found they just tend to build them in just any random system they can and aren't really optimal. Like I took over one empire because they had stuff I wanted in their Borders, like the Shattered Ring Origin Pre-FTL and the Sanctuary Ringworld, and they had two arc furnaces in systems that combined made up I think 16 total deposits.
Like all of life, it's a compromise between this being free content Montu produces as a job at no cost to you and hero wars wanting an annoying advert to cover that cost. What DOES annoy me is that cable/satellite charges you to watch it and then shows you 30%+ of your view time as adverts who have also paid them.
Honestly I hate that you can only build one of each in Vanilla. Then again since I play with Gigastructural Engineering I always have that little Panic in the back of my mind. About making sure I am ready for the Aeternum and the Blokkats. And spamming Dyson Sphere, Science Nexus and Matrioshka Brains is a must in those runs.
God I love that mod so much. Only reason I play vanilla is to get the stupid acheivements, but gigastructural (and a couple of expanded traditions/slots for ascencion perks) makes every game feel a lot more vibrant and difficult.
Just lost an ironman playthrough where i had all crisis on and Cetana showed up first. When i was ready to strike at her home system i found out her mothership actually wasn't there and was instead probably roaming around somewhere and i didn't have enough intel to track her down in the huge sized galaxy before the clock ran out. Sentry array probably would have saved my ass 😣
I remember a play through where a space storm caused an event to fire on a star, giving it a rather large alloys deposit. First thing I did was build a Dyson Swarm, fully upgraded it was giving me something like 250 alloys. Never had such good fortune before, or since. It allowed me to build up bigger fleets much earlier. So I very highly rate the Dyson Swarm.
9:25 yeah I had that problem yesterday, had the predecessors for that double shipyard thing and then it wanted to build everyone in my jaggernaut, i was confused and upset. 10:20 nice mention would be, that you can build up to 5 with the tech.
Why Synaptic Lathe is so high??? It's not worth it in my opinion. By the time you have it, you can build Ring worlds. Those pops on the fully ascended ring world will output same numbers of research. Pops are king in this game, purging is counterproductive. Even necropurge, after they nerfed it, is not that great at the moment.
Yeah but now you can use conquered pops that would just be annoying, to actually be useful. Even better that the purging type let‘s you depopulate planets without spending the influence
+80% Fleet Cap with the two buildings on a "stable" lathe is my main reason. That's a fantastic bonus and it's stable, no purging up to 40 pops. My Spiritualists in the current playthru just threw slaves and robots into it until I hit 40, then I left it.
@BARBARBINKLE that output is not sustainable. You need to constantly feed pops to it to have good output. Also you need to research buildins for Lathe. It's barely earlier than megaengineering. Yes Ring will be later, but not by much. Lathe is good to get advanced logic fast and finish cosmogenesys to win the game, ignoring all of it's bonuses (FE buildings and ships). But you are in a constant spiral and pretty easy to kill, it's all in risky strategy.
Off topic, things I want paradox to change/fix. Allow all empires to integrate hive mind pops. Don't lock it behind an ascension path instead make it a technology. Allow us more diplomatic options, let us join ongoing wars, apply pressure to a federation member to allow another empire to join etc. Stop vassals from breaking free without notice because they had an internal revolt and got replaced by a 'new empire' that you 'just met' and have no intel on. If an AI empire agrees to form a federation with you, force them to send an official to increase cohesion.
I will say, one... Interesting thing with the Lathe, if you get it running early enough, can be that the scaling energy costs can actually prove a higher stress than its population consumption for some empire set ups. Had a goofy Natural Design/Weeds build that could feed it just with my own pop growth (more or less), and it was more the "If I keep putting people in here my credits go to -200 or worse per month" that kept me from going completely nuts there.
I wish there was a different icon for the “minor” Megastructures, like the Dyson Swarm or the Grand Archive. Looking at another empire becomes tedious when there are a dozen of these icons on there that are primarily Arc Reactors or Swarms.
Loving the Tier lists Montu, but where is the Gestalt civics tier list you told us was coming 9 months ago? In all seriousness though, I appreciate all the work you put into these. Helping me get the maximum enjoyment out of the game!
My favourite part of the Lathe is simply making a Stable one (40 pops) and two of the buildings which give 1% Fleet Cap per pop. You can build 2 of them so that's +80% fleet cap for 40 pops. And no Purging or massively flucuating energy costs, it just sits there with a fixed cost and gives you +80% fleet cap. Doesn't matter where the base cap comes from (megastructures, research, branch offices, army worlds or starbase modules+building) it's boosted by 80%.
Idk about anyone else but one of my favourite strats when it comes to ring worlds is to finish them, then immediately invade a fallen empire and resettle pops to fill up those special jobs as fallen empire worlds tend to have a large number of unemployed pops.
Eve thought about making a 3.14 guide (just a general updated strategy video) about Rushing your first few enemies to when playing as a Fanatic Purifier?
I would bump the catapult to B if you pair it with gateways, build a gateway in an system next to the catapult, launch your fleets at it, use the gateway to get your powered fleets where you need them
Been enjoying watching your videos to get back into the game after a long break and already one of my scientists became immortal. I basically got a god emperor for the 1st time without tech, origin, or whatever other ways exist through RNG, stellaris never fails to surprise me
I completely disagree with the qantum catapult because you can make single powerful fleets with jump drives and use them in hit and run actions You can also use it defensive wenn you have multiple defensive positions you can defend all of them with only half of the fleet size if you plan a bit into the future (in my opinion a A tier structure)
Well, Montu's Multiplayer Madness always loves someone doing the unexpected. You should sign up and show off the strat - if it's unexpectedly good you've got a decent chance at winning the viewers choice pot and if it's REALLY good you might get the first place pot too.
Me, whe plays with Acot, Gigastructural engineering, hyperquasaric megaconstruction, AoT, and DoA: these are all weak except ring world and dyson sphere. And i suppose dyson swarms as well
idk I would definitely put the sentry array higher especially when playing games in multiplayer because it tells me where every fleet in the galaxy is at all times. Being able to see a hostile strike force coming possibly years in advance is super useful. It provides a benefit that you can't really get by normal means and is why I would place it higher then dyson spheres and matter decompressors because by the time I can build either of them I generally don't need any more basic resources as I am perma capped on them.
I really love the flavor of the Galactic Assembly. If it gave bonuses to the galactic community, such as shorter time between votes and discounts to the owner's influence cost in the galactic senate, would it possibly be viable?
6:30 I’m curious as to why you put the Sentry Array at F Tier. Not that I necessarily disagree, I’m just curious as to the exact reasons, because you only really mentioned the effects and the positives, with a couple small negatives as well. Why exactly is it down there?
The lag is, as mentioned, the thing that puts a lot of people off in a game where the late game is incredibly laggy even when you literally design your run around reducing lag. Beyond that, with sensor agreements and the accumulation of boosts to sensor range, you can usually see about 70%+ of the galaxy anyway. It obviously has massive advantages at looking deep into hostile territory, but with the build limit and the amount of time they take to complete, do you want to be building a sentry array before many other megastructures? On a war footing I'd take it over the art installation, sure, but I still think I'd want a Matter Decompressor, Dyson Sphere, Mega Shipyard and Strategic Co-ordination Centre before a sentry array even if I was explicitly fighting a lot - the boost they give to your abilities to field a strong fleet are far more important, imo, than being able to watch an enemy fleet you don't have the economy/build speed to counter.
It is one of my greatest frustrations to this day that there is nothing in game saying how you're supposed to even use the quantum catapult. I've built them many times and as far as I'm concerned they're just in the game for victory score, because I've never been able to use one after completion.
It belongs in S tier IMO. If you're playing tall then you can just make energy from ring worlds, and strategic resources from habitats. You generally won't have enough minerals to keep up with refinery and forge worlds, so the matter decompressor is very nice to have.
Could you do a guide of the research tree and what lesser technologies you need for higher technologies? I always seem to get the planet rings very late, as well as a couple other technologies late as well.
This is less of a absolute tier list and more of an oportunity cost tier list because you still want that mega art instalation, but if you have better options to build new megastructures you wanna do those of course.
@ErzengelDesLichtes the wonder sphere doesnt give you power. you'd actually be losing power the wonder sphere is a special upgrade that can happen if you have a completed sphere before the end of the kaleidoscope event. it gives 500 unity and +30% amenities but you lose the energy credit output and (if its from a dyson sphere you built) you still cant build a second dyson sphere so you'd have to capture one or find and repair a ruined one to get a replacement. you also lose the chance to get the kaleidoscope relic if you build the wonder sphere. so im curious if its actually worth it. (also, once a swarm is upgraded to a sphere it does not count as a swarm anymore and you should lose the benefits but should also be able to build another swarm.. it might be bugged though as i have seen it retain the swarm output when becoming a sphere)
In my current playthrough I have two ruined ring worlds that I've found. One from the Cyberex precursor and one with primitives. Will that stop me from building one of my own?
get the centre of the galaxy system through astral actions, occupy it, build quantum catapult there. bam, you can instantly invade anywhere in the galaxy :D
Putting the mega shipyard in C just hurts me, That thing is brilliant for recouping fleets stupidly fast have that in a system with a maxed station with 6 shipyards and thats 26 ships a go perfect for any issues that arise. And in PVP they just make you king of the server if you set 2 up as they cant kill the ships fast enough if you have a good alloy income.
I don't really count the Arc Furnace and swarms here. Mostly because they always are built for me as a matter of course, are always worth it, and don't take limited slots to build.
Hey, I thought that we agreed may\ that Orbital Rings, Habitats, Dyson Swarms, Arc Furnaces, Grand Archive, Fortress Platforms (hey, remember those?), L-gates, Gateways, Hyper-Relays, and other structures that don't require the Mega Engineering Technology were "kilostructures", even if that is mostly not actually described in the game outside of something like Gigastructural Engineering mod. It seems like this should be a separate "section" though - either a chapter in the video, separated like Negative and Positive and Ascension traits, or it's own video entirely? Good though to separate Orbital Rings + Habitats + transportation structures *AND* mentioning the ones that don't require Mega Auxillary, though; it's just not consistent. Also, aren't crisis-specific mega structures GG tier? (ah, Stefan Anon). Also, does it still as "the negative malice modifier" count purging your own pops like clones? The AI empires seemed to mind that a lot more than just getting rid of pre-virtual robots of my primary species. Does the Zroni Precursor even work if your enemies installed any of the Storm-shielding technologies for their ships defenses & ship weapons; if you have cosmic storms enabled? I've tried Unyielding + Zroni Precursor + Bulwark Vassal Holding Building + Strategic Coordination Center + filling it with defense platforms with neutron launchers and strike craft and other things and it still seemed a bit of weak. Dyson spheres are HARD power, like nuclear :P. Trade and vassals is more like green energy...flexible, localized, scalable, but highly variable.
Also, you mentioned Galactic Wonders ascension perk - it might also be a good idea to note the DLC gating of megastructures (it's not all in Utopia) and, in this case, Relic and Arcology worlds (I think Relics worlds are from Distant Stars or one of the story packs, and the Arcology project for ecu is Mega Corporations). Most is in Utopia, but: Hyper Relays and Orbitals were in Overlord; Nemesis had Crisis Destroy, Machine Age had Crisis Science. I'm pretty sure Federation also plays into Titans/Juggernauts and then Colossi are Apopcalyse, which doesn't directly affect things except the Megashipyard. I'm not sure if Stellaris is sold with a starter pack type thing including Utopia any longer, like I think it was with two other expansions, and I know Cities: Skylines was sold with Mass Transit and After Dark as one of the main offers. THEN you can also reference your DLC tier list / buyde at the end of the video :Dideo :D
I turtled up with my psionic empire, my one way in to the empire had a 1 million fleet power blockade just in defense platforms. (without the megastructure). Completing that one will push it up it further. (1.5m or so.) Kind of disgusting with just how tanky you can get your defenses up right now.
How did you manage to accomplish that? Multiple planets with defensive orbital rings? How did you end up building out the Starbase and Defense Platforms?
@@blam320 strike craft give a higher fleet power than missile or gunner modules. Slap Two of them on defense platforms, 6 on a star base, 4 on an orbital ring. ; ) Make that a choke point system. If you're a psionic empire they should be using your psionic shields (since they are the superior shield type.) Focus repeating tech in shield strength, strike craft attack speed, park your juggernaught there (with nothing but psionic shields and 4 shield hardening - the advanced one's with 25%, making 100%.) This'll tend to force the AI to not attack that area, players'll will certainly build for point defense, but that's a work around to counter that one. ; )
@@blam320 That will tend to prioritize balancing researching, so it slows down the research from getting shields up (slowing down fleet power, since it'll boost up economy tech as well.) AI doesn't know how to balance tech and all, still kind of bad at it, lawls. Even the best AI modifiers, unless you're using mods from the workshop, tend to be trash (even the highest difficulty.)
Hello! I've learned a lot with your videos. Many thanks and my honest respect to you good sir. I have one question about Sentry array. I've experienced that problem with slowing the game, sometimes it'd unbearable. But I've noticed that these megastructures can't be destroyed. Is there any way to dispose of them? And when your vasal have this megastructure, is there any way to make it deactivated for you? Thank you very much. Have a good day sir.
Try ranking Gigastructure stuff. That should be fun XD. And if you disable planetcraft and systemcraft, its more or less tech 6 and 7 stuff for vainlla.
I just thought about something amazing I don't know if it's possible, but could we lease systems so one empire could be specialized in making these structures. Probably help with the AI never willing to trade their systems.
Maybe someone can help me. I dont think that im that unlucky but my scientists lv 6/7/7 all without any relevant negative traits failed 8 dig sides in a row in second stage ( only one had a higher difficulty). I dont dare to touch any more dig sites. Any ideas? A silly Bug?
Federation members have their energy output reduced by 15% - you don't notice it on your stars with 1 - 3 energy because 15% isn't even enough to round down, but damn do you notice it on 4K.
.5 seconds into the video and I'm gonna say synaptic lathe. Put 40 pops in (so that there is no decay), max ascension and put in the synaptic over clocker, reactor, and the stability building. Gets almost 3k research. mmmm
i think the only megastructure that should be in F tier is the interstellar assembly and even then i really like the assembly aswell also you already know i always build the sensory array first, now i revoke my previous statement and say the quantum catapult should go in F tier i hate it with a passion and the mega shipyard should go atleast up a tier, B tier is good besides maybe the science nexus up a tier but also maybe not, im definitely bias but i would definitely want the grand archive to be S tier, i suppose they are honorable mentions for a reason because they aren't megastructures but Kilostrcutures however that doesn't change the fact im on team gateway all the way, synaptic-laythe is fine where it is but the Arc furnace should probably go in A tier.
The solution for the final phase of the Science Nexus would be turning the sacrificed scientist's perks into the perks provided by the final stage. This would mean the brain upload would indirectly be equal to a second Head of Research council slot or better depending on who is uploaded.

@@R0ssMM as I said you can force game to take freshly hired low experienced head of research you hire only as a sacrificial lamb.

Freeing up all the pops and districts those resources would otherwise require is ALWAYS worth it
Its also double S tier on the arc welders origin my god that origin is so insane lmao.
Dyson Swarms also boost ALL of the output of the star they were placed on. I've placed them on stars with anomalies which gave them strategic resource deposits and reaped the rewards. Or you could use it to get a ton of Physics research, which is already the easiest research type to get in this game.
Arc Furnence boost strategic and every other autput, that is mined. So i've got 9 molts, 3 gasys and 6 crystals from one system.
Note the arc furnace only boost resources that are _mined_, I tried placing it in some dark matter system to farm dark matter and it wouldn’t work because those are research stations.
Otherwise putting it in the crystal hive or ancient mining drone home system is pretty op.
I never knew I wanted to hear Montu say, "Cowabunga" until now. Not sure how I lived all my years without that experience.

Art installation as gestalts is low A just because of pop efficiency with amenities (I don’t have latest DLC)
The best mega structure is 10 strategic coordination centers, build one yourself and take more from other empires, the effects stack
i do that with the shipyard, battleships taking like 20 days is great
or you can just disable the limit using the gigastructures mod.
@@bizmasterTheSlav yeah but not everyone wants to (or can) use mods lol
Can you give one to a vasal then "take" it back?
@HaloDude557 you can't, sadly. the game doesn't keep track of if you *have* one, it checks if you have *built* one.
The odd thing with the Interstellar Assembly is that it makes your relationship with Fallen Empires very high, so they are more likely to randomly give you gifts.
Not only that, the Interstellar Assembly makes it possible to take systems bordering Xenophobic Fallen Empires without them declaring war against you
I found your channel yesterday and I wanted to watch your Megastructure tier list but I noticed it was two years old. Insane coincidence that this just came out.
Welcome aboard!
Really pleased to see the older tier lists redone for the current meta!
I just love the spy orb for being able to see where is who and what...
Honestly i like mega shipyards. They allow me to have other starbases focus or trade hubs and anchorages
Yeah same. I like having 1 central fleet construction area. I noticed that the fleet construction system goofs up a lot less frequently this way.
@@RelativisticVelocity Mega Shipyards don't reduce ship upkeep like normal starbases with Crew Quarters do, though.
How do trade hubs work?
@@Nartanek : if bonuses were free then yes, you would want them. As soon as bonuses aren't free, then you have a cost/benefit to analyze.
7:20 yes, you actually can built the catapult on binary neutron or pulsar stars, I've done it many times.
Near the end of the game, I took on one of the fallen empires. It wasn't until I attacked their home system that I noticed they had a synaptic lathe. One of the options was "Rescue everyone!" Running an empire that uses involuntary interns, it was a great boost to my workforce. So many free interns!
Building a dyson sphere around a green big toxic god star makes it looks like a marsh gas power generator
Powered by farts
Im curious why a Sentry array is gonna cause lag, because logically, the game is still processing the ships and pops of the other empires, regardless if you can see them or not.
probably because it now has to draw everything on display
God I fucking hate Hero Wars adverts
Paragons tier list, Montu senpai! ❤
I set up my empire build so I can put in the megashipyard in the (Ringworld) capital... but now it's blocked by the Galactic Archive...
Yesss more tier list video for 3.14, hope you release relic tier list soon
I laugh at the limits on megastructures as I play with mods that turn them off
Eve thought about making a 3.14 guide (just a general updated strategy video) about Rushing your first few enemies to when playing as a Fanatic Purifier?
I would bump the catapult to B if you pair it with gateways, build a gateway in an system next to the catapult, launch your fleets at it, use the gateway to get your powered fleets where you need them
Been enjoying watching your videos to get back into the game after a long break and already one of my scientists became immortal. I basically got a god emperor for the 1st time without tech, origin, or whatever other ways exist through RNG, stellaris never fails to surprise me
I completely disagree with the qantum catapult because you can make single powerful fleets with jump drives and use them in hit and run actions
You can also use it defensive wenn you have multiple defensive positions you can defend all of them with only half of the fleet size if you plan a bit into the future
(in my opinion a A tier structure)
Well, Montu's Multiplayer Madness always loves someone doing the unexpected. You should sign up and show off the strat - if it's unexpectedly good you've got a decent chance at winning the viewers choice pot and if it's REALLY good you might get the first place pot too.
Me, whe plays with Acot, Gigastructural engineering, hyperquasaric megaconstruction, AoT, and DoA: these are all weak except ring world and dyson sphere. And i suppose dyson swarms as well
any pops 40 and under don't get purged. and that can push out 3k total science if fully ascended, so thats like a bunch of science nexuses
idk I would definitely put the sentry array higher especially when playing games in multiplayer because it tells me where every fleet in the galaxy is at all times.
Gonna link this vid in my next build.
“What’s the matter decompressor?”
Nothing’s the matter, Fry! Now that I’ve turbocharged the empire’s matter decompressor!
6:30 I’m curious as to why you put the Sentry Array at F Tier. Not that I necessarily disagree, I’m just curious as to the exact reasons, because you only really mentioned the effects and the positives, with a couple small negatives as well. Why exactly is it down there?
I like to use to use it to see any leviathans left at that point and kill them myself
I love the sentry array. It comes with nothing but benefits, except for one teeny tiny itsy bitsy downside
LAG
The positives it gives are a lot less than items further up. Plus it apparently lags the game (which isn't great).
Simple: Opportunity cost. With espionage, you can get the same effects without building it once you have enough envoys up and running.
Matter decompressor doesnt belong at A tier. Its way worse than the dyson sphere. B tier at best.
Time for an update that massively overhauls megastructures!
ok question; is it worth upgrading your dyson sphere into a wonder sphere if given the chance?
@ErzengelDesLichtes the wonder sphere doesnt give you power. you'd actually be losing power
the wonder sphere is a special upgrade that can happen if you have a completed sphere before the end of the kaleidoscope event. it gives 500 unity and +30% amenities but you lose the energy credit output and (if its from a dyson sphere you built) you still cant build a second dyson sphere so you'd have to capture one or find and repair a ruined one to get a replacement. you also lose the chance to get the kaleidoscope relic if you build the wonder sphere. so im curious if its actually worth it.
(also, once a swarm is upgraded to a sphere it does not count as a swarm anymore and you should lose the benefits but should also be able to build another swarm.. it might be bugged though as i have seen it retain the swarm output when becoming a sphere)
Who needs those tiny little megastructures when you can have gigastructures instead
Megaship yard always has a place in my heart 🙏🙏
Putting the mega shipyard in C just hurts me, That thing is brilliant for recouping fleets stupidly fast have that in a system with a maxed station with 6 shipyards and thats 26 ships a go perfect for any issues that arise. And in PVP they just make you king of the server if you set 2 up as they cant kill the ships fast enough if you have a good alloy income.
Haven't had a pc to play stellaris since apocalypse came out.
I can finally rejoin the pc ranks...
I never noticed the fauna stop spawning because sentry array is always my second build after science nexus
Also, you mentioned Galactic Wonders ascension perk - it might also be a good idea to note the DLC gating of megastructures (it's not all in Utopia) and, in this case, Relic and Arcology worlds (I think Relics worlds are from Distant Stars or one of the story packs, and the Arcology project for ecu is Mega Corporations). Most is in Utopia, but: Hyper Relays and Orbitals were in Overlord;
Nemesis had Crisis Destroy, Machine Age had Crisis Science.
(1.5m or so.)
Kind of disgusting with just how tanky you can get your defenses up right now.
If you're a psionic empire they should be using your psionic shields (since they are the superior shield type.)
Focus repeating tech in shield strength, strike craft attack speed, park your juggernaught there (with nothing but psionic shields and 4 shield hardening - the advanced one's with 25%, making 100%.) This'll tend to force the AI to not attack that area, players'll will certainly build for point defense, but that's a work around to counter that one. ; )
@@StylesEste Already knew about the trick with strike craft. I guess my thing is by the time I’ve hit repeatables I just set things to auto research.

About Sentry Array. I'm not sure about fauna spawning only in low-intel systems after Grand Archive.
Uh? What do you mean you can only have 3 dyson swarms? Did you not notice you can build more when you get Megaengineering?
I still don't understand ship experience. Do they level up from battles? Do they get bonuses?
The synaptic lieth sounds kind of like a woodchiper.
Round 2 let's go!!
What is causing my Dyson Spheres to output 3400 instead of 4000?
Federation members have their energy output reduced by 15% - you don't notice it on your stars with 1 - 3 energy because 15% isn't even enough to round down, but damn do you notice it on 4K.
You forgot the do not build wonder sphere.
Will we get a new origin tier list? 🙂
Do a gigas tier list PLS 🥺
Doesn't this mean you can use the Sentry Array to shut down someone else's fauna farming?
.5 seconds into the video and I'm gonna say synaptic lathe.
I just wish he says what dlc are these
The solution for the final phase of the Science Nexus would be turning the sacrificed scientist's perks into the perks provided by the final stage.
This would mean the brain upload would indirectly be equal to a second Head of Research council slot or better depending on who is uploaded.
I can't build arc furnace helpp
Hey Mate, do you do saving disaster stellaris campaigns ? Would make a good video I wouldnt mind sending you one where i just get smashed, i suck at this game haha
Send it to me! I'll have a look
