Nice video. This is a good upgrade of your rig compared to what you had before LOL. I am a low-end simmer. I use a GT Lite cockpit that I keep on the side of my desk when I am not using it (I run an e-commerce company and a blog from this desk). I use a logitech G29, Buttkicker, and a HP Reverb G2. My buttkicker recently died, so I will be getting a new buttkicker Gamer Pro. I want to upgrade my steering wheel and eventually, my pedals, or I might do it all at the same time. I am thinking of getting the Fanatec DD pro wheelbase myself. If I can ever get some extra room, I want a motion rig. I bet after a year, you have had a great deal of fun in your rig.
I have the exact same setup and my pedals lined up spot on, took a bit of playing about, if yours don't line up but just a few mm i would drill, just use a washer and smaller bolt to give you that extra room to get it into position. I have to say my is rock solid not a single micron of movement.
Going G29 upgrade route too now after 6 years lol. Simucube 2 sport, heusikenveld, simlab gt1, 27 to 49 inch. Very very excited. Looks like the simlab is great!
Amazing rig, good video aswell, keep it up! Last month I upgraded my GTomega ART to the Sim Lab GT1-Evo. Its a big upgrade, and much firmer. 2 years ago I bought the Fanatec CSL elite, coming from a Logitech G29, the difference was night and day. Now I ordered the CSL DD, although I don't expect the difference to be huge, I think direct drive is gonna give me more detailed feedback, which will help me get more consistant. The expected delivery was 23 nov, but today the website said 12 nov, so hopefully mine arrives at the end of october.
Thanks Martijn, yes the CSL DD has been a been huge step up from the G29, I didn't appreciate how much FFB detail I was missing out on. I'm sure you will enjoy the upgrade. SalsaKetchup VR, who we race with also upgraded from the CSL Elite to the CSL DD and was very impressed 👍
Nice setup, cant wait for my csl dd to arrive. Im surprised you didnt get the load cell brake pedals. Well its not in stock now so im waiting for that.
The load cell pedal for the CSL pedals wasn't released at the time I ordered my pedals. I have since pre-ordered one on Black Friday, so hopefully one should arrive end of Jan.
Nice video! I was initially going for the Sim Labs GT1 evo but the additional seat cost was just too much, In the end I went for the GT Omega Titan with the RS9 seat, with discount it came in £389, the cheapest seat I found was around £165 (non reclining) on ebay (with 15% off) so that with the £330 GT1 evo brought the total to nearly £500. I kinda regret getting the Titan with it not having such an adaptable frame (for a monitor mount) like the GT1 but the Titan does look nicer imo. I admit your new seat does look smarter and more comfortable, but certainly a big investment and hope it serves you well... as someone new to Sim Racing myself I think compared to real racing it's a bargain and amazing fun 😁
Congrats on the new rig and seat, hope it serves you well. Yeah I was after something small and adaptable and the Sim Lab GT1 ticked the boxes for me. It was a kind of blind guess on the seat (not being able to sit in it before buying) but I am very happy with it so far. If you race any of games shown on my channel feel free to join in our races, just check our Discord out. We are all mixed skill levels.
Hi, I have the same setup, but different seat mounted direct on the 40 x 40. I’m looking to raise the height so is the inverted seat bracket still holding up? Thank you.
Feeling the vibrations is amazing and its like they did it on purpose. Anynody that complains abour feeling vibrations in there base and in there rig are weird people! Like i laugh at comments hey guys why do i feel vibrations from the motor in my hands? Umm because its a ffb queue! People out there literally will resuce ffb so much just to not feel it and it blows my mind lol. They dont want to see hesr or feel vibrations ever. Im like well enjoy no ffb then! Then yoy have other defending there wheelbase thinking ok i have to tell this guh that it shouldnt feel that way just because i gotta defend the wheelbase and dont want anyone thinking there is a problem. Its like dude just tell him its normal. Anyone stating they dont feel it are the ones that actually have the issues with there bases. Not the other way around.
Very nice rig Ham ! I think i'm going for the same setup as yours. I like the idea for the elevated seat, did u turn the Sim Lab standart bracket upsidedown or is it a special bracket ?
Smart idea with reversing the bucket seat brackets! I might do the same, since my bucket can't recline nor does it have holes on the side for the normal seat bracket install. How have the reversed bucket seat brackets held up so far?
Yes I like using the bucket seat bracket in this way, it allows me to incline the base of the seat which wouldn't be possible if it was bolted directly to the profile.
Hey my lap times are maybe slightly better, but not by much. It definitely makes you more conistent and yes it's easier to catch slides compared to using the G29. The feedback detail and response time makes games feel more imermesrive and I'm finding racing more enjoyable overall.
@@HamVR Thanks mate, it sums up everything. I will improve my technique with G29 once I feel saturated and its a bottleneck, I will consider buying a DD.
Im looking at buying one and you say you are 5"10, im 5"11 and how long is the rig as im looking at putting the pedal area under my desk and need to know how long it is from the pedal base to the start of the wheel stand. Thanks
The way mine is setup at the moment about 36cm of the rig fits under the desk, leaving about 1cm of the rig out in the room, plus another 20cm for the chair reclining so a total of 120cm not under the desk, in the room.
Whats the differences between Sim Lab GT1 Evo and TR1? I can't decide.. My CSL DD is coming in two weeks... Many people say GT1 Evo is better but why is TR1 more expensive € ?
They are similar in dimensions but the TR1 has a slighty smaller base. The TR1 is probably more expensive as there's more machined brackets in the kit for the wheel deck area. The angular uprights looks good but I think vertical uprights of the GT1 EVO are more practical for attaching parts/more profile to.
Hey! I was looking at buying that rig. Did it come with all the mounting hardware for the seat apart from rails? That's basically the same set up I want to get but am hoping to buy the V3 pedals if I can find them in stock anywhere!
Hey, the rig doesn't come with any seat mounting hardware other than the two profile bars on the rig and M8 t-nuts. I added the bucket seat mount (to raise the seat up) and a Sparco seat slider for leg adjustment (parts listed in the video description). Nice choice on the V3 pedals, I already had the CSL pedals from when I was using with the G29. I'll probably get the loadcell upgrade once it's available.
@@HamVR ok so I'd need some kind of bucket seat mount of rails for a seat. I'm thinking about the RS9 seat from GT Omega. I think that comes with rails and looks like a good seat.
@@treemium1467 if the R9 comes with a runner/slider it should bolt directly the profile. Keep in mind it might be a bit low to the floor. I think GT Omega do bracket for reclining seats to raise it higher.
Hi yes direct from Fanatec Germany and the VAT was 20% plus a small UPS admin fee. Also keep in mind UPS ask for cash (or cheque) on delivery only, which is pretty rediculous tbh. I got no warning when the delivery was being delivered so I didn't have cash ready. The driver went away and came back the next day after I paid the VAT over the phone by credit card.
Thanks for watching.. I've updated the video description with links to the parts I used for the rig build. I'll probably do a follow up video once I've got the shifter mounted and I've spent more time in the rig. Update: Part 2 here: ua-cam.com/video/3z9NVV8bG6Y/v-deo.html
Hello. Wanted thé CSL dd. Do you have info, for Europe, about possible delays if I préorder it (it is Said november but afraid it could bé more Time ?) Thx. Fanatec has everything except that.
Hey, sorry I don't have any more info than the Fanatec web page, sorry. I pre-orded mine the first week it was announced back in June. Given how popular the CSL DD is I expect that the delivery date will keep getting pushed back, the more orders Fanatec receive. As with most electronics at the moment, supply can't keep up with demand.
Cant wait to recieve mine! I actually ordered the same one today and my CSL arrives tomorrow. Also upgrading from G29
