Donovan rides the Triumph Rocket 3 GT with the largest motor ever bolted to a mass-production motorcycle. And a motorcycle destined for intergalactic travel, he says.
From the US, going to get me one of these when we finally start getting back to normal. I've been lucky and have kept my job through this crisis. Been racking up a lot of overtime and not been able to go anywhere.
True story about Triumph, I never bash Triumph and I don't even know why, in fact I always say to anyone who rides a Triumph, good choice, I never meet anyone who didn't like their Triumph. Your observation made me laugh and wonder about it!
I just love the headlights it's like what will we do these things oh I know well put them here yea that's where they go I love the rocket and all Triumph bikes
I had one of the original Rocket III Touring models.....a righteous tourer that. I do hope the Triumph accessory catalog will have bits for the GT to improve it's long distance possibilities......and since Mat is stuck in France you'll have to get him to see if he can get out and see what's available there bike wise!
That's the plan, once everything starts opening up again. But I did film this test and grab the chance for a quick spin at the same time. Not something I would ever think of owning, but a lovely bike, nevertheless.
This bike is so sick! I test rode one yesterday (the R variant). I think that every motorcyclist should have a go on one of these. It's a unique experience. This the definition of TORQUE! I couldn't help but laughing inside my helmet.
Picked up my new Rocket GT last week and put 400 miles on it. The only fly in the ointment is that the list of devices that are compatible with the $900 bluetooth module is extremely limited. The only two Android phones are the S8 and S9, both of which have been discontinued by Samsung. My headset, the Sena SRL Neotec 11, is also not compatible. The dealer, Mosites in North Versailles, PA has refunded me both the price of the bluetooth component and the labor involved in installing it. Excellent Customer Service at Mosites. Triumph After Sales in Atlanta was very supportive and coordinated with the dealer. In addition, they are going to escalate the problem with Triumph UK. Be careful if you need the bluetooth! Otherwise, its the best bike that I have ever ridden!
very good nice video !! yes man, that bike is THE only one mega bike ! (yeah, I do NOT think about the Boss Hoss, that is not a bike any longer ..... lol) ... I had one, the new 2012 R3Roadster till 2015 and I had the best most fantastic times of my bikers life (I am 72 now and would like to have the new one !!) .... that bike is a nice monster, a brute one but so cool and zen because so balanced and reassuring !! just be the one in full control, do not think it is a toy !! this bike pushes you into the one only present moment, you no longer think about futur and past, just the NOW zen moment of real life !!!
I got rid of my Kawasaki GTR 1400 the dinosaur like you told us on your review of the bike, and bought a 2020 Triump Rocket 3 GT and boy do love it fast torquey a blast to ride ad a quickshifter on it to do mad acceleration when i need it and downshift on corner without the clucht is a gamr changer for me but dont give me wrong loved my Kawasaki Concours but my Rocket made me forgot her but its all for the best. Ride safe mates.
Jet Cooper R or GT? I am torn between the Super Duke GT & BMW X1000XR for my next bike actually, but can’t get the Rocket R (in red) out of my head. 🤤 Even got it as my Screensaver on the phone
Extremely powerful yet smooth, refined, and "gentlemanly". All attractive attributes among this bike's target market, no doubt. Plus, long term, this plays well for Triumph as they continue to compete against the other European manufacturers. Especially BMW. p.s. Have you considered Patreon? We imagine UA-cam ad revenue is weak to say the least. What's the best way we can give additional support to The Bike Show? Much love from Northern California. 👨👩👧 ❤ 📺The Bike Show

Awesome review guys from Canada. I am hoping they make a proper touring model with this model, as in proper hard bags and a front fairing. I so want this bike as a proper cruiser for long rides in Canada and the USA. I have a 2017 Triumph Trophy SE and I just love it to death. Yep its got its quirks but its been solid and i crank out 600 mile days on it at 55mpg, but i know eventually i will end up on a cruiser but i just despise Harley Davidson and was really hoping Triumph made a real touring version of this in a year or so!!!!
I prefer the R model with the pegs further back, but I wouldn't want one. Zipped panniers? I get Don's point, though. I remember testing the old Rocket lll Roadster in 2010 and then getting back on my Buell Ulysses and thinking it felt like a toy.
Gabby Hayes Well you see time is not static. And in 4 years? It's obvious for this year only. Plus sometimes they do used bikes, 2010, 2012? Just a recommendation.
From Mat: Harry was banished from our band of moto-brothers under a very, very dark cloud of his own making. We lost a friend and a colleague with whom we’d enjoyed working because, well, let’s just say he developed extremely sticky fingers and an aversion to the truth. I would like to say I wish him the best, but I don’t. I hope he gets abducted by aliens for intrusive sexual experimentation and returns to earth green, mouldy and pregnant.
This motorcycle is exactly my JUG of Tea...i'm gonna buy the GT and the Roadster both. And i'll use the Roadster to get around town everyday, and i'll use the GT for weekend 500 km rides from my house to a cafe in the mountains, to get a cup of Tea....👍👍👍😎

Twin headlights have been a thing for naked/semi-naked Triumph's since the T509-959 based Speed Triple in the late 1990's/early 2000's, it is one of their 'signatures' - I am sure you could remove and get a new/altered mount to have it single headlamped, if you must, or get some other LED head lighting system/design fitted instead. It's like asking Honda to reduce down their quality controls to that of Chinese manufacturing or Ford F150 quality from one of the least able Ford factories, or like Harley Davidson saying the V-Rod was actually good to thier ideologically riden/driven 'heritage' cultist fans.
I love em. I like the original street triple r with the googly eyes n the overall functional look, it looks like it wasn't designed, better than the insect like current one
Thank you for your wonderful video of a fantastic motorcycle.

Not scary but really quick.

haha, I still believe that if you'd punch a hole of the bottom of the tank it would still leak slower than to when you open up on that throttle.;))))
Make a proper bagger, fixed fairing and panniers (that don't leak, Triumph! ) based on this bike, please Triumph!

It needs a supercharger and a turbo that should make it evil

Yes. But it's extremely difficult! Heavy, long wheelbase and very composed.

Yes :D

Great looking bike, but sounds so bland. Needs a little rumble IMHO.
I also thought that sound were terrible before i tested this bike - the sound is huge !

The GT is more comfortable while the R is more badass. Our usual answer is ride both and see.
