My roommate is not spooky, but he hears the theme music and will yell "let's give it a gooooo" from the other room. Never change Mike, we appreciate you.
Awesome roommate
I also say this with him and then at the end I say “I love you too mikey boy” 😂

For me, it's the music.
What fun!!! Mike is the man and his catch phrase is infectious....I say it at work on a county maintenance crew but, sadly, nobody gets my reference. That's alright, ill keep shouting it anyway.
No no, I often have to fight the urge to tie myself up and wrap myself in duct tape and hop into the nearest lake. There's nothing to see here. Definitely no serial killers.
S****** is extremely taboo in Islam, so it’s very possible he wanted to make it look like something else to avoid bringing shame on his family. This is likely what happened with flight MH370, for example.
I tried that once, couldn't even get out of the house 😉
@@FlashmanVC Really? He wraps himself in duct tape? NO WAY. They also said his body was mangled.
How many of the deaths were people wrapped in tape? 1 in 2008? Ok yeah then still no evidence of a serial killer

My older brother was a fitness buff, health nut, and rarely drank. He had an onset of anxiety, depression and insomnia. He accidentally drowned in a creek in the woods behind his house in the middle of the night. It was deemed a suicide..but the cause of death by drowning is unbearable and gutting. Rest in peace to all and empathetic condolences to their loved ones.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Prayers for yours and your family's healing.
I work SAR and train/handle cadaver K9s, and people do weird things around water. If something goes wrong they go to the water, or they go to the water and something weird happens...it's inexplicable.
Figuring out why is above my pay grade.
I'm sorry for your loss. ❤
So sorry for your loss. What a horrible way to lose your loved one. Hope you can find some peace❤
@@Nylak-Ottercan you elaborate on that at all?
@@illuminatiscotty5461 Not really without speaking out of turn. There's just things we find around accidental drowning deaths that are sometimes strange that don't go on record.
Depressed people do go to water sometimes. Same with drunken people. It's like a siren's call for troubled people. Accidental drownings and suicides are absolutely a thing and very common, don't get me wrong, and I'm sure that's what happened in OP's brother's case here.
But I do know through an associate I worked with in the NYPD who had worked K9 SAR in TX that purge fluid was found on the banks in some of the Ladybird cases by some of the dogs that were looking for a point of entry to the water, and they didn't share that. Dogs find a lot of things that aren't always put on record until more evidence is gathered.
I live in Austin and while I worked in bars I would hear many stories of men getting drugged on Rainey Street and barely making it home
There was an Austinite on tiktok that talked about how a dark SUV pulled up to him on Rainey saying he was his Uber/Lyft whatever but the guy hadn't ordered a ride so he was immediately suspicious. Apparently the driver was trying really hard to get him in the car. And the one victim's sister/friend DID say he commonly took a ride downtown to eat, whatever
I was just talking to my mom who lives in Austin and she said my stepdad believes the bartenders on Rainey are drugging people and drowning them in the lake. But this man also believes everything he reads on Facebook so I’m not sure if that’s a solid theory.
@PPillow dang they're really watching em👀
I would think with such a high population and probably illegal immigrants and other problems like the division in our country and problems since 2020 with high prices and so many drugs coming up through the Border. Austin seems to be a happening place lately it doesn't surprise me a lot of bodies would be found in a body of water that ran through there.

Mr. Hamad was my keyboarding teacher from middle school. Nice man. Talked about his camels all the time, sent books to children back to his homeland (i think), danced to bellydancing music in the middle of class while we were doing our assignments, and he always kept the jocks in line in his class. He was hilarious and was my favorite teacher for it. It was shocking to see him on the news years later where they claimed that it was 'suicide' and the women who found him was some strange suburban lady smiling like she was pleased to be on TV with her chihuahua. RIP Mr. Hamad.

Mr Hamad probably touched someone with a real Dad and ended up belly dancing with the fish.

Note: blood can’t seep out of a dead body who is cut up by ME in autopsy. Hours have passed and with no heart rate, blood starts getting absorbed as decomposition sets in. Bleeding doesn’t happen at that point. In fact, MEs can easily spot if someone tries to mutilate a dead body to try and frame someone or create false evidence by operating on the corpse. When a live body gets cut, it bleeds and the body tries to heal the cut which produces as tell-tale scar pattern. Cutting a dead body doesn’t show a scar because no bleeding, no inflammation process, no scar formation…because there’s no need for a dead body to heal
This is what some of the loony JFK conspiracists say… “the deep state doctors operated on Kennedy after he was shot to make it look like a bullet hit him from behind from the 6th floor window, when in fact he was shot from the front, the grassy knoll.” Sorry conspiracy buffs, later autopsists would look at the photos of the head and body and laugh at this conspiracy theory, because post death surgery would have been apparent
Ithe blood doesn't get absorbed. It settles. And they most assuredly CAN leak...
When you use the acronym ME… lol
Blood can absolutely leak from a corpse, especially if there's cavernous organ damage as described in the report. Depending on the moisture/temperature conditions the blood can remain lucid and drain from the body. Silly goose :)
In Travis county anyone that goes to the medical examiner usually comes into the mortuary looking like something that hangs from the ceiling in DOOM. And if that guy was in water when he died I’m sure her looked “horrific”. The people at the Islamic center are probably not used to that sort of thing. The description sounds like what I would expect to see. And yes there is usually blood everywhere because TCME removes all the organs in the stomach and puts them back in the torso when they are done and they don’t suture them back together. The only thing keeping the organs from rolling around is a plastic baggy.

Oh that’s not how we do it here in Austin. That is a perfectly logical way to handle this situation BBBBUUUUTTTTT, you might infringe on people’s right to murder people and we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT HAVE THAT!! 🤦🏻♀️ I wish this was completely sarcastic but our cities motto is Keep Austin Weird and they take that suggestion to heart. 🤷🏻♀️ They were all last seen in the same area, often from the same street, all “mysteriously” vanished and found deceased in Lady Bird Lake. That’s a HUGE FUCKING PATTERN!!! We also have a lot of corruption in the APD so we don’t have a lot of faith in them. 🤷🏻♀️

I think it means a lot that when the bars closed the drownings stopped means a lot. I don't think that there's no chance that no one could have been killed and dropped into the lake but it does make a sense that people who were falling into the water didn't make it out.
I think that what needs to be done for the safety of the community is a better railing system by that river where people walk by
So... you think there's a chance that no one could have been killed and dropped into the lake.
Or you don't think there's a chance that anyone could have been killed and dropped into the lake.
Or you think there's no chance that anyone could have been killed and dropped into the lake.
These are three very different statements. Your triple-negative makes it impossible to know which one of these you mean.
If anything, this video has taught me that alcohol and water don't mix, so I'm taking my liquor straight from now on.
Another factor that Mike didn't mention is that up until about 10-15 years ago, Rainey Street was actual a typical residential street with houses. Due to its proximity to downtown, it was rezoned to fit the rest of downtown. In the past 5-10 years, the number of high rises, bars, and clubs have absolutely exploded in the area. This can explain why these deaths didn't occur up until a few years ago. Just take a look at google street view history and you will see what I mean. The change is drastic.
So, you're saying the increased human activity around the area has lead to more bodies being seen?
Corporate America, always placing profit over safety... inly free for the rich and business owners here

You think so but how many people do you know that drowned ??
& then while drinking ??
Yea , not very common .
So don’t fall for that BS about YoungMen get drunk and fall in water
That’s ridiculous
We’ve partied around water for generations around here out at the lake and at our pools
Blessed Yes and Thankful Yes
Not a common way to go
I don’t care how waisted you get
You know not to go falling in water .
That's exactly what's happening where I'm at, all the locals who bought their houses for less than $100,000 are selling for much much much more and getting outta dodge. Unfortunately
I grew up in Austin and was warned at an early age that Town Lake (now Ladybird) was dangerous to swim in due to whirl pools. There’s thousands of new people moving in that may not know how dangerous the lake is and if drinking just might think a swim would be sobering.
Yeah newcomers from Cali or for UT don’t realize there’s a current to Austin’s lakes. They’ll run you right off spillways or get choppy really quick.
I grew up in NY where our reservoirs were built from creeks into a mountain range and it was amazing how fast a row boat (no motor allowed) could get pulled half a mile out to the middle.
It's according to my understanding a river, a flowing stream of water..never ever go swimming in a flowing stream of water , that a river ALWAYS is. Certain river/lakes" may be big and wide enough to have a natural beach area, but even then..nah, don't try swimming in a river.
wouldn't want to swim in water that is runoff from the streets of austin anyway
@@C-V-Z so true. The other warning was that it’s unsafe to eat the fish you catch.
That's what I was wondering. There's a place here called party rock that has bad under currents. They finally sectioned it off and banned all swimming.
I live in the area of the LBK and its scary to honestly go out alone as ANY person in Austin Texas. Man, Woman, you're ALL in danger. Be aware and be safe my fellow brothers and sisters.
Knew one of the guys that died in 2019. Used to go to the same church. He ended up being really fucked up and became homeless. News said he drowned. Swept away by flood waters in shoal Creek and found in Lady Bird Lake.
Interesting fact: He saved me from drowning in a pool at church camp when I was really young.
I would never dismiss the possibility of a serial killer. According to the FBI, there are 25-50 at any given time here in the states.
That’s scary 😧 😅
This just doesn’t sound like a serial killer to me. Different ages, backgrounds, etc.
This seems like it is due to the huge population increase in Austin. More people, more accidents, more attention.

Austin Native here. Shoal creek isn't just shallow, there's usually no water in there unless it recently rained.
Exactly. Im finding it IMPOSSIBLE to believe that a guy from AK legitimately drowned there
@@melissajacobs5822 correct. 2 bodies found there with trauma. The cops say they didn't have trauma but the families say otherwise.
If there was a “pusher” serial type, I think you would hear a lot more stories of those who survive. Not everyone would drown/die
This, right here. Even if the person was intoxicated when pushed in a lot would still be able to swim if they know how to. One would need to be pretty blacked out or in some way basically unconscious or close to it for someone to simply push them in. And with how much coverage it’s getting at least a few would come forward besides the random person posting online.
That's what I was thinking but the guy that survived his fall/push over the barrier was found to be drugged I think the rest were drugged & pushed as they weren't tested for that drug when found and I'm sure with that drug in their system they would have drowned.
@@taniamayer5125 that’s a fair point
I was thinking something similar. Even if it's accidental drownings, there must be a lot of people that fall in and don't down? It's not like you instantly die if you fall in water.
And no one would be taped up
There is definitely a serial killer, I was homeless in Austin a few years ago and the other homeless people told me not to go anywhere near that lake or sleep there. I always made sure to stay as far away as possible from that location.
I'm glad you listened! The homeless community always knows what's going on, and for the most part, takes care of it's own.
😮 smart of you to take their advice!!!!😊
Smart advice but this doesn't provide anything to prove or disprove there being a serial killer.
@@christinedelman887yep! If I’m being honest I’d take the homeless’/town crackheads’ words over the authorities words any day . They often have or know someone who had witnessed first-hand any shady activities that were going on in an area.
You want to know something about the area, talk to the homeless. Those people know what's up better than the cops.
I was a victim of being drugged with GHB last summer at a bar where some of these men were last seen. My story drew attention and there hasn’t been anymore deaths related to it since.
I was drugged directly by the bartender who coincidentally moved out of state recently. APD will do nothing about it.
Worth noting: Lady Bird J absolutely did NOT want the lake named after her. Also, Austin had the Servant Girl Annihilator in 1884/85. There are theories that it was Jack the Ripper.
Being roofied in Austin is almost a right of passage. It’s happened to me and I was lucky enough to have friends notice my abrupt behavior change. It’s terrifying.
Is it still detectable in a body after it has been in water for some time? Google didn't help
It's a democrat city what do you expect.. they are all pdf files and predators.

A right of passage?? Let’s not go that far. That’s a dangerous a mentality to have
@@shideyafudo Obviously never been to Austin. The motto is, "Keep Austin Weird".
Local austinite here - yes, there's a surprising amount of deaths compared to other bodies of water, yes, it's very possible some of these deaths are murders... but one thing non-locals don't seem to understand is the extent to which people get absolutely trashed in downtown Austin and Rainey street - it is the party capitol of texas and we absolutely over-serve people here a lot. I'm honestly surprised there aren't more accidental drownings down there with the amount of drunk people that walk past the river every weekend - so I would honestly guess that at best it's just a place where some murderers dump bodies on occasion given the high incidence of deaths there, but don't see strong evidence to support a serial killer as prolific as the internet claims.
My biggest claim to support this is that the deaths stopped during the pandemic when most bars were closed. Could be a lack of intoxicated victims for the killer, but I really think it's most likely just based on alcohol + water not mixing very well
I'm not an Austinite or from Texas but I agree. Plus the number of people that go out partying especially over the years is A LOT. Thousands. Even 1 thousand people is a lot if you think about it. So for 5, 10 or even 15 people to drown over a 15 year period in a body of water close to bars and clubs is not that surprising to me. I've never bought into the Smiley Face killer theory either so. 🤷♂
Sounds reasonable. That bit about nothing happening during the pandemic, especially. But Austin PD is not portrayed as a paragon here.
I'm from Madison Wisconsin and we have 2 large lakes that surround the downtown/campus areas known for HEAVY drinking (it is wisconsin after all) and we don't have many ppl drowning like Austin. I actually have a friend from Austin who moved here and she said the vibes of Austin are very similar to Madison...party town, progressive, college town, within a conservative state.
@@SuperStrik9 - To me the smiley face killer(s) seemed plausible, as the guys actually seemed to fit a "type".
I didn't see that here. Quite a few really weren't that young at all. Plus one of the older guys looked "weathered", one appeared to be wearing his prison garb. A few women thrown in the numbers, city visitors...seems to be a good mix.
Finally, the perfect answer... not wishy~ washy, & makes sense. I live in Buffalo Ny, where the Niagara river flows into lake Erie, HUGE under tow, & mostly drop offs into the water, plus the "clubs & bars" dont have that extreme type of access as Austin does to the water. We have 4am bar closing too, so you would think we would have something more like this,, but if theres a concert on the lake, we watch the sun go down, & then were usually going, inland. Plus your weather is warmer, hence maybe why ppl want to be by water, us, we wanna keep warm!! So i think its all Enviromental, in most ways....
Plus us North'ner's usually look at Texas as hot & desolate, but when i went to Austin, that water brings trees, & an inviting coolness by that lake/river, still why i think its the Enviroment you find yourself drawn too after a night of drinking in the warmer South...
I lived just a few blocks from Shoal Creek back in the 1990s. There are dinosaur foot prints in that creek! I also met Lady Bird Johnson!
Her husband was directly involved in at least a dozen murders, including his own sister...one of the most corrupt Presidents in US history...and that's saying something!
Lady Bird is Hank Hill's dog
In LA Crosse, Wisconsin, from 1997 to 2006, there was a total of 8 "drownings" that occurred with similar circumstances in the Mississipptli River...

I love the way he tells stories. Btw: if someone was going around pushing people into the water, wouldn't there be a lot of stories from those who survived it?
That idea seems unlikely to me, because it seems like there'd be many people talking about how they got shoved into the water at night by a stranger.. ESPECIALLY when these stories hit the news.
I believe it's likely a combination of people drunkenly falling in, and people going in on purpose for one reason or another (drunk, tired of living, etc)

I didn't hear you mention it but it's worth noting, swimming in Ladybird Lake has been BANNED since 1964 and the city regularly posts news reports discouraging swimming in it. This is extremely important when considering whether these incidents are accidents or attacks on people. The idea that accidental drownings come from swimming while drunk is preposterous. Falling in and drowning while drunk, maybe, but not from swimming. It's not like those found in the lake were unclothed either, like one would be if they were going for a swim.
Yeah because drunk people think straight 😂

If you ask me, being drunk makes just about anything more dangerous.
It doesn’t matter if swimming is banned.

@@thevocalcrone I'd believe that was more likely if any of the victims were naked or in their underwear, but that doesn't seem to be the case in any of them.
I’m an Austinite and I think your “accidental serial killer” theory makes a lot of sense. One of my favorite channels, The Lore Lodge, has been exploring this case and others like it that many say are related to the Smiley Case Killers, but their theory is a group of women targeting men at bars.
In Austin specifically, I think the population boom means there’s a lot more people to take advantage of and there’s probably several people drugging these people to rob them, not intending for any of them to ever end up dead. I think the spike in deaths can be explained by the fact that a lot of people moved here post 2020 (it’s become a tech hub with cheaper cost of living than other tech hubs) and the state of the economy lately has probably driven the perpetrators to become more desperate for cash and more likely to perform these druggings. Reminds me of a lot of the movie Hustlers - those women betted on the fact that men wouldn’t come forward and admit to being drugged and robbed because it was embarrassing, and that’s how they got away with it for so long.

I lived there for 27 years. Left in 2009 when my Dad got sick and I returned to my hometown. I used to kayak on LB Lake all the time. No bodies, when I was living there. This is scary.
I live in an area called Chain of Lakes, in the drinkingest state in the union. I've been here for decades and couldn't tell you the last time a body was pulled out of water. This story is crazy.
Hello, Wisconsin!
Right.... like wtf I'm surrounded by lakes in ohio lots of big cities around and it's huge news if a body is found and it's usually a missing child that was found by search parties. Drunk people can swim it's like all people do get on kayakes w a case of beer and a bottle floating behind them and get wasted. Wtf else is there to do. Also who tf commits suicide by jumping in a lake? It's not easy to drown yourself. This just seems insane.
@@kpandorastarand Hello (mostly) illinois
yet it happens everywhere, it all depends on a number of factors ESP design of the area and local drinking culture/party scene and austin being austin... yeah probably more than your state and the 2 states over in any direction - blackout doesn't describe how absolutely trashed people get.
Wisconsinites can hold their liquor. Texans, not so much.
This is crazy! I had no idea. As an airline employee, I’ve walked this bridge on layovers many times. Heck I’ve even stolen a road sign there. Had no clue
I'm telling...
This conspiracy reminds me of the city of La Crosse, WI. The downtown area is right on the ragin' Mississippi. As per Wisconsin, there are a lot of bars and heavy drinking culture closely tied to the three colleges in the city. Mostly men drown in the river. Some theorize there may be a killer taking advantage of these circumstances.
I 100% agree with your theory. I used to manage a hostel on the lake. LOTS of drunk people. LOTS of opportunities to fall into the lake. I also grew up near Seattle, also LOTS of opportunities to fall into the water. But you really have to see and feel the local area of Austin to understand. Bottom line, you are likely correct on all accounts. This area is full of drunk college students and tourists. More than any area I have lived or worked. And I’ve been all over the country.
But they have the date rape drug in their blood...
I live in Whitechapel where Jack the ripper stomping grounds were.. i have walked down the Ol' cobbled alleyways at 2/3/4/5am in the mornings it's still got a very haunting feel to it...
We definitely don’t mind LONGGGG videos!!! Thank you for the hard work Mike!!!
It strikes me that if there are so many people who believe there's something going on, the APD not bothering to make a statement explaining why they believe it isn't the case is bizarre. The longer they shrug it off, the worse people will see.
Hey, you too! Hope you’re having a good week, Mike. Thanks, as always for all you do!
Thanks for being here!

Really liking the background. Really liking your vids.❤
Mike nailed it: Young males are risk-takers, fearless, and love to drink. I'd guess most, if not all, those deaths are accidental.
Nine-thousand-ish more subscribers, and you'll get to two-million, Mike! Go, Mike, go! So so happy for you. I've been here from just about the beginning and your channel is the BEST storytelling channel out there.
I agree too, but in a very infinitesimal number of cases maybe the risk was wandering down to the water with a murderer.
We all know that there is a serial killer on the loose. It's called alcohol. It kills hundreds of thousands of Americans every year.
But most of the bodies are full of thr date rape drug
Love Mike but tbh Ballen has him beat. Just wish Ballen still posted videos more often.
I don't think that it's the case 100% of the time, but I don't think it's some grand conspiracy either. You're correct, most of them are probably benign, but it also likely includes some actual murders as the other cases make it easier for a legitimate criminlnal to fly under the radar.
You know things are strange when Mike is the most cheerful person uploading today.
Nowadays, serial killers are not as depressing as headlines.
And the headlines fuel a culture that breeds violence and more serial killers 😅
Basically the same thing, it's just a matter of numbers 😕
The only difference is that most serial killers don't run a country and or commit heinous acts on the scale were seeing today in one certain country
@@112523 Precisely.
Congratulations on 2 million subscribers, Mike. No one deserves it more than you. Thank you for the excellent videos. This is the best YT channel I watch. Your humor and respect for the victims and their families is second to none.
I’m from San Antonio which is about an hour away from Austin and I literally had a friend who was drowned by someone in the “Riverwalk”. They never found out who it was. It makes you wonder
I live in a town w a river and they find 30-50 bodies in it every year. There are legends around certain sites and unfortunately a mystique has built up around murder, suicide, and doing stupid stuff on the river at night, so it's a vicious cycle. I feel so awful for the families 😢
Yes !! I grew up in The City of Rivers!! Tombigbee, Black Warrior River’s Emerge and Empty into the Gulf. I have lost count sadly with the number of drownings through the years. Freaky Accidents Example: Ran Over with Boat Motor, Fall in while Fishing on the bank and boats. Going over the Lock & Dam. Erie accidents every year. Most Heartbreaking are children without life jackets. The rivers are muddy so you can’t even see anything 1 inch under that water. Huge Yellow Fin Cat Fish. 60lbs or more.
And where are you from @lightbeingform sounds crazy!
Sadly as humans we struggle to cope with losing people and when we don't get all of our questions answered which leads people to think there's something bigger happening when there isn't. Don't think there's a serial killer here, just a tragic set of coincidences.
Cap
You're so close to 2 mil, Mike! I remember watching you right before covid with less than 500k. You've came a long way and you deserve every bit of it 💖
Honestly if accidental drownings are a persistent issue in an area, wouldn’t it make sense to increase surveillance or safety measures in the area? Better guard rails, regular police patrols, security cameras? Even if there isn’t a serial killer the continued negligence is disturbing.
As an austin resident, I have to point out that Rainey street is a party street where you go to get wasted. Being very drunk and falling into the water isn't the best combination.
Im a criminal justice student at the nearby Texas State University. I recently wrote a paper in a class about serial killers on the Rainey St Ripper. Ive been a fan of your channel for many years and it blew my mind that you covered this. In my humble opinion, i think there is a serial killer active in the area but i think the body count is probably around 6 or 7. Like you said a lot of these are either accidents or one-off killings. Im a little curious how you even heard about this story to begin with, because as you said, the police are downplaying it. Either way, its super cool you covered it. Keep it up man. We love ya.
It just strikes me as Riley's death in Tennessee. That felt like he was slipped something and was followed so an inside outside little thing they're running their. Always kind of wondered if the :-) was more of a cult Club then just a one of person
I would also suggest especially with some of these more high-profile cases to follow the numerology of it because I think that is a part of it like Cole and the 13th date
I heard about this area on one of Mikes comments and researched it , pretty mental x
It is all over the internet. All different stories of the cause. The spiked drink and Grindr stories seem popular and real to me..
Share your paper!
I’m not saying there isn’t a serial killer in this area, but there are cameras everywhere around that lake. It is believed said cameras caught one of the deaths that was ruled accidental by police, but with them not expanding on some of the other deaths is cause for concern. If there is a serial killer they have direct knowledge on the security setup in that area.
As someone who just stayed on the lake recently, I agree. It's an incredibly busy area. Like there's paths but they have rails too. He couldn't see them from above in Google maps. But they're definitely there. Who knows about a serial killer. Kind of scary to think of people preying on inebriated college kids. And to think it's probably a thing bigger than just ladybird lake is even scarier.
I might add that growing trees, shrubbery and such will block views.
Also, it's been said in many cities that just because they exist doesn't mean they work.
You can't get justice in a leftist city.
Probably a cop themselves

I worked in search and rescue for awhile, these numbers are pretty low for most water towns. We don't always report publicly what we find unless the family consents.
I’ve been a fan for a while now but never commented.
Bro ur humour and sarcasm cracks me up all the time even late at night waking up my house 😂
These cases are tragically wild! 💔 🕊️ ☮️ Rest in peace. ❤
As a King of the Hill fan, I can't help but notice the connections to the show: KOTH takes place in, Arlen Texas (fictional city) & Hank Hill lives at 123 Rainey St., & Hank's dogs name is, Lady Bird.
Woah, that's weird
Good connection, I missed that but now my mind is spinning! 🙀🤯
So what you’re saying is Dale is going around and drugging people’s drinks. Got it.
What does Mike Judge know that we don't?!
I just looked up the stats for the River Thames. Average is 30 bodies dragged out of there annually. I find that surprising.
The novel Our Mutual Friend has a character that makes his living robbing dead bodies he drags out out of the Thames. It was written in 1864.
Most of the poor victims fall in and break their necks on the crust of detritus 🙈
Austin back in the 60s and 70s was the greatest place to be . It was affordable , laid back , and full of friendly hippies. It's so sad to see it now i.e. crowded , and a middle class that is forced to live like the poor because of crazy expensive housing.
I live in Austin. I can tell you that APD is absolutely worthless. This isn't sour grapes, but after watching (firsthand) open violence of APD on a police stop that was so innocent of a young black man, I started going out with a local group that videoed police at stops to be certain people's rights weren't consistently being violated (which they were). Despite never being disruptive or combative (verbally or physically, of course), despite adhering to all laws, even though I'd been threatened and even arrested twice (with charges that were dropped every time, even resulting in apology once to avoid me suing them), I'd been roughed up, myself, by APD trying to support citizen's rights. So in doing this, I was able to witness APD's laziness, their blind one-sidedness, their gross tunnel vision, and their consistent willingness to ignore the obvious and sacrifice things like chain of custody, correct documentation, tampering with witness testimony, etc.
So, people need to take what APD says with the grain of salt the locals do. I won't dispute that LBL can get cold enough that hypothermia is a possibility, and that as an EMT, I've seen bad judgement, alcohol and lake like result in drownings, those are definitely possibilities, but at the rate we're seeing bodies pop up and the Austinites that are being found... I just think it all merits investigation from a police department that isn't so poorly mismanaged and so bad at their current fucking jobs.
I can’t be the only one to be thinking about King of the Hill when you say “Lady Bird Lake” and “Rainey street” (Lady Bird was Hank’s dogs name and Rainey street is the name of the street they live on in the show)
Same here!
Probably not a coincidence since Mike Judge is from Texas
There's somethin wrong with that boy 😂
Uncanny the way cartoons with mainly adult audiences tell of things in the news several years after such cartoons air. Coincidence? (Yeah, probably) Selection bias? (Most definitely!)

I've lived in Austin since 2007, and I must say, APD did a good job keeping this under wraps. My community (which is rather large) never really talked about it, and I never really heard all of this info until now, though I did know bodies kept popping up.
Crazy stuff
Years ago there was a spew of young college men found drown in the Mississippi River. Always an accident, but then young men suddenly just stopped "accidentally drowning". Hmmm.... Why so many during a specific set of years, and then suddenly none?
Nobody ever went broke betting against the quality of Texas law enforcement.
I live in Brisbane, which is on a massive river. We never have “accidental drownings” even though the party strip is literally ON the river. Also Sydney city is on a harbour… again, no “accidental drownings”. There is definitely something odd going on there.
It's just a tragic series of coincidences. Maybe you have better safety measures, maybe it's just safer there overall. There's not serial killer but the city needs to improve safety measures around that lake for sure.
@@-xxMelissaxx-lots of suppositions with an overtone of fact. Kind of off-putting.

Love seeing the 2 million mark my brother! Started watching before like 100,000 even told my mom back then you had one the best channels by far and to see almost 2 million more ppl agree and finally realized its awesome. Ive seen you grow naturally its awsome. Your personality sells it my brother. Serious with just a hint of light hearted comedy makes perfect combo. Plus your innocence you portray, and your quality in production makes the perfect mix i guess lol. Glad your seeing this kind of success. I remember before the channel really had a formula, was sometimes a few short stories, you actually going visit places, discussing serial killers, fbi list, you name it. Once you got this formula you stuck with i seen the confidence grow and boom off to races... just cool to see idk im old now i guess lol. Get joy in little stuff like seeing ppl who actually deserve good get good! One love brotha!
One possible reason for a recent spike in deaths is that we as people are paying a whole lot less attention to our surroundings than we pay to our phones.
Then why aren't people getting run over by cars or falling down stairs every day? In the context of this video your comment in ridiculous. "Nothing to see here." Are you a cop or married to one?
Both are true. The most dangerous thing someone can do is walk around with earbuds/distracted by music or watching content on their phones. I live in Memphis. You couldn't pay me to walk around staring at a phone or with earbuds in my ear. Not a 12pm and DEFINITELY not at 12am...
I live three blocks from where Eliza Fletcher was kidnapped, raped, shot dismembered, and thrown in a garbage can. She was jogging at 4am.
The Julio Santos one bothers me. Imagine thinking that your loved one was about to start their life after accomplishing something great. And instead. Just gone. That one specifically hurts me
Who ties themselves in tape to suicide? Bizarre. More bizarre is the cops thinking it's suicide. Something is up with that! Doubtful it's a serial killer but I'll be amazed if all these deaths are nothing more than a vast number of accidents! Love the new backdrop too Mike. ❤
“A mix of water and alcohol.” I’ll never put water in my whiskey again!
FINALLY! I've been patiently waiting for you to cover this!! As a lifetime Houstonian, we've been watching these cases because Houston has also had our own cases of men turning up in our bayou and our ship channel. Almost always men, drunk, walking alone, and from a club/bar area here in Houston. They started ramping up around the same time as the Lady Bird Lake deaths.
I'm really wondering if they're related.
Anyways longtime fan here so I hope you see this message!
Alright, now to start the show. 😁 Let's give it a goooooooo!!!! 🏃♀️🤸♀️🏃♀️
I'm born & raised H-town, now living in Austin since 2001. Like you, I absolutely believe there is a connection in deaths between the 2 cities, with the addition of New Orleans (Bourbon st) & Memphis (Biel st) as well. All 4 locations are similarly known for bar/tourist streets near scenic bodies of water. I'm convinced there is a well-organized group of theives who are supplied with benzo type drugs, & trained in slipping them into the drinks of bar patrons in these areas in effort to easily rob them...not just of $ and valuables on them but also eventual identity theft. This group may even consist of bartenders, because some of these locations have temp bartender schools that allow businesses (bars) to hire temp bartenders short-term during busy nights or scheduled city events. I know the temp bartender companies definitely exist in Austin & Memphis, and I bet Houston & New Orleans have similar businesses. In February of this year, there was a group arrested in TN that had ties back to Texas doing exactly this. I don't think killing is the ultimate goal, but it could be a common and convenient "accident" allowing just enough time to financially benefit while also covering their tracks.
@cb3514 oh snap! I didn't even think about the bartending aspect of it! We absolutely have schools here that teach flairing and mixology.
I was looking for the list of ppl found in both Houston & Austin over the last two years but can't seem to locate it. We had another body found here recently.
You hit the nail right on the head with this whole comment though. 👏
I agree with you...this has to be some type of organized group committing these deaths.
@@cb3514bam I was going to say Tennessee and look at the Riley case I definitely feel like that black car was following him and possibly also the white van. But everything you said here I have said also. It's an inside outside thing. And that was confirmed in the Riley case that the bartenders and staff still floated to the more busier bars each night
I have a question about the demographics of the victims. There seems to be a high percentage of POC or alternative lifestyle people.
Not enough curiosity to dig into it, but it crossed my mind while watching this.

Oh wow. I live in ATX and stopped going downtown bcuz of this. So creepy to know noones be caught! Thanks for covering this!
Unwarranted satisfaction that you hit 2M on a video about my home town. 😅
going off of what the redditor posted in march 2024: in 2018, i was drugged at a bar (Academia, now permanently closed) on 4th street in austin while out with friends. i was drugged so severely that i was dying, so i woke up in a hospital bed. this bar was about 3.5 blocks north of the edge of the water where many people have been found in or were last seen.
one of the friends i was with knew the owner of the bar we were at and told him that i was drugged that night, and he told her one of the bartenders working that same night i was there was also drugged. the bar owner told my friend that there had been a huge uptick in people being drugged at their bar and neighboring bars (LGBTQIA+ bars). apparently, the owners of the bars in that area (in 2018) believed the area was being targeted due to their regular clientele and were very certain someone or a group of people were hitting that area in order to hurt people in that community specifically.
You probably weren’t drugged, most people who claim to have been drugged just drank too much.
Their always playing victim. Just like the Jews. You rear end them in traffic and it’s a hate crime.
@@truckmusic1yeah seriously. If I ever suspected myself of being drugged. I’d be in the emergency room getting blood test done.
My last comment was taken off. But this group seems to never miss an opportunity to make it about them. They love being the victim and center of everything they can. Not surprising.
Drugging or spiking drinks has gone up in recent years. Be it mostly at LGBTQIA+ bars or clubs. Some could be someone targeting a specific group of people. However I do believe it is someone within that community. Much like other famous serial killers who couldn't cope with their inner feelings. Look in the past. LGBTIA+ bars have always been a hunting ground for serial killers.
