Her mom literally died protecting her daughter from this man. Her worst nightmare was playing out in her last moments, and her last thought was probably realizing she hadn’t succeeded in saving her. It’s so monstrous. It’s beyond evil.
I followed this when it happened and still think about Jamie and if she’s okay now. She’s so brave, but she shouldn’t have had to be. She was just a kid. I hope she’s been able to find some peace in her life. I hope she took survivors like Elizabeth Smart up on their offers to support her. Few could ever understand such a horror.

Jayme got a ton of support from the community, and some credit has to be given to Elizabeth Smart, who came out to support Jayme and fight for her privacy. That’s what’s so scary about this case. Like literally no motive similar to most abductees or killers… literally just a chance sighting of her and he decided then and there to do all of this. There’s absolutely no way her parents or anyone she knows could’ve prevented this from happening. He had no previous relationship or knowledge of her and her family, just was driving around one day and randomly saw a little girl getting off a bus across the street then decided to murder her entire family and abduct her. Had no previous record of violence or anything similar whatsoever. And also the fact that he like didn’t even really have a plan for after he abducted her. Just kind of stowed her away under his bed with no real plan like most abductors do. Just the randomness of it all is so frightening and just fucked all around…

Thank you Mike for telling this with mad respect for Jayme. I feel all of your uploads are done with respect, but this was different. I appreciate the fact that you modify the way you tell a story based on the people, their ages, & gender who had to endure it then survived it. You are AWESOME!!!

Yes few true crime creators can walk that line of keeping humor in their videos while staying also respectful of the victims

I remember this! I live in Minnesota (it’s right next to Wisconsin) and we had sooo much news coverage about Jamie Closs. I’m still so grateful that she survived. Heck, Kare 11 is one of my local news stations and a Kare 11 news anchor was shown in the video.
And damn, Jake Patterson graduated the same year as me.

I'm glad they were able to put this sicko away forever without forcing Jayme to have to relive her trauma in court.
I hope that other weirdo is now on several watchlists, he gives off a vibe that we'll probably see him in a future That Chapter episode.

You put out all this content and it's absolutely fantastic. But we all know this has to take a toll on your mind. Researching and editing all this incredibly dark content cannot be easy. Thank you for everything you do.

Sometimes when I see its a case I'm super familiar with, I don't care to watch. This kid though, she suffered such horror, and she was so smart, she made sure the police could get what they needed. She wasn't going to disappear, she wasn't going to let him get away with his crimes.

Upon hearing Mike say; Jayme is a true hero! She rescued herself...
I began to cry for all "OUR" children who tried to free themselves from the Disgusting Monsters who's taken them. And sadly never made it. Also the children who were to young and terrified to understand and know how to escape. My heart truly weeps for them.
