  • In 1988, at the age of just 18 years old, a young hip hop fan from the South East region of the United States decided he wanted to join the US Navy. He only spent a short time serving his country and decided to leave the Navy after just two years. Although he was born in Jacksonville, Florida, his family moved to Gastonia, North Carolina when he was just 1 and a half years old.
Frederick Allen Mayne III was born in 1970, but is now commonly known as Fred Durst. At the age of 12 years old he developed a taste for Hip Hop, Breakdancing and Rap whilst holding the dream of one day becoming a break dancer himself. His early years however would see him at a complete loss.
By the time he was in his was 23, he had already notched up a failed marriage, left the navy with no real career prospects and also had a baby daughter that he couldn’t support without a job. He was at least high-school educated.

The real issues of the Woodstock ‘99 festival have already been revealed. Much of the festival had the fans standing on hot concrete, they charged ridiculous prices for water and made it hard to get, and also did the same with food. I’m sure “Break stuff” might not of helped but the lack of food, water, and excessive heat had already taken the toll on the audience before Limp Bizkit came on. Red Hot Chili Peppers were the ones to first notice what was going on and address it. The producers of the festival should have been the ones blamed and held accountable. There’s a documentary on it.

Great guitar riffs, drum beats coupled with cool bass lines, and once you get past Fred Durst's douchebaggery, you can find some great lyric content there. I’m an old school metal head. I started listening to metal back before Priest sharpened the heavy metal sword. Around 1978. I was there when NWOBHM swept through and there to witness the birth of thrash/speed/death metal. I loved it all. When nu-metal hit the scene, I was open to it. But with Pantera reigning in the 90’s, nu-metal wasn’t my “go to” metal fix. But I did enjoy Korn, Static X and Limp Bizkit and Hed Pe (criminally underrated) . And even purchased their CD’s at times. I would gladly support any band that keeps heavy music alive. Today, at 56 yrs old, I still like any band that plays heavy music (metal core, death core, whatever ) Currently listening to Slaughter to Prevail, Lorna Shore, Wage War and some Emmure. And there’s thousands of other killer bands out there making contemporary metal. I don’t try to sub-categorize metal into a million different genres. If it hits you in the face like a nail spiked baseball bat, it’s metal. This old dude is just happy to see young kids keeping music heavy. When I see young bands headbanging likes it’s 1984, it gives me faith in humanity. Metal heads need to stick together. There’s no room for metal elitists when the chips are down. I’m just glad there’s a younger generation ready to answer the call. Go heavy or go home. Metal for life, FTW🤘🏻

The media hounded Fred so much back in the day. He was always kind to fans and respectful in interviews. People mistook the character he was in the band for his real person, he was blamed for what happened in Woodstock 99 and the accident in Big Day Out. Even his feuds in the music industry are justifiable, Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson made fun of him, Christina Aguilera was ungrateful with him, Britney denied her relationship with him and he was accused of being a liar, and her feud with Corey was to defend her friends from Korn in which Slipknot started the feud, not to mention that he didn't even make those comments publicly. The media and music industry tried to make him look like he was the worst, but anyone who is smart enough and knows the facts knows that this is not true.

I love the documentaries about bands on this channel and I was super excited awaiting for this one regarding the biggest Nü Metal band ever, but after watching it I feel kinda disappointed. I don't care what anyone says about Limp Bizkit, they're sick! I've always liked them and will always like them. I was super excited when they dropped Gold Cobra because I thought the boys were back in true LB form, but unfortunately they stopped. I personally thought Gold Cobra was an amazing album, easily the best thing they'd done since Chocolate Starfish. Maybe someday we'll get another true LB album, if so I'll definitely be hyped for it.

Never understood the hate for them.
They’ve been my favorite band since I was 15.
Sure Fred dust lyrics are cringy sometimes, they don’t take themselves seriously and enjoy what they do and they still have a huge following.

People pointing out about Fred's lyrics being cringy is pointing out the obvious. The band's intention has always been to write intentionally dumb and silly lyrics, Limp Bizkit is a dumb band and they have always admitted that.
