The thing about the Bee Gees "Stayin' Alive" is that you absolutely CANNOT put headphones on, turn it up loud and then simply "walk" down the street - you'll automatically start to strut instead... every single time! It's got that beat and an amazing vibe that won't let your body stay still.
LOL, I'm autistic (didn't know it for many years), but I did know I would get clumsy and walk super awkwardly (right leg and right arm swinging forward at the same time) when in an unfamiliar place, when nervous, or distracted. Since I was maybe 16 years, I play a trick. I just sing this song in my head, and voila! my walking returns normal, or even better than normal!
I love that we get their genuine opinions. So many reaction channels "over-react" and tell the audience what they think they want to hear rather than actually giving their own opinion. As always, wonderful insights. As one of then gentlemen said, it's not a song I really listen to, except when it comes on at parties. Then it's perfect. (And for CPR classes as well!)
I love that you included the tidbit about it being used for CPR. It's the more "appropriate" one thematically (bc of "staying alive"), but ironically another popular song that fits this beat is Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" lolll
I am utterly humbled by Abdul Aziz' insight and wisdom. Literally his first comment was on point; essentially "no matter the situation, you have to keep moving forward." You sir, are at the top of my list of people I would want as a mentor and guiding influence.
It would be more awkward if you did CPR to the tune of ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ (which has the same beat and rhythm) and someone heard you sing the song while doing CPR
I'm loving the display of beautiful art all over the background! It's interesting to look at, without being too much of a distraction. That's a hard balance to find, I'm sure!
I’m 61 now. Can’t tell you how pleased I am to see that you’re introducing The Bee Gees to another part of the world where perhaps they will be appreciated in entirely new ways. As we have always loved them in the USA and other Western countries. Particularly now that all of them are deceased except for Barry GIBB the oldest of the brothers. It would be wonderful if he knew about this. I think that The Bee Gees is being shared to a new part of the world would delight him beyond belief. Staying Alive used to promote health and wanting live and promoting brotherhood between USA Pakistan and other countries .
I love this channel. The Bee Gees are from my country, Australia. I spent a lot of time in the tribal areas of Pakistan and always tell people that they have some of the most beautiful spirited people in the world. Keep up the good work.
They're not "from Australia ". They were born on the Isle of Man , the family moved back to Manchester in 1955. They did emigrate to Australia in 1958, and went back to the UK in 1967. They did make their 1st recordings in Australia but didn't make it big til they returned to the UK .
I was but a child when this song came out originally, then it was just a catchy disco song. As I got older I realised that the Bee Gees has a respectable history in music with some real classic songs. This one has a meaning that hits hard once you know it. I do now. Stay strong. We are all just staying alive ! But a word on the music and vocals... superb. Also sir the production and presentation in this video is excellent, while I still like the old format. This presentation is very professional while retaining the identity of the cast.

As a nurse in the US I can tell you that this song is still used in CPR classes. The heart beats rapidly and this song also has a fast beat. It's also fun!
These guys are great. So down to Earth, but they have their eyes open, and they think clearly. In a time when the media obfuscate different people from each other, these cross cultural excercises are immenley important.. also Cricket :)
the song itself is one of those where the mood of the beat and the mood of the meaning are quite different; it's about struggling to survive in poor, neglected inner cities. Its application to CPR training came later when the song was established in the culture and it could be used as a teaching tool. It could be fun to follow this up with "New York Mining Disaster 1941"; show them the Beegees a decade younger in a totally different area, singing about the 1966 Aberfan mining disaster (via a 1939 New York disaster that they changed to 1941)
Yes, Robin Gibb wrote the lyrics on the Concorde after reading the NY Times about violence and unrest in NYC in the 70's, Son of Sam, race riots and all that. That is what it is about. The same with "Mining Disaster." Aberfan was just about a year previous.
I was actually thinking something similar...show them the dance scene with Travolta. However, I'm going to guess that it is culturally taboo - either the way the women dress or the fact that men and women are touching/dancing in public (or both). If I'm wrong, I think it would be a great follow-up clip for all of them to see how the song was originally experienced, back then.
You forgot to explain them, that their voices here are not their normal voices, but a special singing technique called falsetto. They sung 90% of their songs in their normal chest voices!!!
This was wonderful to watch! Everyone's opinions and thoughts really convey what the song brings out for many people that listen to it. I think that Barry Gibb would appreciate watching this and would give his honest feedback as well just as Robin and Maurice would do were they still alive today to enjoy this reaction to one of their classic hit songs. ❤
I'm just so fascinated by their reactions to music, culture we take for granted. I wish all of them the best of luck, they've entertained, enlightened and made a fan of a regular guy, struggling to make a living day after day, half a world away in Miami, Florida.
I just stumbled upon this channel when listening to some metal music (the first video I saw was them reacting to One by Metallica). This isn't what I was looking for at all, but I'm so glad I found it! These guys' wisdom and insight is a breath of fresh air and I love how honest they are with their opinions. Did I disagree with a couple things one of them said? sure. but that's life. sometimes people disagree and that's okay. I can still appreciate his input and respect his wisdom. Thank you so much for bringing these videos to the internet where I could see them! I really appreciate them. ^v^
Another commenter, @catmus1506 , had an excellent suggestion, and I want to echo that here to increase the chances that the producers will see that person's idea: It would be very nice to see these gentlemen react to an earlier song by the Bee Gees called "New York Mining Disaster" from 1967. There is a video here on UA-cam, which is a more traditional performance video interspersed with scenes depicting the mining industry, and they still had shorter masculine hairstyles back then. You see Barry playing guitar, and Maurice playing bass. And most importantly, the lyrics are a fictional but very tragic story, based on number of a real life tragedies that took the lives of people working in or near mines in other parts of the world.
And then, after "New York Mining Disaster" which was when the Brothers were young adults, could you please also have them react to the video of The Bee Gees as young boys performing on a television show in 1960, singing "Time is Passing By" where they are all dressed very traditionally, with very short masculine hairstyles, and you can see that they are polite young boys during the segment where the TV host interviews them. Barry plays guitar here as well. I think it would be great to see them reacting to the different genres of music that the brothers performed, and see how their fashion style evolved over the years, but in reverse order where they have already made certain assumptions about them from the long-haired 70s image from "Stayin' Alive"
Ah yes the BeeGees. Love them. As other people have mentioned in the comments here, when I was taught CPR (first aid), it was to the rhythm of staying alive😁
More amazing songs by these brothers. Too Much Heaven. Living Eyes. Kiss Of Life. Fanny Be Tender With My Love. Words. To Love Somebody. Run To Me. Nights On Broadway. They have five decades of amazing songs. They wrote there own songs and many for others. Hundreds of artists have recorded their songs. A great video is 100 top 10 hits written by the Bee Gees. More songs are Mr Natural. For Whom The Bell Tolls. Tragedy. How Do You Mend A Broken Heart. I Can't See Nobody. And The Sun Will Shine. Tomorrow Tomorrow. Wedding Day. Alone. Shine Shine. My World. The Wind Of Change. One. Wouldn't I Be Someone. Reaching Out. Morning Of My Life. Edge Of The Universe. World. Don't Forget To Remember. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.
This is crazy; I had to do chest compressions on a baby squirrel recently and realized I needed to brush up on my human cpr after that. I looked it up and discovered that Staying Alive is indeed recommended for helping you keep rhythm as you do compressions! I only knew that a few weeks ago and here it is on your channel! Thankfully I haven’t had to test using the song that way, but it helps that the title ties in so well to trying to keep someone alive 😊 Great reaction!
Hey, hope you're doing great Sarah. Wow, you did a CPR on a baby squirrel? Did he made it out? I remember watching the reference to this song on an episode of Grey's Anatomy. I used to watch that show a lot back when I was in college. I had lots of free time back then that I used to watch a couple of shows (All U.S ones). I was able to share that clip with Muharam which I'll try to put in the deleted scenes for you guys on Patreon. Fun fact: Barry Gibb actually laid on the floor and had a device monitoring his heart beat and then asked the drummer to keep that beat on 😀
@@TRYBALS - Where did you hear that? I don't believe it. Furthermore, a normal heart beat can vary widely from 50 to 100 and still be considered normal and even faster or slower depending on the circumstances.
@@TRYBALS sadly, no, I think the little squirrel had probably been laying on the ground and fell from a pretty good height; he might have been dead the whole time, but I had to try. I live near the foothills of a mountain so we get more wildlife than typical for this area. Usually it’s cool, but sometimes it’s sad like this time. Oh that’s cool about Barry Gibb! I didn’t know that story at all! No wonder the song work so well for cpr! 😊
An interesting fact for our friends. Barry Gibb, the eldest Gibb brother, was very close friends with Michael Jackson. Michael was godfather to one of Barry's children. In the west people choose godparents not just for religious reasons but in case they should die they want the godfather or godmother to take care of their children. 🙏🏼
Would love it if you gentlemen could look at more disco from earlier in the movement! I sometimes just love reading the English language Wikipedia entries on music you learn some fascinating things about where different ideas come from! There's a song called 'we are family' I love.
I am absolutely blown away by the intuitive wisdom of these Men for a song we Americans think of as a novelty!! I was a child in the 70s and love this song but never considered the meaning until now!! I guess the Bee gees were as great as I always thought! Clearly they had a vision that can be deciphered in 2024 by tribal Men from the other side of the world 🌎!! Absolutely 💯 incredible!!
Cheers for the variety of a fun disco song; the serious stuff is also great but they deserve a broad education! I was thinking of your channel the other day while listening to music; there are several Bob Dylan songs you could consider covering all with great lyrics and cultural significance to unpack (Blowin' In The Wind, Like A Rolling Stone, Subterranean Homesick Blues, to highlight just a few key ones), and _From The Beginning_ by Emerson, Lake & Palmer is a well-known prog classic that can take the listener on a journey.
This was so fun. To the interviewer (sorry I don't have your name), you have a twin brother in Atlanta, Georgia! He is my brother in law. Seriously, look alike! Also, Chacha is a very distinguished man, they all are really. Thank you for entertaining us, many blessings to you all!
How could they know (at least from my perspective) that as a young 20-something, this was (for some of us) the greatest song and song group ever!? I still feel that way.
I was about nine when this song came out. And they played it at the bowling alley where I was on the kids league. Saturday mornings. I thought I was so cool. Lol
Yes! And it would also show the breadth of musical styles that the Bee Gees performed, and show them in their younger days with more traditional masculine clothing. It would be good for them to react to that song for several reasons.
I'm going to make several replies under your comment to increase the chances that the producers will see the suggestion. I also made a separate comment, mentioning your suggestion. I hope more people up-vote your suggestion as well.
ok I'm not through the video yet but them sitting there staring intensely for at least the first minute and a half of the song without any type of swaying or facial reactions has me rolling xD 4:05 - 5:45 complete silence and concentration.
They ALL were great. Barry always gets all the credit because he sang lead a lot in the disco era and especially since his brothers died. All three wrote and composed their songs and all had terrific and different voices. Maurice was a master musician. Robin's voice was totally unique. Listen to their entire catalogue from 1960 to into the early 2000's, not just the short 3 or 4 years labelled as disco.
Before The Bee Gees created disco and this high voice style for a movie, they had a much different style and wrote music for other artists. The 2 shorter brothers were twins. Only the balding one is still alive I think. (Maurice) (his twin was Robin)Also Barry, the taller one has died. They also had a younger brother Andy who they had record some music for the movie that made him a star. He died young due to drug problems if I remember correctly. From Australia
You are absolutely wrong. Barry, the oldest is still alive, the twins died 20, and 10 years ago- And Andy died bc of myocarditis and not of drugs and he never had played in a movie!!!
@@nelerhabarber5602 you are correct about the deaths I just verified, but note so did qualify my statements. However I was not saying Andy was in a movie. I was saying that they had him record a couple songs on the soundtrack for the movie.
@@xfngrs About what soundtrack and movie are you speaking? Andy was a SOLO ARTIST and his brothers helped him by writing his songs and singing back vocals there!. And about his death- the brothers and Barry still now are very angry, if people say, he died of drugs, bc its not true. If you don`t know nothing, PLEASE don`t comment untruths. Others believe that, write it somewhere else and THIS is how false rumors arise that offend and hurt those affected (Barry, Andy's daughter, the Gibb families)!!!
Ok that’s not true either I see. Here’s the thing. I spent the summer that Andy Gibb became a big thing in Germany where he was not a big thing. When I got back, I heard them on the radio and asked a friend about him and I believe that’s the story I was given. But I see now that that’s not true.
Thanks for this flashback. The BG’s had some nice hits in the early 70s. All the girls my age had a celebrity crush on their younger brother, Andy. They kind of disappeared for awhile, then reinvented themselves during the disco/ cocaine fad of the late 70’s. This song was on the radio constantly. I don’t think the men were very impressed with the song, and I don’t blame them. It sends out two separate messages. It was written for a movie so maybe they played it over different scenes in the movie. I don’t remember. Something I’ve noticed lately by going down rabbit holes and reading books on singers is most of them , the ones who had long careers, reinvented themselves. Bob Dylan didn’t just change his name, he changed his personality outside of his home. He cultivated a mysterious, sort of fog around himself, liked to keep his audience guessing about what he was really like. In interviews, he was rude and didn’t cooperate with reporters. These actions helped people keep interested in him. And he changed his music. Lots of singers changed their style of music, to stay current. When you think about it, it must have been freeing to have the nerve to just think you were going to change your name, and behave in a different way. It must be a good experience, because a lot of artists did that. This is a nice choice of song, Adnan. Thank you to you, and the men. Hope everyone has a nice day.
The song was not written for the SNF movie. They recorded it in France for their next LP and their manager asked for some songs to use in a movie, which they hadn't even seen and was yet to be made, and they gave them this and a few others. They got blacklisted at the end of the 70's due to over saturation of their music on the radio and had to write for other artists. Robin did solo LP's in the 80's. At the end of the 80's they got back together as a group and resumed touring after Andy's death and produced a lot of great non "disco" music right into the 2000's.
They would like the Bee Gees older music more with the psychedelic folk and acoustic influences. Also they'd love the Moody Blues song "Om" with strong Indian influence.
This song is a Masterclass in harmonisation, the Bee Gees were musical geniuses, they did this with their music and their voices! Unfortunately the gentlemen here are not familiar with the concept of the harmonsiation of vocals, nor that a man can sing Soprano and that this is quite common (and acceptable, lol) in Soul music for example, as seen in Motown songs. One of the men in the group will sing the main vocal with a high voice. This ability to sing high was *respected* and valued, it did not mean the man is 'effeminate', as the men seem to think here! The eldest man of them says that 'the middle one is the best and the others are not, and that they are 'trying to help him'. He has the right idea, however, nope, they are *harmonising* with his main vocal, whilst singing in diffferent chords. They make it look easy, but it's actually a very hard thing to do, because you are singing a different musical note, to the people around you and you have to ignore hearing them. Vocal harmonising is usually done by choirs, after months of practice. If the gentleman had been introduced to Western music through the decades, they would have seen this kind of vocal harmonising at a lower Baritone level of a man's voice, with 'Doo Wop' music, early on and maybe would have been more familiar with vocal harmonies. Try playing The Hallelujah Chorus, by Handel that would be a good one! Or, Simon & Garfunkel, perhaps. Or, 'Under The Boardwalk', by The Drifters, for an example of vocal harmonies, sung with lower voices.
Always interesting to see and hear their reactions to different songs and performers. I would love to see their reaction to Lara Fabian singing 'je suis malade'

Hey Adnan. Great video...again. :) When it was said that the Bee Gees (stands for Brothers Gibb) sound like women, you should explain that they are singing in their falsetto voices. A falsetto voice is also referred to as a head voice which is very different from one's chest voice. Using one's falsetto voice allows the person to reach even higher notes. The Bee Gees actually started their career singing with their chest voices which were much deeper and rounder sounding.
Can the tribal people please watch Amira Willighagen at nine years old, when she won Holland's Got Tallent with the song Ave Maria. I would love to see what they think of opera music, although Ave Maria isn't Opera, she does sing Nessun Dorma in the competition too. Thank you.

I live in Central Asia and don't understand English very well. So it always seemed to me that disco songs are always about something cheerful and positive, songs without any deep meaning. And this video gave me conflicting feelings.
I love their music, but when the young man said they come across like "A holes" he was spot on. I laughed so hard when he said that. They are not poor and never have been, but they do have sadness because their youngest brother, who was very talented, died young im 1988. Andy Gibb. He was described as a "very kind and gentle person".
Sorry but I do not agree where on earth do you get that they were A holes????? And they were not always rich so don’t know where you get that either .. their dad was a drummer working the local hotels in the Isle of Man …hardly rich any in way .. my cousin was also a drummer in that era , so I’m well aware of the wages for a jobbing drummer .. the Bee Gees have always been down to earth and humble …. So please stop with your miss information… as for Andy sadly he allowed the drugs to get the better of him …the heart problems came about because of the hard drugs !!! You sound very jealous and bitter about the 3 brothers …

I love that the host shares the CPR use! To further put it in a cultural context I'm surprised John Travolta's dance scene wasn't shown.
Yes!!! Iconic! In fact I'm going to search it right now.
Travolta didn't dance to this in the film. He was walking down the street as this song played.
@@Xiroi87 Yeah the famous dance scene is More Than A Woman I think.
@@Sankara561 And You Should Be Dancing.
You forgot to explain them, that their voices here are not their normal voices, but a special singing technique called falsetto. They sung 90% of their songs in their normal chest voices!!!
It's still their normal voice!
@@michaelasay8587 NO, the normal voice is the chest voice, NOT falsetto!!!🤦
It is amazing how clothes go out of style and come back after many generations as the now generation brings them back as the one man said.
I like their honesty; good video
I just stumbled upon this channel when listening to some metal music (the first video I saw was them reacting to One by Metallica). This isn't what I was looking for at all, but I'm so glad I found it! These guys' wisdom and insight is a breath of fresh air and I love how honest they are with their opinions. Did I disagree with a couple things one of them said? sure. but that's life. sometimes people disagree and that's okay. I can still appreciate his input and respect his wisdom.
Thank you so much for bringing these videos to the internet where I could see them! I really appreciate them. ^v^
That patreon ad at the end of the video is genius! Well played sir
One of the men is such a sweet person. Every time he fills my soul😊
Ah yes the BeeGees. Love them. As other people have mentioned in the comments here, when I was taught CPR (first aid), it was to the rhythm of staying alive😁

So nice to see Adnan behind the camera as well ☺️ I really enjoy your videos and have always loved this song, I was 12 in the US when it came out 💗
I am absolutely blown away by the intuitive wisdom of these Men for a song we Americans think of as a novelty!!
I can just see one of our members driving a cab around , moving to this song 😂
I suggest The Band/The Staples- The Weight (The Last Waltz) An amazing song.
Much love to my brothers from another land. I enjoy watching you take in things I love and hear all your thoughts.
I hope he tells them that they are brothers. They started in Australia in the early 60’s as a Boy Band and moved to England for more exposure.
Really incredible to get this kind of insight
I really enjoy listening to your guest’s opinions. They are very interesting men.
This was so fun. To the interviewer (sorry I don't have your name), you have a twin brother in Atlanta, Georgia! He is my brother in law. Seriously, look alike!

Bee Gees (BGs) is short for the Brothers Gibb
AND Barry Gibb, Barbra Gibb, Bill Goode and Bill Gates!!!
The Bee Gees here are singing in falsetto voices but they have very masculine voices & can be heard in many of their other global hit songs.
Interesting video - thanks for posting!
This 100% needed to be ; To much heaven :) So so much better
How could they know (at least from my perspective) that as a young 20-something, this was (for some of us) the greatest song and song group ever!? I still feel that way.
I was about nine when this song came out. And they played it at the bowling alley where I was on the kids league. Saturday mornings. I thought I was so cool. Lol
Do New York Mining Disaster. Now that is a powerful Bee Gees song.
I know this is kind of silly, but I'm making another reply to boost your comment higher up in the algorithm
ok I'm not through the video yet but them sitting there staring intensely for at least the first minute and a half of the song without any type of swaying or facial reactions has me rolling xD 4:05 - 5:45 complete silence and concentration.
barry gibb is the greatest...he can sing high , deep, softly he can everything.

The song was not written for the movie as Susie has said and it was used in the first scene with Travolta strutting down the street
Now I would kill to see a reaction video of Barry Gibb watching these tribal people react to Staying Alive. Amazing.
We did use that song during CPR classes in order to keep the beat.
They would like the Bee Gees older music more with the psychedelic folk and acoustic influences. Also they'd love the Moody Blues song "Om" with strong Indian influence.
I love your show, thank you 🙏
Love you ❤️
Their reaction is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
I love how, like myself, they can't help but tap their feet!! LOL
I world love seeing they reacting to Tiny Tim performance at "Stayin' Alive".
How can they are sitting serious during this disco song 😂😂

Interesting!
"Did they commisioned Bob Ross to paint that train?" ...what a quote!
They are really digging this 😂

I love their music, but when the young man said they come across like "A holes" he was spot on. I laughed so hard when he said that. They are not poor and never have been, but they do have sadness because their youngest brother, who was very talented, died young im 1988. Andy Gibb.
