They were both really talented but he was born to perform - such a natural
They’re almost forgotten now, but The Collins Kids were pioneers of Rockabilly.
Yes Yes YES!!! I’m 69 and thought I knew rock n roll history! WOW, Larry was an amazing talented performer and absolutely on fire!
Hats off to the Collins!
And thank you for enlightening me!👍
The song mentions Von Dutch..... he is regarded as the father of modern, custom, pin-striping....
RIP Lorrie (2018) - Larry (2024) 🎶🎸
Larry Collins was taught guitar by the great Joe Maphis.
The host is John Ritter's father Tex. John Ritter was 10 then 4 years behind Larry. I recently discovered them and simply can't get enough of them.
Just discovered them, wish I had seen them sooner
Way ahead of times
Timing. The Rockabilly age was short-lived, by the time they were adults it was the 60's and people were listening to Brit invasion and folk-rock. These kids were relics before their time.
Funny the British Invasion was started by acts like the Beatles that formed to play the Rockabilly songs of bands like the Collins Kids.
Yes it was a chain reaction that went full circle....peculiar.
I love these two brilliant performers... RIP Larry and Lorrie.❤❤❤
This is unreal. How were these kids not huge
They had the misfortune of signing with a label that didn't know what to do with them. Said label was run, at the time, by Mitch Miller, who hated R&R and not only tried to countrify them (And take away all the energy of their live performances), which killed sales, but never took them seriously and forced them to record a series of "novelty" songs, that bombed in the market.
@@shoknifeman2mikado135 Also, "Western Ranch Party" and "Town Hall Party", the two shows that they were regulars on, were regional shows-----not east of the Mississippi
They should of been known globally.
They WERE huge. The Beatles destroyed Rockabilly and everything else that came before them…
It’s Nothing special. He’s just riding someone else’s coattails. When he died there wasn’t anything left for them to do
RIP Lorrie, I used to watch your and your brother on the Town Hall Party show....
Year I was born was 1958. Yet, I never even heard of the Collins Kids until recently. I recalled only the more universal names in the pop/folk or western media like Elvis, the Everly Bros., Johnny Cash, Rick Nelson , ect
Likewise, born in 53
Th Collins Kids R doing some slik Groozlin 😅😅❤❤
greatest rockabilly band ever wow what talent!
Говорят, что сейчас их забыли, но я узнал только 3 недели назад. Просто поразительно!!!!!
It' s more than entertainment.
I'm 76 and watching this kid makes me feel like jumping !!
He reminded me of Paul Peterson on the Donna Reed Show....That kid could sure rock....
Lorrie Collins, 7 May 1942 - 4 August 2018, RIP.....
I just only discovered THE COLLINS KIDS about 3 weeks ago now I can't get anov of them LORRIE & LARRY COLLINS they were just spaical I knew that they would of been in their 70s now I am hoping to get a CD & a DVD of them I have got a CD of there's no the way and I can't get anov of LORRAINE COLLINS so she will all ways live on RIP LORRIE COLLINS
12 days before of the death of aretha franklin
Lyrics "I'm gonna take her for a ride.... Up on Mulholland Drive".
They might appear to be back-landers, but in fact they are true Los Anglenos.
Wonderful Americana.
JeremyClay69 They moved there with their parents to appear on Ranch Party.
straight outta Compton!
I've seen a few videos now. Love the music. Great performers. That kid was born to perform.
Urodzony szołmen,że tak powiem.dobrze tańczy,gra i śpiewa i ma kontak z siostrą! Brawo, super!
So much talent
This was rock before sex and drugs were introduced into the mix. Then along came a guy named Elvis and after Elvis came the Beatles and the Stones then the Doors and Hendrix. I'm seeing the Stones next month and I can guarantee you they still remember who the Collin kids are.
At best they were novelties, good wholesome family entertainment
And now RIP Larry
Great music !
This was on one of the digital TV channels the other day. Liked the double necked guitar Larry played. RFD TV or the other country music channels should air this.
ebf1957 only the second ever Mosrite Double Neck. Joe Maphis played the first one.
Wow! Rockabilly at it's finest!! Both are outstanding. He is Mr. Charismatic and runs some nice riffs. His sister has a beautiful voice and is a hottie!
I was 8 back than...and hated Larry for playing that guitar that well..Lorrie was a doll
Seen the kids in Compton great
RIP Lorrie Collins
great act
What can l say?
Jaw dropping!!!
10 out of ten & above!
want to cheer up; the Colins Kids are the ones
God love him they don't make them like that anymore
What a marvel! Love this tune...! Thx!
Love the modified Duck Walk.
Lovely song
I'm enjoying this in 2021, they were So Talented and way before I was born!!!
Laurie was 🔥
No caffeine needed here.
Love everyone of their videos. I'm surprised Larry is not an American icon. He's like a 'mini me' version of Elvis Presley
этот малыш - открытие для меня.
Un rockero de alma
😃👍🏿👍🏿
Now I know where Elvis Presley got his moves from.
ME TOO!!!
I'm only fourteen, but I'm goin' on fifteen
But I wanna be sixteen, so I can get me a hot rod
I want a streamline chassis, man it's gotta be classy
I' m gonna give it that certain touch
With a little bit of Von Dutch
I found a real cute baby, she's a real swingin' baby
And she says we'll go steady just
As soon as I get me a hot rod
I'm gonna take her for a moonlight drive
Across Mullholland Drive, then we'll really be alive
As soon as I get me a hot rod
With my baby sittin' close to me
We'll do a little draggin' don't you see
We'll even lay a path for you and me
As soon as I get me a hot rod
Yeah, I'm only fourteen, but I'm goin' on fifteen
But I wanna be sixteen, so I can get me a hot rod
Sad but true dat.
Great! Hillbilly, Rock 'n' Roll, Rockabilly or whatever we can call this, it's great! And, as they would have said in the 50's: "Good, clean family entertainment!", maybe? Probably was deemed as the devil's music by some misguided people... ;)
Anybody know if they're the children of Bakersfield Boy Tommy Collins? I hear them all on Sirius channel 349("The Bakersfield Beat") created by Dwight Yoakum. Used to watch Ranch Party every week, brings back memories.
Nope. Tommy Collins was born in 1930, Lorrie Collins in 1942, and Larry Collins in 1944 -- do your own math.
Thanks for info. Were they related at all?
Sorry -- don't know.
Considering tommy collins real name is not tommy collins id say no
I've been watching these the last few weeks..& I've noticed the boy plays the double neck but rarely plays the upper neck.. if at all. Are there any recordings of him playing both in the same song or even just the upper ? Also I know his sister has past on , but did either of them go on to play in other bands ?
too bad larry grew up...he is awsome
A W S O M E ! ! !
Larry grew up to be a tall guy
I’ve never seen Larry play the upper guitar?
Ларри всех опередил в рок н роле он первый
Thats an awesome song. Is it a cover? Who made the original?
Tex Ritter was so down to earth compared to his son John. He just makes me want tlo join him and the folks down home on the ranch and
relax and kick my feet up
The kid needed to smoke a joint to call him down .
That's about thirty seconds more of Tex Ritter than I care to hear.
what's your problem with Tex? did he turn out to be a bad guy?
I'd give that Collins girl a hot rod. ME YOW!
Creeps me out actually
That's a You Problem.
Larry's not plugged in ? At least his guitars not, he's amped.
He is plugged in. It's just hard to see the cable. He has it tucked in his strap.
looks like he is pluged in to me. do noy know what yu mean he"s amped. could you explane please
Tell me Aerosmith and Judas Priest didn’t borrow a few moves from the Collins Kids
except for maybe chuck berry i'd say larry collins was the best guitar player of the 50's
66bgrs There was the other star of this show, the King of the Strings, Joe Maphis. Joe was the first to pay the double neck Mosrite guitar. Larry was good, but he was no Joe Maphis.
SAGENHAFT !!!
Never were on ed Sullivan show that's why they were never made greats
they shouldn't give this kid benzadrine. it's not good for you.
Sorry but their voices dont go togethet
I guess you can do better ?
wonder what black siblings these two posers ripped off
you obviously have not studied early Rock much. While it certainly grew out of Blues and Jazz It owed just as much to Country or what was then called Hillbilly music. While some early rock Stars stole from black artists it does not mean that all of them did or even tried to.Even Pat Boone who is now seen as a serial thief of R&B was not aware that the songs his label picked for him to sing were being stolen from others at first. And since songs were sung by lots of artists then he certainly did not know that the original artist did not receive anything but a one time payment when they first recorded . I'm no fan of Pat Boone's but what was sleazy was not him but the industry itself. Adults in their 40's and older stole the songs from acts both black and white and paid pennies or less for the rights to them. They then would teach the songs to their performers who only got paid more if they created a national hit record. Otherwise all they got paid for was the recording session and maybe a show or 2 near some station that played the record.
ugh shut up snowflake
What gives you the right little miss prissy. Go back to your Boyfriend and leave me out of it.
my boyfriend and I both think you are a snowflake and a cuke
