    I used to use the side angle on my old laptop setup due to limitations on desk space. Now since when I changed my pc, desk and all the works, I converted it to a more conventional sort of forward face interface and which resulted to my aim to worsen overtime. From watching your video it reminded me on this old technique to switch back and use this and now I can finally see results on my aim improving. Thanks!

      I'm having this issue, where I'm trying to arm aim, but either my chair is too short to my desk and my arms are heavily weighed on it (so i cant move them, or my arms are too sweaty and stick to the mousepad, causing me to be unable to use arm aiming. Even after watching your tips, I'm still struggling to incorporate arm aiming. And then the issue I get is I had carpel tunnel surgery on my mouse wrist, so when I wrist aim, my wrist gets tired after just an hour of playing if that so I can't find consistency anymore. Sad times :( I've spent hours in DM, aim labs etc, just focusing on arm only but I wake up the next day and all is forgotten

    I play with my whole arm on the table and honestly I thought you had two until I saw this. My desk has narrow cut outs for legs so you can't really twist your legs and I can't rotate my body and there just isn't enough room on my mouse pad with my arm fully on it to have a good range of motion. Short of getting a new desk are there any tips you might have? I might just have to switch to a standing desk or something

I just had to rotate the mousepad a little bit to give me the same surface area I have when I'm sitting normally. Another thing is those tables with slight/small half-circle cutouts in the middle so you can better position your body and your whole arm on the table can also help you I guess, but that is short of me saying, get a new desk.

    What are your thoughts on having the back of your palm touching the mousepad? I’ve often wondered if people who use arm aiming keep their palms completely free of the mousepad to avoid friction.

    • @arisen_one625
      @arisen_one625 3 роки тому +1

      Its not a big deal if some palm contact is made. Depending on your mouse and mousepad some friction isnt a bad thing...

    • @TheMeta
      @TheMeta  3 роки тому +13

      Definitely recommend having the base of the palm, and the forearm in contact with the desk. The friction is actually quite helpful. If there is too much friction, an aiming sleeve as discussed in this video may be helpful ua-cam.com/video/7cnjeqLBZ4A/v-deo.html and a better sitting position can also help out ua-cam.com/video/RyhzcJTqxs4/v-deo.html.
      Hovering the palm or arm takes a lot of effort and all it really does it create a great deal of instability and fatigue.

    • @CyberOptek
      @CyberOptek 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheMeta It was very difficult to play for long periods without having the base of my hand rested. I did some testing with this and I wasn't very comfortable. I do think my desk is part of my issue as well....the one I have now has one of those pull out shelves underneath the desk (where my kb/m sits), but what I find is that I have to set my chair very low to get my arms at a 90 degree angle and I end up curling my legs underneath me causing knee pain. If I raise my chair then I'm sitting above my kb/m. This is most likely what is causing me to feel like I have too much friction when my palm is rested.

    @The Meta
    Question: Currently transitioning from wrist (20 years) to arm. Can I use my wrist as a pivot point (putting pressure on the pad) at times if doing small adjustments or just use forearms/arm joint as pivot point?
    I've watched dozens of arm aim tutorial and they didn't mention if the wrist area can be use as a pivot point in micro adjustments on certain occasions. I asking because, using the wrist as pivot point makes it easier for me to aim in small adjustments especially in slow moving targets because I'm a wrist aimer all my life.
    The only problem I've encountered using wrist in conjunction with my arm is the friction of the wrist creates if I want to adjust on bigger swipes or if the ranges is at it's limits.

    • @TheMeta
      @TheMeta  3 роки тому +23

      Actively planting the wrist typically isn't advisable, but most aiming on an actual target is done with the wrist. The forearm is there to get your hand/wrist where it needs to be so it can aim at things.

    How much pressure do you have on your arms?
    Do you have very slight pressure and essentially drop your shoulder and let the arm droop when you are resting?
    Or do you have the edge of the table as the highest pressure area and adjust the amount of wight you apply there?
    Or do you have a fairly firm amount of contact across the entire forearm with slightly more towards the back?
    Finally do you maintain medium level of contact at all times and completely change the possition of your arm when not aiming to rest it?

      Im my opinion, aim trainers aren’t necessarily the thing u need to get good in valorant, yes it will help but, it will be much better to use your perfect sens, map awareness and stuff like that if u do want to get better at just aim, crosshair placement, and map awareness do death match until ur arm breaks and u cry because of how annoying it is. But by the end of it u will seriously see improvement in aim, if u want to get better at abilities go into custom games and try stuff out and see if that helps or watch videos of pro players and see what they do. Hope this helps even though its late.

    You can put your arm on your arm on the table even with wrist aiming. They are not mutually exclusive...

    The claim of wrist aiming being suboptimal is misleading. It's really about personal preference. You can wrist aim with your forearm on the table just fine to the point about tendons is easily avoidable. The decision depends on a lot of factors such as whether you use a heavy or light mouse, how much space you have, what sensitivity or DPI you prefer, what feels more comfortable, what game your playing, and also if you care more about accuracy or reaction time. I personally use a heavier mouse on a hard pad with an edpi of 3200 for csgo and other fps titles and it works perfectly for me. If you need to make wide sweeping motions with accuracy(entry fragging, spray transfers, complex spray patterns) then you'll want to use your arm most likely. If your going to be performing smaller inputs and adjustments(holding angles, insanely fast flicks, and Awping) then wrist aiming will benefit you more. Of course nothing is a hard rule because its really more of what you're personally comfortable with but the majority of players on a competitive level(especially for fps) will use both types of aiming to maximize their advantages and minimize any drawbacks of only using one style. Also if you're playing something like fortnite or minecraft with a building mechanic, then arm aiming is your best bet. Overall tho, you should play around with different styles, dpi, sensitivity, weight, and pad surfaces to find what works for you. If you always follow what everyone else thinks is the best way to do something then you'll never know if YOU could do it better in a different way. You can't break the mold by copying what's popular.
