This is one of the best channels on UA-cam and I own a different breed but love this channel, This is a real budget way to make a fun hotrod without breaking the bank. Even though we know that you could build a pro mod car💸💸 🤣jk... you stick with the little guy's builds 😁

@@318willrun that's right and you have or had a mustang at one point so you're a little partial to Ford as I used to have a 96 dodge single cab truck with a 360 in it and it sounded really good and had pretty good power to be a stock truck and if my ex hadn't took it with her I would have either built it or at least put a h/c/i combo on it to make it really fun, I loved it and it ran really good, my dad liked it as well and told me that I needed to keep it right before he passed to cancer , that was his favorite ride that I had, I didn't have the pinto at the time but im sure that he would have still liked the truck because it was a lil loud and a full size truck with a bigger engine in it and said he felt like king of the road when he drove stuff like that 😂 I often thought about giving it to him and probably would have if cancer hadn't taken him out of no where he was only 57 in good shape before that hit him

That cam (duration @.050" is identical) is very similar to the XE270HR I ran in my first Magnum converted to carb, a 5.2L 318. It ran 8.20s and 30s in the 1/8mi in my '68 Dart with (coincidentally) 4.30 gears! Trapped 86mph!! Same kind of build, springs, cam, intake, headers and a 750 vaccum secondary Holley. Stock bore and re-ringed, hv oil pump and full groove main bearings. Cheap fun, and EVERYONE thought it was a built 340!

I havent desided wether to keep the 78 LA 360 block I have with a set of 360 J heads with 2.02 valves or just go to a place 45 miles away from me thats like pick n pull salvage yard on steroids and for 150 bucks pull a 5.9 360 magnum . all they ask is a core and it can be any size engine from out anything as long as it ran on gasoline .

Ha ha this is what you were talking about the other day when you said that drag truck got a little attention, kinda sorta " That is cool and with the 110 lsa on the cam it will sound really good, if you really want to go wild put some 1.72 rockers in it 😁 but what you got will do the trick just fine and I can't wait to hear it, I bet it will sound really good, didn't you do a little porting on the heads?, i can't remember but that will make drag truck really fun to drive especially when you put that 450 shot of nitrous on it like you said it was going to get 😜 😁

There are a few things to look out for when you are using a magnum, a good source of info is magnum swap info, google it. There are bits that you will need to grind off so the starter will clear and most headers will hit a boss on the block you will need to grind or remove with a cutting disk. Just pre fit everything before you put in truck as to hard to do when in truck. How do I know about these things in NZ, hmmmm I have a magnum in my old USA car :) Thanks Bruce from NZ

    • @318willrun

Nice job! I’ve ‘heard’ several times that Magnum cam bearings are usually bad and need replacing. Sure enough, I bought a 60k mileage Magnum, took a look and yup, one of them had chunks missing lol. I’ll be replacing them too. On a side note, I’m sure you’re watching Richard Holdener’s Magnum dyno series?
