Lyrics
Kissing like a bandit stealing time
Underneath the sycamore tree
Cupid by the hour sends valentines
To my sweet lover and me
Slowly but surely
Your appetite is more than I knew
Sweetly, softly
I'm falling in love with you
Wish me love a wishing well to kiss and tell
A wishing well of butterfly tears
Wish me love a wishing well to kiss and tell
A wishing well of crocodile cheers - sing!
Make it funky now, boys
Hugging like a monkey see, monkey do
Right beside a riverboat gambler ha, ha, ha, ha
Erotic images float through my head
Say you wanna be a midnight rambler
Gently but quickly
The blood races through my veins
Quickly, loudly
I wanna hear those sugar bells ring
Wish me love a wishing well to kiss and tell
A wishing well of butterfly tears
Wish me love a wishing well to kiss and tell
A wishing well of crocodile cheers
Get up now!
On the beat now, uh!
Come on!
Wish me love a wishing well to kiss and tell
A wishing well of butterfly tears
Come on!
Wish me love a wishing well to kiss and tell
A wishing well of crocodile cheers
Uh!
Yeah, I feel like goin' on, I feel like goin' on
(Wish me love, a wishing well to kiss and tell)
Come on, come on!
Erotic images float through here
Your midnight rambler, baby, uh
(Wish me love, a wishing well to kiss and tell)
Yeah hoo! Dig it! Follow you anywhere
I don't know, I don't care
(Wish me love, a wishing well to kiss and tell)
But all I know is that I gotta be a midnight rambler, baby, uh!
One of the most underrated artist of all time ☹
Hard to believe that this man was a golden glove boxer.
Matthew Medina No he is not underrated, it is just that he preferred to be out of the spotlight.
He is not underrated, he is just not talented enough to nothing but a one hit wonder.
@@Jevezy Hit-making has very little to do with talent. Ever heard of Right Said Fred or Kajagoogoo?
@@nixworld767 LMAO! These are your examples of hitmakers? More mediocre talent?
@@Jevezy You inferred that he's not talented enough to be anything but a one-hit wonder. My point is that his talent, which speaks for itself, far exceeds the one-hit wonders i mentioned. The point is precisely that mediocre artists can be hitmakers while far superior talent can go unrecognized.
Please bring back this music and style. Stuff on radio today doesn't even hold a candle to this.

Terence Trent d'Arby changed his name to Sananda Maitreya. He was trained as a BOXER in Orlando and in 1980 won the Florida Golden Gloves lightweight championship. He modelled himself on Muhammad Ali. Terence received an offer to attend boxing school in the United States Army, but went to college instead.
Oh, thank goodness, thought I was getting confused, but it is D'Arby.
DA MONI . No question abt singer' life, but really disappointed on how he disappeared and stopped singing . I've attended at a concert when I was a girl . He was georgeus , perfect in singing and dancing . Nobody knows how he decided to stop singing . That's it .

This is Terence Trent Darby, I used to listen to song all the time walking to school in the late 80s😁
Had gender reassignment surgery and changed his name or gender dysphoria w no surgery but identified as a woman. The things you don't usually know. Never thought that would occur had a facade of masculinity in his music. We just personally don't know. By the way I am a psychologist and found it strange that in the 90s the kaw of averages for people thinking tgey need to transition was so high. I saw some of these people who had no gender dysphoria taught them its ok normal to have a mix of male and female traits-critical thinking. They were thankful they didn't make a big mistake. They were unaware and lived on autopilot someone said something or they noticed traits tgey felt were bad. All hell broke loose.

That's a good point. I remember he had a shitty attitude on interviews so that may have been a factor. I just made a comments bout how seriously he took his songs...but your totally right milli.vanilli did dress very similar
Plus he had Prince and Michael Jackson to compete with.
I was remembering Solid Gold. While wondering why my parents would let me watch it, I'd also, note (punny), those bands would lipsync. How long has everybody been doing this? Do they do it now and it's somehow not brought out?

When my mom first showed me this song... I said I just want his hair, and how soft his face looks
Terence Trent D'Arby is alive & well in 2020 & goes by the new legal name of: Sananda Maitreya. Why? Because he is so cool that he told them he wanted to change his name because Terence Trent D'Arby was dead & died a noble death. This guy is a cool artist. He has a website under his new name: Sananda Maitreya & does concerts which he shows in full on his website for FREE. Voice is grand, gritty, jazzy, eclectic & amazing as always. He writes as well...songs, poetry. Sananda Maitreya aka Terence Trent D'Arby is the "real deal." On a bio film his producer said that when they walked together in England, it was as if he/the producer didn't exist as all the girls were just looking at Sananda/Terence. He also said that Prince's peeps contacted him for DEMO tapes as Prince was interested in his music...but to use for himself. So the Producer said, "no, we were not going to give Terence's demo tapes to Prince's team."
Sananda/Terence is an amazing iconic artist that is doin' it "his way" like a real artist would if they could. He should be winning awards & more visual, but maybe not being is his choice as well...and very very luckily, (as we know about the Taylor Swift ownership situation) Sananda/Terence said that he "owns all of the songs that he wrote."
Oh I guess that's why somebody told me he died. 🤷🏾♀️

@@lesROKnoobz just the story the video tells, she ignores him, she laughs, they're at lunch, then they are in the bed... I understand it's just a video.... just pointing out the story it tells :)
Love it when he flips his hair. Voice is spectacular and I love the lyrics.
What? Girls do that🙄😂. I love the sexy looks he give with his beautiful eyes. Prince dud the same.
Love his voice and yes his hair is amazing
OMGs, when he sang through those Braids with those almond-shaped eyes!!! This is a guy who KNOWS FULL WELL how to use his assets to their utmost effect!
That's what I call a Beautiful Man.
Holly Gaskin He sure is.
Gorgeous
Holly Gaskin Oh yes!!!
No one what's to know anything about unthankful people. Talk to God please.
Definitely. The first time I saw him, I drooled.
This is my uncle
Brilliant music 🎶
I think I just saw them at Eau Claire Market in Calgary.
😱
What? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhĥh
Are you kidding ?????
Man could move! And had a great voice, as well as being SO pretty!
IN SOME places...(BUT, WHAT WAS 2:57-2:59), THOUGH?? 👀😄😨😨😂😂😂😂😂 'GREAT' VOICE, & #PRETTY BOY LOOKS, THOUGH! 😉😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
LMAO! I saw that too and I was like Wtf?

👉THAT'S ALL! 😄😊....
(I LOVE him, THOUGH)!! 😚 'GREAT' VOICE!!!" 👏👏👏
ikr fine as heck😍😍😍
Still impressed after all those years. What a voice. His stage presence is as good as it gets. One of the greatest combos ever done is when Terence played with INXS. The best of both worlds. Michael was so impressed he sat down for a while and just soaked it in. But the two singing together was incredible. Id kill to see terence get with jimmy barnes for a tour. That would be powerful.
How did I not know about them two singing together 😧 I have to see this, is it around on the inter web at all?
@@smurfylee yes. Ill see if i can find it in my library. Btw i havnt checked my phone in a while so you may have allready solved this issue. If so i apologize for wasting your time. If you have seen it youll understand what i was talking about. I think its really cool to see someone with unlimited talent sit in awe at smeone elses unlimited talent. To basically floor Michael during a show is impressive. Their energy is similar to the shows they did with jimmy barnes. That man can make the dead get up and dance. One of my go to songs to energize is Good Times. Those boys were in the zone when they recorded that one.
Hello from another Reynolds 😁
@@ChinaReynolds interesting name. My parents toyed with naming me Japan but went with David for some reason. Maybe were related. My dad was a musician for 70 years. Take care
@@smurfylee I think he open for INX in Germany while he was still on terminal leave.....in Nurnberg....I think it was there or Munich...naah it was Nurnberg....1987/88
he always looked to me as of Michael Jackson and prince had a baby
+cushe83 I've always said the same lol
Being a massive MJ fan I have to disagree but your comment made me smile .
He always seemed to have some of the best of both.
+meljr Agreee ...
👏👏👏👏😂😂😂😂😂😂
So much charisma in a single video!
The good looks, the rhythmic dance moves that includes the split, with a soulful soprano vocal range, = This video of TTD, that's for me is absolutely impossible too watch just 1 time". 💯🔥
Shout out to the very few people out here who just have that extra something special. He definitely one of them. 🔥
This guy is almost a hybrid of Prince And MJ.
Except for he was never caught doing anything untoward
With the voice of Otis Redding.
+Back2Goodtimes 👍👍👍
In the 80's he waa there rival
+marmackk Lmao.. He wasn't taken seriously by either artist.. least of all The Purple One..😅😅😅
I met him. Nice man with knowledge. Very talented. He danced like a god and his voice is incredible
I swear, this guy has the most unique voice ever
(in my opinion)
Nathália Nogueira I saw him live in the 80s at Brixton Academy, and like all true artists should, he sounded just as he does on this song!
Shld have been mega Global! I hear Prince was terrified of him ... that says it all ...
He is a "self acclaimed musical geneos
Try Sam Cooke.
andrew dods why would Prince be terrified? He was a complete musician who was a master at different instruments.
This guy should have been a lot bigger.
@Daughter of Enoch LOL k, even though he sounds nothing like MJ.
@Daughter of Enoch _"Micheal Jackson Tribute act"_
Way to advertise your ignorance.
@Daughter of Enoch WOW..... REALLY..
NO HELP 😔😔😔
One good thing about this corona mess is being able to drop back right to the 80’s with our songs. Class of ‘88
class of 86
lol that's the best part
Summer of 1988 I was seventeen and unfortunately I had to go to summer school but I had a girlfriend and some wheels. I remember waking up to this song and getting ready to head to school but first i would pick up my girl then head to school. It didn't mean a whole lot then but looking back now. What a memory!
Class of 80. Fabulously cool song.
Also class of 88!!!
I always wondered why He changed his name over 20 years ago I looked it up and it said because He felt like he was dead. WTH???
Awe I fell in love with him and his music when I first heard this song !!! So smooth & cool and he can dance !! Love Him !!!
Serina Shemayme sign your name across MY heart, was 9 when I 👂 it growing on 40 and still bump it thanx 2internet
He was so beautiful. :D
True! 😃😄😄😄😊
Still is.
He still is and he's working on reconstructing and reinventing himself.

This is a chick.
Richer p Sickert. Jealous much?
This guy has a one-of-a-kind voice.
65 still grooven to this song ❤️ 🔥
me too!
My parents hated this song so much. As a teen I had to listen to it loudly on a boombox over and over (in the 80's/90's this is how we listened to music we had no MP3 players or cell phones). We had tape mixes where we'd listen to the radio all day waiting for our favorite songs and make it for ourselves and of course our crushes. It was usually missing a part of the beginning or end..or the obnoxious would talk over that part.haha
Lol I was kiddie in the 90s and I had to beg my parents for a boombox and I'd wait by it waiting for my favourite songs to come on but then CD's became more popular. Damn I thought I was the shit walking the high school halls with my Discman and oversized headphones.
Karen Brown Ha yeah in the early to mid 80s I would sit by my boombox and hit record the second the notes of the next song started playing on the pop station. If it turned out to be a song I didn't care for or already had, stop tape and put it back to the spot I had it set to for the next song.
Lol I still have those tapes. A box full of them. 85-92 it's cool to hear the odd advertisement hgat slipped through
Karen Brown I remember those times.
My mom loved this song, she even bought the 45 record lol. The song played a lot on the radio where we used to work together.
2019 still one on my favorite artist.... This song is still popping

(MARCH 15, 2024)
The melody of this song is infectious. I often find myself whistling it out of nowhere.
Same here.
One of the most underrated artist of all time ☹
😂 😂 😂 😂
Agreed. He OOZES talent & S.E.X. Appeal. All Day Long.
Without question.
And why don't we say this of Prince, who could make mincemeat of him...!
@@lloydbishun43 Because Prince isn't underrated. EVERYBODY knows and freely acknowledges that he's one of the best ever.
One of the most underrated artist of all times...
Now you used the word underrated correctly! I totally agree
The way he slid to the mic...
