I will never understand why this pair were not superstars.
She ran off with Johnny Cash's manager when she was 17, leaving her fifteen year old brother high and dry.
RIP Larry Collins........a truly gifted player and entertainer.
Man, her voice during the intro could melt glass.
😃
It melted an old mans heart and I’m not kidding. lol she married him twice her age.
Who'd she marry, and how old was she when she married? Also, the fiddle player's pretty easy on the eyes.
@@TheBrooklynbodine She married the manager of Johnny Cash then. And this because Cash was serious after her and this would‘ve raised a scandals. You can read this all in the Johnny Cash biography by Robert Hilburn. Lorrie was 17 when she married 26 years old Stew Carnall.
@@mariowildner5874 12-16 is the normal age when men find women most attractive, so 17 is fine.
I've seen this clip many, many times but never as good as this , I don't know man, you must be a magician, thank you so much!!
The kid is a born performer.
I love this group they know they could pick that guitar I have they made many years ago call shortening bread I still play it today I just love this group fabulous they are just fabulous
I love her. And brother rockin this is still HEP today!
RIP Lorrie Collins (May 7, 1942 - August 4, 2018), aged 76
And
RIP Larry Collins (October 4, 1944 - January 5, 2024), aged 79
You both will be remembered as legends.
When music was music 🎶 ❤❤❤ rest in peace. U both entertained the world 🗺
Never heard of these kids, they sure needed more better promotion & exposure!
@@robertaguilar2124 tons of rockabilly artists didnt get a lot of airplay because of how the industry treated the genre
you either had to go full rock, pop or country
My name is Collins and I approve this act!
I thankss god that he has given us the opportunity to see such artist and entertainers, i wish that these will born in my country (INDIA).
Ларри просто огонь! Жаль, что раньше не знал о нём и его сестре Лорри. Царствие ему небесное. Сколько же в жизни хорошего и интересного прошло мимо нас. Не одобряю нынешнего но и железный занавес не очень желателен.
I have an old LP with the Collins kids doing Walking the Floor Over You. I'm 70 years old and that's been my favorite song throughout my entire life, even though Ernie Tubbs made it famous.
All their performances were so marvelous ❤️❤️
Stars.
I have got THE COLLINS KIDS HOY HOY on a CD
Hoy. That's how the Aussies say hi, explained by an Aussie Karchka Riley. Think I spelled his first name wrong.
Here after The NY Times obit Sunday 1/14/24. Love these Collins kids!
R.I.P. Larry
Here brother so full that dancing energy that only young people had and she was a beautiful young woman too.
Natural beauty not a bunch of makeup and face paint.
Wonderfull...rock n roll..🎸
I just read Larry Collin’s obit in The NY Times, groovy music
BO Diddly goes country 😂. Great stuff. 👍 🐟
Hosted by Tex Ritter, father of actor John Ritter .
Little fact for you all. Surf guitar God Dick Dale had a crush on Lori Collins, while he was hanging around the studio he was getting pointers from Larry Collins, Larry Collins possibly influence guitar God Dick Dale. Just impossible thought and I think it's true. Also that guitar Larry Collins is playing is almost 60 lb clear sky. Go to Wikipedia on the Collins kids and you can learn about that guitar. And why the hell aren't they in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They put R&B performers and rap performers in there and Country performers in there. That's pure old school rock and roll
WOW! HIGH DEF! 'Bout time! ❤
Oh them Guitars
I hear a lot of Bo Diddley in Larry's playing!
Larry is a great picker
Hab das Video zufällig entdeckt. Gefällt mir sehr gut. Absolute Spielfreude. Wunderbar. Was ist aus den Collin Kids geworden?
that kid with the electric guitar needs to lay of the sugary soft drinks
Hoy hoy hoy
Un mago con la música
If that little dude didn't have such a big heavy guitar, I doubt his feet would ever hit the ground!... Haha!
¡Ni Elvis Presley, ni hostias! Esto es el verdadero ruakenroll. Aúpa Bizkaia.
What ever happened to them?
Better than anyone today. You listening Taylor Swift?
Looks like Jimmy Page borrowed few things from Larry...
Just "discovered" the Collins 3 days ago. I am 65 and have never heard of them. I am making up for lost time! The Collins boy's energy, enthusiasm and his sheer joy just make you feel good watching him.
Same here, just discovered them on UA-cam three days ago. I'm 71.
58 and same here. I'm from Nashville and thought by now They'd be Houshold names. Incredible!
It's Western Swing. They had lots of hopusehold names playing it. Not Rock.
Lots of people say it's not. BUT, before Rock n Roll, Western Swing was the quickest thing you could dance to.
Bill Haley and the Comets played Western Swing and were adapted in by the Memphis Rock n Rollers.
i am stunned that i have never come across such talent....i am 75
43 here, and stumbled on Larry's version of Ramrod a couple of months ago. I was totally blown away. =)
I can't belive that I never even heard of the Collins until 2023. The kid on the guitar just smashes all of the 1950's rock n roll guitarists and should have been a headliner.
I think Jimmy Page copied the style of "Larry Collins" !!!
Yes
The little guy on guitar just needs a bit more self confidence😆
lol
The kid's a little too animated. Maybe too much sugar?
LOL!
Now that’s funny
@@thelakeman5207 beyond irritating
Wow .. the freakin ENERGY !!! .. GO Larry!
WHY have I never heard of them? They're great!
You took the words right out of my mouth!
They were very popular in California and now in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
Because the music studios didn't like "cowboy" music. Until Buddy Holly and the Crickets made it happen. Hence, The Beatles.
If that’s not Rockabilly what is. Of course they’re from Oklahoma.
Lorrie is as pretty as a new set of truck tires, and boy can she sing! Brother Larry is smokin' on that gitar as well...
"... pretty as a new set of truck tires ... " - I'm stealing that!
ricky nelson wanted her bad, but i think the mom and dad discouraged it.
The boy, Larry, is an incredibly polished performer for being around age 12!
He may have played it earlier and then did the dancing with lip sync Lip sync started in the 1930s
He was 14 here and had been playing live since he was 11. He was a seasoned performer. These were taped live, vocals and guitar, not lip synced.
@@rockinredneck57 Yes, Larry himself said, in later interviews, that all those '50's performances were %100 live.
@@bobsmoth-iv3sp No it didn't. I've been in live studio recording since the 60's and double track layover didn't exist....no lip sync. You must be thinking Millie Vanilli or Janet Jackson.
This is pure rock and roll
Tex Ritter was more progressive than I would have imagined, having a couple of young rockabilly siblings on the show as regulars. Thanks UA-cam! I never would have encountered this awesome duo with out your nifty algorithms.
The
Best😂😅
Why does Jimmy Page keep showing up as Larry Collins??!!! hahha...Jimmy's secret is out!!!!!
Wow! That boy wrote "Delta Dawn"
He also wrote You're the reason God made Oklahoma.
@@Eustice2Co wrote with Sandy Pinkard.
I've know about them for many years but started to actively listen to them today. I am surprised they were not bigger in the 1950s. RIP Lorrie.
And now Larry.
@gcord21
In my book, at an absolute minimum they deserved to rule the world.
I think they upped poor Larry's Ritalin dosage for this performance.
This video should be the most wieved of all times. Those kids rocked like crazy!
There were literally hundreds of them all over the south and southwest, particularly Texas...where swing started.
Heppest of The Hep is right. Larry and Lorrie Collins will blow you away with their originality and talent. I just recently "discovered" the Collins Kids and have become a huge fan. Got Volumes 1, 2 & 3 of "Collins Kids At Town Hall Party" by Bear Family Records, and those DVD's are absolute treasures. I'm actively looking for more clips all over YT and elsewhere, plus any more DVD's that are available.
Larry was born for this
Nothing better ---- pure, pure, pure music !!!!! Just found a few days ago and already ordered a Collins kids cd
I just hung out with Larry, the kid on the double neck guitar. He's a really nice guy! I'm liking this music too!
She was Ricky Nelson's first romantic interest. She appeared on the Ozzie & Harriet show.
I just heard...I am so sorry to hear about Larry Collins passing... Much love and prayers to family and friends.
(thanks for all the great music you have shared with all of us over the years)
the girl is very seductive. the boy needs to try the decaf.
Richtig geil die zwei!!! So viel Talent!! Wie er seine Gitarre bespielt Weltklasse ❤
Larry was the show, only started watching these 2 very recently after they poped up on my you tube feed, figured why not watch, well ive since found out Both have passed on,Larry in January, he was such a show man,i read he was like maybe only 11 at this time, such a talent,im hoping hes rocking with the best of them in Heaven❤
With all the energy Larry had, I wonder if he ever tripped over his instrument cable or accidentally whacked his guitar into Lorrie's acoustic.
Larry's love for his sister shines through 💙
But, but, but, I thought someone else invented cool music.
Its obvious which one of their kids the parents let drink coffee.
Elvis could have learned something from that little dynamo.🤗
I am looking at the signed autographs of both Lorrie Larry, which I got in 1993 Hemsby in the UK, RIP Lorrie
They remind me of Les Paul and Mary Ford singing “How High the Moon”!
They're amazing. Never heard of em but judging around that time Rock n Roll was shamed so badly it cost them a good boost to the big league cause thy are pure rock n roll.
So great to see beautiful Lorrie in HD!
Larry was 14 here and already a veteran performer. He was a guitar protégé of the King of the Strings, Joe Maphis, who also performed on this show. Larry's guitar is a Mosrite double neck, the second one ever built. Joe Maphis played the first one. If his high energy hurt the act, Tex Ritter would have had him dial it back a bit. This was in 58, and they were competing with early rock and roll acts. They were a very popular act then.
😅😮😢😅
RIP Lorrie Collins
Wow, so clear, thanks. ! Happy 76th Birthday this week Lorrie, almost exactly 25 years since the Collins Kids first reunion gig anywhere in the world, and we were there, Hemsby UK in May 1993.
Epilepsy is treatable now 🤣🤣🤣
theboy kid play guitar is truly a rock star
Este menino é demais. Estou encantada
Eis aqui o "menino" e a "menina"!
Ele com 62 e ela com 64!!!

I first became aware of the Collins Kids in the documentary "The Women In Rockabilly" that can be found here on UA-cam . Please watch it. They Collins Kids were under contact by Mitch Miller who never quite understood the talent they had to offer. They were not a top priority act for Mitch who spent most of his time producing his own HiFi singalong albums.
mj7den If Sam Phillips at Sun Records, had signed Larry and Lorrie Collins, this amazing sister-brother duo would have rocketed to superstardom. Mitch Miller at Columbia Records was clueless about the incredible talent and unique act of the Collins Kids.
RIP Larry. I first heard of the Collins Kids just over 40 years ago via a rockabilly compilation album and thought who the hell are they and was amazed the boy Larry was about 10. I then had to search for one if their albums. What a dynamo. Both of them so talented and should've been more well known.
Still not too late folks to get one of their albums to have in your possession.
Man! Rock n roll was in it's infancy here, and yet these two are rocking like some only wish they could today! Way to go
Collins kids. Rip.Laurie.
A couple of really talented and dynamic kids.
Lorrie died in 2018 at 76, and Larry died this year at 79. It's hard to believe those young people could be dead. It's so strange our culture where we can see people so alive who are dead.
That boy is great
Is Tex Ritter related to late actor John Ritter
Yes, He was the father of John Ritter
Now I know where Chuck Berry got his moves from.
Wow! Underrated indeed. Thank you!
I don’t know about anybody else ,but I long for those simpler times! Jim
Yeah - great times. All the entertainers and ALL the audience were, of course, white. But let that pass.
Jim Crow enters the chat.
@@fluffy1931 Truth hurts. In 1957, when Frankie Lymon (aged 15) dared to dance with a white girl on The Big Beat, the segregationists of the former Confederacy were so outraged that the show was immediately cancelled. Furthermore, when American Bandstand was broadcast from Philadelphia (1952-64), there was a policy NOT to allow black teenagers into the studio audience because that would upset the sponsors.
simpler times for white people.
RIP, Lorrie.
So THIS is where Judas Priest got their synched guitar movements
Larry was sure talented enough but kind of a novelty thing. At least back then. Lorrie was a legit star. That voice! Shame she didn’t go on to greatness on her own. So beautiful too.
Just irritating to watch
She's gorgeous
Trouves moi aujourd'hui des performers avec ce credo , cette joie et ce talent . Difficile , long live Rock'n'Roll
RIP Lorrie
Dang, those Collins Kids are hep. Love it.
extremely talented but the kid needs to ease up on the caffeine
Америка, которую мы любили и которую мы потеряли.
I first heard this song covered by King Biscuit Boy. The Collins Kids doing it blew my mind.
Yup, that's where I heard it, too. Slightly different vibe ... !
Oh boy, Larry is great guitarist
Парнишке надо совершенствовать игру на гитаре, а не прыгать, как обезьяна
RIP Larry, the great Rose Maddix playing Steel Guitar here.....
they play and sing like gods. and are basically unknown.
That kid belongs in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. Precursor to many of the guitarist of several generations.
