They used to throw away whey as a waste product ffs!
Most of the cost is dumb marketing and packaging these days!
I do agree that there's a lot of cost that goes into marketing.
Such an interesting topic. Please review the product Whey Protein Blend by Elevation also found as by Millville brand. These are sold in ALDI in the US, I suppose it's one of their own brands. The point is it’s really cheap at $0.87 p/serving when bough at the store, and the protein content is ~68% per serving. Not bad IMO.
I did a bit of Googling on Elevation and it doesn't look that high quality to be honest. A ton of extra ingredients, low protein percentage, added sugar, etc.
watching this from Egypt where our currency fell 40% this year and 50% two year ago. 20% increase is just rookie numbers LOL
Lol, rookie indeed.
eating too much gives me heart burn. Protein powder makes sure my stomach doesn't get too full, while making my 100 - 140 grams a day goal.
How much protein powder do you eat per day as a percentage of your overall protein intake? Just curious.
@@feast_good usually a just a couple shakes ( 20 grams of protein each ) on a day I work out and just one on a day If don't.
@@martinpalm5 Cool, that makes sense. I generally tell people they shouldn't consume more than 1/3 of their daily protein intake from shakes, which it sounds like you're under for sure.
Pls look at muscleblaze raw unflavored whey also. It doesn't hv any wrong ingredients.
Muscle Blaze isn't available in North America
I just bought it at 29:99 now 🤷
Where!? Also, what size? Was it a 2lb tub?
And they are giving less grams per serving smh
Which brands are doing that? I'll look into it.
Greed of companies
I think it's a bit more complicated than that.
Nothing more unnatural than "natural flavours". I don't see the problem with sugar alcohols, especially when compared to this undisclosed garbage.
That being said, I prefer my protein with 2 ingredients only - protein isolate and lecithin, I add my sugar alcohols and cocoa separately.
So do you take unflavored protein?
@@feast_good Always, but only because I add the erythritol myself :)
@@nnuae Nice. What's your go-to unflavored brand? I try to avoid erythritol, but that's a personal choice. Each to their own.
@@feast_good Where I live there's only NOW foods available. Ideally I'd prefer something like the grass-fed product you showed in this video, but it's not available in the Middle East.
@@nnuae cool, I was just curious.
Saying the price went up due to fitness increasing in popularity is so disingenuous. Fitness only got popular in 2021-22? The prices of things are going up thanks to democrat policy, period.
I'm not doubting that government policies have a role in widescale inflation, but I'm also not going to turn this into a political video. Fitness trends are increasing, and so are high protein diets, so yes, I said that was one of the reasons especially compared with decreased supply. But I also mention SEVERAL others. That was just one factor. I also go into a lot more detail on each of the reasons within the blog article: feastgood.com/why-is-protein-powder-so-expensive/
Ah yes, good old democratic policy affecting protein powder prices world wide... *face palm*. Most American comment.
And yes, during the pandemic a lot of people turned to fitness Instagram and Tiktok, and got duped into thinking they need protein, creatine etc. Creatine prices also jumped significantly during this time. Yes more people got into fitness after covid and also more people were exposed to marketing from these companies. Nothing to do with a Governments policy in a single country...
@@alech6307 I didn't mention right vs left politics in the video
@feast_good I was replying to the op comment sorry
