Jonathan performs the songs with full presence and emotion as though hes singing the songs for the first time. You can really feel what hes going through. Best show I've been to recently. When I was seven I remember hearing the self titled album in its entirety as a kid I was afraid of my own emotions hearing Jonathan davis a grown ass man pour his heart out taught me not be afraid of my own emotions they been my favorite band ever since thank you for this video !
It’s awesome that Jonathan Davis is an advocate for people with mental illness! That’s amazing and heartbreaking his wife passed and he is taking her tragedy and making it a reality for people to see that mental illness is a sad and heartbreaking thing! I have mental illness and my family is unfortunately victim to it also! I love that celebrities are making this a reality that is really hard to deal with and it’s amazing I love Johnathan Davis for that!!
He became a celebrity because of it. Korn's always been about mental health and helping people through things. That's what all of us fans love them for and made them famous for. How they stuck with it and even to this day make their music with the same goals and honesty is singularly easily the largest impact anything has had on my life. I'm still alive because of them. Love them to death!
This is such an amazing video. I'm a Korn head but there were some things I learned today. I had a great home life, but away from home I was bullied a lot, made fun of because I stuttered a lot, socially awkward and awkward around girls. It was Korn which was the first rock band I listened to that took that anger away and made me feel like I was apart of them. I was 11 when I first heard them, I'm 33 now and I never stopped listening to them.
I'm 16 and I have Autism I've been bullied in school and I still get bullied in school I've turned to Rock and Metal to save me from suicide God bless you Metallica and Koяn for saving me from going down an even darker path doing drugs and drinking alcohol and I also think the Lord
The first time I heard korn I was 7. My dad was a death metal and metal fan, and he had an amazing system in his car. He went into a gas station and I blasted "here to stay" 2 times straight. Ever since I've been obsessed with their amazing capabilities and risks they took. Bass guitarist is nothing I've ever heard before
I was a very resourceful junkie. I would find ways to get crack no one would ever believe. The couch definitely paid off a few times. I’m clean about a year now. I had to hang it up. 25 years was enough.
15:51 that feeling when you get rid of addiction (either from substances or from another human being) can be compared to a Spiritual Awakening. Thanks for sharing this, it really inspired me. Many blessings for all those who are struggling with mental illness, anxiety, substance dependency or other disorders.
This is the main and important reason why I love so much Korn - their music and what they went through helps so many people who also need help, support . They are the main reason why I struggle with my problems. I have a tattoo on my arm "Always keep fighting " . I did at that moment when Brian returned to the band! This phrase is Korn for me!
Two of the members of KORN, grew up in our neighborhood, and were really smart and loved by all of us, and even though we are now in the Seattle area, I really am happy that the Holy Spirit has always been with All of them. Great Band.
I love ones about Korn or Limp Bizkit because they are bands that no one talks about no more, when in fact, they should be talked about alot because they were HUGE in the 90s, just ike Nirvana. Sadly not many people know or remember them.
Followthepath not where I’m from. People talk about Korn and Nirvana all the time up here in Chicago. I am a moderate fan of all three of them. I was never die hard any which way but I liked a few songs from each of them.
The Rageaholic has a series called Metal Mythos where he goes through a bands history and albums. They're usually at least like a half an hour long. Check him out, see if he's covered anyone you're interested in.
@USA POWER HONOR DOMINATION - I totally disagree with your statement that Suicidal Tendencies were underrated. Instead, I think that they were totally overrated. They were (are..if you count today) absolutely awful. Mike Muir couldn't sing... they were absolutely awful.
This is not a "Tragic History"" this is a story of triumph! They have my respect, just keep it up and keep the dream alive for people like us! Make the story positive and not "tragic"
I was obsessed with KoRn back in the day. I had a shirt for every day of the month plus the chain wallet, ring, and necklace. Their music was my life back then. Those were the good old days!!! And always remember, the high cost of living aint nothing like the cost of living high!
Out of all the bands I loved growing up, to this day at age 33, hearing my mom mention Korn is just priceless: "Korn's on tv!" I was so in love with Brian back in the day.
Korn is a excellent band, I have been listening to their music since they first came out.. I just went to the 2019 concert last month and even though the lead singer Jonathan Davis is getting older he still rocks like he's 20 and to no disappointment he came out in his kilt and killed it..... Rock on guys...
Oh my god, I remember always getting in trouble for bugging my dad when I was a kid to put on “daddy” because I thought it was for him and he would always said no! I didn’t even think about it again till now.
Subbed today after watching the slipknot history yall put together, Then this amazing piece gets uploaded shortly after. Instant gratification at its finest.
i love how timeless this band is. my dad used to listen to korn in the late 90s when he was a teen, then when i was little i would hear them on the radio, and now im 13 and they're my favorite band. korn will probably stick with me till im older too. idk i just think its kinda neat.
TY for sharing Korn's story, they are such a dominant band with huge success, despite the challenges they've endured, so much love for these amazing musicians, been a big fan for many years...God Bless you Korn, you deserve only the best in life after giving so much to the world...
Aaron Tillery hell yeah, I used to think Munky looked like Johnny Depp but as the yrs have passed I see a resemblance between Ray Luzier and JD. 🤣 🤣 at times I see it in Fields and Head
Korn is and always will be badass. This was the music of my youth. The 90s and early 2000s had the best music. At 38 I still consider myself a Korn Kid
I listened to "Daddy" once, almost a year ago. I haven't been able to since. I'd listened to a few Korn songs, but didn't really know much about the band members' personal lives. Listening to that song scared me, honestly. A very disturbing song, and a sad story 😔
I’m so proud of them all for getting their act together and fighting their demons. It’s so hard to do. I saw these guys in 2006 during their Family Values Tour and I didn’t know about any of this tragedy back then… they were amazing musicians and I don’t know how they dealt with all this crap while making phenomenal music. True tortured artists… stay strong gentlemen ♥️
Interesting piece of info, but would be a million times better if there was some actual music from band in background and maybe some actual clips of the band talking instead of just read outs.... that being said, great video
The music from this band helped me work through my own personal trauma and abuse as a youngster. Knowing that I wasn't alone no matter how lonely I felt, gave me strength to keep living and overcome the obstacles that my mind created. Korn and Linkin Park both helped me to fight through the anger, misery and self loathing that comes form being abused and being called a liar when you reach out for help. Its massive and destructive how kids seek for help from the people who say that's what they are there for, only for them to beat you down more and hand you over to the abuse again. I'm grateful they are still making music.
My dad actually went to school with Wayne. Wayne was a couple grades below my dad. They went to Shelby high school together in Michigan. My dad has a class picture with Wayne in it. Its pretty cool.
I got the chills watching this video. I grew up listening to these guys and their music was amazing. Korn, Life is Peachy and Follow the Leader... I grew up with those.
Dual 7 string down-tuned guitars (playing as one guitarist) with 5 string down-tuned slap bass over unorthodox groovy drum beats...then JD's gifted voice...can never ever be recreated by any other band ;) always hated the "nu metal" label and everyone of those horrible bands that appeared right after they broke through, Except deftones of course...ha!
Fun fact: Todd Mcfarlane, creator of the 90's top selling comic book Spawn, was the illustrator for Follow The Leader's album artwork. His signature full color art style can be spotted from a mile away if you know what to look for.
The thing for me with Fieldy and Head, is that I still genuinely don't feel a connection with any sort of organized religion, but their experiences of redemption and finding Christ/God/whatever it is for them (I don't mean this disrespectfully, I genuinely grew up non-religious and just am not familiar with how Christianity works) still give me chills. I may not get it, but they do, and their experiences in life are as real as mine. Truly inspirational stuff, even for a non-believer. Perhaps *especially* for a non-believer.
If you read Head's autobiography, Save Me From Myself, he talks about having sex with women who want to be choked and abused, and how wrong it felt...i can identify with that...its just something you go along with to get what you want, which may be much of life, doesn't make it right...quite honestly i'm ashamed of it, but i agree i was raised religious and taught that goodness is manifest in the human heart...we all know whats right and wrong, whether we read a book or not
The fact that they have for the most part remained together for almost 30 years is astounding. I saw them in Vegas for FTL20 and it’s amazing how they have matured their sound on every single album. Each album has its own guitar theme. ie Untouchables takes advantage of the big muff fuzz sound while issues incorporates the slides and alarm sounding tones from Head and Munky notably on Beg for Me, Make Me Bad, and Falling Away for Me.
Found my way out a long time ago. Been a rock ,blues/rock player for many years. In the 60's/70's. played all over. Most of my band mates are dead now. Still don't regret my decision.
Putting this out here in hopes no one knows me. I was assaulted by my dad when i was 8/9 , and am now 16 soon. I’ve recently gotten more interested in korn and did a deep dive on them and all their music for fun, genuinely so suprised when i found daddy. I listened to the whole song along with the lyrics and it made me think a lot of what happened to me and made me break down, i’ve barely told anyone but wow. I relate to the pain in the song so much. Now korn is one of the main things getting me through life and i’m genuinely so thankful i gave their music a chance again
So was disco....Actually, disco was WAY bigger...Tastes change, and today's pre-20 yrs olds mostly don't care for music played by musicians...They prefer computer generated, or so they are telling us.
@Alex & Rah I'm a fan of musicianship, especially exceptional musicianship. I guess I just don't have a lot of interest in computer-generated music. It just doesn't have the "soul" of yesteryear.
Korn will forever and always be on my ipods in my cd books. At age 10 i was experiencing all this rock. Kid rock Limp slip knot godsmack and tons more is what my mother listen to. Sure i enjoyed all them but KORN and TYPE O NEGATIVE really sat in my stereo., now korn made me part of their cds made me feel like they were speaking to me. At age 12 i won untouchables off a radio station, i had to have my mother get it for me. To this day i have that cd un opened i mowed lawns to get another one so i could put it up. When i start feeling iffy and down i always put on Korn Or type o. Tbh at age 28 with not one tattoo Korn may be put on my skin as a reminder of the tough times it really helped me through Followed by Type O. I really cant wait for this new album to come out i just know John is going to put everything he has into it.
This is so incredibly well done. Korn is one of those bands that was blowing up right as i was coming of age, so to speak. One of the best concerts i ever went to was during the summer of 2000. Papa Roach opened, and this was like, 4 months after "Last Resort" dropped. After PR came Powerman 5000, and then Korn (of course) headlined. Amazing show.. The self titled, Follow the Leader, and Issues CDs are still in my huge CD book...... you know, the MASSIVE book of CDs that everyone had! Kids today will never know.... lol
I went to the 'Pop Sucks' tour. Someplace around 2001. Trust Company opened, then Distributed and Korn wrapped it up. If I remember correctly, the tour broke up a few weeks later.
@@domidaze3311 That was my first concert too.. Long stories about it, but anyways. The other concerts I have been too was the ones radio stations put on and they would last all day. Some free and some paid for.
That part about the song Daddy, made me cry, I remember I couldn’t listen to it cuz hearing the pain in his voice & circumstances in my life. But. I never knew that the band themselves couldn’t play it.
I love these guys and saw them with Rob Zombie. Best show I've seen in a long while. Mad respect for Jonathan Davis. Watching these guys hold each other up is a lesson in humanity this world desperately needs
Really sweet kind guys! Met their manager and I was lucky enough to get to hang out with them for the next 13 years!really proud and happy for them! Can't believe it's been 20 yrs since I 1st met them but they were my favorite band and didn't disappoint!! I wish them all the best I truly love each & everyone of them Especially Johnathan!!!
Sometimes the nicest people are dealing with the most horrible demons. I’m glad they grew up and helped each other and are still making music together. Even if they give up music as a career later, I hope they all stay friends into old age.
J The hero of time I was saying I always remember that fits perfectly for Korn and my favorite bands too is, “The harder the struggle, the more glorious the triumph”

I'm an odd one. Never abused, raised in a good home upper/middle class. Korn is literally THE band to me. All else comes second. Total truth I play out their songs in my head every day even to this day. I somehow only end up making friends with people who were abused, my best friend included, and yet idk how but I relate to Korn on a ridiculous level. It's the raw authenticity of them, and I dwell in authenticity to such an extent that it bothers inauthentic people. How can I relate when I was never abuse? Ya got me. Love this band. Always related to their music even as a young kid growing up in a small town. My friends and I followed them through Arizona and western states back then. So much Monkey would recognize us and and hey its yall and say hi. After Head's books I decided to get help. My life was fally apart. From Phoenix to Big Spring TX Brian "Head" Welch was an inspiration and really did mean what he said. He didn't even know me but I took a shot in the dark and tried to contact him.
Stuttering gone now?
@@ghostwriter6231 Honestly it never went away, but speech therapy classes helped me a lot to control it, I stutter still but you really can't tell.
Thank you for sharing.
I'm 16 and I have Autism I've been bullied in school and I still get bullied in school I've turned to Rock and Metal to save me from suicide God bless you Metallica and Koяn for saving me from going down an even darker path doing drugs and drinking alcohol and I also think the Lord
So sorry that happened to you ❤️ hope you're doing better now
The first time I heard korn I was 7. My dad was a death metal and metal fan, and he had an amazing system in his car. He went into a gas station and I blasted "here to stay" 2 times straight. Ever since I've been obsessed with their amazing capabilities and risks they took. Bass guitarist is nothing I've ever heard before
his low point was digging through the couch for spare change... I have been doing that for a decade. Drugs are bad.
PrmFirestorm 086 everyone has their own rock bottom my friend. Stay strong
I was a very resourceful junkie. I would find ways to get crack no one would ever believe. The couch definitely paid off a few times. I’m clean about a year now. I had to hang it up. 25 years was enough.

Great Band.
I really like these documentary style videos

I was obsessed with KoRn back in the day. I had a shirt for every day of the month plus the chain wallet, ring, and necklace. Their music was my life back then. Those were the good old days!!!

Korn is a excellent band, I have been listening to their music since they first came out..

Jeremy Gilman Falling Away From Me is definitely one of my favorites!
