- This is another garment I made as part of my pinned into reality series. This time I made a maxi skirt with stripe play in knit fabric with easy pockets and a curved waistband.

* Size Large
* Maxi skirt lengthened by 2” at the lengthen/shorten line
* Extra center seams front and back instead of on the fold…. To allow stripe play
* Reverse binding on the gathered pockets
* Rayon Spandex

I am surprised to see you make a maxi length, it's very flattering. Love the idea of adding a control panel in the skirt please show that. You have a talent for turning a pattern into something very special and custom and I enjoy watching and learning different techniques and I know it's okay not to follow the instructions!

Very flattering skirt on you. I LOVE pockets, and with a control panel, I'd be in heaven! I'm always on the lookout for bottoms with functional pockets and this looks like a winner, shorter version though. 7/26/19 Feature Friday, maybe it'll come back around again in 2021.

Skirt turned out great. Sometimes, making a maxi out of a knit fabric, depending on the type of knit, there can be a lot of drag with so much fabric hanging, and it stretches. Oh horrors - it keeps getting longer and re-hemming is required. Glad yours stayed put.
I’ve heard that and I left mine hanging for 48 hours. It didn’t really change, thank goodness and I didn’t trip on it yesterday when I wore it out to go to town. Whew.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Yes long skirt can be a minefield of logistical walking disasters. Escalators, being my most fearful. lol

I brought this a while ago. I made it from a type of velvet look stretch. The yoga waistband wouldn't hold it up😁😁 I need to try again as I love this. Your version is gorgeous. Xx
Maybe the weight of the fabric is too much? I’d stay with a light weight for this style and if heavier I’d do a contrast waistband with activewear fabric.

I’ve seen this technique in other knit patterns from Love Notions... to bind armholes and necklines. Muscle memory took me there for the skirt. Thanks for watching 😊.
This skirt looks amazing on you. I'm 5'2" so can't really wear maxi skirts but this looks so good on you!
The pattern comes in various lengths too. My next will be above the knee with the control panel and modified pocket. I think a maxi with stripes and heels could make you look taller 😁

I hesitate to buy this pattern. I love this skirt so much. But I am afraid about the fit around my belly because of knit fabric. If you show us your tips and tricks for a big pocket.....it could change everything 😉.. Thank you Karina

When you sewed the pocket binding to the skirt gathered pocket, how did you decide which side to go on the feed dogs?
I put the gatherers on top so I can control them. When gathering is a feature I do that. If the gathering is slight and it’s only to ease into another piece, I put the gatherers on the bottom so the feeddogs can help :)
