  • The triumph Rocket 3 R has the Largest displacement engine of any production motorcycle!
I had the bike thanks to Destination Triumph for a couple of days but the lock down cut things a little short but I feel I got a handle on the Rocket pretty soon.
Please note this was filmed on the 24th march the morning after the lockdown, The company needed their bike back before they shut up shop. At the time traveling for work was allowed, as it still is now if it is work and can not be done at home. This is my work and thus this was perfectly fine to do. However this is the last time I have ridden other than a couple of shop runs since. Lately I have had to deal with a few idiots who can't understand the concept that a channel like this works a week or two ahead of real time. Thankfully this is my last video filmed on a bike so I wont have to deal with that for a while.
Big thanks to Destination Triumph Solent.

I don't recommend drift at all anymore and I used to work with them. The last great camera they had was the ghost S. For me the new cameras are all just too narrow field of view or the specs are not up to scratch. 1080 60fps is a absolute min these days well and 5 years ago. I get lots of issues with the 4k still and others have quite a few problems with other models from what people are saying. Also the customer service can be pretty bad I know someone who had to do a PayPal claim to get their money back. I'm not saying don't buy one just know that you will have some problems likely and it isn't ideal that's why I say I can't recommend it even tho I use one.

    Do I need one? No
Do I want one? Hell, Yes!!!
I currently have a 2019 Speedmaster and a Sinnis Retro Star 125. I absolutely love the Rocket, sadly covid 19 stole my test ride, but when we come out the other side of this i fear the Trumpet Strumpet may be eclipsed as the best bike I've ever ridden. Maybe a mid life crisis, I dont care. Thanks for feeding my Rocket addiction, you and Reno stay safe and well. X

It is interesting that you stay in the lower gears while riding/cruising. I tend to get in to a higher gear as soon as I can. What is the reason that you dont shift up? The 3GT is only my 2nd motorcycle, so I still consider myself a new rider. My 1st bike was a 2013 Triumph Thunderbird Storm. Ive done a 5 hr ride already on my 3GT with no problem as far as comfort.

I must be the only person ever to use all six gears when i rode it.. No wonder the fuel economy goes down the drain when you only use 1;st to 3.rd gear :) I found it very nice to cruise at 90 km/h @2000 rpm in sixth.

13 min: issue are: small tank. could be 5 liter larger by that consumption. tft display is clear and perfectly informative, but i would prefer the same tft system in classic 2-gauge design (one with speed, one with revs and icons, etc. somewhere there) to correspond with the headlights and overall style. heat from exhaust i solved with self-adhesive heat-reflecting foils, which insulate the car body from the exhaust, it helped a lot.

As they say in American racing: "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins motorraces". It's what made the diesel LMP1's so successfull. Watch the drivers of the time talk about the power delivery... they get a mischievous twinkle in their eyes (I actually think it should be illegal for people to have that much fun, but that's another matter).
