I love your dress. You provide excellent information. I am 70 years old and help my grandaugters with their 4-h projects. I learn many thints from you. I helped my 6 granddaughters this year. The projects were 1 dress, 2 jumpsuits, 1 pants and top, 1 romper, 1 pants and jacket. Glad to be finished this year. They did well. I love watching your videos. I learn a lot.
How lovely to spend time sewing with family! A dream! They are lucky to have you.
What can i say, wow wow wow !
He he thanks!
Fantastic video! Both of you ladies look amazing! Thank you going in to detail! I learn something every time I watch you! 😀
Thank you so much 😊
Really beautiful. Your patience and hard work paid off!
Sure did! But I need a break now 😄
Karina, thank you for going into such depth regarding your construction methods. This is such a good teaching video, you explained your thought processes so well and this vlog is full of fabulous tips (e.g. use of vertical pins to mark pivot points - a simple and brilliant idea!). The end product, looks to me that it was worth the effort.
I’m glad I didn’t bore you to sleep 💤. It wasn’t a simple make and I tried to simplify as much possible. Thanks for watching 😊.
Your dress is stunning and those shoes are fabulous. All your hard work paid off, I love the way you take the time to use a pattern but in your own style......you are an inspiration. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I know it isn't a speedy process with all the filming and editing but I for one really appreciate it, I am learning sew much from you 😍👍 xx
Thank you so much for your reassurance. This was a special video with a length that is an exception and i was worried about negative comments 😬. So far, only one person has done what I feared. Oh well. Knowing you see the value makes me so happy.
I loved to see the collaboration between you two lovely ladies. I hope you will continue this collaboration and try other patterns as well. It was very informative and inspirational. Thank you both for taking the time to make these videos.
I’m glad you enjoyed our videos. It was truly motivating for us to take on this project together for mutual support. Thanks for watching 😊.
Karina, Oh my goodness I love your UNIQUE WAYS of sewing your projects! I see that the decisions you make for your design are challenging, they take time to plan out & complete. In the end you have a work of art! I am so impressed with all choices you made for stripe direction on the bodice, waistband & matching up at the button/center front & at the seams. Wonderful work!!!! I have been watching Natieda for a long while now. I am so happy to see you collaborated with her!! Take care & God Bless.
This was too fun as we cheered each other on! I do make it harder but never regret it for the results obtained. Thanks for watching 😊.
Very nice! It looks great on you. You reminded me to look at my print before cutting. I learned a lot from the lining you demonstrated. Thanks.
In glad the lining tips helped. Thanks for watching 😊.
That dress is a masterpiece! I am inspired to attempt a challenge of that magnitude now!
You can do it!
I really enjoy watching your videos, and the methods you use to really get a good fit. Love this one!
Thank you so much 😊
Well done Karina! Beautiful!!
Thank you so much
You really challenged yourself and did a beautiful job. I'm sure you have a real since of accomplishment, well done.
I feel amazing to have it! Thanks for watching 😊.
Very nice dress Karina! I like the extra details you worked so hard to get into this dress! Matching patterns and stripes, etc., is always more difficult but so rewarding when you get it right!
It slowly turned into more work than I anticipated 🤷🏻♀️. I do that to myself sometimes lol. Thank you so much for watching.
Lifting Pins and Needles. Me too!
Beautiful dress! You are so clever with your fabrics ❤️
Thank you so much 😊
Karina you rocked that dress girl 😮Loved your shoes also😃
Thank you so much 😊. Those shoes didn’t go with anything until now!
Whew! A lot of work, but I love the finished garment-you never disappoint with your makes. By the way, perfect shoes for the dress. Thank you for sharing.
Funny fact. These shoes had nothing to be worn with! Now they do!
Absolutely LOVE it Karina! So happy you filmed lining the bodice, because I do want to do that next time, it came out BEAUTIFUL!!. I give you MAJOR kudos for matching the stripes, you did an awesome job, it's perfect Quitygal sent you that fabric, it matched PERFECTLY. Now, I understand why you interfaced the bodice, I'll have to remember that when I make the top again out of a Challis or Rayon. LOVE the final fit!! Those shoes are so cute. Thanks again for doing the collab, it was FUN!
I hope it’s not our last Holyoke he he. Need a holiday after this one. Thanks so much for all your support 🤗
Beautiful. Excellent effort. 🤗
Thank you so much 😊
Gorgeous dress
Thank you so much 😊
Karina you take tailoring to whole other level ,Love this, what a great job 😍
Thank you so much 😊. Fabric can really be manipulated to work for more structured styles. Interfacing does wonders. Thanks for watching 😊.
Beautiful! I was in two minds as to whether I NEEDED this pattern or just wanted it! You've convinced me it is definitely in the 'need' camp 😁
I’ve made it a second time this week and I love it so much. You won’t regret it :)
Amazing! Beautiful!
Thank you so much 😊
Karina, whilst your fabric choice and construction methods made this dress a challenge, they have elevated your Holyoke dress to another level!😍😍😍 You look gorgeous...and the shoes❤👌 Loved all of the sewing details you included in UC&SP. Can't wait to see the lovely Nateida's version.
Thank you so much 😊. I need a holiday after this dress 😄
Great job as usual love the print well worth the time and effort
Thank you so much 😊
Excellent job! Through explanation. Thanks 👍
You are an amazing teacher.
So glad I took Nateida’s advice & came on over to your channel. Excellent instructions and I love both your dress and the way you can adapt patterns so brilliantly. Have subscribed because I want to see much more. Thank you.
I’m
So glad you came over from Nateida’s channel. Thank you so much. There are hundreds of videos here.
Lovely fabric, I also enjoy viscose a lot, but it’s shifty. However your dress in the end was worth all the extra trouble. Very pretty.
I really love rayon for the feel and flow and it can be manipulated with interfacing for more structure. More work yep 😄
I believe it was right taking a break to sewing after your immaculate work on this dress...
It looks wonderful but considering all the difficulties that could only be handled by a very experienced sewist, I suppose this pattern could easily end up as an unfinished project. It is not good for someone with less patience than you have.👏👏👏👏👏🤗🤗🤗
Believe me, I have patience to finish and this is a very special dress. I think fabric can be manipulated into working for different styles. I wanted a flowy skirt and that meant I had to stabilize the bodice :)
Great video, with a lot of useful information. That fabric is beautiful, I love how you made it work for the pattern. The finished dress looks amazing inside and out, as usual.
Thank you so much 😊. I had a vision for it and I’m so happy with it.
Haya. Absolutely beautiful, immaculate precision. Your fabric, dress & shoes are fantastic. Worth every hour you worked on it. Thanku sew much for sharing. x
Thanks for watching 😊.
Wow! Beautiful job. All of that hard work sure paid off.
Thank you so much 😊. I’m so happy with the dress now that I’m done he he
What a fascinating tutorial....you’re so clever and it’s been a real help as I’ve just received some pretty fabric that’s a little sheer and will need lining if I use it for a bodice so now I know how to do it ....it will be a bit of a stretch but now I can use it as a point of reference .... it looks great on you too and was totally worth the effort
Love this dress and it is awesome on you. I have this pattern. Now I want to make it!
If you already have it, make it. You’ll love the fit. Specially the straps. Thanks for watching 😊.
I am so glad you have this video. This is exactly what I wanted to do to the Hampton dress from Cashmerette which can interchange the skirt on the Holyoke. I did not want to use facings. So glad this is so in-depth and different. Exactly what I needed and wanted to to! Thank you! ❤
Wow! You are so talented! Such an inspiration.
Thank you so much 😊
Absolutely stunning! I’m not sure I could do this but So want to.
You’ll never know unless you try :)
These are techniques to build on and they are totally doable.
So pretty! What a pattern placement challenge! I love that part of sewing myself, but yes, it can make your hair thinner! A well drafted pattern!
I had the vision in my head and it took ages to materialize that. Happy now that I have it 😂
Worth every extra minute! You look beautiful in this dress, and the construction is impressive!
Thank you so much 😊. It really was worth all the extra time.
Cheers for featuring our music mate!
Great job. It looks nice on you, I love the finishings inside.
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful. Thanks for showing the details. I’m learning loads 😀
Thank you so much 😊. I’m glad this helps.
That was a lot of work Karina, but it turned out really nice!!😎
It’s sure way! I need a holiday 😄
Beautiful job on the dress, it's so pretty. I love your lining of the bodice.
Thank you so much 😊. It feels amazing on.
Loved the dress, loved the fabric, loved the shoes…what a match. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. 🐶
Thanks for watching 😊. The shoes now have a matching garment 😄
Fantastic job on this dress. I just bought the pattern and will follow your tutorial to add the lining and interfacing. Thank you so much for your wonderful instructions!
I’m glad you enjoyed it and that it will help you line. Thanks for watching 😊.
It's lovely 🤗👏🙌💖
Thanks for watching 😊.
Really gorgeous! Love the fabric and the dress! Great job!
Thank you so much 😊
Karina your dress is stunning... I am a new sewer and would love to live next door to you..lol.. I find it hard to sew a straight seam at the moment any tips would be appreciated. I am going to look through your videos as I love the way you explain...xx
Straight seam sewing comes with practice. When I was a child, I had a paper with lines and I’d sew on the line to practice. I did this with scraps of fabric too with lines marked with chalk. It’s a skill of getting the hand of the speed of the machine too. The metal plate underneath has marks that can help as a guide to keep a straight seam. Above all it’s just a bit of practice. It’ll improve quickly 👍🏼👍🏼. I’m happy you are sewing! That’s the most important thing. Thanks for watching 😊.
I've been waiting in anticipation for this video! So interesting! I actually sewed my toile similar to you apart from my waistband was more fudged than refined like yours. My final I followed instructions and was left quite confused in parts. I'm def going to make another but I need to recover from the first one first lol you did a fantastic job and I always enjoy seeing how you put your own spin on patterns.
I need to recover too! I need a holiday after this one. Thanks for watching 😊.
This is a fantastic dress. And -0h- with those shoes. WOW! Tutorials like this are so very helpful. I love them. Not too long, either. I have watched this several times to absorb all of the information. Thank you so much. Do you ever have any trouble with your interfacing fusing to your rayon? I also hear you talk about block fusing. What is that?
Block fusing is taking the piece of fabric that will be used for facings, fusing interfacing to it and THEN placing the facing pattern pieces on the already fused fabric and cutting it out :)
I used tricot knit interfacing for rayon and it works well.
Karina seu vestido ficou lindo. Parabéns pelo capricho!!
💖
I've now watched this video twice and will no doubt watch it a few more times while making this dress. My question is what was the fabric you used for the lining, woven or knit? I do so love your dress and all the details you shared with us.
I used a cotton lawn. A woven. My method does not follow the pattern instructions, just in case. The lining changes everything. Thank you so much for watching.
Your dress is a gorgeous work of art! I was really interested in how to do a lining when the lining patter isn't provided. Question : Why did you stay stitch neckline AFTER applying the interfacing to the neckline? Love your videos. Ruth in mid Canada.
Actually, interfacing could have replaced the stay stitching altogether. I handle my pattern pieces with extreme care and that’s what I did when I fused on the interfacing first. I thought touching it to do the stay Stitch would have deformed the neckline. Rayon is very flimsy and stretches like crazy. Hence my need to stabilize ASAP. Interfacing is superior to stay stitching in my opinion. I did both. Thank you so much for watching :)
Lovely as always, but you certainly chose the hard way with your fabric choice. lol Would have liked to have seen the dress as the designer intended. Looked like a good design for a maxi.
Maxi is definitely not the style that makes me feel good. I am accepting a maxi skirt at this stage with a huge step out of my comfort zone. Length of dresses is always up for change in my books 😃. At this stage, the designer’s intended look can work for those who like all the features, I’ll always make it the way I’ll feel best in.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I used to be like that, put found things got repetitive and it limited me trying new styles. Mind you some don't work, but it is always surprising how many actually do.
I think it’s mainly to do with my current figure. I have in my head that if I wrap myself from head to toe in the same fabric it’ll be too much 🤷🏻♀️. I’ve got in mind to try a maxi length dress soon but in a less full skirt and in chiffon.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles As you know there are no rules that it has to be one fabric. Could have a black waist band with coordinating 3-4 band at the bottom, fabric going one way for the bodice and opposite for the skirt. You know......the Karina (and Lauren) way. lol
Beautiful job on your dress. Pero, sus zapatos...me gustan. (forgive my grammar)
Ha ha Gracias! I love them and now they match something 😄
8min of talking at the beginning was enough to skip through your video. Your explanations are way to long for me, perhaps I'll like your other videos!?
Fair enough. If you look at the length of other videos you’ll note this is an exception and a special project. Also, the sewing process had advanced techniques. Thanks for skipping through. That’s fine and maybe yes, you’ll like other ones.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles perhaps I will! I want to learn, not hear long winded explanations and slow execution. I look for lessons that are thorough but to the point.
Thank you for acknowledging my feedback. I'll look for your next video!
Allysa Hosford, Karina is an excellent sewist and a very gifted teacher. Perhaps some of the explanations and techniques are beyond your current abilities but watching Katrina’s will definately make you a better sewist. I have learned so much from her and I have been sewing for many, many years.
