That was so hilarious, the parents of each thought they complete losers..only they could love and understand one another. This was such a genius skit! Both from the best comedians on the planet!🌟
We grew up with these shows in our lives. I think our world would be a better place if today's children had this in their lives instead of the things they watch.
Jerry Lewis was famous for only admiring very very few people in show business. Carol Burnett was one of the few who he respected immensely and thought she was super talented. Carol thought the same of Jerry and it shows here in this legendary sketch.
A True Masterpiece of American Humor. In music, it is equal with Beethoven's Fifth. In poetry, with John Keats. In science, with Galileo. In philosophy, with Socrates. In slapstick, with Buster Keaton. In humility, with Jesus Christ.
Jerry was a brilliant dancer . If you watch the old shows with him and Dean Martin you can see where Michael Jackson got all of his signature dance moves from .
For all of you people who idolize Jerry Lewis, take some time and google the life of Lewis! You will find out that he was, in fact, a HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING! He treated pretty much everyone around him like second class citizens! He was condescending and cruel to workers such as his staff and others and basically made their lives miserable! He had a horrible relationship with his first wife and five sons and cut all of them out of his Will before he died! He left all of his money to his second wife and step-daughter! He also has another daughter from an affair and refuses to even acknowledge her or help her even though she is homeless living on the streets of Philadelphia! I could go on and on but, I think you get at least a glimpse of who this guy really is! His true personality is nothing like the public image he wanted you to believe! Dean Martin said it Best when he called Lewis “a MONSTER”!
Truly!! He's doesn't just do good imitations, or know how to play a character ... he shows the essence of the emotional moments or mood that drives the character. It's remarkable!
I really miss the days of growing up watching shows or movies of Carroll Burnett and Jerry Lewis in it. I missed their talent loaded with lots of clean comedy that caused such laughter im our homes.
You can still find them on the internet. I prefer movies made before I was born 😂. Sweet, innocent, no sex, no foul mouth, no gore... Just sweet innocence. That probably makes me weird, but it's all I can handle.

Me three ! Today was Labor day ,and told my friend how i miss Jerry so much on the''Telethon'' on TV. Thank s so much 4 posting this hilarious sketch !!1
Carol is a genius in showing the heart of the character , she makes you believe that there are couples like this who are alike and finally feel like they fit in . Beautifully done , very funny but full of heart too. Their comic timing was so good, they only had a day or two to formulate and rehearse this skit. True talent.
@Len I just learned that this is a reproduction of a sketch that they had done together in 1961 on the Garry Moore show. Makes this version all the sweeter somehow...
This is what I grew up with. Not today's rubbish. Crude and vulgar insults to what ever is good is not humour. The comedians of my generation were talented and clever.
I agree. These are two comic geniuses at work together and their timing and characterisation is utterly flawless. They simply make two misfits very relatable and lovable and I wonder how sensitively this could be done nowadays - well, probably not at all - there would be crude sexual references and hurtful remarks. That is the difference between real talent and the manufactured sort of bilge we have to view now. Watch and learn, comics of now, watch and learn.
2 of the greatest physical comics who ever lived, no doubt. i love the way their genuine admiration for each other played out in the sketch. priceless footage.
Boy, two comedic masters, Carol and Jerry really knew how to work well together, too. I grew up watching her show in the afternoons, and that's a big part of the humor on TV I miss. It's a shame they didn't do more together, from his interview he had nothing but respect for her.
They just don't make "funny" like that anymore! They had great comic writers back then, but each performer also had their own special sense of humor within themselves! Carol is 85 now, but I never used to miss her show, all those funny characters she portrayed -- just terrific fun! What was the funniest, was when they had to try to keep from cracking up on set! Sometimes in spite of all their efforts, they just had to squelch a laugh! And that made it funnier than ever! I miss that.
I really think Jerry is a dancer, as well as a comedian. I know he danced, and could dance really well, but seeing this - even more refined in his physicality as he was older - makes me realize he is Dancer with a capital D. He has the same body awareness of angles, lines and shapes that dancers have and need to hit in order to make the performance shine. He just had such a keen awareness of his own body and how to move it to look the way it needed to in order to express a certain state of being or emotion. It's truly breathtaking when applied to comedy! Because there's an elegance and sense of ease to it. The same way Fosse or Michael Jackson were... they just knew exactly how to move their body in order to make the expression they needed to make. And, even though he is a comedian first and foremost, I feel this is why people responded to him in a similar way as they do with great dancers - in awe! Because there is more than just comedy happening... it's an entire, emotional performance. I love him!!
No wonder Jim Carrey regards Jerry his Icon..the similarity in both their acts is uncanny... Of course Jerry is superbly the Original, but Jim also excelled in his antics ❤️❤️ two diamonds of the same value but from different generations 👍
You can be funny that way or the other way too. Now if you think Jerry Lewis is funny, fine, but his character was way over used over the years and to me not funny at all. Carol Burnett was the real talent to me at least. She could many different characters that were good, and working next to Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, Vicky Lawrence she was even better.
