Thank you all! Due to time and weather i will fill the gaps w mortar and paint the door w linseed in due time 🙏🏼 love and respect ✊🏻 ..the people talking about wood movement, don't worry its all going to be fine. I've considered every possible out come.
i was wondering how you would even fill in the gaps, i was thinking spray foam? but how do you cover that up? some kind of scribed trim? but yeah, mortar, duh.. love it
As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
One of the first UA-cam channels I watched was back when you were in NYC turning discarded items into functional things, like old lumber into a NYC skyline bench.
Considering all the amusing reveal shots, this could be called the Diresta Pet Door.... 😎 Seriously, wonderful piece of craftsmanship. Should easily go another 200 years.
Why would I care if he used a level? I have 12 different levels in sizes from 6-feet down to 8-inches and I don't need Jimmy Diresta to remind me how to use them.
Such a delight, honor & responsibility to live in a generational property & to make it better in tasteful ways that enhance its charm, beauty & ambiance, adding new wonders, mystery & splendours. Thank you for sharing & inspiring!
When I'm doing a project that looks old I like to take a torch to the zinc hardware until it gets red hot. It leaves it with a black patina that can be waxed, lacquered or just left to rust. It's an easy way to come up with some old looking hardware.
That's a step or two up from the Home Depot. Well done! I think I've seen enough Diresta videos to know when Jimmy is saying "thank YOU", just by how he throws material around.
Good for another 200 years. Nice work building it to fit in the with style of an old house. Interesting how a flea market find from years ago finally was just the right part.
This is so cool! You make difficult stuff like this look easy enough for me to do myself… even though I don’t have a welder, metal band saw, or a basement.
Jimmy, I used to think that your videos were sped up, which made them more interesting, but now I'm thinking that, that's actually how fast you work. BTW nice build.
The different items you make really show off your skill and versatility as an artisan. The stuff you make is just so incredibly beautiful...its functional art at its finest! Nothing but mad respect for your skill and creativity!
You've managed making a cellar door interesting, well done. I wish you, your family and colleagues a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Thank you so much for all your video's.
This cellar entrance looks eerily similar to one which I had started a very similar door replacement for but never finished - now I see how it could have gone! In particular, your welded pin-into-foundation mounting scheme is a simple yet very effective manner of attachment and one which I had not imagined for my build. Excellent concept and build. I too am a fan of boiled linseed oil for some of my wood projects.
I remember back in the day when all of JD’s tools were painted white. Nice to see manufacturers finally showing the love to someone who has spent a lot of time and effort showing us his methods.
Hey all - Just a quick update to let you know that My Giant DiResta Razors are Now Live Here: imakeny.com/products/diresta-razor-blade
Thank you all! Due to time and weather i will fill the gaps w mortar and paint the door w linseed in due time 🙏🏼 love and respect ✊🏻 ..the people talking about wood movement, don't worry its all going to be fine. I've considered every possible out come.
It needs a Diresta cat door...😀
Freaking awesome, I need me a farm house, love the medieval aspect of it
I hope your blacksmith-ed handle makes it another 200 years, nice work.
i was wondering how you would even fill in the gaps, i was thinking spray foam? but how do you cover that up? some kind of scribed trim? but yeah, mortar, duh.. love it
Awesome build 🙌

This descent of stone stairs ending with such a door... It feels like entering the caves of Moria !!! It's just beautiful!!!
One of the first UA-cam channels I watched was back when you were in NYC turning discarded items into functional things, like old lumber into a NYC skyline bench.
Nice door that should strengthen the rubble foundation. Opening and closing the doors for our six cats makes me feel like a doorman in a cathouse.
beautiful door!!
where the hell have you been! ive been worried sick!
@11:56 I like to think that ToT was tearing up a bit....a lil' bit, a lil' bit. No (weirdly satisfying) blue marker, no uniform chips.... 😂
Tony!!! Xoxox 😃
The sound at 19:33 was super cool.
I love the subtle xylophone when hammering in the set nails for the door frame. Gave me a little smile on a Monday lunch break, thanks.
Good morning Mr Diresta
This door makes me wish we all lived in 200+y/o farm houses, with stacked stone foundations
Well done sir!
unique anchoring system. fine lookin door. can not beat metal frame. thanks for the visit
That is such a cool looking door! Love it!
😊😊😊👊🏼👊🏼❤️
Has a very nice closing and secured sound that you can readily identify when coming and going
Me agrada ver a este amigo,me recuerda a mi tío Pancho" entran,a todo le hacen, chambones pero aguerridos.
Felicidades..
now that is a different way to fix a frame . I never would have thought of that in a million years nice one
good -better -best -never let it rest until your good is gooder and your better is best.
I had to rewatch 19:33 a few times. The pitch increasing as the nail was driven in was sooooo satisfying!
We know that section of the house is supported for another hundred years. Awesome job.
Considering all the amusing reveal shots, this could be called the Diresta Pet Door.... 😎
Seriously, wonderful piece of craftsmanship. Should easily go another 200 years.
Awesome project. Now build a workshop down there and you’ll have your original NY workspace back …haha.
And just like that, good for another 200 years!
Best made door for that spot ever.
I'm so glad the house didn't fall and now is re-supported with a one of a kind! Looks great👊🏼
LOL “When your door is a structural element of the building “
First time I’ve seen Jimmy pick up a level. Thought he never needed one. Great lesson to all DIY guys like myself. If he needs one, you do too.
Why would I care if he used a level? I have 12 different levels in sizes from 6-feet down to 8-inches and I don't need Jimmy Diresta to remind me how to use them.

Jimmy you are the best I've ever seen. Thank you for you kindness to share.

I live in earthquake country. I cant thank you enough for the metal shoring to the exit near that facade or real stone wall. Woot! Lemmie outta here!
Very impressive. You make it look so easy and only took 20 minutes plus the time to edit the video.
Nice to see that cats everywhere are as indecisive regarding the desire to be inside or outside or inside =D
Frankly, Jimmy, you are now living my dream. A wonderful workshop and beautiful kittens, well done work
i think its so awesome your cats have a doorman.
Good morning everyone 🤙🏽
Джимми, ты Великолепен! Спасибо за труд!!!
That's a step or two up from the Home Depot.
Well done!
I think I've seen enough Diresta videos to know when Jimmy is saying "thank YOU", just by how he throws material around.
🤣👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
I love those old houses with the crazy fieldstone basements.
I’m so glad you opened and closed the door (40 times) as I don’t know they did that. 😂👍
Shouldn't have to worry about any basement break ins. That is solid.
Amazing work and "Diresta" is history 👏🏻!
Cellar Door. Beautiful words, beautiful door.
We go from wood working to medal forging in 2.2 seconds. Love it.
Jimmy, I used to think that your videos were sped up, which made them more interesting, but now I'm thinking that, that's actually how fast you work. BTW nice build.
У Диресты все как всегда на высоте :)))
I love the idea of using the nails then welding them for the best anchors
The different items you make really show off your skill and versatility as an artisan. The stuff you make is just so incredibly beautiful...its functional art at its finest! Nothing but mad respect for your skill and creativity!
Love how the Little Crew follow you around 😀
For a moment I thought we were back in NYC. Awesome door, should last another 200!
(Remember your videos when you spoke back to the Trolls? Those were good fun........as they all are). super video!
Loving the heavy duty industrial style of that door.
Great project. Hats off to the video editor, excellent production.
Thank you!! And thank you again 😇
Man when he pulled back the card board I was like wow wait a min. That's a treasure.
Ok for 200...
Congrat's as ever Mr.
Great work as always, condolences to your brother and his family
I love the band saw flip, the grinder throws, the best way to feed the trolls!! Lol!! 😆🤜🏻🤛🏻
The sound at 19:33 was so satisfying
The little "It fits" at 18:38 was perfect
For the hundredth time........here's a Jimmy video I'm not interested in watching. 5 Minutes Later....OMG!!! That is SO COOL!!! I love this video!! DD
I thought of something clever to say but decided something simple would suffice. You’re my hero. Great work Jimmy!
😇
I just love your style man. You Sir, are an old school Renaissance Man.
That door will still be there in 2121 . Nice work !
The handsaw toss was best part
Looks really nice with these stone walls!
A nice surprise and a gift at the time of Advent. 👏Good luck and happiness to all. 🎁 Warm greetings from Berlin 🙂
these are my favorite diresta projects.
This is in my top 5 Diresta makes videos. Really nice craftsmanship.
Great build, good for another couple hundred years and more. Using steel with wood is genius.
Soon your house will have every door custom built by you. Great work as usual. One day I'll come to walk through all those doors.

I am just discovering you show and channel and I am very impressed thus far. I will definitely do more research and watch more shows.
“The carpenter's door is loose” , you certainly put that saying to sleep 😊excellent work as always 🙏🏻
Shiplap on walls I detest. Shiplap on this door looks perfect. Love the overall look of this. First perfectly with the house. Thanks for sharing!
A true master! A master of working fast first and foremost!
Fantastic build, I love the rustic feel with stone walls and the lever mechanism is lovely. The best part is the cats passing through 😍
I love your assistants!
DANG ! That looks great. Works good with the stone.
Best kind of Diresta video; problem meets solution with Jimmy's style! Well done sir!
This is one of my favorite projects you have ever done. I can watch this over and over.

That m18 bandsaw is so much fun to use. Makes on-site fabrication or demolition a lot easier too!

your Minecraft skills are next level
This new door will last 500+ years, congrats.
The door handle is a beautiful touch.
I remember back in the day when all of JD’s tools were painted white. Nice to see manufacturers finally showing the love to someone who has spent a lot of time and effort showing us his methods.
men of few words are a delight. The door says everything. Capital!
I miss watching these videos. Reminds me of the good times, when I'd look forward to the next JD post
