I do appreciate your real world, no nonsense reviews. They get better as time passes by, and in this review it's nice to see you didn't (like many other reviewers) get carried away by this behemoth of a bike...
Love mine! Never breaks a sweat - effortless on power and effortless to ride..... A massive improvement over my last Rocket and smoother than my 1700 Vmax.
Took a GT out on Saturday and agree 100% with your review. Best bike I have ever ridden and so easy to ride. Placed my order and hoping to get mine early Feb. Roll on summer!
Hey Mark, Another great review, keep it up. I'm a new subscriber looking to get back into bikes after a 17 year break. (Last bike was a 1998 ZX6R). Not sure I'd start with this rocket but I'd love to have one as a summer cruiser
Have ordered the GT..due here in NZ late March...have got 2018 Rocket will keep it...these bikes are the most Exciting machine you can ever ride.....one never really understands what torque even means until you plant your ass on these machines..excellent review...cheers mate
Hey Mark. Great review, mate! I am intrigued by this bike for sure. You seemed to get on pretty well with it and got it off the stand and moving around with ease, so that pretty much suppresses the talk of it being "too much" bike from the physical end of it. I did enjoy your reactions while riding as well! It makes me want to set up a test with my dealer and see what it's all about. I currently ride a '17 Trophy SE and a '14 Victory Vision, bikes that I absolutely love. Can the Rocket replace one of them? I don't know, I kind of doubt it. But you never know. This is why we test! So thanks again making this piece. Oh, and I agree with others, it was nice to actually see you. One could say it was "nice to meet you"! Cheers.
Hi Mark. We spoke at the launch on Sat. Also 5'7" and confirm a doddle to ride. I took it through town and country and clutch is excellent. Agree with all your comments. Nice real world test.
A Triumph was my very first bike when I was a teen... a 500cc bike built out of 3 wrecked TT racers. t cost me all of $250.00 and was a sheer joy to ride back then. Looking that this behemoth...a Triumph is likely to be my "last" bike.
Great review a man that understands the way this bike is meant to be ridden. I think it's ridiculous when people jump on and are pegging the tach alot.
Hi Mark, Nice review, I've been contemplating one of these for 18mths now. I've had the previous gen rockets 4 infact..but now time to get one of these. I have gone for the gt and l get it at the end of November wrong time to get it you may say but at least l can look at it till summer! Lol Cheers Mark.
Not a fan of the cruiser style bike in general but this is something else. Looked round one at the NEC and the built quality is amazing. Probably never own due to the price but it's one added to the list of bikes I cant afford 😀. Good review.
@jimmy Van rossen You have good taste hahah. I think black is the best colour for the bike. I'm loving it. Really refined and totally effortless, the quality of design and manufacter only really becomes evident when you have it after a while. Enjoy your new bike, you'll love it
Nice review Mark as usual. How can such a large and heavy motorcycle not have a main stand is beyond me, plus once again like most motorcycles today a very poor effort for a pillion seat as though no one is supposed to ride two up anymore just merely an afterthought I think.
I have been contemplating a Harley Fat Boy 114. Rode one not long ago and found it to be not the best on twisty roads. It has to be coached with effort into turns. But after reading and watching videos (such as yours) on the Triumph Rocket R I definitley have to find a Dealer where I can test ride one to compare. I kinda of like the over all looks of the Fat Boy over the Rocket. And I have a feeling the Fat Boy will hold its value better or not. The main negative in looks in regard to the Rocket, IMO, is the rear end of the Bike. I currently own a 2015 Harley Super Low 1200T and a 2016 Motto Guzzi V7 II Stone.
That looks nice I have shared the video to my father inlaw would love him to get one 20k is a bit though be nice to have it for bike for life great event that is for the air abundance
Mark, Thanks for making your review. Although it's a bike I wouldn't buy, I none the less enjoyed your review very much, so much so, I didn't want it to end! I must have subscribed to you after you made this video, Mark. Back in 2010, I test rode a Mk1 Roadster in Essex and wanted to buy it, but I was moving to Portugal, so I put it on hold. I like the Mk 2 R even better. I found the original bike very manageable, despite it being 40 kg heavier than this. I would dearly love to buy an R.
