Great video. You have presented a lot of practical, real world advice. Long ago, I had the opportunity to save the life of a motorcyclist who had just been in an accident. He had a punctured femoral artery, which was rapidly spurting a lot of blood. About training….I ran a patrol dog/ Explosives dog…and the number one comment was how do you make him behave so well …my response was training everyday. i would tell people that all it takes is 5 minutes a day for a house pet to be well behaved and the excuses I got about how they don’t have 5 minutes a days were ridiculous….great show first time viewer….subbed

Not very refined or pretty but I fell in love with the solar G-Shock model. Not very pretty but I can just throw it on my wrist and basically forget it. It basically takes care of itself. First by automatically charging itself to automatically resetting the time at midnite every day. Heck, I don’t even have to manually illuminate the dial when I need it. Just a simple twist of my wrist and she lights up. I have been wearing the same watch problem free for 5 years and have another brand new one just waiting to replace my all blacked out model if and/or when it ever starts giving me problems but so far so good. It’s kind of a beast in that it still looks as ‘good’ as it did the day I first strapped it on despite the fact that I am in construction and I have never been what you would consider ‘careful’ or ‘gentle’ with it even having to dig asphalt out of the clasp a time or two, lol! Even tho I take my phone everywhere I think I’d be lost without one on my wrist. The very little time I have spent not wearing it, I felt naked and unprepared without it on my wrist. Still do
Wow I can only infer that a vigilant people make for a strong nation.Cool interview because these are God fearing men and hearing them share so much vital information is awesome.
18:10 As a 21+ year and counting cop, and firearms instructor, the biggest thing I see civilians screwing up is knowing use of force laws. I don’t know how many civilians say something like “if I had my gun I would have shot them” or something to that effect. Well buddy, then based on what you told me you would be going to jail. I just had a guy tonight tell me that he would have pulled his gun on a guy hitting his car with his fist. SMH.
As a 20 yr plus street cop in a sanctuary city, I could write a book on what people say. I absolutely hate it when a mom with her small child walks over to me and says, “if you don’t be good, that cop is going to lock you up!”. My reply goes like this, “no son I won’t lock you up. You’re only 6 years old. But what I will do is walk y’all across the street to child social services and get your mommy here some classes on how to parent. I have six kids I don’t threaten my kids with a cop arresting them. It’s called being a parent.! Then I high five the kid and say. “Be a good boy, and you can be a good cop like me someday! “. Nothing like trying to scare your kid with police. Setting the hook to hate cops at an early age.
@@sgteduardo2146I never thought about it that way.
I absolutely love this EDC videos!
As a viewer and nothing else, this felt (to me) to be the most honest, real, and truthful segment (podcast or whatever) anywhere.
More educational that any other interview I’ve ever seen (here or otherwise).
My stop the bleed course I took was free. A lot of the shooting/training classes I’ve taken have only been 100 to 150 dollars. Worth every penny
I took a course as an EMT and came away thinking they need to teach bleeding courses in health class in every HS in the country
@@KaiTakApproach Agree. They should!
Went to a Stop The Bleed class. I’m grateful for the knowledge. I hate the idea of being stuck in fear, and unprepared at a time of crisis instead of being able to move with the knowledge I’ve learned. Buck & Does, San Antonio, Texas.
I have never heard anyone say that a watch is only a bartering tool when you don't have cash. I will never be able to look at a watch the same way now. that's badass
Shawn told this years ago.......
@@bideni408 whatepisode
Shawn has said it a few times, he used to keep a Rolex just as a trade item - better than cash he claims
@chef_hood i think when he spoke with that man who infiltrated in cartels , Shawn remembered how when he was in some dangerous place ( México or Colombia, dont Remember), he carried a Rolex " because when they see someone in dangerous place with a Rolex they think that he is dangerous, dont touch" but also, he explained that this was a common thing in the soec ops community, instead of money, carring a Rolex because everybody in the world knows this name and if an operator is Lost in land, he would can buy a car,or truck,or help.....
@ZacharyCox ive been watching since mid 30's and personally have never heard him say that. I'm not saying he hasn't just saying this was my first time hearing it, and it's a great way to think.
He's 100% right about getting someone detained fast. The more time you give them to think before you detain them, the more dangerous it becomes.
Should have posted the prayer. A LOT of your viewers would have appreciated it.

2 very humble but extremely capable Gentlemen coming together in a superb piece of content. Brilliant interview, 25 minutes of fantastic viewing. Thanks Guys…..🙏🏻
When Shawn laughs, it cracks me up. You can't tell me Shawn isn't a good guy.
Had to rewind when he was talking about the Nomadic watches from Belfast as I’m watching this in Northern Ireland. Very cool. Great as always Shawn.
@ yes, I hate when parents say crap like that. Stay safe Brother
@@sgteduardo2146I never thought about it that way. I have a friend her kid is scared of police idk why she doesn't know why maybe he saw something that scared him at a really early age and he's not that old he's like 4-5 yrs old and I been trying to get into law enforcement and now I'm wondering if he'll be scared of me if he ever sees me in a uniform cus he likes me rn 😂

Let's face it and you all saw it. How interesting and meticulous this guy is. Genuinely measured and well articulated. A credit!

I asked a cop friend of mine what he fears most when dealing with violent people and he said, without a doubt, knives. He said that someone with a knife that knows how to conceal it and use it is far more dangerous than someone with a gun. Since then I've been taking fighting knife training classes.
Shawn can you put links to the tools and tourniquets that were talked about on here please
Thank you for recording history and making sure these amazing humans stories are told
Just want to thank you for this! It just reminded me of how important someone like this young man is! Someone exactly like this young man saved my Sergeant’s life! Had he not been there and been prepared there is no way my dear Sergeant would be here!
Just saying my thanks. Stay great SRS.🙏✊🙌🇺🇸
Dudeeeeeeee. What a fucking gift. Imagine going on a podcast and the host gifts you a Sig Sauer Legion….my fucking jaw would drop. One hell of a gift. You’re a class act, Shawn. Same to you Jason (from Sig).
I'm with this dude on the Leatherman! So many applications!
The Leatherman products are amazing. I got one for a stocking stuffer. I don't leave home without it. I run a horse farm and it's my go to....
And my understanding is they'll send you a broken tool replacement, I think, or replace the whole device, for life. Swapping is possible thusly if you want to upgrade to suit, or have spare parts...
China Amazon isn't doing THAT. I think.
@Madasin_Paine yep! Swiss Army knifes don't swap out. Leatherman is the best. I've been using the for over 20 years.

I'd be a tad disappointed to be sitting in that seat and have Shawn say, "Everybody gets a gift..." and *only* get gummy bears.
"Bro, where's my Sig, too!?" 😄
I always say the same thing, ..what a disappointing 😞 experience , to get Gummy bears instead of a nice pistol 🔫..pewww pew

This has been a profound show, thank you very much for your service and also thank you for what you've done for your community as a police officer and good luck throughout your life.
30 + years in security and corrections.
Many training classes in firearms , self defense , first aid.
Like he said, you have minutes to save yourself or someone else.
Constant training until it is muscle memory.
Amazing that you are now getting LEOs on the show. Be cool to see someone that has experience in Corrections/Prison System. I worked in a State Prison for 8 years. Be cool to hear from those with that kind of background.

Thank you for the EDC breakdown! All the restraints highlights a level of situational awareness that I hadn’t considered until now

That's why he's poor 🤣

I love that he isn’t afraid to admit some situations are just easier to barter out of. In no way do I believe this dude would just fold in any situation but being clear headed enough and humble enough to know when to engage or not engage what a beautiful balance of strength and intelligence. A lot of people would put themselves and others at risk just to prove alpha status or some shit like that. Inspiring dude , I was instantly impressed.
