Imperious Perfect is not just a Lord, it makes it's own army, so theoretically you bring it in against control and force them to sweep one card. It's not a good sideboard strategy, but there's definitely a plan there.
I think for "Meme or Dream" if you go 0-3 in matches with no game wins, you should be allowed to "fix" the deck and update it when better cards while keeping the spirit of the deck the same. Then if you can bring it back and win 2 out of 3 of the next matches, you can consider it a successful fix.
I'm thinking maybe early in development Jegantha was the companion taking up the 15th SB slot. But they switched gears and removed Jegantha as the companion but didn't backfill it's slot in the SB.
fun fact, if you wait to activate World Tree because they might have a stifle, and you don't have a way to remove it, next turn they're more likely to have stifle.
He activated during their upkeep before they drew a card. It's actually an incredibly smart play, because then at least he makes them spend Mana on their own turn.

They previously showed Discontinuity, so doing it on their upkeep forced their hand to either let it go or end their own turn to exile it off the stack if that was all they had. Without further information, it was the objectively correct play.

I would love to see against the odds world tree episode. Use Timeless Lotus and Teferi, who slows the sunset to activate the world tree. It's probably still not good but it could make for a good video. (I also wouldn't have to waste wildcards seeing if it would work, lol)
That wizard doesn't reveal the player's identity is a hint that there was never a person winning with that kind of deck. I would have my name written in gold letters and posted it everywhere if I'd won with this deck :D
I honestly think it happened. I have seen what kind of utter garbage you run into if you bottom out your elo rating, and I have no doubt that this nonsense could make it against lunatics running 250 card piles of chaff.

i've heard a theory that someone screwed up and accidentally programmed it to find 0-6 lists instead of 6-0 ones. it's probably not true, but it does an elegant job of explaining everything. a lot of the other common theories, that wizards is making things up to make the metagame look more diverse or statistical noise means some awful decks get in, don't really explain why such a high proportion of these decks are filled with uncastable/do-nothing cards, when well-built tier 3-4 decks get comparatively less representation.
Its especially weird because after playing around with this style of deck for a bit, my conclusion is that the boar god is one of the better options. The boar lets you get one big creature that you drew out of your hand and onto the battlefield. If its Rhonas or Purpherous, that's a huge deal, letting you attack with double power the turn everything comes down. The correct combo is probably Rhonas, Purpheros, the Boar god, and some other big body with evasion.
This reminds me of all the decks I "build" just to try something new and have some fun, but then get into a drawn-out game and get kinda close to pulling off what I want to accomplish. So I flip gears and try to play it seriously. Only to get upset when I inevitably lose lmao.

There is an incredibly busted version of this deck you can play in historic brawl with golos as the commander to grab the world tree. very few decks play land destruction so as long as you have enough mana to crack world tree you are generally winning. the trick is to not play out your gods if you draw them so OP doesnt suspect to have 20+ gods with haste swinging out
Should have thrown in a Chromatic Orrery or two, that could have gotten your world tree to pop on like turn 6. It's still not a good deck then but at least if you live to turn 6 it'll do something.
Chromatic Lantern lets all lands tap for any mana, "Rukarumel, biologist" can name "God" as the creature type which makes all creature cards you have EVERYWHERE have the "God" type, and World Tree vomits every creature in the deck onto the board! (Edit: Bonus points for bringing "Ramos, Dragon Engine" If you have +1 counters he can pop for exactly the World Tree's activation mana!)
If you tank your mythic ranking hard enough it's all people screwing around with silly fun trash like this. Wotc should limit the decks to ones that win with players rated 90% or above or something like that.
Wow, I saw in this video one normal day in arena for me. Except I play tier decks and nonethless get at least 5 to 6 losses before my first win. EVERY day.
@59:53 Couldn't you have played the God-Eternal Oketra and had a blocker for the Gargaroth? The Esika could block either of the other two creatures and survived and you could do the World Tree thing next turn.
For this series, always remember, there is non 0 chance you play against 6 people in a row who early scoop due to personal issues IRL. Keep finding the decks that just won due to connection issues of opponents.

I was just having that thought: you want ramp that gets the cards out of your deck eventually. But then again, Seth doesn't play too much of the gates deck.
Some thoughts I had on the idea of fixing this deck-idea; If you really wanna go with all-ramp as far as your gameplan outside of World Tree is concerned, might want to consider putting in some creature-lands to keep pressure and stay on the defensive. With all the explores and Growth Spirals in the deck, I'd say Tatyova, Benthic Druid is just value waiting to be tapped into and gives you a pinch of sustain as well. Similarly, some Risen-Reefs could be explosive. Mixing in a Nissa, Who Shakes the World could be dicey, but in excessive ramp decks, I always find the idea of lands that fight hilarious. Lastly, I'd say cutting gods would be fair so long as you replace them with new gods and there are a few that I think could definitely offer you more value. Karametra could ramp you, Mogis would give you some vague sense of a clock for the opponent, Erebos is a good sideboard to hate on life gain while letting you dig more for stuff, Locus God, while on the expensive side, gives you a wide option to play at, Egon could work as an early threat with all your cycling giving it sustain, there are just some basic utilities that some other gods could provide that I feel weren't being covered and as long as Purphoros is giving the board haste and Rhonas is there to threaten lethal, everyone else is alright to switch around and experiment with, I'd say.

The rebuild was definitely more consistent, but I think that it was still trying too much to rely on good draws. it may have been better to run creatures like wood elves and elvish rejuvenator in place of the explores and growth spirals, then I'd say maybe cut back to 24ish lands to run a couple binding of the old gods. I do like the joint explorations though, since they scry. Also, holding an esika if you're close to being able to cast prismatic bridge seems like it would be better than just playing the esika with no pay off. As far as gods go, I'd say you can probably get away with maybe four different big pay-off gods with pairs of each, and then play sets of Esika and Kolvori
actually the longer i think about it, i think it would just be best to steal a vetted historic colorless ramp list, strip out the usual top-end synergies and finishers, and plug in chromatic orrery , an alpha-strike selection of gods, and 4x world tree
I like to skimp a little bit on lands in my edh decks. I usually run around 32 lands with 10 ramp or mana rock spells. I see a lot of people saying you should run around 38 lands but I think you can go a little lower because of the free mulligan.
So if you hit platinum and then lose a bunch of games, you are still technically in plat, but you will get matched up against silver players right? That could be a way this deck wins some matches.
Combo had its place in the game in 2004 when it was a necessary piece in the design philosophy of rock-paper-scissors metagame (aggro-control-combo), but it's pretty clear that modern play design has long since left RPS metas behind. There's really no longer any need to let combo decks live in pretty much any modern format. #banGreasefang I think you were hamstrung by the number of gods. The deck really needed something like 2-4 Leyline Binding. Not as good without fetchland-triome, but you need to be able to remove something relatively early even if it costs 3 mana in Historic instead of 1 mana in Modern. I think some big ramp would've been really useful like Migration Path or Verdant Mastery. Normally, those cards are bad, because there's little reason to want to go from 8 lands to 10 lands in the late game, but that's exactly what this deck needs. Speed bump ramp like a lowly Springbloom Druid could also buy you one more turn.
Decks like this make me wonder why I can only win five out of six in a row at the Platinum rank with my mono red deck that only has 16 mountains and no other lands, sigh.
i have a theory re: how these decks get published what if whatever method WOTC uses to track win streaks tracks by player instead of deck. so people go on a big run, hit a new rank floor and switch to something fun and bad (i know i definitely do this), then every once in a while someone nabs a win on the new deck and it shows up on the WOTC article because its the deck they were playing when they finished the streak
This deck has nothing going on in the early and middle game. 4 copies of Egon, God of Death should be in this deck. Early card draw and blocking, later game bomb. Ramp mana and thin deck with land search instead of mana dorks. More board control if you need mid game stall for your combo.

The reason for lots of mythics but still seems budget is that you get lost or 1-ofs from packs/rewards but not playsets of key cards

@saffronolive an alternative rebuild could use Chromatic Orrery to jump from 7 mana to 11 instead of grinding your way up there one landdrop at a time
