** PLEASE NOTE THIS WAS FILMED BEFORE THE CURRENT OUTBREAK **
Watched video about this on another channel. Shouldn't need to justify yourself, anyone that watches your channel should know you're a responsible bloke. This could have been filmed months ago for all any of the whingers know...
Anyway, cracking looking bike, one of a kind. I imagine with some loud pipes it would be out of this world!
Will have to make do enjoying your videos until lock down is over and I can get my Ducati out!
I don't recall ever hearing those involuntary noises under acceleration, from you before. Fantastic bike and a great video as usual.
I've never quite felt acceleration like that on a bike before....!
@@TheMissendenFlyer To quote James May
"That's not like acceleration; that's like being a football when it's kicked!!"
Thank you TMF - all the very best to you and your family. Hope to catch you the roads of South Bucks when we get through this little delay to our spring/summer riding season.
Great review. I rode an R version at a Triumph demo day and was so impressed.👍🏻👊
Great review. I think Triumph have done a fantastic job with the Rocket 3. I'd love one!
Nicely done TMF and some welcome cheer. Thanks again, best wishes to you and the family, stay safe.
Cheers Colin - you too....
Final comment in your video made this a truly great watch! Loved it.
Great review and loved the noises the end!! That’s what this bike was built for.
Cheers Martyn...
Very nice, TMF! That thing really seems to fly! Cheers, Tim
Thanks for the video Mr Flyer! Hope this corona stuff doesn't take too long, I want to ride. Look at the beautiful sunshine!
Tell me about it - it's been the best weather week of the year so far!
Had a wee shot of the GT , that was lovely , really settled into that way easier than I had envisaged.🤓👌🏼👌🏼 Full review to follow all going well and next time I’m back in Glasgow triumph stay safe n well mate
Great review again and can't get enough of this superb desirable beast.
Thank you
I have always liked outrageous motorcycles and the Rocket 3R is a fun motorcycle. It looks great and the quality of build is outstanding. Keep the videos coming. Take care and good health. Can't wait to ride my Indian.
Fun on Sundays? Hell, this is my commuter lol.... Great Vid mate.
Lucky man!
Great video thanks! Did you try the R3r with and without the windshield, or did you have it on from the beginning. Does it offer any wind protection or does it just redirect wind onto the helmet and cause buffeting? Thanks.
Can't wait until the lockdown is over and I can ride my bike again!
You and me both!
You haven’t just been riding it anyway? 🤣
You can ride to the supermarket to get a backpack full of food. It's legit (get a receipt).
They reckon its permanent
@@christianjames9577 Sadly this bike went back to Triumph some weeks back...but similarly sadly I have a brand new Triumph Tiger 900 in the garage now that I can't ride!
Just picked up my TFC and it’s just one hell of a bike to ride and completely different to my old Rocket classic. Triumph has really set the bar high with this bike. Great review
Agreed and thank you...oh, and congratulations!
Glorious day, amazing Rocket 3. Cheers
I love your reviews ! You're right , the Rocket is a rolling sculpture !
A beast for sure, I also like it that so many different bikes exist. Just fyi, I did not get a notification in my subscription overview for this vid like I always and normally get for all vids. Bell is still checked so I will see with next vids. Stay healthy, all the best for you and your family.
How odd! ...and thanks - you too...
So glad you finally got some seat time. I was 95% ready to get an R1250RT and triumph releases this beauty...takes me back to my days on a Valkyrie if only there was room for more bikes 😂😂😂
Wasn't keen on it when it first appeared...However, having been to see one in the flesh it's starting to grow on me.
Great video!!!
Thank you.
"AC Cobra of the motorcycle world" yes definitely. Can't wait to try one.
I’ve got say it’s got a beautiful exhaust note, just rumbling along on what sounds like not much more than tick over
Loved the top reason... It Exists. Great video
Good video again TMF
hey TMF thanks for continued awesomeness ~ from a cruiser perspective how do you compare the Rocket III to the Speedmaster?
Completely different experience! The Speedmaster is a much more practical proposition I will say that...
Well done tmf loveing that review have seen this bike at excel bike show and it's a site to behold loveing 🤗🤗👌👌
It's a beast isn't it!
Great vid mate but I had no idea that your arms are so long from the front camera view lol 😂 stay safe mate and good health to you and your family in these sad times for many world 🌍 wide👍🇦🇺
Nice! Good to see the roads are dry today. I think hydro forming is the term you were looking for.
That was the term.....
I.m impressed with the items in Oxford's Catalog. I enjoyed when you passed the horse chariot. Cheers.
Yes me too - Oxford have sent me all sorts of kit over the years and I have to say, in the main, it is pretty good for the prices they charge.
I know that their heated grips are extremely good value for money compared to OEM prices.
Reminded me of the film “Airplane” . You lift the dark visor to reveal sunglasses like Loyd Bridges!
I am living in Belgium. I bought a Rocket 3 R, and have now 2000 km on the clock. What is your experience in: - trail braking, lean angle, corning with Corning abs etc
Next bike in the garage maybe??
Cracking looking bike, I was admiring one at Jack Lilley Ashford last week, the only thing I’m not keen on is the large profile of that front tyre but it’s obviously for a reason.
Excellent review as always 👌🏻
Thank you!
Don't see myself ever buying a cruiser.......but if I did would certainly consider the Triumph. Pretty cool looking bike. Thanks for the video.
Absolute beast..luv it...👍👍
Sure is!
The more you ride it the more you like it is good feedback thanks. But what I want to know is whether you think it is worth the heft price even though it doesn't come standard with heated grips? What kind of fuel economy are you seeing out of it for normal everyday riding? How do you feel about that particular TFT dash?
Stay tuned for my next video where I go through the negatives.....!
cool video !!
Thanks!
That's one hell of a bike, you should add that in your collection.
🤙Well played on that last bit...
As a purist, I was at first put off by the "modern" styling but that look has really grown on me. Unbelievable that it actually weighs less than my old Thunderbird Storm.
Yes a great bit of design and engineering I reckon - Triumph are good at this stuff!
Funny thing, back in the day we went to lengths to remove all the in-handlebar wiring! Because if you dropped it and the bars bent you would almost certainly pinch and cut the wires inside the bars causing a permanent short circuit.
I think this goes to the top of my lottery winner fantasy garage list.
Hi Mr Flyer ,hope you and family are healthy, feel rather guilty with all that’s happening but today the 22nd of April my good lady went and bought me a 2016 Triumph Speed Triple R 2 owners ,full service history and only 4200 miles in crystal white with the Arrow low boy exhaust and remap, ,I’m smiling like the Cheshire Cat.😀🇬🇧🏍❤️And all the things I say about her.😂
Keep the vlogs coming Mr Flyer your keeping us all sane. 😁
Congratulations on the new bike Jakey! I hope you get to ride it soon!
TheMissendenFlyer Thanks Mr Flyer all the best 😀🇬🇧🏍
Sorry, not really about the Rocket, but what camera/microphone do you use for the reviews? Thank you
Check out the deets in the description....
Great vid again, hoping you've got plenty of material in the can to help us pass the time. Re No4, it's Hydroforming. A very clever process and a first for motorbikes I think I read.
That's the one - I knew someone would know! ...and yes, loads more videos where this one came from, stay tuned!
Harley Davidson had a Hydroformed frame on the 2001 Vrod 😁
I thought all those bulbous 2 stroke exhausts of yesteryear were hydroformed.
Enjoyed that, did not like the bike before but went and had a look at this new one. Sat on it (same height etc as you, but a 29" inside leg) comfortable could reach everything feet flat which I like. Need to get a ride sorted
It's certainly different!
During UK lockdown you & other vloggers are helping keep the rest of us entertained & sane. Maybe you should be considered a key worker & allowed to ride?
But I do agree with you not risking an ‘off’ & putting extra load on health system. Some volunteer riders are delivering prescriptions so vulnerable people can ‘social distance’ from risky places like surgeries & pharmacies. Unfortunately others are still taking stupidly irresponsible advantage of empty roads which is bad PR for all of us.
Couldn't agree more....
For a few of your video clips I have noticed you drive passed the interesting historic open market building seen at 3:15 . With a little looking I see it is Old Amersham Market Hall on the high street . I am sure that building has seen many many stories (and quite a few live stock :) ).. I love that England had these open market buildings .. Glad you are enjoying the R3 .. In America when we speak of that kind of pull we say "It pulls like a freight train" ..It is called a Rocket for very good reasons.. Be carfull ;That kind of pull is very addictive ..Another word for it is unforgetable ..
3:15 Old Amersham Market Hall : This Grade II* listed building was built in 1682 bySir William Drake as a gift for the townsfolk and is decorated with his arms and the initials WD.
I never knew that!
Brilliant bike or what Andy? You were lucky to get your riding in ahead of the ban! Hope you and your family are keeping well and safe. Yours aye, Alan
Mr. Flyer, the term you could not think of about the exhaust manufacturing, is that they were Hydro Formed. Good review!
That’s the one!
i feel there's another addition coming to a garage near you !!!!
How about combining the MCN review with a live chat, we're not exactly busy at the moment!! Another great assessment, hope your young lady is on the mend!!
Thank you Mick - seems like she's improving...better day today (keeping fingers crossed for her twin sister and mum - I think I've already had it)....and yes - thinking about live stream, a few have asked for them back and I did enjoy doing them....
Top video
Always excellent thank you, like many of the other UA-camrs commenting here I felt like I got out there myself and had the air in my lungs, the wind in my face ! I hope you don't mind me saying but, the front mounted camera distorts the length of your arms slightly and you did look at times like a gibbon (referring to the arms only of course ;-) riding a Triumph Rocket 3 !! ;D
No worries Alex, I've been called far worse things!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Glad u didn't unsubscribe me 😏
Nice review & a wonderful piece of British engineering. A unique bike that's probably already a collectors item. You'll see these around in years to come when petrol engines are no more. I think the technique you were referring to is hydro-forming maybe if not already mentioned.
Yes that's the one!
Brilliant....👍 could there be an addition to,the garage??....
Great video and opinion as always, my friend !! I've been watching your Arctic Circle in Norway trip, and I did notice in this video that you looked much thinner. What did you do to lose over 40 lbs.?! I myself want to drop at least 30. As always, take care, God Bless, and be safe !!
I'm so glad you noticed! Basically I went on a very strict diet and upped my exercise - by strict diet I mean no alcohol, no processed foods, no cake/biscuits/sausages/curry (basically everything i like), no dairy, no white bread, etc and 30-60 minutes exercise a day. I lost the majority of weight in the first 6 months and keeping it off means maintaining that eating and exercise regime during the week -at weekends I just eat and drink what Iike as you have to have a life!! It is tough, but well worth it. I've never been fitter or slimmer than I am now, and feel great as a result....
Paid for my TFC over a month ago...but left it at the dealer because we still had snow here. Looks like it's going to be staying there for a bit longer now doesn't it. I'll just keep watching Rocket videos for now I suppose. Stay safe everyone.
Sorry to hear that - it'll be worth the wait!
Hope to goodness they do not go bust and your bike is collateral .
i miss my 2012 version :/ not a fan of the looks of this one, looks a little too plastic-y for my liking, but, i have yet to see one in the 'flesh'.
it does have way more torque though, and that was always my favourite thing about it!
can't help but smile when you ride it.
great vids, you may have convinced me to go test ride, and buy one
oh, btw fella, my dad lives down by the Firecrest pub on London Rd... nice to see some familiar sights of the surrounding area!
Nice one...!
Looking good, the bike’s quite nice too.
Cheeky ;0)
Not at all. The bike’s a beast and it suits you. Most enjoyable review that I’ve seen on this bike. Love your No.1 like “It Exists” and quite agree with your view “it’s a bit of art”. Congratulations on the weight loss, assuming it was intentional. Hoping you and yours stay well in these troubling times. Thoroughly enjoy your videos, thank you.
I want one!
I am surprised the handling didnt get a mention... Its really good... on smooth surfaces though.
3 stone! Respect!
Thank you!
Funny to hear you describe the Rocket III (of which I have an old 2005 version), should be like the AC Cobra of the 4 wheeled world. My friend has a Cobra, and I described that as being like a 4 wheeled motorbike. So I understand your analogy.
Glad we concur!
Hi Mr Missenden Flyer!
Just wanted to let you know that I’m watching ”Missenden modelers” on the TV, building model trains!
Really? What channel, when is it on??
TheMissendenFlyer This is the gang:-)
ua-cam.com/video/JPT3fZViNmw/v-deo.html
Now I know what I sound like when I mash the throttle on mine! The acceleration is bonkers.
Isn't it just - rather addictive though....
Cheers from British Columbia stay safe
Lost 3 stone?
Good effort! Perhaps a how-you-did-it video please? Be great to help motivate the larger gents such as myself... Let's just say the R3 2500 would be somewhat tamed by my heft!
It’s amazing how the performance on my CRF250L has improved....but I ski slower now!
Nice review Mr F...3 stone wow...you never looked like you had 3 stone to lose! BTW, the E-Pace isn't electric, that's the I-Pace (Jag nerd here).
Thanks James - slight exaggeration on my part - nearly 3 stone - I was a lardy 13 and a half stone and now I'm a nudge under 11 and feel so much better for it. What is it with "I" - surely "E" for the electric would have made more sense??
@@TheMissendenFlyerGood effort! I'm aiming to be 14 stone...just to get back into my summer riding gear! 16.5 now...I wintered well! Jag E-Pace...it's the SUV version of their XE Saloon. I'm with you though, E is more intuitive.
After that video Triumph should give you one. What's it like at road handling in the twisties & taking corners? it wasn't in the top 5.
Actually pretty good - stay tuned for more videos on this bike soon! (..and I wish!!..)
I like the exhaust but would prefer to see a 3 > 3 instead of 3 > 2 ... something about 3 discharges that adds to the novelty and uniqueness
There's a 3rd exhaust on the other side of the bike
Hws the engine heating??
Not at all noticeable....
My 1971 Honda CD175 had the wiring routed through the handlebar as most Hondas from that time did I believe. Complete pain in the ar$e if you wanted to change the bars tho'
Yes fair point!
I really want to ride one someday.
I'm sure someday you'll be able too.....great fun as you saw.
You should start doing the OOTD thinghy!!
Yes I think I will do just that! (I admit I had to google OOTD though).....
The exhaust is produced by a process named Hydroforming which bends metal without causing wrinkles or folds.
That's the one!
TheMissendenFlyer As a seasoned citizen myself, when I can’t recall something my excuse is I need more RAM. The computer has too much information loaded and it takes too long to retrieve the file I’m looking for :-)
I think it needs the Millyard hacksaw treatment to turn it into a 5 litre V6 ;-)
When are you getting one?
I wish! Small matter of having a "spare" £20K!!
Have you ever thought about approaching the BBC and doing a top gear type show but based on motorcycles and all the gear that is available for them. You could also go on amazing trips round the UK and the world for that matter. I would personally like to see something like this made using my licence fee.
stoeydude2000 His name is Henry Cole!
@@LoveLifeTriumph yes and thankfully not BBC
Harley have done the cables inside the handlebars thing for a while now. Had to laugh when you got caught behind the Pikeys - makes a change from white vans.
TMF buy one you know you want to 😂
Now we are in lock down any chance of going live again to lift us up please 👍
I've loads of new content to post first, but if this drags on too long then sure I might have a go, trouble is they got a bit repetitive and not many people watched 'em....but we'll see, I did enjoy doing the ol' live streams...
Great looking and performing bike, way to go Triumph!
how did you lose three stone?
Basically cut right down on my food intake (no junk food, no processed food, no sugary foods, no dairy, no red meat, no cheese, no alcohol in the week, basically none of the foods that I love like cakes, biscuits, crisps, sausages, chips, bacon, pies, etc) and increased my exercise - been doing around 45 minutes in the gym every weekday for around 2 years.......and bingo, easy peasy, I'm now 10.5 stone where as I was over thirteen!!!
Easy peasy- me hole! Well done. Its a lot of work. worth the results though. Keep it up!
Easy peasy - me hole! Well done, thats a lot of work and commitment. Worth the efforts. These guys run a health food cafe in our town and were my gurus on a similar journey to yours. Loads of great healthy recipes and insights!
ua-cam.com/users/happypeargreystones
Yeah I was of course joking Killian - you do need to be completely committed and focused, not easy at all - especially as I love food - I just liked the thought of being slim, fit and healthy more than I did the thought of eating another hobnob or slice of cake...it's a continual battle but as you say completely worth it. I've not been this weight or felt this fit since I was 20.....
I did the Happy Pear Happy Heart course-Nothing that ever had a mother or a face..no dairy, no processed white rice, bread or pasta. essentially you eat nothing with more than 10% oil. no nuts, avocadoes, any oils, everything made from scratch. Lost 15kg and dropped cholesterol by 25% in three months. Do check out their UA-cam recipes. Very inspiring!!! MIght worth giving them a visit when you are on your Irish Tour! hey are very receptive to doing a film with other UA-camrs..
Can't understand why the bike doesn't have heated grips or a quick shifter as standard, especially at 20k.
It's because some people don't need or want them, so don't want them added to the price of the bike. Those that do, can have it as an option...
Oh, I thought it was to increase Triumph's profit margins, just like their new Bajaj bikes and making most models in Thailand. Not an issue to me, but like HP sauce there not really 'British' anymore.
@@stevenkelby2169 u coudl go as far as saying I dont want ABS so why do I have to pay for it. Think what he means is at 20k really it should include everything as nearly all bikes these days esp performance bikes have a QS and many bikes now come with built in heated grips. It's the uk. Bloody freezing!
11:12 TMF makes the jump to light speed.
The e-Pace you were trying to pass is NOT electric. It is the I pace that is. Great vid though andy.
Well that make sense! Well done Jaguar!!
This bike is absolutely unnecessary, over the top show off. I need one! What a riot!
In fact they should name it: "TRIUMPH RIOT"
History has been made!..........You didn't mention once that you were only 5'8".
Really? Losing my touch - normally if i don't mention it I get about a dozen comments asking what height I am....
i feel handle bar a bit too wide.... also wish Rocket3R have blue color.
I haven't seen one in the flesh. On video the handlebars look really thin for such a big bike. I would of expected a beautiful big yoke like the Thruxton for example. With chrome bars too.
The bars look like they've been pinched from an electric scooter!
They look great "in the flesh" - especially with all those cables tucked away - such a shame they ruin the view with that noddy TFT!
i agree with your top 5 likes ....i think santa's gonna need a bigger sleigh and i'll need a bigger chimney...........
Has Mrs Flyer been on the back? It really does not look like it's made for a passenger
She point blank refused!
@@TheMissendenFlyer well there you have it. Hahaha
Brilliant bike, make the most of it as they will probably been banned soon :o(
2 things I hate about the Triumph Rocket 3.
(1) My bike shed isn't big enough
(2) I can't afford it.
I want one !
Great video in these shite times 👍🏻
Thank you....
I want the GT. It has heated grips.
You can have heated grips on the R for not much more $
@@stevenkelby2169 Yea but If I get one, it's going to be the GT anyway, for the 1-up seat built in and the better (for myself) foot peg positions.
I donk know about the looks. I really like the more orthodox look bikes have and the jewel of is the engine. But I always have issues with a bike that utilises what looks like a car engine. Something feels of with a bike like this looks wise.
Well I guess it's a bit of a marmite thing - the looks certainly work for me, completely over the top and I like that...
@@TheMissendenFlyer well when you are on top of it then the looks might not matter that much, perf and the feeling/character of the bike is more important then, but the dash on the bike is like a fish out of water. Okey if they had to go with a tft dash then fine, but why make is so plastic looking, the plastic circle in the middle is just horrible, why not have a virtual circle instead...
I agree 100% on the "dash" - hideous monstrosity on an otherwise beautiful bike...
