I was at that show. The song is epic. Give Children of the Damned a listen.
Still epic after nearly four decades! Maiden will always be one of my all time favorite bands: true musicians and entertainers!
Iron Maiden - Alexander the Great! One of my favorites
THE CLANSMAN!!! (Rock in Rio) it Will make you so Happy!
exactly!!
This is one of my favorites!! Heath your the man. Soak it all in. It’s so captivating
Hallowed Be Thy Name is a must!!
Yeah! Everyone else seems to have done the 1982 version from the Hammersmith Odeon. But the Rock in Rio 2001 version is also great. I'd choose the latter one.
Mr. Rock N Roll AWESOME!!!
Can’t wait to see it
Goooooooo🎧🎧🔊
"Soak it all in?" With all that idiotic carry on? I doubt it. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
ya for a newbie to Maiden Hallowed be thy name is a must, show off Bruce's vocal range with the long note at the beginning
The Clansman - Rock In Rio 2001. Epic energy!
i was there in 84' i was 15 and the show was so good we went back the next night and bought scalper tickets.im 51 now and still "UP THE IRONS"
Oh yeah... I was @ the Live After Death concert, 3 of the 4 nights it was recorded!!!
Epic! This was from a poem by, I think, Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I remember when this song came out, I was in HS. My English teacher, Ms. Hoagle, played this for us. She was awesome. You could tell the headbangers were singing along and banging their heads, while all the others stared stupidly at nothing in particular. Good memories, Thanks man!
Where Eagles Dare
Hallowed Be Thy Name
The Trooper
Flight of Icarus
Honestly dude, in my opinion this is Iron Maiden's best song, and their best version of it as well. You have no idea how much I love seeing other peoples reaction to this version, especially when the musical tension explodes in the middle part with all the solos and fireworks! Welcome to the Maiden family dude, if you want any more Maiden songs I'd strongly encourage:
Dance Of Death (Studio for the solos, Live for the overall experience),
When The Wild Wind Blows (Studio or Live),
Hallowed Be Thy Name Live
Fear Of The Dark Rock In Rio 2001,
Sign Of The Cross Rock In Rio 2001
Caught Somewhere In Time (Studio)
Paschendale Live,
Alexander The Great.
That's honestly just a handful, cause there's a lot of Maiden to get through. If you do even one of these songs based on this list I'll be happy!
A metal classic!
Next Iron Maiden "Hallowed be thy name" (live,1982) probably the best version of this song 🤘
Rock in rio 2001 Is my favorite version
i hate the '82 version , blame it on the camera man during adrians solo , he focused on bruce playing air guitar instead of showing adrian. that alone makes that version crap.
Yes rock in rio 2001 best version ever.
Donnington 1992, nothing beats that version. if you say otherwise be ready to throw hands lol
@@nameless_channel5070 rock in rio 2001 :) best version :)
Maiden : Seventh son of the seventh son
Hahahahah yes, there's hope!! This is an excellent way of introducing yourself to Iron Maiden's longer songs, I'd recommend Alexander The Great and Empire Of The Clouds too.
My 5 favourite Maiden-songs: Aces High, Caught somewhere in time, Alexander the great, the prisoner, Stranger in a stranger land
Alexander the great is great because it tells a historical story and facts.
This always reminds me of some of my contemporaries who took up reading Coleridge thanks to this track. Up until that point, they wouldn't have appreciated the suggestion they read poetry of any stripe.
Love your reactions Heath this is why they are the biggest metal band in the world, 2 minutes to midnight is another must & wasted years as well UP THE IRONS
One of the greatest songs ever written for sure. And your reaction did it justice!
*_"Hallowed be thy name"_* is only one of the greatest Metal songs of all time!
Admittedly it's over reacted to, but for a good reason. It's kinda compulsory If you're doing _Maiden._ Another true classic, one that almost everyone misses is *_"Revelations."_*
Chur from NZL.
lol yeah, that be like doing 'Judas Priest' and missing out 'painkiller'
Perfect analogy Orcus!
OMG yessss...Revelations LIVE!
Caught Somewhere in Time by themselves 🤘🤟🤘🤘🤟🤘🤘🤟🤘🤟🤟🤟🤟🤘🤟🤟🤘🤘
I’ve been blessed to see Iron Maiden live at least 8 times, first time on the Seven Son of the Seven Son tour at the Forum in Inglewood California, and I have never been disappointed, last time on The Legacy of the Beast tour, September, 2019 , unbelievable show. Catch the live if you can. 😊
Saw them a couple of weeks ago, they were amazing. First saw them over 35 years ago. Every member is in their 60s now, hell the drummer is 67, and they just kill it. They actually never were on the radio much back in the day, but developed one of the most loyal fan bases, and filled arenas every night because their music is great, and their concerts are amazing. And yeah half the crowd in the arena a couple of weeks ago were young.
🍁Just like Nightwish, Maiden sounds better LIVE!!! Back in the '80s, I seen them live 9 times and met Steve Harris once. The '80s are the golden age of Metal.🤘
The 90's were, because that's when Nightwish started! 😉
Buy yes, you are right, the 80's brought us lots of amazing bands!
@@TheSildra 💜💚NIGHTWISH!!!🧡💙😁
Fucking right!
@Dan W You drank a beer with Adrian?! Now that is frickin cool!🤘
Nightwish is a hobbyband comparing to Maiden
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (originally The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere) is the longest major poem by the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, written in 1797-98 and published in 1798 in the first edition of Lyrical Ballads.
Maiden pretty frequently used literature and historic topics in their songs, e.g. "The loneliness of the long-distance runner", "Alexander the Great", "The Trooper", "Aces High", "Revelations", ...
Hallowed be thy name is a great song.
HALLOWED BE THY NAME
To me this always feels like Maiden's "Ghost Love Score." This really is a great song, never get tired of listening to it.
Irons Up 🤘🏼
The prisoner
Powerslave
Hallowed be thy name
Fear of the dark
Killers
All iron maiden classics
Great song... Great band.. The goat👏🔥💯👍
Now Fear of the dark live Rio, and the acapella (!) version by Van Canto. Best metal song of all time!
There's some stuff competition for that top spot. I love Iron Maiden. I really do. But I am not convinced that song takes #1. With songs like Painkiller, Paranoia, anything off the Ride the Lightning album, Hallowed Be Thy Name, and so many others... how to decide??? Anyway, it's all subjective in the end, I suppose. 🤘😁🤘
Fun fact... Steve Harris (Bass player, founder, main composer/songwriter) likes composing long and epic track, and is a big fan of..... Tuomas Holopainen... ;-)
One of his favorite songs is.... "The poet and the Pendulum"
Everything happens for a reason :-)
Is it too much to hope to see Bruce and Floor sing together?
Thanks for commenting that. Never heard of them before and really enjoyed that song!
"Are we almost done" said no one ever while listening to this song until now!! Wow!
@@MrRockNRollLive all good! If u look at my post before this one, i know exactly where you werre at cause it happened to me! lol just poke'n fun at it! You are killin the reactions I watch so far and I can tell u appreciate and understand what your hearing! I'm in!
I watched same song reaction video by someone else and he said at the end that it's like Iron Maiden just decided to "Fuck up the world for 13 minutes" I never heard it said like that, but he's right! lol
@@MrRockNRollLive I almost forgot to mention that during thanksgiving with my family when we exchange a few things were thankful for in our life, this song has made list cut for many years now! lol. True Story!
Heath I have seen this band live here in Finland at least six times for now. Nico is so bad ass behind drums, and Fly Captain Bruce deliver good show always! Not forgetting rest of pro band members! 🤘🤘
Living proof of quality!!!! !!!!!!!!❤❤❤
Be Quick or be Dead - Live at Donington 1992! Everybody asks to react to their newest concerts. Check it out this one! The amount of energy back then.
Members: Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Janick Gers: Guitarists. Drummer: Nicko McBrain. Bassist: Steve Harris. Singer: Bruce Dickinson.
The World's Greatest Metal Band. The World's Greatest Live Band.
iron Maiden's it's gonna get youuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!
Iron Maiden one of my favs of all times, had the chance to see them live twice and OMG... Powerslave from Flight 666 DVD is from their first concert in Costa Rica, and Oh boy it was epic!
I rarely leave a comment but this is one of the songs you don't want to end. Pure eargasm.
Iron Maiden - The Red and The Black - live at The Book of Souls
Your enthusiasm brings me back to when this album came out. 1984, I was16 years old. You are right, there is hope. I don't think anyone in this audience was alive then (and probably not you). Kick ass!
My favorite iron maiden song. 13 minutes never felt so fast
I agree. Hallowed be thy name live next. It’s all 🔥
Probably my favorite Maiden performance
Watching this reaction, to the most epic song, of the most epic heavy metal band of all time, was worth every second brother.
Bruce Dickinson would be proud of you man.
greatest band out there, defitively the best concert i´ve gone and the best songs I will ever listen
Those triple guitar harmonies are killer!!
Powerslave, To tame a Land , Loneliness of the long distance runner
I was at the show in Toronto for this tour. Absolutely amazing.
Check out Fear of The Dark live Rock N Rio or Pachendale live both are Outstanding.
Hi Mr Rock n roll. Absolutely love your reactions. How on earth have you just recently noticed Iron Maiden?
You seem to be an educated guy in the genre of rock n metal!
Anyway, your vids are great so fore the greater good of god don’t ever stop doing what you do 🤘🤘🤘
Like all Maiden fans out there I hope you’ll drag you as out to one of their gigs som time in the near future.
Looking forward to see more of your reaction here on the tube.
Best regards from Sweden 🇸🇪
Those harmonizing guitars are so fucking good
The Clansman, Live , Rock in Rio , That'll Blow Your Mind..., you might need to reinforce those walls..., Cheers!!!!!
The look on his face when the solo section drops is priceless. Going along with it, headbanging, and then realising how epic those chords are right before Adrians solo. Insane!
I was listening to that 85 recording of live after death - fresh at the time. Still fresh now, fine song
everytime i listen to this song it gives me goosebumps, so epic song. now try to something from somewhere in time album, you will not regret
Iron Maiden is rock gods !! They rock your socks off !! Love them so much
Nothing better than some beers and headbanging at an Iron Maiden concert.
Could I please see them play this live??!!?? My maiden journey would be complete
Unfuckingbelievable right?!!!!! Truly a masterpiece. I'm 52 been listening to Maiden since I was about 15. My favorite all time band. Love seeing you and all of the other reaction people enjoy them for the first time. Brings back memories for me. Keep it up. And "Up the Irons" my friend!!!
I was 13 years old my first cd was one from Iron Maiden I got it from my father🥰 my love for rock was born that day
THE CLANSMAN- ROCK IN RIO 2001
Pure musical greatness!
Dude.... Ive been listening (and a show in the Igloo 80's). Iron Maiden are incredible..... If I had kids they would be fans... but what most miss is the HISTORY lessons you get from them. If you listen to this song ... Just read the Poem.... and yes, they sound amazing live and they tour somewhere almost every year and get better with age
I love your reaction to this AMAZING BAND ROCK ON
What's really great about this particular reaction video, at exactly 12:14 of video I saw your life change for ever right in front of my eye's just like mine did listening to this very song live many moons ago! Welcome good to have you, were all friends Here! lol
I've been listening to this song since the release of the Powerslave album and of course Live After Death. I've seen Maiden quite a few times throughout the past 40 years including this tour and this song, this version still gives me goosebumps.. I recommend you react to The Clansman from Rock in Rio 3, Paschendale from Death on the Road & Hallowed be Thy Name from Rock in Rio 3.
Iron maiden is one ,if not, the best bands to see live. Can't say enough.
I'm glad you found them one of the best bands ever
And they only topped it with Seventh Son, those two tracks are soooo epic
Grandfathers, Fathers, and Sons...all headbangin at the same time.
This is the song that made me pick up the bass. Saw them at Long Beach Arena in '84 on the Friday night they filmed for Live After Death. Love this version, watching Steve Harris really into it and then when he looks over at the 3 "kids" and smiles. Priceless!
Dance of Death is another great song of theirs. But honestly I like all of it. Also, check out Amon Amarth Raise Your Horns. There is a lovely surprise near the end of the video. And speaking of lovely, Nightwish Stargazers live at Tampere. Keep rocking!
As others have mentioned, the inspiration for the song and the source of most of the lyrics is the epic poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, first published in 1798.
During 'the Quiet Bit' on the Powerslave tour, in the heat of Sacramento; so hot they were burning their fingers on their strings, Nico McBrain, the drummer went for a swim in the open air pool behind the venue's stage
Listen to “ The Trooper”.
Sign of the Cross from Rock in Rio is good. Anything from Flight 666. You should do Iron Maiden so you get to see Eddie.
If you want a quick and fun Iron Maiden video, check out "Speed of Light."
If you want another epic, and long, song, check out "Empire of the Clouds."
Both songs are from the latest album "The Book of Souls."
This.is.the.greatest.Band.of.all.time!!!
11:31 Pretty much how I reacted the first time I experienced Maiden. :D
When listening to this song you really should have the lyrics since it's a pretty harrowing story and they're telling it so well! This has been my favorite Maiden song since it came out so many years ago. God, i'm old :-D
Really,a masterpiece ✨pure gold 😉❣️
Great reaction!
Sepultura "Ratamahata" amazing Brazilian metal.
I have watched yor reaction of this song 60 times GOODTIMES
Great, great man!!!
Love Maiden brings you history not boring like at school but with great music Up the Irons
The true classical music of our age.
What do you say, fellow Irons, Powerslave, Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Flash of the Blade or the Duelists next? ;-)
Aces High or 2 Minutes to Midnight... Although the other three are damn good too!!
Your reaction is how I felt seeing the in the 80s and feel to this day.
Up the Irons,
Greatest Metal band of all time. UP THE IRONS
Everytime I see you falling off that chair I die 😂😂
Iron Maiden the book of souls live
Flight 666 is one the best performances by this band.....they are so damn legendary. Nobody is better, nobody. They have the best songs, the best album art, the best melodic riffs and solos, and they have fucking Bruce Dickinson.....
After Forever - Who I am Floor e Irene Jansen!!!!
Dude glad you discovered maiden check out Eldorado in vivo live by the way the floorse is strong with me as well I'm total nightmarish freak
you should react to afraid to shoot strangers and fear of the dark live rock in rio, dance of death, the number of the beast, run to the hills
Please do Amorphis "Amongst Stars" or "The Bee". I love your reactions man!
You need to do the Talisman live and also dance of death live in on the 666 tour..
This song came out when I was 6 years old and it still sounds just as incredible now, performed by a band that are in their 60s.
The creaking of the ship. And story. Omg.
