I was one of the Dr.’s at NNMC Bethesda when he came in. I was always humbled to treat these men whether at NNMC or WRAMC(now closed due to BRAC). I can honestly say whenever a code blue was called on any warrior at NNMC Bethesda or WRAMC, as a Doctor I ran at a dead sprint and fought at their bedside or the head of their bed in the operating room with everything I had to save these honorable warriors. My peers also gave everything they had. I was infected from a casualty while fighting to stop a common carotid bleed at the bedside of one gravely wounded warrior after the clot on his right main carotid artery gave way while the Surgical ICU nurse was changing his dressing. I didn’t have time to put on me PPE or he would have exsanguinated in the SICU. The infection made me severely septic, I nearly died and I nearly lost 19 feet of small intestine. Since then I have nearly died 5 times, suffered a heart attack, liver and kidney failure AND I wasn’t shot 27 times and still fighting with just a sidearm against two rifle armed cowards!!! I was just fighting to stop a potentially fatal bleed. Even though my life has changed and I can no longer work as a Doctor, it was worth it because the young man/warrior lived. From what I heard, 50 cent got shot with a .22; pussy. This beast of a man took 16 penetrating rounds and an additional 11 rounds to his body armor. I say this with all possible respect, Mike Day is such a bad ass, he got a vasectomy via AK47. This man should never have to buy a drink for the rest of his life. I wish I was a rich man, I'd buy this guy a truck, a gun, anything he wants.
@Fidel Cashflow You assume I am white because I don't look up to 50 cent. Tell you the truth, I don't give a damn about the man. If it was a 9, then ok. I just heard differently. Shows how much I give a shit, I couldn't care enough to research it on my own. But you are right, according to Wikipedia that is. But to look up to a person for what he has done in his life and what he has gone through, I look up to people like this man, Mike Day, not someone like 50 Cent.

US airforce and navy will dispatch of the Chinese Air Force, once air superiority is established, a ground assault to remove AA defences, once complete, it becomes target practice for the US, the Spartans made millions into thousands, the approach remains the same, one highly trained man will out fight and outwit 20 times his own.
@@williamknifeman7330 Tell me, how you going to clear up the nuckear fallout over california and Washinton DC from chinese nukes...? Hmm. Keep dreaming Internet warrior.
Ritland is a great interviewer---he asks all the right the questions and gets just intrusive enough to keep the audience hooked.
💯
He just asked closed end questions the whole interview. Mike Day was struggling with him.
Another fantastic chat with another of America’s finest. From across the pond in the uk I thank you for your service and sacrifices for making the world we all live in a little safer.
Best comment I’ve read all day. The world isn’t as bad as the news makes us think. Glad to see the UK supporting our troops.
RIP Mike Day. Your nation is proud of you.
And for all the other Mike Days out there, know that a nation loves you so fight through those dark thoughts. Relationships can be mended if you're there tomorrow. Seek help, a pastor, priest, rabbi just anything but that
Not one to comment on social media. Only 105 minutes in and felt compelled to say this. The humility of MD is a breath of fresh air considering his military experience & career. The way you(MR) are able to help him navigate with your line of questions thru those difficult and trying times that help paint a real picture for us "civilian asshole's out there" (lol) is masterful! Big fan love then content. keep it rollin.
Nate, well said!
Thumbs up!
True that
dude tries to fight his dad at 5 years old while protecting his Mum. Already a hero. At 5. Top lad.
The government can't keep kids safe from garbage parents but they can make us PAY to catch a fucking fish and enforce that... they don't care about US they care about our money that they extort from us. The good Ole US corporation of America!! (P.S. insurance is exactly the same as a ponzi scheme yet nobody bats an eye)
Shame he took his own life a few weeks ago
I said several prayers for Mike during this podcast. He is a good man.
After the years, i often come back to this Podcast. Its still Kicks ass
Rip Mike Day
Mr. Ritland, this has been and always will be one of my favorite "Mike Drop" podcasts. I'm back to listen to it again after learning of Mr. Day's passing... Thank you for your remarkable service to our nation and rest easy, sir. 🇺🇸🙏🏼🇺🇸
Mike is one of my favorite Combat Veterans, humility, down to earth, the real deal. God bless you.
Thank you Senior Chief Day for sharing your story. I too was humbled by the amount of jumps you have done, cut aways you have experienced, bullets that went through you and the long recovery process. Good luck in your next chapter! Awesome story! Mike Ritland thanks again for providing a well thought out, interesting, ruff around the edges, interview! In all an inspiration for me!
Wow... kinda speechless what a human can endure in one lifetime!!! Just learned a life lesson in this podcast.... that would be....
"Don't ever complain about how hard you had it"!!!!
Shame Mike Day could never get the demons out. Recently took his own life. War is hell
He probably had PTSD before he was even 14. This man has been through some rough stuff!!
Chris Martin PTSD gets PTSD from him.
no such thing as ptsd. It's a western concept not recognized in any other country to sell more pills
Jim A ignorant comment
His biography would make a great film.
Shame his demons stayed in him until he killed himself recently
RIP Mike. Thanks for the interview Mr Ritland
The intro alone makes me give a thumbs up to every one of Mike's podcasts - when he has a guest like Mike Day, I want to give it ten thumbs up
As much else as there is that I’d like to say, especially having been devastated by finding out about Mike’s death and that, selfishly, I’ll never have the chance to meet Mr. Day:
After finally finding and listening to this interview, I’ve decided I’m frickin going to pick up where Mike left off and get to as many of those ancient sites as I can, in his name and honor; F all the bs.
Thank you, to Mike Day, for your time and influence, here in this realm; may the universe bless you with peace.
And, thank you, Mike Ritland, for getting Mr. Day on your show and blessing us by helping share his story, personality and overall chill disposition/demeanor.
As a couple great warriors told me in the past: “We need good guys here too.”
Stick it out… breathe - deeply and calmly… and take care, all.
This time will pass… and it can and it will get better… make short and long goals and focus on them.
Namasté, homies, for real. 😓🤙🏽
Many thanks for immortalizing Sr. Chief Mike Day for future generations to be able to know the sacrifices that he, you & your Teammates made so that they can sleep peacefully at night.
May he find more peace at rest than he found in life~
RIP Brotha🇺🇸👊
RP
Even more grateful for this interview. RIP to a great American.
You’re one hell of a role model, Mr. Day.
I appreciate you.
Thanks for doing these for us, Mike!
RIP Michael Day........may the sun shine gently on your face, and the winds be at your back, always. Hooyah!
I wish Roy benavidez was still alive to do a podcast like this
Thought about him the moment I read the description, hell of a story, him spitting blood in the medics face
Amen
KiLLeR hANdS2 he was from hometown I was just a kid when I first heard about him. He died before I realized the significance of what he went through
Chapman. And those lost. As hell stared they did not run nor hide.
A really overlooked hero in every sense of the word. I was hoping Clint Eastwood would take him on.
The man's story is phenomenal. There's so much the average American doesn't know! I would like to say what a great interviewer you are. You made sure to catch every drop of the feelings and emotions and to take time so the average Joe can understand what was happening throughout. Thank you for your service and your journalistic skills. Great job!!
I don’t know what to say. I was glued to my screen. You have lived a crazy sad amazing life. Much respect to you. You are a hero and a role model for so many young people.
"Trauma Does Transfer". Excellent dialogue between 2 warriors. Mad Respect.
Mike is a class act!! They way he interviews people is absolute genius how he leads the convo!!
And this was a tough one. Not because of Mike Day himself but because you can see, hear, and feel the emotions. Yet, he has so much self control and is so humble. Ritland was able to guide the conversation masterfully. They both deserve the utmost respect.
Damn it Mike, we needed you more here than there, but the pain... it finaly went away. See you in the other side
“I got shot 9 times.” 50 cent
“Hold my Jack Daniels...” Mike Day
😂😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂
@Fidel Cashflow who's the racist? You sound very foolish.
@Fidel Cashflow lmao nobody cares about 50cent and if you really think we're jealous your extremely delusional.
“Reset me, Mike”... damn it. That gave me chills.
Yeah I got a little choked up when that happened. Just two amazing people
Do you remember at what point in the video he said that? I was waiting for it but didn't catch it. Thanks!
AutoTech 3 I remember it being around the 1:22 mark.
AutoTech 3 Twice I think 1:11:00 ish and 1:22:00 ish
Yeah that hit me hard both times...
This dude is a total pipe hittin Frog! Amazing!!
Thank You and all like you that protect and defend our way of life!!
This guy is amazing! I hope Mike Day does everything he feels he needs to do and goes all the places he wants to go. Good dude.
Dang Mike, you worked hard in the interview! Pulling out more detail, and meanings of used Acronyms! Great work, keep it up!!
This was the first podcast that got me started listening to Mike Drop. It's a shame and extremely heartbreaking to hear the news this morning. My heart goes out to all the warriors and there families dealing with this silent issue. RIP to a true hero.
I gotta tell you Mike, us civilians appreciate you explaining things in laymen’s terms and interpreting the ‘operator speak’ for us
On average 16 veterans die by suicide every day. We need better programs to help our vets.
Rest In Peace Mike Day
That stat is fucking crazy. These men should be looked after and have been left out to dry. If there is a Vet reading this and feels he can't go on pls ask for help and give it one more day
He died??????
@@tacticalbt1023 In March of this year unfortunately.
Awesome interview, wish I was a 25% of what these men are. Just amazing people. I know they hear it all the time, but thank you for what you do and did.
@Mark Rodriguez stop wishing you were 25% of what these men are. Start becoming these men.
I joined the military at 26. I'm a PT stud despite being older than most everyone.
It can be done
Only saw this today - this Man has my deepest respect; I have never seen a man with SO much pain in his life, manage to carry on without turning seriously psychopathic. I salute him and wish him every blessing for his life from now on.
Man this guy went through it, pretty tough to listen to personally. Guy must have some demons. Hope he’s found some peace.
My appreciation from me and my family to all that served and sacrificed for this beautiful country.... God bless America!!!!!!!
Wow, somehow I stubbled onto this channel... and Bang, F-ing amazing.
A Hero with a Hero story, and a dude who can interview better than almost anyone on TV.

He's not home for a week and the bear still isn't going to chance moving.
So many of the hardest men on the planet, seem to start life, having to fight early, in some way or another.
There are some that are completely the opposite and had great starts in life. But I hear what your saying. I've just met men that were complete sweethearts and would avoid hurting anyone but if they had to were more capable then most people. If you
Rest In Peace, warrior. Tragic loss. We need to do more for our combat veterans.
I really do pray Mike Day can find some peace!
This man will find his own peace - the ULTIMATE self starter.
Thank you Mike Day for all your sacrifices! Praying for you and your family
My heart aches for you. My father too has schizophrenia and my soul understands the struggle. I had to move to another state in 2018 to take care of myself from him. Being 30 now, I have a much better understanding, but the memories will always be there. Bless you.
Mike, it has been a while since I have been so emotionally charged by one of your podcasts. I highly respect you. Thank you for this opportunity to hear his story.
devoted2you88 thank you for sharing. I hope you’re doing well.

Man what a story! You can tell it’s uncomfortable for him to talk about and almost like it gives him anxiety.Mike does a great job as always with the interview.God bless you all for your service and sacrifices made by you and your teammates 🇺🇸
I’m lost for words. An amazing soul that has gone through so much in his life. I wish him nothing but happiness and love . Really made me feel humble.
You probably have heard this a lot but, sincerely, God Bless You Sir and Thank You For Your Service.
Life has thrown Mike Day some of the toughest challenges it can throw. Mike Day is still on that bull. Keep on truckin Mike. You’re a treasure of experience.
Thank you for your guys service to our country. I got a chance to read your book about navy seal dogs and it was amazing and unrivaled. Thanks for bringing on just truly amazing people and sharing their stories it has changed my life for the better in so many ways.
This is very heavy watching this. I am not even a veteran of some sort. This guy would be remembered and missed. Thank you for your service. RIP. :(
Best podcast on UA-cam mikes interviewing skills are always on point regardless of the guest
Agreed^
He's the best
I forth that! 🤣
The reason we are all safe and have a good life is from men like you guys who put up with so much shit just to do the right thing and pretty much take the world on yourselves.
Mike Day seemed kinda uncomfortable for the first half of the interview...I'm not sure why, maybe it's the camera and mic in his face and being asked to spill his guts on everything he has ever done. But he still seemed overly anxious?!
Thanks for defending the Western World and seems like you had a blast doing it!
Preach on! These men are incredibly skilled, humble, and real. I feel so lucky to the option have humans like this in my ear, sharing their knowledge and experiences, truly inspiring and comforting knowing there are more like them out there.

RIP Mike Day! I hope you found the peace you so rightfully deserve. The world is a lesser place without you. God Bless family and loved ones
This guy has to be the toughest military guy ever. John Wick, John Wayne and Chuck Norris all rolled into one couldn't carry this guys canteen! This is a cool humble guy that is a true bad ass!
John Chapman, as well. Some tough as nails people.
yea no shit lol. those are hollywood characters. FAKE
THANK YOU to the courageous men of our special operations units. You are all heroes, and Mike is a badass! Much love!
He ended up killing himself. Man this world is tragic.
I recently started listened to the Mike Drop podcasts and I’m loving them. Thanks for asking your guests to explain what a lot of things are for example the jumps, as it’s something I know nothing about. Really interesting. I enjoy listening to stuff I know nothing about. Listening is learning to me. Your a good man Mike Day. Thanks for sharing your story.
He should be awarded medal of honor.what a man. He is an inspiration, a tough guy.salute to him
i agree
Love your podcasts and it’s such a privilege to get to know your guests and about their lives. I’m sad that I got to know about Mike Day after he passed away however listening to him and his life has been amazing. He’s been through so much and fought through it all. What a warrior! RIP Mike! Nice to see people paying respects but damn it is sad man. Rest in Power Mike Day

One of the most powerful interviews I have ever seen.
I like when Mike is telling his story and ask Mike too reset him...This guy really has the heart and talent as a really good interviewer !
I noticed the same thing, soo coo.
A great story. How humble this guy is. Truly a hero and a brave patriot. 🇺🇸
This was a great interview. Thank you so much for being willing to share the experiences of your life sir. It has a grounding effect for me and gives me a greater perspective. I hope it does the same for others. I pray that God will bless you and your family. Thank you both for your service.
Legit guys. Glad your on our side. Thank you couldn't describe my gratitude . Truly.
Listening about his injuries, I realize what a complete sissy I've been about old football injuries.
Silvadene is awesome stuff! Thanks for everything guys! I served onboard the USS Saratoga with F-14 squadron VF-103 during Desert Storm.
I listened to this episode several years ago and again today. My condolences to the family and to the community of warriors that knew him. Go out and buy his book!
How do you feel about him leaving his kids behind
Who the hell do u think u are to ask that? Do better.
Wow his story is just so powerful. We are all blessed the have heroes like mike defending our freedom. I live a free life thanks to the sacrifices mike and many other have made. I am grateful of that and I will not take that freedom for granted ever again. Thank you mike for your service and your story.
