Anton, it's very rare il sit through a vid like this, i usually skip through to get the main points then crack on with the job (do blokes really read the assembly instructions😆), but I sat and watched every minute of this mate! Very engaging, clear and informative. Superb. 10/10.
Milwaukee does a 12ah battery (quite expensive). Any idea if this will give more power to the impact gun compared with the 5ah battery? I'm inspired by your drive and determination to overcome obstacles to get the job done. Thank you.
The 12ah battery will for sure deliver a more stable power, the one I switched to was a fully charged 3ah high power battery which is supposed to be as good as a normal 6ah battery😂 the 12ah is a big lump, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I followed your video 3 years ago with the washer hack and it worked a treat. I am now getting glitchy traction control again and I think I need to do this fix. That clip of you getting the drive shaft nut off is anxiety triggering! Did you try a thicker washer before going for the ring replacement?
Hi anton just come across your videos today great content am into the same things bike bmw am also from Leicester to thanks for the video's just subscribed thanks
Hi there, it seems like the socket you are using to remove the hub nut in this video is not of the Cr-Mo heavy duty type that you link to, but rather a standard (Chrome-Vanadium?) 12-point socket. Also, the wall thickness of the socket seems thinner than the heavy duty one. Can you specify what socket you used in this video? Is it OK to use for this purpose, with a slight safety margin? Torque rating?
But obviously good enough, even with an impact tool, and torque probably well above 400Nm when undoing the nut. Why go for a Rolls Royce when a Vauxhall will do the job?😊
Good effort! My E91 started throwing up the DTS fault so I know I’ve got this coming. Will start with the washer trick on the ABS sensor first though. Definitely saved this video cheers.
Hi. If getting garage to replace reluctor ring.. is it just easier for them to fit a new shaft instead? Rather than refurb it then add new ring? I dont have all tools to do myself. So refurb will be labour cost but it might be same cost as getting new? I would need 318i se 2.0 for 2011 plate. Both rear shafts. I have no idea of brands and what are approved bmw parts. Ivr seen new shafts as low as 50 quid and up to 225. Obviously i want cheap as possible but good quality. Max i want to spend on each shaft is 110 if possible. Any recommendations on a drive shaft brand from anyone? Also will it come with ring? Thanks
@@aaanton11 thank you. any idea how much i should expect to pay for each shaft? because clayton cars in Bristol who are a specialist quoted me £550 each shaft! when online they start at £60
What happens if you don't paint the rust that's been converted? Does it just rust again? Why doesn't the gooped on converter damage the ring or interfere? I'd worry about putting on the ring until all the rust converter is complete, but not sure.
If the rings on drive shafts have been replaced on BMW 16i why does my car now feel like I can feel every bump in the road while driving not smooth like something not in place properly after costing me almost 400 from BMW it feels rough
@@aaanton11 not sure the car feels a lot faster the normal night he suspension order to different my son says it's because its a BMW 16i sport that's how it should feel tyres are ok got check for correct air pressure.
Any tips to knock the shaft through the hub? Yours seem so easy to come out, mine are stuck solid, sprayed them and could be knocking them for ages and nothing happens 😂

It is very similar, new nuts needed, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Little tip leave a bolt in a bit an put bar between bottom arm an wheel to get wheel off
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi ! How much torque on the bolts from axle shaft near the differential ? Thanks if you see this !
BMW specs are 20nm + 90degrees or Nice and tight😂 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Ugadugga tight 😂
Hi Anton, great video, one question, how long did this whole job take you roughly? Thanks

The one in the link is better for this job the one I used is just an old Britool one in my tool box, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Hi which rust converter is that you used? I would like to get the same because jenolite and others leave a darker and more rubbery finish
