It's better with 4 Azusas many journeys (which will become the new rampant growth) and 4 invasion of zendikar. Also 3 etali and 3 breach the multiverse. The goal is to quickly go 2 -> 4 -> 7 or 6 and sac a treasure to get portal. Interaction suxxx (binding and spite are duds) my take is full combo and SB as needed. Got to diamond on arena barely playing last season and know the next set will add a couple great ones

Gotta remember that Invoke Calamity lets you go off with Chaotic Transformation on your opponent's end step. That probably breaks backs all day.

It's a cool idea. What about trying to put roles on your token creatures to spin into enchantments like overwhelming splendor or omniscience. Opens you up to being blown out, but allows you to create token enchantments.

Okay, so I just tried this with Royal Treatment to protect the 1/1 you can make with Return from the Wilds and oh *boy* does it work a treat. Lets you spin straight into One with the Mulitverse and go all the way off from there. Just sucks having to retool the deck to not use Careful Cultivation or Stimulus Package.

He makes 99 mistakes per game with this deck. He clearly doesn't quite comprehend the gameplan of using civilian blockers, food for stalling etc.
He has had 1 or 2 ways out on half his losses on board lol. 😊

I’ve been playing a lot of chaotic transformation in standard. I prefer to play it in a control shell that tries to slow down the game rather than a ramp shell since the ramp shell compares poorly to domain ramp. Control gets a lot of incidental tokens these days between the wandering emperor and sunfall.
It was a lot of fun in the mono black meta when threats weren’t as diverse, but it’s a bit more challenging now.

I played a decent amount of this in Standard. Losing Fable was a huge blow to the deck, but Chaotic Transformation is legitimately powerful, albeit with lots of setup and deck building requirements.

regarding the lands, I'm honestly not even sure you want black and blue in your manabase, I'd argue that just makes it worse. you need those colors only in case you wanna hardcast Atraxa, and by that point in the game you most likely have enough treasure tokens to do that anyway

I built an Izzet chaotic transformation deck using Ovika, Enigma Goliath as the finisher. Super fun to play and the Ovika often catches opponents off guard as it's able to turn the corner super fast

21:15 definitely agree with the tactical concession there. Keeping the hand was a mistake, but conceding game one after the mana screw was objectively correct play. you were zero percent to win that game, so best to hide information

Also, this deck did play invasion of zendikar in the sideboard. That could be why there are so many basics. I still think running 5 or 6 basics is plenty though, because this deck only needs to get to 6 lands to combo off

This deck feels like the big-brain version of a galaxy-brain idea. I've seen the idea of this deck before and one of the great things about it is that there can be some level of personalisation in what cards are your end-game and any relevant plans built around said end-game. You could run a role-package to spin into an omiscience and just run big explosive cards, you could run a pure ramp build that tries to race for a Door to Nothingness, there are so many choices for creatures that can just devastate a field, it's something a person can have alot of fun with to make their own.
I'd say for this version specifically, I find it odd that one of the cards missing from it's sideboard is one that directly answers some of it's worst matchup, Transmogrify. Basically just a creature-only version of Chaotic Transformation that's 2 mana cheaper, it's the bread and butter of most decks that use this kind of strategy. Having an Atraxa online at turn 3 could potentially outpace any aggro-plan and is probably going to jumpscare a control deck that thought tapping out on turn 2-4 against what appears on the surface as a Gruuhl deck would be safe. In this deck, it feels like it could even be a maindeck option, as getting to spin into an Atraxa early lets you fetch the rest of your package potentially and get your Portal to Phyrexia online ASAP.

You know, you saying that does make me realize that I have no idea which of the cards I have named here are or aren't in standard currently. I haven't played in standard rotation before or since 2017, so I have absolutely no clue of what cards are even part of it, especially with the changes done to rotation a year (?) ago.
The point still stands. It's a fun archetype that has alot of paths to take on how you get to your end board and what said end board looks like.

Sideboard plan of ramp hard and drop bombs every turn until they run out of counters/removal is an interesting idea, though maybe swap a few cards for Tyrranax Rex and some removal. In any event, this could be a good shell to experiment with on your own.

The idea of the deck seems sound, but it definitely should be running the "normal" ramp setup more so that there's persistent mana to cast your big stuff with if the game drags on. Thunderhead Migration and Battle for Zendikar in the main, sideboard should definitely have Brotherhood's End for the go-wide matchups and something to burn out a Sheoldred, as well as whatever Thrun effect is currently in Standard (meaning an uncounterable green beat stick), could probably support Burn Down The House pretty well as both a sweeper and a way to put a creature token on the board. And of course the mana base looks like it was "whatever's in my collection because I can't afford 12 gruul duals right now". Might be worth putting Topiary Stomper in the sideboard for control matchups, to pivot off of the Chaotic Transformation plan and into a simple ramp deck?
There could also be room in the mana base to put a couple more White sources, and be able to run Surge of Salvation in the sideboard, which could be an extremely potent addition with how dominant Black is in Standard.

Seth, match 2 - You should not have kept that hand. It did literally nothing unless you drew a green source, or 2 lands. Your deck does *nothing* before turn 4 without a green source.

I do not know what you are seeing. 1) Raffine had 1st strike so unblocked he would take damage before Atraxa gained any life. 2) the creature land drained for 2 so he was at 1 life. So even if that 1st strike didn't apply he would be dead as Atraxa had 8 power. 8+1 is 9

Maybe you could do something with role tokens to get the enchantments?? I guess the Careful Cultivation is kind of a necessary thing so cutting that would be hard but maybe you could use some instant or sorcery that makes the critters. But the ramp on the monks is helpful… hmmmmmm……

Chaotic Transformation is a real deck I've been playing since it came out on and off. Losing Fable was too big a blow really. It was such a glue card that made creatures and tokens while fixing your draw. Stimulus Package replaced it but not enough imo. Invoke should be in sideboard. Gut the rest of it. Brotherhood End, Ossification (if you play that many basics you might as well), and stuff like that. Idk why they're running the mana base they are though lol. I'd rather pay 2 or 3 for Leyline more often than have a sketchy mana base.
Oh, and Invadion of Ergamon (the 2 mana, rummage make a treasure token) should take Invoke's place in the main. Lowers the curve, fixes the draw, makes a treasure and is another hit for Atraxa.

35:24 Definitely the wrong call to pitch binding. You have 7 removal cards in your deck, 2 of which you've already seen. By comparison, you have 11 bombs, one of which you've seen, of which the only one you wouldn't be able to cast on the following turn was Portal to Phyrexia, which you would have only been one mana shy for. So your odds were double that you would draw a bomb versus removal. Plus, if you drew Portal and a land in the next three cards (by no means an impossibility), you were able to cast it. By this point, you've seen 13 cards in your 60 card deck, leading to a 10.6% chance of removal and a 21.2% chance of drawing a bomb.
I get that in these card-based builds, you tend to tunnel the one card the build is based on (it can make for better UA-cam at times), but sometimes the best play is to make the safe move and pitch that card rather than risk everything on drawing something that you have very low odds of finding.

For context, if you had drawn any of Invoke, another Chaotic Transformation, or Atraxa (which you did), you had enough mana to hard cast any one of them. Invoke would have cast the Chaotic Transformation from graveyard, Chaotic Transformation would have been a straight up replacement, and Atraxa just is bonkers and basically wins the game. Plus one treasure leftover means you have enough for a Leyline Binding if you find one in the next 10 cards (way more likely than 2).
