I've just watched this again as I have developed a Rocket 3 lust. I am in a position to buy one, but I am in Thailand, and the roads are congested, although the far north isn't so bad. I'm only 65 km south of the Mekong. Sod being 15 years older than I used to be. Excellent, knowledgeable review. You actually put the bike through its paces, much like Lamb Chop Rides.
@jimmy Van rossen I traded my 2017 Rocket 3 Roadster for it after dealer let me test ride it by myself. Gave me a chance to see the difference between the two and I made my choice. I was going to send my 2017 R3R to Carpenter Racer to be unleashed but I was satisfied with the 2020 Rocket 3r. Love it
I've got the GT, and it is comfortable. I put a slightly bigger screen on and softened the rear suspension. It is very comfortable for long rides. I'm surprised how much it's an all round bike, that ticks the box of a daily rider. Then you have all that torque to bring a smile on your face. I am waiting on an aftermarket exhaust for a bit more aggressive noise. The factory exhaust leaves car drivers baffled as you simply punch away at no audible effort. Good review. Try to GT next time.
@@wetluv4 Hi Ian, can I ask how you softened the rear suspension, was that an aftermarket suspension? I'm interested in this bike but down want a hard ride. Is the GT softer suspension? Thank you.

All bikes get rust on bolts in winter if you don't wash salt off straightaway. I think the build quality is good. It's keyless I don't like. Something to possibly go wrong. @@timrodierides I have medication for that, I need this bike to get me from the "nothing wrong" to the "more seriously wrong" so that I can "have fun". Lol, but....
I go back and forth on the headlights. They are iconic. I wonder how it would look if I put a rectangular one in place of the stock headlights? Something like the Harley Fat Bob and the new Sportster S has on it. It would have to be the right size so it more or less fits the space and looks dimensioally corect for the bike. After I get mine (soon now) I will make a cardboard cut out with a color printed picture taped to it and put that up there to see what it would look like.
It's even crazier when you realize that the factory ECU throttle mapping is dumbed down a lot. And by a lot I mean 100% throttle only sends 60% of the throttle from the ECU. At a full twist, you're getting only slightly over half the power and around 4k RPMs you're only getting ~45% power at a full twist. Crazy, eh?
I could look, but I’m idle. Has it a slip diff on the shaft drive I found myself doing a speedway impersonation when I dropped two gear on a BMW k1300s which was not a good advertisement for shaft drives? I got rid for a zzr1400 when they came out in 2012. I have to say it was a great bike but I feel I’ve missed out on the Rocket 3 the true kings of the road, in my opinion.
Good review. The sad thing is, in a way it's the last blast of big ridiculous engines. Soon we'll all be forced to be tree hugging eco mentalists, wondering if we have the correct charging lead for some soulless electric bike. I'd love to have a Rocket, however money, space and access to my back garden with such a beast just isn't really feasible. Apart from those, I do think Triumph should add a reverse gear and make the fuel tank more like 22 litres. If I won the lottery, I'd have one. ( I have test ridden one, only 1 hour, I loved it )
No need to win the lottery my friend, I won mine with a £10 raffle ticket through Facebook and the company called Rev Comps. So so pleased with it. It’s awesome. 😎😎👍🏼👍🏼
I want this as my next motorcycle. The only thing that concerns me is that as far as I know, as of current, there is no option for crash protection (engine guards/sliders etc). I would be so sad to have a tip over in a parking lot or something and have the tank have a crater sized dent in it 😂. Hopefully someone comes out with something soon.
