In this video I make some much needed modifications to my 2018' Chevy truck bed to make it more efficient and useable for carrying loads and tools together!

I used the self tappers to see if I like this ideas over time. ..And to keep the tolls feed… 👶…If it becomes a forever thing I’ll weld it in ❤️
I was thinking something like a rivnut would work well. It'll hold better than self tappers (obviously) but still be removable, and give you a potential anchor point for something else down the road.
Also, maybe drill holes in the bolts and attach the rails with cotter pins on a lanyard
I'm hopeful that season 2 of Making Fun has the Jimmy Troll Voice :)
I usually use nutserts to install things on cars and trucks instead of welding, but if you welded it in nobody would be able to walk off with it. :)
@@KoalityofLife good option for sure
First
That’s not fair 😐
Well that's that sorted then.
No way!
Hi Jimmy great content . Respectfully I might suggest a safety screen for the rear window. I know of several people who have been injured by material coming through the back window in a fast stop or accident. Thanks again for you great content.
The tiny self tapping screws in sheet metal holding on for dear life are the true heroes of this build :D
yeah, all the welding and fabrication and ultimately it's held in place with 4 self tapping screws 🤨
Yes, and it is not even supported by a plate on the other side, so it is just the sheet metal surrounding those screws that is holding all the weight.
Especially holding the tension of a load. Was anything else done to support those siderails or do we expect to see a Prius with a stack of plywood through the windshield in the next video?
He's Jimmy Diresta if it's not working he'll modify it .
@@davidrichter9980 tell that to the vic that eats the 2x4 the little screw that could didn't hold.
You're a lucky man Jimmy....not for the talent or the endless amount of shop tools and capabilities, not for the fame, fortune and finances your career has brought you...anyone can acquire that . Your lucky because you have someone to help you load full sheets of plywood! I get near a stack of plywood and people vanish.
It's the same when you have to move furniture or equipment. Unless its your friends who need to move...then you (and your truck) are suddenly their best friend.
A friend of mine always has someone to help him load/unload plywood, gravel, etc. Me! Ain't I lucky?
@@thomaslevy2119 Well atleast you have friends
I was more impressed that he found a store that actually had some plywood in stock...
You need a Grabo!!
The ability to store them while not in use takes this idea to the next level. Great idea!
Dang! That is one sweet setup! The only change I would make is on the crossbar closest to the back glass. I would weld a piece of angle on the top or a couple of tabs to keep the lumber from coming through the backglass if you ever have to break suddenly. could save your life.
I always do a wrap around material when strapping down. Holds way better and stops stuff moving around.
I'd do the same.
Especially handy for when you’re delivering materials like the dukes of hazard.
My 7yr old Son watches your Videos with me all the time. We love Learning from The Living Legend Himself..
His only question was, "Why Does he keep coffe in his truck bed?"
Me: The Coffee Respects Him enough not to Spill
You jinxed it Jimmy... although you gave the lumber a good shake, you failed to say, "That's not going anywhere..." 😆🤣
Awesome idea and a great use of space. I really like the way they stow.
Underrated
I have to say, that's one of the better tools I've seen you make. Quick and easy to load big stuff, and you still have access to the bed.
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best
Every truck should have this.
What a fantastic use of the truck bed. It’s a one stop shop now!!! Amazing build Jimmy!!!!🤘🏼💀🤘🏼
Jimmy! Been watching making fun with my kids, and they love it! Long time fan of something like 10 years saying thank you for getting my sons interested in making stuff.
Making use of available space while keeping it simple and uncluttered. Once again.... BRILLIANT!!
Somebody get this poor man a glove sponsorship! 😂
I love this kind of problem solving, remaking stuff to improve it for specific needs.
I'd do some nut inserts instead of the self tapping screws, a few hard tie downs and those screws are gonna pull through that sheet metal. Awesome design though, I'm gonna do that for my truck too!
I’ve consider this. How the bed slide is installed
Awesome stuff.
Glad you are here.
Yep haven't seen rails like that, definitely makes a great addition to a truck bed. 👍👍👊👊
I am going to try the Starrett tape measure. I have many tape measures. For a long HD tape, I prefer the Stanley Fatmax Auto lock, but I have found that my favorite is the 16' Snapon autolock. I have one in all my vehicles.
Genius Jimmy, now that`s one efficient truck bed, you the man.
I need one of those battery packs. Turning a van I bought into a camper van to travel every where possible with my daughter this summer. I’ve been looking at a few. I like this one a lot. Def needed when we are in the middle of nowhere! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
My kid's just found you...
I've nbeen a fan for years!!
Than you, keep doing everything u do!
Fun for the whole family!!!
I just bought an eco flow yesterday!
Love the silver paint in the box bed……in Canada, we call that “French Chrome”, just ask Canadian Pat! LOL
yeah old school diresta!
You're always coming up with the best ideas and I love to watch your great idea become reality.
So awesome man. I like watching you use the mill.
A truck company should hire you to release a Diresta edition for them.
*Baby voice* You're gonna damage the axe blade storing it like that.
Great build yet again brother!
10:05 You can yank on it all you want, but if you don't say "that's not going anywhere," it doesn't count.
watching you load that plywood up is like watching mark wahlberg and his team load gold bars into a herd of minis.
Idk if it’s a the ingenuity or just a long time workin in “makin” but you don’t cease to impress, sir!
Excellent, useful, transformative, This should be standard on work trucks.
Super cool modification, makes life easier down the road for hauling stuff and still able to use the bed drawer. I like it!
Приветствую Джимми!
Отличная работа!🙂👍👍👍
Excellent design, and great video. Thanks as always Jimmy.
Its Diresta - Allways brilliant Ideas!
Real slick, these problem solving vids are my favorite of yours Jimmy.
I watch Jimmy, 'cause I always learn something! Can't say that about every channel I subscribe to. ❤🤟👍👍
Nice; Jimmy don't forget the space for the Hi-lift Jack.
Play safe from Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Brilliant Mr. D! Yes on the rivnuts if that works for you. Keep in mind you may get a visit from Walter the cat and John Hoogenakker. Hopefully he convinces upper management to Pay you exorbitantly. Love what you bring Jimmy!
I love my bed slide.
when I heard about this one on making it I was thinking your flat bed, but this is super cool and makes it more usable too!
Your ingenuity always amazes me!
Awesome! I need a power station for my new van. Thanks for the heads up on eco flow. Looks like just what I need.
One of your best ideas
Respect and thanks! this is a cool project for sure! The fact that you are so bold in the projects that you do is really inspiring.
Thank you for posting, editing, and camera work. you truly have a gift, ever since your old TV show on HGTV with Rat Boy I knew you had great talent that can't be learned from classes at school.
Craig
Awesome Jim, love and respect!
awesome - all trucks should have this as a standard option available! Thank you Jimmy
Awesome idea Jimmy! Sending this video for my son to view. He has a truck and wants to improve the carrying storage & transport capacity. Thanks & hope that you are doing well... 👍👍
As always, a great idea and hassle-free execution.
Awesome video and project. Super useful. I remember a time when mooring points were on the outside of bed. Mahalo for sharing! : )
I love it! Very cool ideas, I would love one of those bed sliders if they didn’t take up all that height, unfortunately I have to fit something under my cover that literally touches the floor and the cover, I don’t even have room for another coat of paint 🤣 The axe and hammer holders really had me scratching my head for a sec before I realized what they were!
Amazing Diresta! Once again quality content we can all enjoy!
Like the details like the storage for the bars
Fantastic idea
Jimmy is a modern master. If I was in charge of a Ninja Turtles remake, I'd name one Diresta. Good stuff!
WTF
Another great job Jimmy but how about showing some mercy to that bump with a couple rattles of the paint can as well 😜
Awesome idea for sure
Whoa! You're talking in this one! Does that mean that for the patreon version you'll have the very first part of the video at 2x speed? Just teasing. Great idea and execution!
I never understand why trucks are used in some types of construction. Vans are much bigger and keep all your tools and materials dry and safe.
For me it easier to load. But it’s true I often consider a van.
With a truck Its easier to load and unload debris.
I use a trailer. Best of both worlds. But, do have drawbacks. Stealing being one.
A recent poll suggests that men who drive vans do so because they can't fit everything in their purse.
@@davidvgoliath hilarious. The European boys are going to really whine when they see that.
Super cool Jimmy!!!
You the man Jimmy!!!
Good approach - thanks for posting. Thumbs up!
What I thought you were the 3 strap guy 🤭 Nice project anyhow.
Nice work. Love the old Chevy though. I agree with bringing the hooking points for tie downs higher. I can barely reach mine in my 3500. 8' boxes are really the answer though.
brilliant mod
ScottBrownCarpentry vibes at the start of this video 👍
It would be neat if the bar closest to the tailgate was a roller so you could slide the heavy things on and off nice and easy.
Thanks Jimmy!
Cool idea, though anytime I see hollow tubes with openings, I just know they will fill up with wasp nests.
You are definitely an artist!!! Love so much your vídeos!!!
Jimmy,with due respect I like it!🤗😎🤗😎
Great idea. Simple and effective!
this was fun to watch
I was hoping to hear a "that ain't going nowhere" when you were done strapping that lumber down.
Very cool mods!
Cool and practice solution!!!! 👏👏
Nice rig
Thanks again Jimmy for the inspiration, that’s just what my truck needs!
Simple and Brilliant, as usual. Thank you.
Great job thanks for the video.
Hi Jimmy, great video as always, thanks for inspiring us!
Just a little request: could you please mention when the video includes flashes of light (welding etc.) as some viewers might have Photosensitive Epilepsy... Thanks!
great plan!!!
Awesome Jimmy
Radheed!!!! 👊🏼🙏🏼
10:20 Oh nice upgrade it's ov...... Oh more upgrades !!!!!!
That is so clever !👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nicely done. Very practical.
Genius at work! Thanks Jimmy
Outstanding 👍
Hey, great news: I DID enjoy this video!
in early....just for Jimmy.!!!!!!
Dude is no joke!
It’s beautiful Clark.
A through bolt with a pin would be nice to hold the bars instead of a bolt that north east will rust them solid lol
Clever and neat 👍
Μπράβο ρε Μητσαρα!!!
Absolutely fantastic 👍👍
