Those legs are genius! The inlaid detail is a definite plus......might I say you work your butt off to turn this diamond in the rough into a sparkling gem! Hats off my man!
Leave the inlay as is. I had no idea what your vision was. What a surprise after all that white paint removal. The veneer you chose has a beautiful pattern. The legs you made are so graceful and elegant. I love the hardware too. All in all it's a fantastic transformation.
What a labor of love: taking a childhood piece and re-imagining it. So much craftsmanship went into this. My favorite part: when you painted the year in matching big numbers in the back!! Yes!!
That would have erased it's history. Maybe there's a way to put the history of the piece somewhere inside of this chest for future reference to it's history.

So far I've watched all but 4 of the restorations. I've enjoyed each one. Each video has something special. I agree with @jodidavis6595. It's been a great way to spend Sunday afternoon and evening. Your work is superb! The cat and dog must be quality control! 😂 But what is wrong with the cat's forepaw. He/She is limping. I hope it's something that will get better soon! @@kimderrick7796 The cat is okay. He was attacked by something over 10 years ago when he was a kitten but other than a limp and being a pain in the butt sometimes, he is okay.
Love very much that you get to keep using your childhood dresser as an adult, and going by the how stuck the drawers were, using it at all for the first time in a very long while. Also glad you added to your signature, instead of removing the old one.
Hi. Thanks! This sat in storage for over 30 years in the heat and cold. I wasn't surprised to see the drawers swelled shut. Didn't take much to get them back in working order though so all is well!
Don't change a thing. It really demonstrates your talents in design and execution. I believe that is one of the nicest pieces of furniture I've seen in this contest, and I've watched almost all of them. I think I have one left.
I think that what makes me smile most, besides seeing alllll of my favorites in one place enjoying a little friendly competition... is the many MANY ways everyone weighs down their glue. My favorite things about this chest of drawers is the band at the bottom, the new legs, and the new pulls. That the band was a secret all this time is so intriguing. Keep it this way!
I laughed out loud when you were struggling to get the drawers out at the beginning. No one would have blamed you if you hauled the dresser out to the curb mid-Project but you persevered and it turned out wonderful. I think the dresser is perfect as is. Great transformation.
Wow! Definitely a labor of love. That dresser found great fortune when it found your mom & you. There are so many brilliant projects in this challenge. For your determination, perserverance, & redesign of a piece that most would have trashed or salvaged, I'd have to give you the blue ribbon. Its not my favorite piece, but your effort showcases the best of values in the current furniture rehab movement.
A couple of times I thought you’d lost your mind until I saw where you were going! Brilliant. Amazing transformation!! Such a gift to watch! I loved the trained going by and them coming back in the other direction! I also liked your reading a book while sanding forever! Talented craftsmanship!

WOW!! That was a mammoth amount of labour, effort and talent. I really enjoyed watching this, you are very good at telling a story without saying anything. This dresser got an insane makeover and the fact that it was from your childhood gave it a really nice personal touch. I love that you wrote the current year on it, perfect ending. Congratulations on such an awesome result.
Thanks Cole! I appreciate the great feedback. I debated about adding the current year on the back but I am glad I did it. I can't paint worth a crap so it looks like 12 year old me did that one too. Well Jay, you have to admit, if there was a prize to be awarded, this would definitely be the winner. The fact that he’s hung onto it all these years & the sheer amount of work it took to make it look better than it did when it was new is awe inspiring! I cried at the end 😢
What a terrific job you have done, I love watching everyone's working style in this challenge. This is such a beautiful dresser; the colour, choice of veneer, hardware, the legs and the straight sharp edges you created, really make it a special piece.
OMG! What a labor of love! That literally made me cry 😢 I lost my childhood bedroom set in my 20’s & it still makes me sad. That was a huge undertaking, but I can only imagine the pride you feel right now. Kudos to you for keeping it all these years & applying your skill set to bring to a more beautiful state than it was ever in! I’m in awe ❤❤❤
Thank you for the very kind words. I am happy to know that you were moved by it. This piece has been in storage for 30+ years and I've always meant to get it out and clean it up. This challenge gave me a great excuse to do so. I am grateful for that. I hope to see you in the next one. 🌸
Absolutely exquisite! Add me to the list of those who are heartily in favor of leaving the unique detailing "as is". There are a lot of restoration artists, as you know, and those in this challenge are among the best of the best. I've noticed that so many are also animal lovers, and I'm not at all surprised, because those who have the vision to see the potential beauty in what would, to other eyes, just appear to be hopeless wrecks, also have the gift of recognizing the beauty in animals. It's the little things that really reveal the individual personalities of those who take their craft to such a high level, and it's so rewarding to notice things such as t-shirts (big thumbs up, by the way, and thanks so much for being a St. Jude's volunteer!) that give clues about the person we're watching do this magic. All that remains now is to voice my concern for that little black and white kitty with the bum leg. 🐱And of course, a big thumbs-up for the finishing touch on the back! 👍 Terrific job all 'round.
Thank you very much for the well thought out message. I am so happy to know your feelings on this video. The kitty is fine. He has a very old injury that causes him to limp forever but there is no pain. He gets around just fine. Thanks for asking! 🐱
Dear Matt, you are probably sleeping while I write these 😁 First of all, I watched every moment with pleasure and smiling. Especially your struggle with the drawers was a lot of fun 😁 You did a lot of work and completed your project with a great transformation. A very elegant furniture emerged. The 1983-2024 touch was also very nice. In my opinion, you are the winner of the challenge, my friend, congratulations 👏👏🍺🍺

Man do you ever have strong hands! I sweated all through this incredible restoration. Even though I don’t have the tools, literally or physically, I learned a lot that I can apply to the small refinishing jobs I do for myself. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning transformation. The band at the bottom was a pleasant surprise - I recommend not changing a thing. Clean lines, love the simple but elegant legs, and nice choices for the hardware!
I love it just the way it is. It is beautiful. Having been born in the mid-century era, 1948, I am in love with the style. Those legs are perfection. The pulls are wonderful. The cat t-shirt was a bonus!
You are true carpenter in every sense. The way you enjoy your work, the way you work with bare hands and using hand tools, all depicts your love for the craft. It was such a beautiful restoration. You transformed it into a pure joy. And the highlight was Legs, omg it added the whole new dimension to the table, quite asthetically made. Also, your attention to detail to almost everything was spot on. Loved the sound of train in and howling in the background… Bravo!
Thank you so much for the very kind words! It makes me happy knowing that you enjoyed watching this project. Don't forget to check out all of the other creators in the challenge. Everybody did a great job. Cheers 🍻
This video makes me smile and feel nostalgic for you. The dresser turned out beautifully... no doubt about that. When you painted 2024 on the back I almost cried! Thanks again for the excellent content!
What a transformation! Leave the band at the bottom but I suggest staining the light strip at the top and bottom the same cherry as the rest of the piece. The long horizontal drawer pulls work really well, and although I like the circular pulls at the top their shape only references the shape of the legs. I think a shorter version of the big pulls would work better. Even better yet would be ones that are square that echo the squares in the bottom band. Nonetheless, you've done a remarkably successful alteration of 60s dresser and brought it into the 21st Century.
Thank you for the well thought out feedback!! I actually considered shorter versions of the straight pulls but decided on adding some contrast. I am glad I did. Thanks!!
Two words: dogged determination !! Absolutely stunning final result !! I wouldnt change a thing. My hat is off to you 😊 Cheers from the Finger Lakes of NY 🍷 🍷

Wow, the bricks give it such a homey feel, lol! Watching and really enjoying the process you are going through with this piece. 99% of your work has been done with your mind and your hands. I am thoroughly impressed! I would leave the bottom just the way it is. You did a beautiful job with this dresser.
This is my first visit to your channel. I think you did an incredibly respectful restoration on your piece of furniture. I love that little detail at the bottom! A nod to its past image and a quirky stylish look that lifts its modern image. I also liked your MCM comic moments. Also a nod to the older comedy shows of pratfalls and slapstick humour 😊 I’ll be back for sure.

Flipping Drawers introduced me to this channel through this challenge..wow great piece
Thank you and welcome to the channel! I am so very glad that you are here now!!
Cheers 🍻
Very nice! The new legs look great.
Thanks 🤙🏾✌🏽
This video makes me smile and feel nostalgic for you.
The dresser turned out beautifully... no doubt about that.
When you painted 2024 on the back I almost cried!
Thanks again for the excellent content!
Thank you so much for the continued support!! See you in the next one! 🌷
@@Restorology See you then, buddy! 👍
Beautiful !! You should get First Place !!
I don't know about that but thanks for writing it!! 🌻
The new legs are gorgeous, the veneer is beautiful, and it's a good idea to save the original trim at the bottom front --a beautiful rebirth!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks!!
Magnificent! Your design is perfect… the color, style of handles and legs with your wise choice to keep the inlay. Perfect! 💕
Thank you very much! Glad you like it. 🤗
Absolutely beautiful..... I can't believe how gorgeous it turned out!!!❤😊
Thank you so much! It turned out much better than I thought it would. 🍀
Wow what a transformation! It looks incredible! I would leave the inlay, I think it is nice!
I do too. Thanks!!
Two words: dogged determination !! Absolutely stunning final result !! I wouldnt change a thing. My hat is off to you 😊
Cheers from the Finger Lakes of NY 🍷 🍷
Thank you very much to the Finger Lakes of NY! I am happy that you enjoyed watching this project. Stay tuned, I think another will be posted this weekend! 🌷
Wow, the bricks give it such a homey feel, lol! Watching and really enjoying the process you are going through with this piece. 99% of your work has been done with your mind and your hands. I am thoroughly impressed! I would leave the bottom just the way it is. You did a beautiful job with this dresser.
Thanks!! This has turned out to be one of my favorites so far!
Multitasking!!! Reading a book while scraping! Art pure Art 💕
The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude. Thank you! 🙏🏽✌🏽
Hi! Thank you very much and welcome to the channel. I am glad to know that you enjoyed this project. Stay tuned, I might have another coming out this weekend. See you then!! 🌻
To think that this treasure sat in our home all those years! Who knew? You certainly brought it to life! Great job!
Thanks mom. 🌷
wow wow wow wow wow
Thanks!!
Your design is stunning! The legs and the hardware make the piece. Besides your skill and craftsmanship, you have a real talent for design. Excellent job! 🌟
Thank you so much! This is the first time someone has suggested that I have a talent for design. Never thought about it. 🌸
I LOVE the legs!! Glad you used cherry. So nice!!
Thank you! 🤗
When you added the "2024" I freely admit I got a little emotional. Beautiful work. It may have been a child's dresser, but you brought it through time to be your companion again today.
I'm gonna go cry now
Thank you for the very kind words. I am grateful that this challenge gave me a chance to use this dresser once again. 🌷
The drawers in the dresser were certainly a tight fit. A very nice transformation and those legs are perfect.
Thank you! 😊
Omg, stunning beauty.
You had me cracking up in the beginning with the drawers😂.
😁
@@RestorologyI sent this to my husband I enjoyed it so much. He doesn’t watch this kind of video so I told him to watch the first minute and a half. He watch the whole video! Great job!
@@Greenacres1958 Yay! Maybe I should hire you as my PR person! So glad he liked it. Thanks for sharing and tell him I said hey!
@@Restorology he said hey back!
I just found you and oh what a remarkable find! I usually don't leave comments but you are truly exceptional! This dresser is a total makeover. There is nothing showing of the old - a total makeover! SO SO SO much work! Thank you - a joy to watch!
Thank you so much! Yes I was going for a total makeover which is not my usual content but fun to do for the mid-century modern challenge. It gave me a chance to reuse this old dresser. I probably would not have restored it otherwise. 🍀
That is incredible! Beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
