I remember this track back in the mid eighties. It was a top ten hit at the time which should've been a number one hit by Robbie Nevil. A smooth sultry jazzy type of R&B feel to hit that hit airwaves not only on video music, but in the R&B radio airplay too. You don't find music like that in our era.
I'd forgotten how amazing this song is. What an amazing voice! Robbie Nevil was born with one hell of a soul bone buried deep in his brain; I remember thinking at the time that this was the best funk/soul I'd heard in YEARS, and the video captured the trashy Sideshow Vintage that was everywhere. And he's probably the only musician to ever use a Tilt-A-Whirl as a percussion instrument. Classic Depression-Era,Long Beach Oil-Well Kitch! Timelessly delicious! And brilliantly written.
Literally one of the best songs ever made, because whoever you are, no matter how high or how low, life will bite you in the ass, and this song will be the most fucking perfect song in that moment.
Streatham Soprano he probably knew fame was fleeting and the cost would be too high to maintain it. Many musicians felt that way, yet many others chased it to no end.
Indeed, a testament to the extreme difficulty of staying power in the fickle, precarious music industry. One of the most frustrating parts of being an artist is understanding that timing really is everything. No matter how much talent, charisma, tenacity, good looks, or whatever other ingredient you may think is important, timing is the one thing that trumps everything. Market niche or the need for what an artist is making will dictate how much attention people give to the music being made.
hotmama love ... not true at all. Nevil's next single, "Dominoes," hit #14, and the third single, "Wot's It to Ya," hit #10! Nevil is NO one-hit wonder!

Yessum
I always thought this was a cool song ,never knew who the person was,
He did it cause it's still cool and funky 😏
Chedric Bigby , me too! Just fantastic...
Who else misses the 80s 🙃🙃
More like who doesn’t?? 🤩
1987 i was only 18 yrs. Old 37 yrs. Ago now i'm 55 yrs. Old
Now watching may 9, 2024
Yes Darcy!!
No need to miss the 80's, its all here and that comes from the man whose teenage years stretched from 1981-1987
I think most people miss the past a bit!
THAT'S where those oil well pumps are from! That or Wilmington CA! Used to live there, I thought they looked familiar! :)
Ep 2 season 6 Snowfall brought me back to this classic
Without a doubt one of the most important tunes of my late teens. Early 1987 on a stick. Totally fantastic tune, one of the best from this year.
If this isn't 80's nostalgia then I really dont know what is!!!??? Glad to have grown up during this time. 80s,90s will always be the best! 70s too!!!
I remember back in 86 when it was released and it brought great memories.
I miss the 80's, I'm 44 now and still love this song. It gets turned up in the car when I bust out my c.d's .
Lol I do too
How are you doing?
Doing great William and you?😉
@@michellek.g1956 good where are you from how about we get to know each other
Of course!! I’m 42 and will always turn this up!! ♥️✨🙌🏻💯☝🏼🙏🏼
@@ashleyblansett2755 how about we get to know each other
Literally one of the best songs ever made, because whoever you are, no matter how high or how low, life will bite you in the ass, and this song will be the most fucking perfect song in that moment.
Absolutely, played this song in the shower after being fired 😂 felt gooood
This dude had everything going for him - why wasn't he an even bigger star?
Streatham Soprano he probably knew fame was fleeting and the cost would be too high to maintain it. Many musicians felt that way, yet many others chased it to no end.
Indeed, a testament to the extreme difficulty of staying power in the fickle, precarious music industry.
One of the most frustrating parts of being an artist is understanding that timing really is everything. No matter how much talent, charisma, tenacity, good looks, or whatever other ingredient you may think is important, timing is the one thing that trumps everything. Market niche or the need for what an artist is making will dictate how much attention people give to the music being made.
He had a couple of others- 'wots it 2 ya?' Is great also
And "Dominoes"
hotmama love ... not true at all. Nevil's next single, "Dominoes," hit #14, and the third single, "Wot's It to Ya," hit #10! Nevil is NO one-hit wonder!
Loved this song as a kid
Still bumping this in 2019
Thank you Snowfall for introducing me to this classic
Man, 1986 sure had some great music like this! Now it’s gone. C’est la vie...
Good one!

This was my all-time eighties hit by Robbie Nevil at the time when I first heard it, I said to myself this would be a top ten hit not only in the pop but R&B section. This was by far a feel good hit when music was true music in the eighties.
