  • THIS IS NOT A HOW TO
    The reason I installed an aftermarket valve cover along with a catch can is because I was having issues with my stock valve cover and the pcv diaphragm.. I usually prefer to purchase anything automotive during black friday because the deals are crazy and you can get a lot for the money... Wanted everything to look clean and uniform so went with my hardware for the catch can from JEGS... Such high quality stuff and quite a breeze putting everything together... If y'all have any questions regarding anything, just let me know!!! I've listed all of the parts down below...

    Nice, cool to see people thinking with this engine. It's a good powerplant! I've owned my rabbit for close to 8 years or so. Quite a few mods. It's interesting, I didn't know the later models came with power steering. One little note:. Any rubber gasket, oring needs a little lube to keep it plump. Otherwise it will dry out, crack and fail. Cool video and damn that VC looks so clean. ✌️

    Just an FYI, with AN fittings, you'll vocalize the "-" as "dash." So you're using "dash ten", not "negative ten."

      That was happening to be me as well. So, I used a flared union tee to route some of the oil vapor coming from the valve cover to the block breather on the oil filter housing then the other side of the union tee went to the catch can, then from the can, to the CAI. If that makes any sense. lol!

    Ya see that tube coming from yer throttle body? You could've tapped into that (using a T). Yer brake booster can tap right into that throttle body hose. This will provide the vacuum. I did it when I deleted my vacuum pump.

      @@caseygawriluk I must clarify too. My car is a 2009 2.5 VW Rabbit. It's a different set up regarding the pcv valve outlet and the intake. The system you have is sweet...no doubt. when you remove the oil cap on this a 2.0 fsi or this motor it get check engine lights on did you have a problem with the vented catch at all .. because there kits that are made for the billet valve cover and send hose to the turbo inlet side . I'm doing a golf r biuld and with the new turbo and valve cover the catch can i have is sealed and used to go two hose in to the valve cover in front with the two catch can hose and one to the crankcase breather so do you think it should be fine with just in the top port trough that catch can and thin in to the crackcase port above the oil filter .

  • @lokki52808

    So what's the benefit of doing this? Did the ECU get retuned to accommodate for the new valve cover? Was this put on to look better or for performance boost? Just got myself an 09 jetta 2.5 manual and want to make it a project car.

    • @sethdrak3
      @sethdrak3 3 роки тому

      You don't really need a tune at all for a new valve cover.... It's literally replacing plastic with metal, looks way better and lasts a lot longer. A major performance aspect of it is that it's deleting the factory pcv system that tends to fails from time to time and allowing you to use a catch can or however you choose to run this. Basically leaves you an AN fitting in the cover in place of the factory pcv system.

      @@nathanelliott6770 lmfao it’s just a cover man, the catch can is only there to prevent issues that the stock system has. The cover just makes it easier to instal the catch can. Nothing at all performance wise, just keeps the car in better shape since the oem pcv is a flawed design.

      Andrii Sokolen I was having same issues with oil coming from valve cover as well as pcv diaphragm issues.. replaced the PCV membrane like you as well and no fix.. did all this and have had no issues whatsoever. I removed the top portion of washer reservoir and just capped it off down below(still able to use washer reservoir) by doing this. The catch can came with a bracket from integrated engineering

    • @kmax7163
      @kmax7163 5 років тому +2

      @@andreysokolen95 I bought a catch can and mounted it near the drivers side headlight. There's plastic trim there and 3 hex screws. I bought a black painted 3 inch steel L bracket. The L bracket was $1.79 at the hardware store down the road. Took out 2 of those hex screws , slid the L bracket under the plastic trim (near driver side headlight). Tightened it down, mounted catch can on other end of L that's facing downward; next to battery.
      I'm gonna use my stock hose at pcv and intake. They are big diameter. My catch can comes with 25mm fittings; theyre big for more ventaltion of the crank case. My stock hose already has the stock clamps anyway. I don't wanna reduce any inside diameters on hoses. So, what I'll do tomorrow is to tap into the stock pcv line. I'll remove a length of the stock hose, and with fittings run the 2 add-on length of hoses over to my catch can. In addition, I won't be giving big bucks to big corporations for their schmancy fancy products. Mine will work just fine. You won't have to run a hose all the way over in front of your engine too. Everything is already hooked up stock. Just section out a piece of the existing pcv hose.
