I said this at the beginning of the video but let me say it again. THESE ARE NOT PERFECT OPTIONS, but they are still FINE for those needing to stay within a budget. Get better if you can. Make changes when you can.
Thank you so much for doing this. I am on a budget and trying to stay as close to keto as possible. It's hard because some people say you need grass fed everything.
Bill's wife here....just thought I'd add "you can also buy meat that has been reduced for quick sale and freeze what you are not going to use right away...it just reduced because it is the last day the store can sell it...it is still good and safe to eat! "
A year ago my A1c was 7.4, I eat all the stuff you showed that was cheap. I eat the Vienna Sausages with a few chunks of block cheese and pork rinds for crackers. I eat a lot of ground beef, and on occasion my grocery store puts Boston Butts on sale for $1.48 a pound. I cook it in a Dutch oven or smoke it on my weber grill, both ways are delicious, and a 9 pound Boston butt goes a long way. I buy 0 carb hotdogs and use low carb wraps, make my own chili. I eat a salad ever once and a while. Bags of frozen Sawi fillets are fairly cheap, and broiled with butter and lemon are really good. I've said all this to show you can eat like this and do good, as my A1c has been 4.9 for the last 6 months, and I've had very few steaks. I eat sardines packed in water with pork rinds and some block cheese. I also buy frozen sliced calves liver, its pretty cheap , around $4.00 for 6 slices. Check in the meat section, I bought a 5 pound beef heart for a over $6.00. Sliced and fried its almost like steak, they also sell beef kidneys (though I've not tried them yet). Its possible to eat good on ketovore if you look around for stuff that fits you budget and if you're willing to step out of your comfort zone a little and at least try some new things.
My inexpensive carnivore dish: 1lb hamburger, 1/4 cup Spanish green olives, salt, pepper, paprika. It was unusual at first; now, I crave it constantly.
@@NeishaSalasBerry Yes they are. The last time I was in Walmart I found some beef cheek meat and it was huge and I cut it up for the week and it was fatty and delicious.
Thank you for this! We are pinching pennies for the next month to cover some unexpected expenses and I needed this reminder that this WOE is still doable on a budget! ❤️
@@michaelchavez1886, I don’t see what the differences in our bank account balances has to do with anything. I also choose to disagree with you on whether they care or not. DeNeice....I think most everyone is watching their dollars. Things are up SO much. Unless you are rich you are seeing everything go way up and worrying what is gong to happen to us. I sympathize.
I went from 3 to 4 meals a day, then I went to carnivore 6 months ago and I'm down to only 1 or 2 meals a day. So the initial up front cost can seem high, but over all I spend less per day to eat now and I feel at least 10 years younger ...its a win , win all around
I used to work at Sam's Club (also a Wal-Mart company) and we had one of those floor machines that worked automatically. I always thought it would be fun to train a cat to sit in that seat and just stare at customers as it went by. :-) Great video, very informative.
Thank you so much Neisha for sharing these budget friendly options. Some people think you must eat steaks every day or something like that in order to do the PHD. Even hotdogs and bologna is healthier than sugary, starchy junk foods!
I am so blessed to have a friend who sells us eggs. AND they are gorgeous, lavender, green and several hues of tan/brown, so lovely I keep them in an amish egg basket on the counter and just look at them! this is the good part!!!! $1 a dozen!.....yes!!!! And boy are they yummy! So try to find yard eggs somewhere out in the boonies ya'll!
I also discovered that while Walmart's standard ribeye is $12.97 a pound here in Texas, look next to it and there is an $11.97 ribeye, usually 2 to a pack, that's sliced just a little thinner which I like better, so for between $16 - $24, you've got two really nice filling meals, ribeye dipped in butter. That may sound like a lot until you realize you really don't have room for anything else that day, making it fit into a cheap budget for the month. ✔️
Hey Neisha, great video! Their frozen green beans are really good and budget friendly. I paid about 80 cents for a small bag, I usually grab enough to last the month and 1 bag feeds our family of 7 (4 grandkids here) easily. I add chopped onion, butter and leftover bacon to them... they tear it up! Also I do love the Birds Eye brand frozen broccoli and cauliflower that they carry in a few varieties varieties, they cost a little more but in a huge bag and it lasts us a while. Better quality and delicious! Not much more than the store brand! ~Texas
A farmer just came into business here and is offering grass fed cows. Really been thinking about it. They actually offer a subscription service so it's not so expensive up front. Chicken thighs roasted with Redmond's season salt are delicious!!! Also, my grocery bill is smaller when I eat ketovore. I don't buy keto friendly foods so that saves a lot of money. I just don't try to "replace" what I don't eat anymore. The only dirty food that I just can't give up is Hellmann's mayo. Frozen avocado?!?! Whaaa??? So I didn't know that was a thing!!! Thanks for pointing that one out!!!
@@kathytittle You better get it done. These ranchers and farmers are getting backed up. People are searching them out. I ordered a side of beef in early February. It came out to $5.48 a lb that's hanging weight wrapped and packaged with all the organ meat (the dogs eat it) dog bones and soup bones. The people who bought the other half didn't want any of that stuff so they are throwing that in from the other half for free pretty much (small charge for wrapping some of it). I should see it in two weeks. It was slaughtered on the 28th. They are booked out until September. Cows don't just show up on ranches and farms. Obviously, they take time to grow. I've booked another half, at the same price for delivery in August. Price stayed the same because I did it. Cost the ranchers nothing to have them on grass in the summer. I checked their price sheet yesterday and the prices have already gone up.
I always have canned tuna, sardines, and kippers. I also watch for sales on whole chickens for .99/lb. or less and cut them up myself. That way wings, legs, thighs, and breasts are all the same price and I still have the backs, carcass, and innards to put in the freezer and save for bone broth. I learned how to cut up a whole chicken by watching a UA-cam video so anyone can do it. No excuses. We also eat a ton of eggs and make a lot of quiches and egg casseroles. Also, I learned that our Kroger does their fresh meat markdowns on Sunday mornings so that is when we look for various cuts of beef. And Aldi has the best prices on pork tenderloins. Most are $4 and change or less.
We try to buy at least two rotisserie chicks each week. They freeze well, too, and reheat easily in the oven. Just purchased an air fryer and would love to see a cooking air fryer episode or recipes. 💓
Thank you Neisha! I just started recently and was happy to see so many of the items I've been using in your video. On a budget but determined to get healthy and put Hashimoto's in remission and lose this excess weight. Curious what you told the employee. You should have said "I'm a UA-cam telling my 102k subscribers what to buy at Walmart " 😆
I really appreciate the intention here. For us we have been learning and relearning over the last few years that eating really cleanly is a huge factor for us with our autoimmune problems and needing to watch out for gut health. so on the one hand I can't buy stuff with carrageenan and gums and sugars or hidden ingredients and on the other hands at this point we can't afford to eat and buy gas to get to work. Not sure what is going to happen. Pray for each other and for us, folks. Some folks voted for, argued for, and desperately wanted all this economic destruction that is being rained down on us but we did not. And I know lots of people didn't. Pray, pray, pray.
Keep an eye out for packaged "bundles". My Raleys had 4 tri tips in a pack for $3 less per pound. Asked the butcher what the difference was and was horrified 😜 is was less processed and had a lot of fat. It had a fat cap and I smoked it like a brisket. Can't wait to make another this weekend
Thanks for this. I didn't see anything totally new to me, but it was a very encouraging confirmation that I'm on the right track. Since I'm disabled, without a vehicle & on a fixed budget, I primarily shop Walmart, Amazon Fresh & Fred Meyer. They are the only stores in my area that both have phone apps & home delivery. I only stock my home with Ketovore stuff. I'm mostly eating meat. But also some dairy, veg, nut flours (for chaffles), and occasionally some berries. 🙏💖🙏
I buy meat in bulk when on sale. Some of my stores limit the amount you can buy so I buy the limit if my budget allows. Sometimes I go into the store and only buy the sale items or the cheap leader item. I also buy one for use and one for the shelf. When the shelf is opened for use, I start looking for a sale to replace it. I keep a notepad on my fridge and immediately write down the items we need to replace. I also food prep for the week and make sure I have all items for recipes.
I will also look for an all beef hot dog with as few ingredients as possible and without corn syrup. We have Winco here in Texas and they carry a grass fed all beef hotdog. I also always checked for discounted meat.
Winco has had some serious deals lately. I go in there a couple of times a week just to check out the meat prices. I scored some really good stuff two weeks ago. Thing is, once the deal is put out and gone, it's gone. So, you have to do the drive bye shopping to catch the good deals.
I do plant free carnivore,, Zerocarb. In the canned meats I like the corned beef ... not the hash ... that is all potato. The corned beef in the cheaper brands is usually just beef and salt. One can makes a good carnivore meal ... I just eat it straight from the can with a big glass of water (salty!). Spam and other canned meats usually have a lot of sugars and starches added, but, in a pinch even those will be better than breaking the diet. I always keep some cheap hotdogs, sardines, tuna on hand for easy cheap meals. I don't particularly like them, but, keep some for back up and stretch the budget. I routinely eat cheap ground beef, pork ribs and shoulder roasts, chicken leg quarters as my normal fare, and a couple chuck roasts cut up for steaks weekly. This WOE really is doable on a budget if yo are willing to explore the off cuts.
Really great info, Neisha. This type of video really helped me when I first started Keto 4-5 years ago. It's helping me a lot now as a reminder. We have a third of the money We had 2 - 3 years..(Not counting the money my dad left me 3 years ago. )We went from barely scraping by to wondering where the food is going to come from the last week and a half of the month. Most of our problem is :I eat as healthy as I can afford to and then Hubby buys the junk food. Thank you for this.
I have to disagree with the sour cream and cream cheese 😀 The cheap brands have so many fillers that sour cream is “jello cream”. I ♥️ my Daisy sour cream by the spoonful 😋Thank you for the video 🌻
Neisha, I love how your so helpful for people on a budget, even if you have a freezer so full of meat. Thank you for your video's and support. Love your videos, thanks.
Ty for this, particularly the shelf stable because I have a bit of a prepper mindset and this gave me a few ideas I had not thought of. 4 weeks in, 13lbs down and I really am getting so much help from alot of your videos. God bless and thankyou!
@@nrob450 Vienna sausage is just hotdogs in a can instead of chilled Can’t rly call either food, can’t sustain life on either Chicken breast in can Tuna Sardine Spam Salmon in can if can afford Theres beef and pork in cans, but not affordable either Keep chickens for eggs Milk will be thing of the past
I have noticed since we switched to a proper human diet so many people comment on how much we must spend on food. In fact, the processed crap is way more expensive if you look at how much of it you have to eat to feel full, and even if you just calculate it by the pound. I have been eating more chicken and pork. We don't LOVE chicken but it is so cheap right now compared to other things. But budgeting is 100% do-able in this way of life. So many people need to hear and see what you say in these videos. I love it!
I am fortunate enough to live near several grocery stores and after having gone ketovore/ carnivore, having canned chicken on hand for a quick chicken salad with primal kitchen mayo is a great budget friendly option
We do Primal Kitchen buffalo sauce with 2 canned chicken from Sam’s and 1 packet cream cheeses. All in a pot till melted and blended then put in 8x8 pan add shredded cheese bake at 350 till cheese is golden and use the cleanest pork rinds for dipping. 😊
This is why I love watching you! You're down to earth and reasonable. All these gurus pushing grass-fed, grass finished, perfectly clean all the time.... It feels undoable. This makes it feel doable!!
Thank you for this! I like the canned corn beef and make a Reuben casserole with a little kraut, Swiss, riced cauliflower its so good. I need to look for those combo packs of wings and thighs, that was a much better price than buying wings at 3.99lb. Also your nails are so pretty, ready for spring 🌺🌻🌷⚘
Thanks. I'll have to look for the frozen avocados. I've recently found that beef neck bones and shanks are relatively inexpensive. They just require longer cooking times to be tender.
If you have a Kroger, the meat is way cheaper than Walmart. They have great meat specials and send me tons of coupons. Ground beef, chicken and pork are usually the cheapest meats. I rarely buy processed meat because it ends up being more expensive due to less protein and more carbs vs fresh meat. For $6 I can get a huge package of chicken thighs.
Thanks for showing us alternatives even though they may not be the cleanest during these times ! My rent went up $400 a month so I’ve gotta be very careful buying food these days !
My understanding was that there are two types of eggs...pasture raised organic and all others. Free range just means they are not in cages and have the ability to go outside, but it does not mean they go outside very often, if at all. You can see a HUGE difference when you look at the yolk of the Pasture Raised Organic Happy Eggs (or the Heritage Happy Eggs). Ask your facebook friends about eggs and meat. They may be able to introduce you to locals who sell less expensively. For instance, I have a friend who owns a farm and sells pasture raised eggs for $3 per dozen in the Gainesville, TX area.
I buy the starkist tuna packets. My favorites are the hickory smoked and the hot sauce. Also they have tubs of pork rinds that go great with the tuna or as a snack all by themselves. Walmart has started carrying Lily’s chocolate in bars and in baking chips.
Great tips, Neisha! Now that I have to put my whole paycheck in the gas tank, I have been considering fasting 20:4 on the days I work and just eat carnivore when I get home.😱
I’m glad to know that Walmart carries frozen avocados. I Order curbside pickup, but I miss opportunities to discover new products. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the shopping event, you are very helpful with your information. Never seen mackerel in a large can in the store. Ordered some on Amazon. I don't own a car so ordering heavy items on Amazon helps my hip to stay put. I have found some pretty good deals. Eating the remaining of veggies in fridge that will go bad quickly. Planning on going carnivore for a month or more. I feel grateful that Aldis and 3 other grocery stores are in walking distance. Our Walmart's was closed down so the nearest is not walking distance.
I mathed it out a couple years ago, Aldis meat was about the same per pound as at Gordon Food Service, but in more manageable amounts. We didn't have storage or budget at the time for $50 packs of chicken or pork, but a smaller pack from Aldis at a similar price per pound would fit in our tiny freezer. After we moved the inlaws bought us a chest freezer. We've been considering buying half a cow when we can fit in in the budget now that we have somewhere to store it
Asian market??? Honey- I'm so far back up in the hills-- a really skinny guy came through here on a horse yelling something about the BRITISH.... :) His hat was weird- had 3 points on it.. :)
I hit a bargain at my Walmart a couple of weeks ago. Whole chickens for $0.50/pound!!!!! Also, got the 10 pound tube of ground beef for $25.80ish!!! It is now $33. Ish. Try to shop the sales. Local save a lot had t bones for $4.99/ pound. My freezer is full!!!
Wow, you have some great prices! Our gas is over $2 / litre, which is about $8 / gallon, and the food is much more expensive up here, north of the border.
I recently found ground beef at my gas station store on sale for 1.99/pound. I freeze sale meat and also can some of my meats too. So, if you like the convenience of canned chicken, maybe consider learning to can it as it could be cost effective.
Pork and chicken are still reasonable. It's tiring to just eat those though. I have a side of beef coming in a couple weeks. Once I re-organize the freezer to get that in, I'll go looking for pork. There are some really sweet meat markets around here. If you are thinking of a side or whole beef, you'd best book it. The rancher I buy from is booked out until September and their prices are going up. They too have families to feed and their other food prices and fuel prices are going up too.
I live in Toronto, Canada. We don’t scape from rising cost of gas and food. I tend to go a lot to Asian supermarket. They have good deals on chicken and pork chops. Their regular price is lower than in most large grocery store like Walmart. My food now is 30% chicken, 30% pork, 10% eggs, 10% beef (ground beef at regular price or on sale), 10% fish and 10% seafood. If you have Asian supermarkets nearby, then go for it.
Good video we all have to find budget-friendly items and have to cut back as needed. Aldi is very good and we do local markets for meat when we can. Hot dogs, 73/27 hamburgers can work. By eggs in larger quantities 36 to 48 count and hard boil them.
This is such a great video. On top of all the strange times I’ve been navigating successfully chemo radiation for a cancer recurrence. Walmart grocery delivery has been such a great service. So many of the things you mentioned are on my Walmart list. I also get sides of fresh salmon, breakfast sausages, bacon. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at all the fresh veg and berries I’ve ordered. Was worried if I didn’t pick them. Have always gotten a beautiful selection. You rock!
I said this at the beginning of the video but let me say it again. THESE ARE NOT PERFECT OPTIONS, but they are still FINE for those needing to stay within a budget. Get better if you can. Make changes when you can.

Thanks Christy, I will have to look for them the next time I'm in WinCo
Neisha you are helping the average American. Thank you!!!
Thanks, Neisha. This shopping haul was great! 🙂
I said it was fine not great lol
Daisy all the way!!!
@@feebee5557 Do-do-do the dallop Daisy… 😀
Daisy is the best, the cottage cheese is my hubby and sons fave kind.
I replaced dairy with organic Sauerkraut and chia seeds.
I SOooo appreciate a video like this. So many are on a serious budget these days and need ideas. Thank you 🙏
Your hair is so cute today!
thank you so much 🥰
Neisha, I love how your so helpful for people on a budget, even if you have a freezer so full of meat.
Prepper
On keto?
Lol
Do tell
Besides freezers full of meat
Yes, she's right - tuna, salmon, sardines, Vienna sausage, all good shelf stable meats to set aside.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah spam.
@@nogames8982
That’s it? Lol
@@nrob450 Vienna sausage is just hotdogs in a can instead of chilled
Can’t rly call either food, can’t sustain life on either
Chicken breast in can
Tuna
Sardine
Spam
Salmon in can if can afford
Theres beef and pork in cans, but not affordable either
Keep chickens for eggs
Milk will be thing of the past
The Walmart brand of sardines are only 80 cents a can.I get the ones packed in water.
Great info, will share with friends that are new to "shopping keto".
"If you can't do it in the rain, it is not worth doing"...I've said this ever since I moved to north western Oregon. Enjoy the wetness!
This is why I love watching you! You're down to earth and reasonable. All these gurus pushing grass-fed, grass finished, perfectly clean all the time.... It feels undoable. This makes it feel doable!!
Embrace your kindness and knowledge and sharing nature. Blessings to you and all your family.
I never go to Walmart but I have to admit, it's cheaper than Publix! Good video!!
You are absolutely glowing!😍
Thank you, Neisha for going out of your way for us! You are so appreciated in all that you do! ❤❤❤
I definitely need more recipes on how to prepare meat... and mainly tenderizing.
They should be happy with your filming. You showed them in a pretty decent light. We all just have to do the best we can do.
Thanks for this video Neisha. Very helpful ❤🙏
For those who have Aldi near them...meats are a good price.
I have noticed more posts where employees are questioning content providers.
Thanks for showing us alternatives even though they may not be the cleanest during these times ! My rent went up $400 a month so I’ve gotta be very careful buying food these days !
This video brought tears to my eyes was so good thank you
Thankyou for this we are on food stamps this was so helpful
You did such a great job. Tons of information in a short amount of time! Bon appetite, everyone!
While here in California.....
"$4.00 a gallon" you guys are so blessed! 💯
I went to the butcher shop Saturday they gave me a 30# box of bacon for 3.79 a pound. Heck yes! 😋 🥓
BOOM!!!! That's an amazing deal
Times are weird, lol....God bless us all in these strange times.
Philadelphia Cream Cheese has half the carbs. That’s a splurge I feel is worth it. Best price I’ve found is at Sam’s.
The name brand cream cheese and the sour cream are better because they don't add fillers.
Neisha, there’s also a supremo chorizo that’s very economic friendly that’s zero carb at Walmart.
Also, our Walmart doesn’t sell chicken liver or gizzards😢
Thanks for price checking 😊
You are correct about Asian and Latino markets I find great buys on meats. Hi from Maryland.
Yay! Missed these kind of videos from you ❤️
I may do a series on the different stores and cheap options
PLEASE DO!!
I buy the starkist tuna packets. My favorites are the hickory smoked and the hot sauce. Also they have tubs of pork rinds that go great with the tuna or as a snack all by themselves. Walmart has started carrying Lily’s chocolate in bars and in baking chips.
The hickory smoked are my fave, too!
Pork rinds and tuna sounds delicious! I never thought of that combo before. Thank you for mentioning it. 😊
Great tips, Neisha! Now that I have to put my whole paycheck in the gas tank, I have been considering fasting 20:4 on the days I work and just eat carnivore when I get home.😱
I love tuna salad with pork rinds as my dipper! I also love it in the egg life wraps as a tuna salad wrap.
I buy Dollar Trees pork rinds, which are much cheaper.
Had no clue you could get frozen avocado!
First I've heard of it too! Will be buying this next week for sure.😊
Me either. I eat them everyday. Will save on some going bad 😊
15 ounce mackerel in brine used to be $1 at Dollar Tree - for years. Now the cans are smaller and $1.25 instead.
Thank you for this! You are more beautiful each time I see you. My Hashimoto’s is not under control yet.
What’s up neisha! Your videos are entertaining! Keep it up
Thanks Neisha. Walk thru like this are always helpful even for those for us that have been eating Keto for awhile.
Omg 😳 you guys have awesome prices ❗️ here in Hawaii this stuff is double if not tripled 🥺
I love your grocery hauls. I enjoyed this.
Love grocery hauls
What's better than one berry? two berrys!
I buy the challenge butter at Walmart. It has a .55 coupon insider the box.
You rock!
Thanks, all great info and helps people make better choices with food😀
I pick up my 1/2 cow share in two weeks!!! $6.27/lb.
Thanks, Neisha!
I love vienna sausages and if I'm running errands, I will eat them once in awhile.
