Could vitamin D be a potential natural solution to keeping autoimmune conditions like myasthenia gravis in remission?
    Timestamps
    0:09 What is myasthenia gravis?
0:53 Vitamin D and myasthenia gravis
1:13 Why could vitamin D help this condition?
    2:48 What about hypercalcemia?
Today we’re going to talk about an interesting case study that was done by a Brazilian doctor working with a patient who had myasthenia gravis.
Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease. An autoimmune disease is where you have what they call autoantibodies that are against your own tissues. This particular autoimmune disease attacks the connection between your nerves and your muscles. This creates a lot of muscle problems.
One of the treatments commonly used for this condition is steroids. But, unfortunately, there are a lot of side effects when you take steroids.
This doctor used between 80,000 and 120,000 IUs of vitamin D3 and was able to put this patient’s symptoms in remission.
Vitamin D is hormone-like and acts as a steroid without the side-effects. It also supports the T regulatory cells, which is a part of the immune system that helps prevent autoimmune diseases.
There is a huge connection with a lot of autoimmune diseases and vitamin D deficiency. But, one of the concerns people have with taking high doses of vitamin D is a condition called hypercalcemia. This is high calcium in the blood, which could potentially lead to kidney stones. To lessen this risk, the doctor told the patient to omit calcium from the diet. Drinking 3.5-4 liters of fluid a day could also potentially help lessen the risk of kidney stones.

Thank you so much Dr Berg. I've had Myasthenia Gravis since 1986. My thymus was removed and it went into remission that year. Steroids of course got strength back and saved my life but of course, basketball face, extra weight, mood and sleep problems. Most have gone but need to get back on keto for more healthy weight loss. Thank you for addressing this little known very scary disease. I'm thankful to have survived it. Had the half-shut eyelids, muscles giving way to where I would literally stand up against a wall and slide down it until I hit the ground. You cannot imagine the looks I got from something as simple as not being able to lift one foot to step onto or off of a 6 inch curb without falling. Whew!!! Mestinon was necessary back then. Hugs to anyone dealing with this. ❤️

Karen T my daughter was diagnosed last year right before she was going to graduate from High School. one day she looked fine, the next day she came down for breakfast with a droopy eye. Scared me silly. After a week in the hospital she was diagnosed. She did have an enlarged thymus, they were concerned it could be cancer but more probably related to myasthenia gravis. On 4 July 2019 her thymus was removed robotically and thank god it was not cancerous. About a month after surgery, she went into a horrible flare with a droopy eyelid and double vision. After a course of steroids she was fine. We truly didn’t want her to take them but she was really suffering. Since she has been weaned off of them she hasn’t had a flare. She sometimes has weakness, though. I saw Dr. Berg’s video on Vit D as a natural replacement for steroids and I have been giving to her since then. I truly believe it has contributed to her not having a flare with her vision and droopy lid. It’s a scary diagnosis to have, something not heard of often so we are taking it day by day. Thanks all the way from the Sultanate of Oman for sharing your story and especially to Dr Berg.

@@zojathamed . Very best wishes for your daughter at such a young age. The vitamin D is proving to be a miracle vitamin I think. Although I haven't been on a regimen I certainly will now. I am older was in early 30s, so I'm hearing vitamin D and pure sunshine are the best protectors from Covid also. I was given a drug here in the US, Mestinon, which worked within minutes to restore strength between the nerve and muscle receptors, but does have some stomach side effects. I wish you well with your journey. I honestly believe good diet, low carb and lots of healthy exercise are all key factors, as well as a bright attitude and positive thinking. Work along with rest is also key. 🤗🌞🇺🇸

@@zojathamed Sorry to hear, but glad your daughter is doing better. I've had Ocular myasthenia gravis for 23 months now. I tried mestinon and steroids. None of it worked. Made me feel sick. I've been taking high dose vitamin D along with K2 for about 4 months now and have seen some improvement. I had 2 droopy eyelids, double vision. I now have 1 droopy eyelid, no double vision anymore. And equally as important i no longer live in flight or fight mode. My vitamin D level was severely low at 9ng... Hopefully your daughter can stay in remission. All the best.

I have learned a lot from you and some was also applicable in his case. I cannot thank you inough for that. GOD BLESS YOU!
He now has a diet rich in sprouts, vegierian food and fish. Specially fenugreek sprouts rich in acetylcholineeaterase inhibitor and K2 with D3 have helped him. (His doctor says that vitamin D helps in other autoimmune but not MS ) Which has proved o be incorrect in my spouces case. ( perhaps he was planning to give him cortisone and some new drugs he was doing recerch on !!!)
When he first took medical help His right eye was half closed, difficulty in lifting arms above the shoulder more than 10 times in row, stiff body especially in the mornings and slurry speech.
After 7 months roughly all the symptoms have disappeared. He does not need any medication now.His doctor is so so suprised

Had to wait a couple months, due to a stop to elective surgery during beginning of Covid. Since surgery my symptoms have increased and its depressed me beyond belief. I was tested for Vitamin D deficiency years ago but nobody has tested me since and I had no clue there was a link. I am going to start a regime starting tomorrow! I read this study 1 year ago. I've had ocular myasthenia Gravis for 22 months. My vitamin D was at 9ngs. I took prednisone, and other meds, but didnt work. My eyelids both drooped and I couldn't move my eyeballs. I started high dose vitamin d a few months ago and just 3-4 weeks ago my eyeballs started moving side to side, up and down. Only one of my eyes drops now, not both. Haven't checked my D level yet, but curious to see what it is now. I believe my D deficiency contributed to my myasthenia gravis along with big time stress at my old job. I am now hopeful compared to this time last year.

My doctor wanted me to try a new drug that would require me to go for monthly liver checkups and could put me at risk for cancer. I said no thank you. I'll take my chances with vitamin D and intermittent fasting. So far, so good. One other thing I forgot. I drink organic oregano tea every morning without fail and keep my stress levels very low. I was checked for this condition once, but I was having strange symptoms with my eyes and my opthmalogist was the dr. testing. It was part of the dystonia I had it turned out. I would have periods of time where...everything in my field of vision would break up in little pieces, and start swirling around like blizzard in a snowglobe. It hit once while I was driving had to pull over quickly. Lasted about 30 minutes. Other, milder times, my eyes would feel like they were crossing and painfully so, even though my wife could tell they weren't. Glad that all passed almost two decades ago.

I followed what Dr berg recommended and took vitamin D 15000 iu and vitamin K and started keto and IF

Been fighting symptoms for 4 to 5 years, but this last year has been bad enough docs started to listen and actually found the cause to all my weakness. I have read that Huperzine A can help without all the side effects of the Pyridostigmine for people that have a positive AChR test. Is there any data that Huperzine A would help a MG patient with a positive Musk test? The Pyridostigmine gives me such terrible diarrhea, I have not had a single solid poo in 5 weeks! Anyone have any data, I really feel better with the Pyidostigmine, but the diarrhea is urgent and I still have a day job, I cannot spend half the day on the can. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I will get me some D3 tomorrow. Thanks for all your info,
