@Mr.Quintin1959: We're about the same age. I know a lot of "our People" in the states anyway, didn't get it at that time, but I always really enjoyed a lot of the SOS catalogue, and thanks to CD and MP3 and streaming technologies, have never stopped playing it over the years, or had to deal with the ravages of time and replays on old vinyl. A lot of SOS songs were actually deeper and more melancholy than the music lets on, but still enjoyable. In that vein, I recommend listening to "Afterhours" and the both the vocal and instrumental versions of "Forever Blue."
In the late 80's I was introduced to Corinne in a bar in Manchester, she was that beautiful that I could barely form a cohesive sentence. To this day it is still the only time i've been lost for words. God, I miss the 80's so much.
I finally had a chance to Breakout! After 30 years of marriage!!! Thank you swing out Sister. It wasn't all bad, but it just couldn't last. raised three beautiful children and I wish him the best! That was me!!!! Lol
You can't beat the positivity of an 80's song. Everything is cheerful and hopeful. Listening to this song lets me forget how utterly miserable I was in high school at the time.
Yea, exactly I was miserable in high school then too,but like Dad said. They were the best of times, and we arrived to be the best we could at everything we did
To quote a much earlier 80s hit song from the era I was still at school in: "Ooh what fun we had,but at the time it seemed so bad"! I was lucky with the schools I went to,though - the standards were good and the teachers at secondary (high) school were easy-going compared to what most of my peers experienced!
@@mcclift9451 my mother would say if I said I didn't want to go to school " Enjoy school because when you are older, you will give anything for one day back in school. She was 100% right. We kinda took it gor granted..
The year 1987 was literally THE WORST year of my life (it was during my college years). Too long and complex to explain here but suffice to say that during that whole summer I was one step away from suicide (fortunately, I never considered taking it) and during that entire year I was within five steps of suicide. (It does not help that the whole world thinks that that was a golden year in a golden decade--which both were not). This song was one of only two things (along with a three-day family trip) that prevented that year from being an absolute total dead loss and is the only song from that year I can now listen to. Partially it is because, like you said, it is an upbeat and cheerful song. Partially it is because to me it actually sounds like a 1980s cover of a 1970s song (which is the music era I prefer to listen to).
I battled a very aggressive form of breast cancer in 2012 at age 40. I was able to beat it and remain cancer free for 12 years. Annual mammogram came back normal today. @@dnmurphy48 Yes, maybe it's just that being temporal beings, some music subjectively acts "as if" it's timeless if it reenacts the feelings you had in the time when you used to hear it. Somehow making present the past as if disolving time, time-less ...

Personally I think nostalgia fools people. The Maggie Thatcher years weren’t great at all, the fashion was terrible and the music was cheesy. In the 90s things brightened up again and while the last few years haven’t been easy for everyone I’m happier to be alive now than I was in the 80s.
Reached number 4 in November 1986. Take My Breath Away by Berlin was number 1 at the time. Days ago I dreamed about this song that was part of my teenage years in the 80s and I ended up finding it. I had never seen the clip and it only brought me even more good feelings. Beautiful vocalist Corinne Drewery is now a friendly 61-year-old lady.
I had just turned 36 and landed in England in mid August of '86 to teach school for a year in Coventry on an exchange. This song debuted that September. Of all the great Brit pop songs that year this is the one I remember most as it was my break out of my culture and country. England is my second home now.
A rare eighties hit, that featured a wealth of horns in it... This music has stood the test of time. Well written harmonies, and musical arrangements. Fantastic!
I didn't pay much attention to this song back in the 80s but I've rediscovered it lately. I never noticed that the lyrics are so uplifting and encouraging! What a great song.
You watch your gosh darn mouth, Gregory Griffin the Third, twice removed!! I will not allow my disgustingly gorgeous ex-girlfriend-in-law to be exposed to this display of... MADNESS. AbSoLUtE MADNESS
Nostalgia, which takes us back to the best memories, healthy memories, even if melancholic, of our past, has no price but rather value, which asserts itself and is confirmed, in general, by the historical-cultural legacy that prevents us from being and/or to be lost without references to Life!
I’m 20 ( born in 2001), I discovered this group 1 week ago after seeing their name in the comment section of a Basia video. I’m now listening to them non-stop, I will buy their albums on Amazon. ( I even followed them both on Instagram and Facebook lol. ) I really don’t understand why they’re not bigger in popularity, they are soooo underrated. Even if I really wish that I was alive and an adult at this time ( 1987-1989 ), I still consider myself lucky to know about them. It’s nice to see that they are still active, too. If one day they make a concert in France ( more specifically in Paris), I will make sure to be there.
HAHAH such a gem. I'm 21 too and actually, My dad used to play these at my birthday parties when I was little, and ahh such nostalgia and good vibes! Have an awesome day!
Keep the 80's alive my young friends. It's a huge catalog of music though. I grew up then and I still sometimes find new 80's songs I never heard back then. The 90's were phenomenal too as they built on the 80's in large part and took it to a new level, but there's still much to be appreciated about the 80's.
I was 15 when this song come out and I remember never missing Friday night videos and MTV so I could watch THE most beautiful woman who has EVER walked this earth❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I won't say how old I was, but to this day, I thoroughly enjoy a selection from the 1980s treasure trove of great songs-coherent lyrics and beautiful melodies. Nothing like this today.
80s British pop was so smooth, catchy and uplifting. The style council, fairground attraction, sade, swing out sister.. so many timelines 80s British pop songs.

Didn't need Autotune, didn't need to perform half-clothed, didn't need to lip sync.

My gosh! My 80s life! Just hearing these lyrics as an adult! I 💯 percent needed this.
This song is so timeless. What an amazing production. All who were involved should be proud of themselves.
It's a great song and performance no doubt, but it's not timeless. It s very much an 80s song. The instant I heard the opening bars I thought "80s".
@@dnmurphy48 Yes, maybe it's just that being temporal beings, some music subjectively acts "as if" it's timeless if it reenacts the feelings you had in the time when you used to hear it. Somehow making present the past as if disolving time, time-less ...

The thing that gets 4gotten is. This was another tune in the 80s musical landscape. It got lots of airplay and nobody cared, just let the music

I loove this song because it is my memorial song for driving with my parents on weekends when I was a child.
This is such a positive, upbeat song and music video. No drugs, no sex, just friends having fun.
I agree with you because I am a qualified lesbian 😊
Cant lie... This was an 80's Classic. Im Here for it Now💯💯

Personally I think nostalgia fools people. The Maggie Thatcher years weren’t great at all, the fashion was terrible and the music was cheesy. In the 90s things brightened up again and while the last few years haven’t been easy for everyone I’m happier to be alive now than I was in the 80s.
1986 was a great year for hit songs. The list is amazing.
To me it’s really hard to say which year was the best in the 80s because there were great tunes all the time! I miss 80s. ❤️
@Bond Win I couldn't have said it better. 👍🙋🏻♂️
Not sure where u live but here in the US it definitely came out in summer of 1987.
most definitely especially this one 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Great year and era for Madonna, Michael Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston...
This is really the perfect 80's pop song.
It was an international hit back in 1987.

Kenny Jones way better than today’s music!
A timeless beauty.
I never saw this video and the radio stations never said who it was. I honestly thought all this time that Gloria Estefan sang this.

Days ago I dreamed about this song that was part of my teenage years in the 80s and I ended up finding it. I had never seen the clip and it only brought me even more good feelings. Beautiful vocalist Corinne Drewery is now a friendly 61-year-old lady.
@Fiona Mitchell you look younger than your age.
Feels good doesn't It. You should listen to their other songs as well. Forever Blue, Twilight World are pretty good. At least I think so.
I'm jealous of my cousins being teens back then. Me, literally an 80s baby.
Fantastic!
Another that features horns is Reward by the Teardrop Explodes.

i’m 21 (born in 2000) and i discovered this song at a trivia night. what a gem i love 80s music
I'm 16 but turning 17 this August and I know this song because of the radio.
I'm 22 years old, I discovered this song through a cassette of my dad
What an 80’s classic this is indeed! 🎤 🎶 🎵
