Miss the inky black night sky FILLED with stars, and the, yes truly, turquoise green blue water...when the sun shines, almost always, it is like diamonds. Truly lovely. Living there... civilization is hours away. By the way, USED to love the water, snorkeling was fabulous. Until the time I came face to face with a shark down in Ramrod. Thinking a tiger or a bull... Walked on water back to the boat. Have NOT been in the water since... it's been over 15 years ago. Love your channel!

Hi! First vid of yours I have seen. Thank you for doing all this. The Heather Boswell story. I remember it well. She is my age and I connected in that regard with her story. When I was about fourteen, I was swimming in the gulf coast by some jetties, maybe around 70 yards out. Waves hitting the jetties were kicking up sand, no visibility at all. A few things happened all at once. I got hit in the thigh with what felt like a baseball bat, two fins, dorsal and tail thrash above the surface feet away for an instant, and my buddy on shore screaming for me to get out of the water. I hauled ass to the jetty, thank God it was near. Would have been a long swim back to the beach. No bites, just a big nasty bruise. Never got a good look at it, happened fast. It was a shade of gray-brown that I've seen on a number of different shark species. I would guess four or five feet from the distance between the fins.

That incident when the guy shot the shark, reminded me when I saw that happen. I was on a drift fishing boat, near Palm Beach Fla. I was there on vacation, from Ill., near Lake Michigan. And someone caught a shark, which was near the surface, and going back and forth, at a fast pace. The captain came out, and shot the shark, with his pistol ! They then let it go, cutting the line. This was in about 1967. I thought that was the normal thing to do, when that happened. I never saw that again, or heard about that happening.
Beautiful shots of The Keys... Reminds me of the time, a friend from Reno and I, doing the 'Surge A. Storm's' tourist drive, taking him to all the out-of-the-way tourist spots in Florida... We wound up on the beach at Key West at sunrise, sleeping on the sand till 10 am (trying NOT to look like homeless drug dealers the cops were not-so-covertly spying on with binoculars from huge SUV's parked behind palm bushes)... So, then we decided to head out, down Alligator Alley on the way home to Treasure Island... FYI: NOPE!! We didn't go swimming anywhere the water wasn't heavily chlorinated!! LOL... Too bad you panned back and forth so fast that I got so dizzy, so, I couldn't watch the clips all the way through to see if I recognized anything... Slow down there with the camera Bub!!

Yes. It is an intriguing subject as to the GW's behavior in the open sea vs. near shore. Amazingly, from what I have read, this 16 ft. animal did not display great ferocity toward Heather. The poor girl's leg was lost during a tug of war between the people onboard the vessel and the shark. I'm still a believer that these highly intelligent predators have their own individual personalities.
You can find some footage of the Heather Boswell attack on the 'anatomy of a shark bite video' along with Eric Ritter's attack by an 8 foot (not 4 or 6) Bull shark.
@@SharksHappen The lemon sharks there are smaller - but the reason he ran his operation there was ironically to try and show that humans could interact safely with adult bull sharks.
Heather Boswell’s story is what got me into sharks. The video was crazy how big that GW was. Phil’s girlfriend was swimming next to him & menstruating at the time, interesting fact. But In Australia revenge killings are standard.
Yeah to be honest I really don't care that they killed the shark and I don't care that it's a protected species. It just nearly killed one of their party. I would care if somebody went out and butchered a shark when it wasn't bothering anyone. This was in 1994 a long time ago.
@@Mookayla As an Australian the majority of us do not condone revenge killings actually. We do have fishermen that can be soulless though and unfortunately we have a big problem with sharks being caught, finns cut off and thrown back in to basically drown.
Thankyou Hal for the great show. I love the megalodon tooth clock! You had me laughing so hard this show that I had tears coming out of my eyes. You would be a great stand up comedian. 😂

Yes she definitely would have bled out if she didn’t have a literal mini hospital right there. I think they even mentioned that the nurses couldn’t get a vein she was very close to death.
Great new video, Hal. Thanks alot. The gulf stories, as well as the billfold under arm video were hilarious. As you said before, we are both around the same age, and you probably have the issue that I have, having partied too hard, for years, years ago. Common with musicians. Lol
Great video, Hal. The additions you shared throughout was a nice touch. It made the vid unique. Out of the 2k YT channels I follow between this account and my creator account this is maybe 1 of half a dozen I watch every video of. Keep it up.
I guess with some of your ‘what was I thinking’ on the golf course and leaving with the restaurant booklet, darn good thing you have a healthy fear of sharks! 🤣😘
Hal, thanks for a good show and the clips from your wayward phone😂. Next time you film video for us, would you please move the phone slowly. I was watching in bed, and wow, I got seasick with the fast movement.
I was stationed on a ship years ago and when we had swim calls we were spread out on both sides of the ship so it is possible that there were swimmers you could not see.
No it is not. Every account has her 25 yards further out and the unedited vid shows that shark cutting her off from the skiff long before finally approaching and biting. No way people stay in the water with a shark. So, 25 yard headstart on a woman that almost made it and you think people are still in the water. And then spin to explain the NOAA report of multiple people in the water when shots first fired… on Heathers side of the boat as he killed the shark on tge backside of it. I would have loved to have you as my parent growin up. Instead i had my dad that didnt but bs like this nonsense being pushed. Reasons there is no uncut vid out any longer
I too remember seeing a video that was filmed from the ship with “aerial” view. Shark was moving slowly as it chomped on her ankle. I also recall that guy in inflatable boat had her under her arms& had tug of war with shark before he could pull her onto boat. Very strange that that video isn’t shown.
Hi Hal I'm just curious on how you know so much about sharks? Reading books? Or stories of people being attacked? You have such good insight , seems sometimes more then so called experts, an how long have you studied them? Just curious. Love your show!
Books, attack reports, been into attacks since about 84. Stopped late 90s and was shocked what is being said about attacks. Seems there are 2 extremes, the Final Affliction extreme dramatizing attacks with total lies in their titles, then the shark research community in the other end. Truth is in the middle of both
@@SharksHappenI know one thing. We'll always get the truth on this channel. Thanks for your wonderful videos on what is a pretty gruesome subject. Certainly some pretty gruesome and heartbreaking stories. Told with compassion, along with the factual parts of each incident. Thanks for all you do in bringing us the real story. I first became interested in the subject after getting a book about Shark attacks, and when I started reading it, the first bit that I can remember that really grabbed my attention, was the pictures and description of the attack on Rodney Fox. I can't remember what book it was, what it was called etc, but I know it was a fairly old book. From the 1970's or early 1980's I think??.
Hal- do you ever wonder what happened to the tv remote control? I often find mine in another part of the house because I forgot to put it down before walking out 😂
Hal, I binged half dozen comedy specials, this weekend, and got a few good chuckles. I'm landlocked also and have been interested since watching JAWS as an 8 year old (it was the 70s) so I get it.

@nicky kalinkski ,Post a link to it , or tell us the title of the video. Please and Thank you !
Yeah to be honest I really don't care that they killed the shark and I don't care that it's a protected species. It just nearly killed one of their party. I would care if somebody went out and butchered a shark when it wasn't bothering anyone. This was in 1994 a long time ago.
Where did you get the info for your last sentence? Killing sharks isn't legal in AU
@@Mookayla yes it is when they attack people. They search for the shark involved or bait drum lines in the area to kill the shark.
@@Mookayla As an Australian the majority of us do not condone revenge killings actually. We do have fishermen that can be soulless though and unfortunately we have a big problem with sharks being caught, finns cut off and thrown back in to basically drown.
Great show Hal , really enjoyed that one .
Keep up the great content. Love 💕 seeing your new videos pop up on my feed. Never miss a Sharks 🦈 Happen video. 😊
Great show as always Hal
Thankyou Hal for the great show. I love the megalodon tooth clock! You had me laughing so hard this show that I had tears coming out of my eyes. You would be a great stand up comedian. 😂
Hi I enjoy your channel...
I live in michigan and I believe u do to...so glad spring is finally here...
Enjoy your videos...
I am very intrigued with sharks...thank u for your Great work and information on sharks...😊
She was even more lucky that she got A,+ medical attention on the ship
Keep it up.
Wow, thank you for sharing this fabulous information and video. Just like being there. Excellent story teller 👏
I love your stories. So much fun to share storie. Andd you do it well Hal !
I LOVE your videos , my husband is from Venice Fl I wouldn’t go into that water, but he’s ok with it!
Belated Happy Birthday Hal!!! 🎂🎉😊
I guess with some of your ‘what was I thinking’ on the golf course and leaving with the restaurant booklet, darn good thing you have a healthy fear of sharks! 🤣😘
I just love your stories!! Always makes me laugh along with you!
Had my o cracking up at your stories Hal
Oh NO!! I knew you were going to say your phone was on the roof of your car. Hahahaaa. My husband does that a lot
Love your shark tooth clock.
Hal, thanks for a good show and the clips from your wayward phone😂. Next time you film video for us, would you please move the phone slowly. I was watching in bed, and wow, I got seasick with the fast movement.
I can never understand why people want to touch sharks on the nose or belly rub it's strange.
Hal! You’re back, I missed you!
Thank you hal !!! 🎉
Was a lot longer as they showed the shark swim back and forth keeping heather from the boat. Was a much creepier vid than this edited one
"That must be my tank..." 😂 Anybody else suddenly want to go on an aquarium tour led by Hal?
Great vid! Tuna steak, calamaris and margaritas thats how you enjoy the sun and beach.
Hal- do you ever wonder what happened to the tv remote control? I often find mine in another part of the house because I forgot to put it down before walking out 😂
Wow, that meg tooth clock is pretty awesome!
Woooo new sharks happen content been waiting for this 🦈
Hal, I binged half dozen comedy specials, this weekend, and got a few good chuckles. I then decided to see what was happening in the shark world and, your golf & restaurant stories had me laughing so hard that I think I hurt myself. I should've just bindged your channel. Noted. Relatively new subscriber and love your channel. Curious how a guy from MI is so interested in sharks. I'm landlocked also and have been interested since watching JAWS as an 8 year old (it was the 70s) so I get it.
Shark attack books mostly.
Very entertaining show. Great aquarium and beach location footage combined with your humorous anecdotes makes for a great time - at least to a landlocked midwesterner like me. Thanks for taking us along. Would like to have that unique clock.
Yes I really love the location videos. Very interesting to see the actual geographical locations where attacks happened. Good video!
