    Can I put a petrol 325i e90 diff in a 330d e90? What you reckon.

Technically you can but you need to do a lot of research first. Diesel and petrol use diffrent diff gear ratios and different driveshaft lengths. Auto or manual also use different lengths and ratios. So best is swap it for the same diff or get a shop refurbish it

fellow canadian! i subscribed, i have to do this on my 2009 323i RWD 6MT. rather than waste time and money replacing all that shit you should just order a bearing rebuild kit and punch out the old ones and press new ones in,

While this is a great option and I do have a shop press which would get the job done, at a cost of about $300 for the bearing set it didn’t seem economical with the price these can be picked up for used and the inherit design flaw associated with the differential used behind Canadian 323i and other models meaning I would likely see the issue reoccur over my ownership with spirited driving. I was more than happy to replace it with something a little more stout and well while disassembling/reassembling these differentials isn’t the hardest task in the world I feel a driveline refresh would go further knowing the old components such as the centre support bearing and u-joints have been attached to a faulty differential for some time. I managed to pick up the necessary shafts for relatively inexpensive so we’ll be back on track right away. No doubt the most tasking step to get this done will be dropping the exhaust. Thanks for watching, Stay tuned for part two!

@@combustiontherapy2222 yea that makes sence, iv dropped a 328 exhaust before it was a bitch to get back on though. im in toronto and BMW parts are pretty cheap, iv bought both rear axles for $150 each because the wheel bearings were gone.

@@aivisu8865 With more of these ending up in scrap yards as of recent good used parts are becoming real economical which is nice for enthusiasts keeping them on the road

@@combustiontherapy2222 Where did you get your replacement differential from? How is your new one doing a year later?

@@luxuriousmoth1 While I no longer have this BMW I can only assume the rear differential I installed is still operating as expected. I did not replace the differential in my 323i with another 323 diff due to flawed design I went ahead swapped out my driveshaft and and installed the larger (longer) 328i diff. These 323i are a canadian special that has been given the rear differential used in the much lighter smaller 1 series of the time, I believe this is where the issue lies.
