next video: "how to breath like a professional gamer"
Slippy that would be cool not gonna lie
I sometimes breathe heavier or breathe lesser on intense situations, I somehow think I tunnel vision because of it.
2pongz I personally lightly bite my Tongue a lot while gaming or in intense situations I know this isn’t breathing but it’s something I do
2pongz I meant intense not to put school in
my reply you probably didn’t see the typo anyways lol

I bought your guide TAO CS way back when I first started scrimming in 1.6. Years later while I'm in the peak of my competitive phase my team played vs you in a pug with other CSS pros. We won the best of three very fun games before looking up your steam IDs and discovering your identities. I must say that bo3 was one of the best moments of my gaming life. You're the GOAT and I remember the old days vividly.
Glad to see you making videos to help others to this day, moreso for this topic that younger gamers seriously need to consider. I wish I'd seen this video when I was younger.
Thanks for speaking the cold hard truth about Quake. It is PURE SKILL.
I actually used the "side arm" sitting position when I started out PC gaming naturally without knowing anyone else did it. I simply did it because my desk was a bit to high so I needed to rest my whole arm on top otherwise my forearm would scrape the edge. Since my desk wasn't that deep I just angled everything which led to that style
I bet its a similar reason for the pro who does it.
I love your videos. I competetively play fighters, not FPS games, but your tips on mentality and physical consistency while playing have helped me grow a lot
I'm happy to hear that. Thank you :)
6:08 "Dont be afraid to experiment with your positions". Words to live by.
Hey Ron, I just found your channel. You were one of my idols growing up man back in the prime 1.6 days. I followed you and team3D for years and always looked up to you. Im so glad to have reconnected with you and I dont play cs anymore but Im playig FPS again. Wish you the best.
When one of the greatest Quake players ever has made "over $180,000" over the past 20 years. Kinda sad how Quake was so instrumental in laying the groundwork for competitive gaming yet only was a living or truly a career launching point for a just a small handful of players.
Quake is amazing
yeah, nowadays quake is considered dead by many people. But I think it lives in the form of a game called krunker.io
@@RonRamboKim sure is. sorry I didn't respond on the rest of the video. need to actually practice this stuff.
@@moonpiedumplings3059 hey I play krunker! On my channel and my twitch
This is my most challenging issue when playing games. I have a bad chair, No proper back support as well!
Same
Lmao mate, I don't even have a chair.
for the first sitting position its becuase the computer desk back in the days its so small that only fits a keyboard in the slider.
Wow that mouse arm all the way bend inwards helped me allot with faster aims.
Hey man, would love to see how you sit at your setup and also a video on the way that pros setup their gear on the desk. (or you and your setup). This is something ive been curious about for ages
Cheers
I talk about some of my personal setup in my "How to aim" video
4:12 How i control a spaceship.
After testing sitting styles and how my aiming can get improved, I personally found myself better and more comfortable sitting like s1mple. Mix of arm and wrist aiming with elbow locked on position. My posture though seems fine and better than before as I can achieve playing/sitting more without feeling any soreness. Thanks for the awesome video once again!

@@Korkonakios bro it was just fun i tried to do this and same to u what u said me 👍👎
i have a posture like these quake guys, my friend does too. for my case its because i sat a table that was at a particular L shape that forced me to put my arm infront of the keyboard. for my friend, his usb cable was too short and so he eventually and permanently fixed into an internal rotation, which i think is the main reason because maybe these old box computers gave the same problem
You r next level coach sir. Just admiring the beauty of individuality. ❤🏋️♀️
😀
Mine definitely became the forward leaning position, I used to do the same leaning back playing for so long, but then sat straight up and improved on my gaming, but now it's forward leaning and most of my forearm on the table, also started tilting my keyboard because it isn't a tenkeyless, but just ordered a tenkeyless so I don't gotta tilt it anymore, so hopefully I can see myself improve even more without ruining my wrist with that tilted keyboard
I was literally looking for some advice for a better gaming and hand positioning way for playing Arsenal in Roblox...thx bro
jdm recently stopped lounging, and coincidentally he has also started to try to pick up the rifle.
the quake players are sitting sideways because it allows them to anchor their elbow without having to hunch forward. when sitting normally and not using an armrest for support, your elbow will always stick out a bit.
jdm always makes me lol. my dad and I loved quake and I tried raphas sitting style and I love it, been using it for 5 years :)
I believe JDM has switched to a more conventional sitting style recently.
Yeah I've been using Rapha's sitting position for a long time now, maybe in excess of 5 years and I have a minor disc herniation in my back and this position allows me to keep rested while I play for hours on end. The table height plays a major factor in this though, I need my table height fairly high... basically just below my shoulder if I had my hands under the desk. The downside to this is that if you want a low sens, you can't use a table sized mouse pad. So, that is why I don't go too much higher than 30cm\360 in this setup.
Thanks for sharing
@@RonRamboKim np
the quake style looks like your left to right flicks would be insane but up and down movements look a little harder
The Legends say: "Twistzz eat monitors for breakfast."
i used this coller style when i was younger. now my hand is straight but still my whole hand is on the table
I pretty much okay like that jdm64 guys position. It's the comfiest to sit in for long gaming sessions. Been playing online fps since about 2000.
Jdm64 sits exactly like me, leaning back and low with wrist on the edge of the table at that angle.
The reason those quake players play on a 45 degree angle with their mouse center chest is because that is the most natural neutral position for you arm/hands based on human physiology. It's done for the same reason that classical guitarists use a footstool - it props the guitar up into the center of your chest which allows the hands to operate with ergonomic relaxed ease.
I switched to this mouse position years ago after making the musical connection. My centering, tracking, flicks - everything - improved instantly. Every motion just felt so effortless and natural. It's so good it almost feels like cheating.
You could achieve a similar result with a good monitor arm stand that allows you to have your pad directly under your screen.
I always do the first sitting position when im doing THIS THING other than gaming
I suppose the first position is a bit like how alot of csgo pros have their keyboards near vertical which I think Tarik said was because of the limited space at early LANs and they just got so used to it so he still does it now and every time he wants to type something he moves it back to horizontal. And then back again to continue playing.
put the keyboard on your lap name this style "Quake Russian Style" first who started doing this is Polosatiy (This man winning TDM tournament BWEC 2000 and 2th CPL Cologne 2000) and this is moment this style named Russian, who does not believe I attach a photo www.esreality.com/files/placeimages/2010/77029-polos.jpg
Sitting position also depends on the sensitivity. You get a lot of shoulder movement when you lean forward. But you don't need it if you are playing with just your wrist.
Im suprised this was more than a one step process
Hey, I have an idea for your next video. Something like "how to handle tilt". Also it would be very helpful for me right now . :-)
My "7 tips to reduce anxiety" video may help you. If you have a more peaceful mindset heading into a game, you will more likely tilt less
@@RonRamboKim thanks for your advice.
Moral of the story: sit however it suits you.
I have scoliosis and it sucks as a gamer I always have bad posture just makes me not want to play cuz of my back pain I’ve been trying to improve my posture but I’ve failed every time
Never seen anyone have there keyboard in there lap that’s strange but if it works it works
Ralph’s clearly grew up with a desk that had a pull out keyboard tray that was broken and didn’t pull out
It's Rapha
First position appeared thanks to another russian quake player - polosatiy, once he broke his arm and due plaster on his hand, he couldn't raise his hand and he had to play with the keyboard on his knees and reveals it is very convenient, and there was this position appeared, and cause this position called "Russian style"
How to put your legs when u are playing cs :-)? Cuz im always getting this problem
I often use a foam roller under my feet

I sit like jdm64 during all my competitive matches in all fps shooters. and it took me all the way to move up to a cal-main team during 1.6, i recently have tried to sit straight but it feels off to me, and need to relax and lean back
lmao nickmercs really be face planting his monitor
I need help with aim. How do I track aim a target while controlling for vertical and horizontal recoil.
Zan that comes with grinding the game daily, you can try recoil control maps to train spraying but it mainly comes with experience
I’m 15 and already have a hunch back and back pains
ron rambo kim the guy whos about doing it the right way instead of trying to be right
I sit like jdm because I have to my chair pushes my lower back out and pushes me to lean back
One thing I’ve noticed among FPS players in general is that most of them actually don’t use the arm wrests of their gaming chairs. Anyone know why this is? Do arm wrests actually hinder you?
Ethan Because if you put your arm on the armrest, you won’t be able to move your arm freely
@@J-- I think I somewhat understand. With S1mple though, he has most of his arm on the desk. What's the difference between that and using your arm wrest? Other than his elbow being free.
Ethan It’s also more comfortable. your entire arm will be on the desk unlike the armrest just your elbow. keep in mind that you will sit and play for hours. of course you will seek for the best way to sit.
@@J-- Makes sense. I took the arm wrests off my chair and it is more comfortable for me!
Yo I have a question. If I have a position. And I forgot how it feels like. How would I get it perfectly everytime? Sometimes I might be a few inches away from the keyboard than I was yesterday.
bondik needs to see ophthalmologist right away

LETN-One hahahahahahaha
i totally pulled his pronunciation out of the air 🤣
Wish you would show more conventional and well-tried player postures that will work for the most instead of useless extremes and exceptions.
I never saw shroud sitting like this
where is shroud
Didn't JohnnyR also play similar to Bondik? I remember his CRT being pulled close to the edge of the table and his arms going around the monitor somehow.
I remember JohnnyR but not his sitting style
btw "letn1" is pronounced let-nee
Good to know, thanks
Jdm64 is not in team liquid now
The "quake" sitting position comes from russian internet cafes
Probably. I'm russian, I visited "computer clubs", as they were called in my childhood, and now I also sit in like a 45° angle with my whole arm on the table. Except that I have enough table space to not put the keyboard on my knees.
i thought RAPHA video was old video bcs of his mouse look weird but untill i saw the iphone x
What about repeatability of positions? I've found a simple way to repeat placement of peripherals on the desk, but how to sit with chair in 1 same angle consistently? I know how it feels like, but it's hard to replicate as chair doesn't have any indication, I'm currently searching for indication but it's very limited. Any ideas? I drew lines for perfect keyboard placement so it just hops into it's blueprint and mouse is in same spot too.
Any gaming chairs for floor gang?
Ayy, thanks mr. kim
😊
That fast style is cuz less space i used play lile this and it is totally fine
can you recommend a good high table? that i can rest my forearms on for posture & less back strain

"Its the gaming chair"
so, there are different ppl with different sitting styles but they are all successfull in gaming. what i take away from this is, that it doesnt fucking matter how u sit, as long as it works for you.
Well, it does matter how you sit because it effects body alignments to equipment
@@RonRamboKim wel obviously i dont mean playing upside down with one hand around your back, but in the realm of the possible, general positions it doesnt matter. there is no "best" sitting style, thats what my comment said.
quake players call the first style "russian style" - because of no room at russian lans for desk space

I watched all your videos about consistency,
so I just recently changed my Desk-hight so i sit in a 90° angle with my arms and legs like explained,
from my previous posture were my desk were way higher and i was sitting on my legs and my arms were in a 45° angle to the left and right,
but now im getting upperBack and wirstpain after some time (also my shoulders keeps tensioning up when im not concentrated on them),
is this bc i have to get used to it first or am i doing something wrong?
Now I dont know if i should continue or go back to my old setup?
