Shark Attacks- Great White Shark, Blue Shark, Tiger Shark Unidentified Male, Godfrey Msemwa, Gregory Beneche, Mike Bruton, James Orlowski, Akira Tsuchiya, Mrs DF Gunn
Boy, some of those sharks are pretty serious when they want you outta their yard. Nothing like a salt water pool in the backyard to avoid getting blasted by a White Shark.
It looks like there were 10 attacks in Tanzania in 2000. 5 of which were fatal. The most recent attack prior had been 1961. Definitely curious to know more about this cluster.
I almost forgot about a recent attack in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 where a guy fell off the dock into shark infested waters. He survived, but his leg was torn up. The pics are pretty graphic after he got sewn up
He only got bit once or twice too, read the report where the doctors who sewed him up said the bite to the upper leg missed the femoral artery by centimeters
Great show Hal. Kris (shark bytes) made a show on shark behavior and the Moon. I wonder how many shark attacks occur during full moons. Humans and animals can be affected by the Moon phases. So it makes sense that sea creatures and fish could have changes in their behaviors also. I agree with your "desperate shark" theory, especially in areas that have been over fished.
I bet quite a few. The GSAF incident files always note the moon state at the time of the attack. Off the top of my head I can recall reading quite a few attacks that occurred during the waning gibbous phase, which is when the moon is going from full to half.
@@Professional_Victim_H8er I'm thinking when there is any light in the sky at night, it would make spotting anything at the surface worth exploring, hence more attacks.

@@brianjacob8728 I'm slightly doubting they were blue sharks. especially Akira Tsuchiya's attack. It's not impossible that these were blue sharks. But I'd say its unlikely.
Maybe the authorities didn’t want to say it was a great white or tiger shark, because that would seem like less of a “fluke” or an “accident?” They didn’t want to scare people away from the beaches?
I'd love it if relatives or friends, or even the person themselves, would watch the show, and update us all on outcomes of attacks, particularly the anonymous ones! Another great show Hal,, now paddling is out! 😂
My mother is from Calabria (the toe of Italy) and I swam there plenty of times during summer time, so I was surprised by the story of this episode’s first attack in Nicotera (known for mafia attacks, actually “N’drangheta” as they are known there, more than the ones perpetrated by sharks) but in the past white sharks were seen at times in the straights of Messina, which divide the peninsula from Sicily. Now large shark sightings are very rare there and also in the Med in general
How many lives have changed since you started your channel Hal? I mean, people who have decided they don't want to be shark bait and will not go in the water again?? I know I'm not going to! Its the pool or the bath for me 😊 still my favorite channel here. Thank you for all the horrible stories, and the great ones with your antics fishing with your Dad ❤❤
competition for food and lack of it in the reunion island area could definitely be factors. warmer waters are more shark infested. more sharks less food choices = greater chance of a human becoming dinner.
Reunion Island definitely has a disproportionate amount of fatalities to their attacks but it’s not surprising. There are a large number of big bulls and tiger sharks in the waters around Reunion. The is a reef with a big drop off not too far from the shore. Until recently, shark fishing was prohibited. Add that to overfishing, a small remote part of the world with very few to no trauma certified physicians and not the type of medical facilities and infrastructure we are accustomed to is a bad combination of factors that will usually lead to poor outcomes in a shark attack situation.
I’m always cheered up when I see Hal, even though these stories are scary but informative. Don’t be scared be prepared- if you go in that water, consider your life might be on the line.
It seems like there are no resident pinnipeds on that side of the Indian Ocean and African continent where Reunion Island is located, and there are vast stretches of open ocean. I’d imagine sharks are very hungry by the time they hit Reunion Island on their migratory patterns after living off of fish only as they swim through the Indian Ocean. There are also saltwater crocodiles around Australia, Indian, and Sri Lankan waters, so if they’re migrating from those areas over to Reunion Island, their prey might have been limited by that extra competition.
Hal, I just got back from Australia and actually went into a shark cage, but unfortunately no white pointers showed up. South Australia 2 1/2 hours boat ride off Port Lincoln Australia.
Hi again, Hal. Thanks for another video. I've always been very curious about the blue sharks because I typically don't hear much about them, regarding attacks on humans, so it's extra interesting when you bring those up.
They’re usually deep water sharks that like cooler water temps. Not often do they collide with bathers. I’m sure there’s times they’ve bitten and injured spear fishermen or maybe commercial fishermen get a bite from one taking them off the line or out of their nets etc. also I didint think they got quite that big. 10’ seems pretty large for a blue shark. But I usually think of them in the 5-8’ range
