Mike Drop Podcast Episode 52: Eddie Gallagher - Retired Navy SEAL

  • Arguably the most polarizing story in the history of the SEAL Teams, the war crimes accusations surrounding Eddie Gallagher have made it a tumultuous story for our entire nation. The president intervened when pre-trial confinement protocol wasn’t being followed, the media has portrayed a narrative and perspective, now it’s time to hear Eddie’s side of the story.
I sat down with Eddie face to face, and wanted to get all of the questions I think most of us have answered. Irrespective of what side of the fence you sit on, listen to the whole thing and get all sides before you judge.

Mr. Shawn Ryan, I just finished watching the 5 and 1/2 hour interview you had with Eddie, you did a very good job letting Eddie speak without interrupting and you asked very good questions. Gallagher’s story was shocking and horrifying. thank you for giving Eddie a platform to get his story out 🙏🏼

@Holland Karoly a lot easier to speak from the outside looking in. Ironically the people who snitched on him only did so after 6 months when they knew he was deploying with them again and in a leadership position and made requests to have him pulled, when they had no leverage they made leverage. How does a guy with integrity his whole career do a complete 180 in front of civilians, his platoon and Police forces in the day and age of rising social media platforms, I call bullshit on the people who clicked together to bash his name and strip his chances at a silver star, especially when a OIC told these people examples of ways to get rid of EG. You talk about this guy but what about the poor toxic leadership of people who never even faced the fucked up system of ROE but have the balls to criticize others for making quick life or death situations. Also there isn’t a single picture of him holding a decapitated head.

@Holland Karoly You are an idiot-I guess the term” innocent till proven guilty” doesn’t mean anything to you with your twitter logic. Like seriously the guys who ratted him out of wouldn’t even go to the preliminary trial. They refused-probably cause there story won’t add up. Also dumbass the NCIS couldn’t even keep the story straight. Lastly why tf did they wait till 6 months after he got back to report this? None of it’s suspicious to you( I guess u hate trump so much that it has override your logic)

Mike Ritland, brother I’ve been doing criminal interviews my entire career and did a stint in new hire interviews and after all the damn classes I’ve done and great interviewers I’ve had as role models I’ve got to say you’re a natural and great interviewer. You keep the flow perfect and let your interviewee talk. You get the info and keep it moving. I usually can’t watch long form interviews so easily but this one went by in a breeze. After hearing all the media talk of Chief Gallagher it’s really amazing to have the opportunity to hear the facts and get to know the guy in such a believable no bullshit platform. Thanks for doing these videos, much appreciated from the civilian side! After watching this interview I find myself completely convinced Chief Gallagher is a great American, a patriot, and one hell of a military man. I’ll also ad, I’ve been through hundreds of hours of deception detection training from both federal and local law enforcement training sources. I’ve conducted over a thousand interviews/interrogations and put that training to use and while I’m not the expert be all or guru of deception detection I would definitely say I’m above average experienced and trained on bullshit filtering. I did not for one second see anything or hear anything to think Chief Gallagher was anything but completely honest with you. In fact I would even use parts of this interview to show text book behavior in an interviewee telling the truth. Blown away by the quality of this interview, and my heart hurts for Chief Gallagher and what he went through. Thank you both for being who you are and giving us civilians access to this material.

Unquestionably the most gripping, corner-turning and gut-wrenching podcast I have ever listened to. I sat on the fence throughout the nearly three hour interview, determined to be ambivalent and open minded about who Eddie Gallagher really was: monster or master manipulator. I'm not even a true Trump supporter but this has made me sit up and pay attention. I think POTUS did the right thing without any legal reason for doing so. How uncanny that his emotional hunch and eventual actions have given Gallagher justice by default. It has exposed the deep-seated corruption within the ranks of the "unchecked". The self-serving that are supposed to be the leaders, masters of the elite, above everyone else, yet proving their status as not even worthy of the common good they are supposed to serve and uphold. There are grey areas in every story, but Mike has punched holes through this one without being biased. He has given Eddie Gallagher a moment in the "public" court and what he's just delivered is clear-cut, black and white. For an ex-journalist like myself, I find this fascinating, spell-binding and I can't wait to hear the next instalments.

Gotta admit the way Mike Ritland asks questions that could “benefit” opposing thoughts is pure genius. Never once is it disrespectful but purely to understand both sides of this shitty ordeal. Gallagher is exactly what I would hope is at the front line or a couple hundred yards behind it taking the fight to these evil bastards who want to kill anyone who doesn’t believe the same as they do. Mike Ritland keep up the good work and Eddie Gallagher, glad to see the worst is behind you!

My hat's off to you Mike for promoting having an informed decision. In our Jerry Springer culture (fueled by emotion and sensational click-bait - BLECH!), it's extremely refreshing to know that you're creating a platform for thinking people. I listened as you and Mike Glover discussed this issue and respected the way that you gathered tertiary info and perspective ahead of time, and you hit it on the head when you said to Eddie that since Trump got involved, some folks will get wet-brain about this issue. I'm an Independent and am loyal to issues vs parties, and I love that there's a channel that promotes critical thought. Bless you for being a beacon of rational thought! I learned from my papa (who was a fighter pilot, Vietnam vet and Bronze Star recipient) that Big Military was not to be trusted when they lied about troops being in Laos, so while I'm sorry for all warfighters who get screwed by The Brass, I'm not surprised when I hear of these betrayals. Much respect to the Gallaghers for focusing on exposing the layers of duplicity ... that's how we heal from trauma: we find what we *can* do and we do it in spades, and if others can be served by those efforts, that's all the better. Seems like this couple has all that they need to thrive through this betrayal. And much respect to you for not caving to the pressures from other SEALs to form an opinion prior to having access to the whole picture. I hope that your parents are proud of the honorable guy they raised.
