It is so funny that YOU can explain it in a way that I can totally understand what you are talking about when I could not follow along with my very own instructor. I plan on looking at all of your reviews, Thank you so very much. Victoria!!!
Hello, I am a student currently at Bryant & Stratton college. I am in my final class before graduation for medical billing and coding. Your videos are absolutely, HANDS DOWN better than anything I learn at school. So much better, broken down in plain English, has an amazing setup and is so well put together. I am about to take my practice CPC exam and need your videos more than anything in my life right now THANK YOU …THANK YOU for Sharing your hard-earned wisdom with strangers is outstanding!!
Omg 😍 girl you're a complete lifesaver!!!! Thank you so much, studying for CPC exam and was having a difficult time breaking down operative reports and key words. I'm so glad your channel popped up 🥰
Thank you for all your help! Your review series, as well as the E/M videos, helped so much with my CPC exam. I'm still a student with no real world coding experience and I got a 94!! 🙌
If I had watched this BEFORE I took the chapter 7 exams, etc I wouldn't have failed so miserably the first time and I would have gotten a better grade the second time. You truly are a blessing. Thank you SO MUCH. As soon as I'm a coder I'm going to buy all of your merch as a thank you!!
OMG you are my Queen of coding. Thank goodness you’ve maintained a common sense approach to your teaching ! God bless ya- I’ve spent 7 months with Bryant and Stratton in their coding program and learned more on this 45 min video❤️
Thank you so much for this video - it helps so much to have someone pinpoint what and how to look for those little nuances. Very informative and beautifully explained.
This is such a fantastic little series, Victoria! I finished my vocational schooling last week for medical coding, and have these next two weeks to prep for the CPC exam. It's a very informative and explanatory refresher! You do such a good job with examples and explaining guidelines/definitions. Also, you connect so well with your audience. It seems to be a difficult thing for a lot of content creators and online educators to do. You rock! Thank you! :-)
I am currently studying for my CPC exam coming up in a few weeks and these review videos are so helpful in reviewing everything before the big day. It saves me a lot of reading and notes reviewing and I love it. Thanks so much for all these review videos!
Thank you so much. I have shared this with my class mates. It help a lot when you have someone explaining it while showing you how to do it and what not to do. We are currently online for the last term before the exam. We took 2 classes over the summer about coding how to do it but it is all online with no live person video. This term is suppose to break down CPT and the order they go in plus the modifier. We are on chapter 7 and several of us were struggling. I showed them your video.
I struggled so badly with this chapter and was in tears and about to give up. I have asd and sometimes don't understand things and school is so fast paced that I can't seem to catch on. This was SO helpful! I took notes to add to my chapter notes to help summarize my novel that still makes no sense to me 😂 Thank you again for another super helpful video! 17 year biller here who never got my cpc back then, and following you over the past year gave ne the nudge to go for my cpc ❤
This is awesome 😃you explained this topic so well. Thank you👏🏽 The only thing I wish I could have seen was as you were showing yourself in the book (cpt), I wish I could have still been able to see the multiple choice options on the screen at the same time to reference back to. No biggie, I lovedddd this. Great job. You made it so easy to understand. So happy I found your channel.
This came out in the knick of time as I am currently working on this chapter in my AAPC book! Thank you so much. The information you provided will assist greatly in preparation for the CPC exam. Thanks!
Love your channel, just heading into my coding journey with my current job and your channel has been so helpful! You mentioned in one of your videos of a rolling suitcase for the course books, I work from home and onsite, so packing them around is a lot, can you share that here? Thank you!
I'm currently taking a CPT Coding class and your videos help so much. Do you offer any one on one tutoring or know of any good tutoring services. Our school has no tutors for anything medical coding and yes I could go to my instructor but I just prefer a tutor. But having someone sit go through it and break it down for me in more simpler terms would be a lifesaver. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks! 🥰
we do not go into class for these courses. It is all online. There are no video lecture from the teachers. Just slide and read the book. So your video is helping our class. I wish you could give more extensive lessons on each chapter. To the class, it is like being in a classroom with a teacher lecturing. Which we do not have. Our college just started this program.
The teacher which are 2 are doing their best. One teacher just decided to move down to our state and come in on Thursday. This is a first time. But my guess is, she going to be overwelmned with students asking to see her on Thursday. She does have a discussion up if we have any questions. Honestly, it does not help that much if you do not have a lecture to ask questions about or if you are stumbling across the book very confuse about the rules.
Your amazing!! Your videos have been such a huge help! I actually taking my CPT 2022 exam tomorrow and I'm wondering would you recommend this video for the CPT 2022 Exam? I think you might have made it for the 2021 exam. Would this video just confuse me and what I've already learned? Or are there not many differences between 2021 and 2022 CPT?
Hi. I have a doubt in the last question. The repairs are supposed to be coded in the order of CR, IR, SR. If that is correct, then why is the answer coded differently, 12032 (IR), 13121 (CR). Please correct me if I am wrong. And also wanted to say thank you for such amazing reviews.
hi genius professor . you are amazing at explaining things thank you. i'm graduated from medicine school overseas uncredited. how long it takes me to learn medical coding in USA and can i apply for the med coding license exam without i have to go through the school course or classes?
Hi, I got my diploma for medical coding in 2021 and Now am ready to take my CPC test. I'm wondering in your opinion has many codes changed in the last couple years? Do you suggest I purchase the CPT 2023 coding book and the ICD-10-CM 2023 book as well? Also, I would like some good study material ... I like your CPC Exam Review & Practice Exam you offer. In your opinion, do you think that will be enough to pass my cert? or should I also invest in whats offered on AAPC. I'm just wondering how much Ive truely missed over the last 2 years .... I am a grown woman as well, sorry I am on my daughters UA-cam I just noticed lol. Thank you so much for any advice you can give :)
In medical coding, the HCPCS book is utilized alongside the CPT and ICD-10 codes for a comprehensive approach to documenting healthcare services, diagnoses, and procedures. While CPT codes describe medical, surgical, and diagnostic services and ICD-10 codes categorize diseases and health conditions, HCPCS Level II codes are specifically employed for billing items and services not covered by CPT codes, such as durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and non-physician services. For the CPC exam there are 3 questions of the 100 that pertain to HCPCS.
You are still permitted to use the 2021 book but may be at a disadvantage due to code changes. The exam will be based on 2022 codes starting January 1. I would direct you to the guidance provided by the AAPC: www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx " What year's books should I use? Since the code sets for each coding book are updated every year, it’s essential for coders to have the current year’s books/manuals to ensure accurate performance. Reporting wrong codes can lead to denied claim submissions and substantial penalization. It’s clearly very important to get an education on the annual code set updates and to obtain new code books every year. All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets. Examinees using their second attempt in the next calendar year will not be permitted to take the previous year's exam. Note: Please make sure you are now using ICD-10 CM or ICD-10 PCS when needed."
I had a question about the third practice answer pertaining to the Integumentary. The answer you provide is 15100 and +15101. When reading the full description it says for infants or children. Although most of the code description seems to fit, I would be completely lost seeing the patient is 84 years old. Can you help me understand the logic? btw I love your videos....Thank you
Split-thickness autograft, trunk, arms, legs; first 100 sq cm or less, *OR* 1% of body area of infants and children (except 15050) The 1% body area only pertains to measurements for infants and children. For adults you go by square cm.
What an awesome tutorial, Thanks sister for all the time you invested in this training, but I have some questions to ask (1) CAN MODIFIERS BE ADDED TO ADD ON CODES? OR IS ONLY MODIFIER 51 THAT WE CAN'T ADD ON ADD-ON CODES? (2) IN THE LAST EXAMPLE ON INTERMEDIATE REPAIR, CODE 12031 SAYS (EXCLUDING HANDS AND FEET), WHY DO WILL CODE 12032 INSTEAD OF 12042. WAIT TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON MA
Modifier 51 never goes on an add-on code. We use 12032 because it's on the arm, which is an extremity. 12042 is for hands and feet. This was not on the hand.
The definition of 15100 states, "This excision and placement is for the first 100 cm2 or less OR one percent of the body area of an infant or child." So for adults we go be square cm, for peds it's the percentage. This is not a peds-only code.
is there a video for breaking down why the numbers are what they are? I mean is there a rhyme and reason that certain numbers are assigned? Or is it just someone decided certain letters go here and we’re suppose to memorize it?? All the letters and stuff are so overwhelming I’m just wanting to make sense of them.
There is a method to the madness yes, as illustrated by this graphic: blog.practo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Anatomy-of-an-ICD-10-code.png But there's no need to memorize codes. You'll always have access to the books, even for testing.
I'm getting stuck on coding lesion excisions. When looking for the correct size. How do I determine the size of the lesion removed, if it's not clearly stated in the "Procedure"?
I have to add I've been following your channel for the past few months. So happy I found you! You go over things so well. Keep it up! You're amaze balls 😘
I went to a billing and coding school graduated but as far as helping me with study material to take my my exam they did nothing I have been out a year and have not done anything with my degree I know I need lots of practice where can I go to practice coding CPT and ICD 10 without costing me an arm and leg which I don’t have.. hope to hear from you

All the best
I passed my cpc exam! Thank you so much I used all of your testing advice and also purchased your study guide!
You explain things so clearly. It's very helpful to have examples just like we'll see on the exam. This is great practice - thanks so much!

You can test for any AAPC exams since there's no prerequisites but I would highly recommend taking classes on medical coding.
@@ContempoCoding thank you for caring and advice .you are precious and amazing
Does the exam clarify if you're coding for the physician or the facility? Another way to quickly eliminate those 51 modifers.
Everything in the CPC is coding for providers. The exam is Certified Professional (ie, provider based) Coder.
@@ContempoCoding makes sense! :) I see the COC is certified outpatient. Learning all the different certifications.

Could i have a calculator on the coc exam?
Manual calculators are permitted for all AAPC exams, just no cell phones, apple watches, etc.
are we allowed scratch paper for cpc? if not how can i do the math?
Only if you take it in person. If you are online you will have access to a calculator and a notepad in the exam application to do math and type notes.
Will the CPC certify me to work in a doctors office or hospital?
Provider services coding so "doctors office," though that doesn't mean that is the location you'll be working per se.
Madam, please explain me evaluation management chapter
