  • Today I'm covering 5 lures that I HIGHLY encourage you to try before summer is gone! I've had luck on all of these lures and I want to share that with all of you. I'll explain the rig, the combo that I fish them on, and a tip for each. I've also included on the water and underwater footage! If you're struggling to catch feesh, I'm confident one or more of these lures will help!

I've been having lousy luck, and thought, "Thank GOD! Debo's about to tell me lures I should be using instead of what I've been throwing for weeks!" Turns out, nope; I'm already throwin' 'em. I just gotta git gud. LOL
HUGE thanks from a new(ish) Florida bank angler for the reassurance that I'm not way off! You freakin' rock!

@@DEBOSFishing I'm a life-long Floridian who grew up catching bream (bluegills) from grandma's pond on a Zebco spincast and stale bread. I hadn't gone out in yeeears until a buddy introduced me to a little something called "bass". lol

Just caught my PB here in Texas before a rainstorm on the same whopper plopper you were throwing in the other video. That loon color plopper 90 got me a 5 or 6 pounder!

Caught three today on my black 6th Sense Vega frog. I also had a tug-a-war with a blue heron who thought it looked tasty. He eventually let go, but not before I pulled him about ten feet through the water. (Note: he wasn’t hooked. He just refused to open his beak and let go.)

Loved the format for this one, Debo. The tabletop view takes me back to the knot tying video that introduced me to your amazing channel. When you talk about the combo and line it really helps me figure out which baits I can mix and match on which combos so that I can take only six or seven combos instead of ten when I'm beating the banks (it's funny, but it's also true - lol - thank the feeshin' gods for the Cal Coast Rod Mule!).

Always like to hear when you talk about gear and lures, and especially when you teach. I highly value your opinions and pretty much follow everything you say.
I missed Saturday due to some family stuff I had to deal with, but when I do I always watch it on the flip side.
That was a nice looking reel with the green grips. I don’t remember seeing that one before, and I didn’t think I had missed any of your videos. Thanks Debo!!

I love the gear breakdown after talking about each lure. It helps me understand the rationale between choosing one rod/reel over another. Personally, I only have a small arsenal of rods (2 baitcaster and 1 spinning) but because of your videos and explanation, when I am able to add to my inventory I can do so with a lot more education and knowledge to make a better choice depending on the technique I am aiming for. Thank you for all that you do.

To help out with not losing your chatterbaits around wood cover try using a creature with a wide flat side like a rage bug or jbug with the flat side turned down. Trim off the front legs and shorten to your liking. The flat bottom stops it from rolling on its side coming over wood which drastically reduces hang ups

There's actually a rig where you do use a belly weighted hook for creature baits- it's called "rage rigging"- because most guys use rage craws or rage bugs, any of the rage products. But really you can use any creature bait that has a good kick to it- you just rig it on a belly weighted hook and swim it through and around vegetation or wood. It really works well for me- I've landed some big largemouth doing it. I've even tried it with a big worm- and it worked to. it was a 10" Ole Monster- got a 4 pound pond bass on it. But I've used it in the rivers and creeks as well- it works anywhere. You can swim a craw right through the grass- you just need a heavy enough weight.

One thing this video should teach everyone is always cutting the line off your baits before putting them back in the tackle bag. Almost every lure he shows has a knot and a little tag end of line hanging from it. Guess its my ocd. I got a friend who does this and he'll be fishing with a lure that's got three or four knots on it because he's to lazy to cut the old line off.

I recall a review on that Alloy M and the review mentioned the drag wheel looking similar to what Lews uses. Could be they’re made in the same factory. I’ve seen them for sale for $90 which makes me think, for $10 more, I can get a slx or lfs. Not that it’s not a good reel but I’d rather trust the known rather than the unknown.

I love the Daiwa Fuego spinning reel. I'm using the Daiwa Revros 2500 . I'm also using the Daiwa Laguna 7' One piece Med heavy rod with Power Pro 10# braid to a Seaguar fluorocarbon leader. I prefer something like that when there's no money on the line. I use it & a Lew's Mach Smash spinning combo in 7' too. Both of those will handle anything I throw at em. There's also 2 Daiwa Whiskers SS 1300 both on 7' Daiwa Laguna spinning rods and I use them when it's a serious long cast. They are deadly. And Yes I am a Daiwa fan!!!

With the right fish under the right conditions braid always breaks no matter the brand. When a fish is turned running away from you and especially in current like spillways or river sholls if you use braid you'll get broke off. Unless you only catch little fish. I fish the greenup dam for hybrid stripers a lot and those fish will snap any brand 80# braid the second they hit. Without a shock absorber like a soft rod or at least a mono leader you're not getting those fish in. Imagine standing next to the freeway and snagging your line on a car going by at 50mph. That's what a hybrid does when they hit your bait.

@@EliteNugz True, but he said he broke off two fish and I thought I might want to avoid it if it appears to be inferior

Some crummy Dominate braid off of Amazon. I also used the Power Pro Maxcuatro. Not good for the heavy stuff IMO but great finesse line.

hey debo, can you a video about tuning buzzbaits to swim right? i've bought like 5 different buzzbaits (strike king, booyah, googan, cumberland) and they all roll over on to their side during the retrieve. i'm sure i'm doing something wrong, but just can't figure out the buzzbait
