I turned 60 this past July 2024 and retired 2 years ago. I started collecting pennies again like I did when I was little. Which led me to coin roll hunting and selling interesting coins on Ebay. There are TONS of coin roll hunting videos on youtube. I got hooked on coin roll hunting after selling two weird pennies I found, each for over $50 on ebay! It is not a regular income but pays more than the bank does in interest. And if you find a rare coin that collectors are searching for, you could make thousands. So start by searching through and any jars or piggy banks full of coins at your house and see if you hit the jackpot!!! I am going to have to check this out. A few years back I sold the majority of my dads coin collection on Ebay. They sold very well. The only coins left are buffalo nickles' lots of pennies and mercury dimes.
I always enjoyed my job and never saw it as just a 'daily grind.' I had a lot of freedom and flexibility back then. Its been three years since I retired, and while inflation has made it challenging to maintain my lifestyle and even worse when I lived in the city, relocating to the countryside has helped to manage better, its lonely, as most of my friends and family are still in their routines but It's been easier to stretch my savings and hopefully, I won't outlive it

All the younger folks I know- my nieces and nephews- are all dong a side hustle (Personal training, door dash...) I never had a side hustle at 25. I could pay my rent just fine. Times are different . Those are great ideas. I was anAmazon flex driver and I delivered both groceries and packages. There are a lot of people who live in 3rd floor apartments who order a lot of groceries and heavy cases of water. If you're considering any delivery service, keep that in mind. I loved the job, but it was hard on my body.
When I did Door Dash, I would knock on door and tell them I can not carry the cases up Esp not for a $3 tip lol If they didn’t like it, tough My job doesn’t include hard labor They purposely do it so they don’t have to carry them. Nope, nope, nope. I srsly am not employed as manual labor. I’m delivering a meal or groceries. Not “able to lift 50#” in warehouse lol Even as Flex I would not accept super heavy boxes - again, I’m not agreeing to any wgt load to do Flex, unlike in the warehouse. I’m older too so most working Flex load ups were kind to me and would take those ridiculous boxes off my block that day.
@@YeshuaKingMessiahyeah, everyone’s in different shape. I’ve gotten out of shape, due to a knee injury, from a slip and fall. Even though I walk OK, particularly on pain killer, I don’t take pain killer everyday. So, delivery is not for me. But there are other things to do.
Yeah, I understand that not every choice is right for everyone… and that they all have some downsides. But I hope you’re able to land on something that ends up being a better fit for you,
I hear you. I do side hustle and refuse to do 3rd floor deliveries, especially water. I'll do some 2nd floor if small order and no water. My body can't take it anymore.😂
@@tomswanson4629 goes to show how things have changed. Because I can imagine a big, strong guy having a senior citizen carry his water up 5 flights of stairs.
My wife is nuts about quilting, sewing and all that. Last nite she showed me a swivelling stand she wants it cost about $ 150 . She asked if i could make cheaper. It has possibilities.
I became a quilter after searching out sewing groups that get together and I’m sure that would be a great source to gain customers for the swivelling stands you build. 😊
I work in home health care professionally and I teach a line dance class three times a week as a side hustle now. So a person could take an interest or hobby like dancing and turn that into a side hustle and extra income.
If you choose to deliver items up flights of stairs, you can purchase a lightweight stair climbing dolly for a great price. They have 3 wheels on each side that rotate as you go from one step to the next.I found one at a garage sale for 5 bucks. It easily holds 50 lbs. You will need bungees to secure items. I've had mine for 4 yrs and use it daily. Life saver.
I forgot about those! I used to be a shopper at a store, but half the time the other employees were never there on Sunday afternoons, so I was bringing groceries out to the cars, and there were usually five cars waiting at the same time and they ALWAYS had those large packs of water bottles and I'm no spring chicken so I was beyond exhausted when I got home so I had to quit. I have been thinking about starting my own grocery shopping service, but the thought of carrying those water bottle packs up stairs has stopped me. I'm going to look into buying the stair climbing dolly.
I’m sure that’s true to a degree. You have to choose what’s most important for you - and it sounds like the creativity is important. Hope you don’t stop creating!
Oh yeah. Maing your hobby your income can do that! I tried to make beaded necklaces from a company by mail and the directions were so hard I couldn't do it. They never refunded my money though I mailed their stuff back, a ripoff! I've heard, that it was a scam!
I’m 63 and I’ve been in IT for 25 years and been laid off 5 times since 2001. Unfortunately, this is normal for corporate life, especially in tech. So I’ve been spending most spare time learning new skills on UA-cam and via some training programs I bought into. My goal is to have some online businesses. So I’m about to make my ecommerce store go live as soon as I’m done with the site. Been studying marketing, email marketing and deliverability, social media marketing and I’m also working on Ai automation for a neglected niche and i hope to start my own SaaS business (software as a service).
11:49 - A few years ago I did IHC for a friend of a friend’s mom. I didn’t drive but I heated/made meals, tidied up, made sure the mom took her meds, etc. Mom was funny and sweet, the daughter treated me well; I also made 600 a week cash. When the mom was hospitalized they both wanted me to be her companion (for double the price), but I’m not a fan of hospitals so I had to decline. I still think of the mom sometimes.
I did some of this with two ppl for elderly parents. Ine lady didn't pay rhe promised amount and she was bad about communicating. It got so I thought it was dangerous not only for me but her mom to continue as her mom was obese, had dementia, and was starting to mess her pants. When her mom was hospitalized and the daughter out if the blue asked me if her mom should continue with rehab in the home I informed her I could no longer work for her situation. She accused me of dropping services abruptly. I let her know it was she who did that first by not telling me what was going on. I had no idea if her mother would be in much worse condition. It was sad, but I didn't want to put either of us in danger!

A problem with being an Amazon, Door Dash, Instacart, or similar driver is insurance. Your existing vehicle insurance is probably not going to insure you if you get into a crash, so check options.
Yeah my vehicle is too old according to Doordash(they also sent an email for me to sign on THEN when no contact-I called them tells me I need to get emails to sign on that they had too many drivers already🙄)
I did Uber Eats and Doordash for a couple months and made 5k. It's easy and you rarely have to interact with the customer. You can work when you want and get 55 cents per mile on your taxes.

I like your idea of skilled gardening services, but I would be on the hiring end. Most gardeners mow, blow and go - so I’d love to find someone who can prune, trim, do extra weeding etc. But where to find??
My 2 suggestions - even for hiring - would be to put your request in local facebook groups and on the Nextdoor app if it’s set up for your local community. If you’re willing to pay, I bet you’ll find someone soon.
Thanks so much for sharing 😊 I started a UA-cam channel yesrd ago and then took a break. I retired a year ir so ago and now I have more time to devote.
I’m considering lactation consulting? It’s along the edges of what I did professionally, years ago. And it’s an issue that’s important to me. I wonder if it’d be viable?
Make some visits to some local on-gyn’s to make your service known. And join every local mom group on Facebook in your community! (There’s sometime a bunch) and post things that young moms would find useful about lactation-related issues. I bet you’ll get some takers. And make a UA-cam video talking about your knowledge! 💥
I thought the time stamps show up automatically since I checked that, but there’s obviously more I need to do. Thanks for the thought - I’ll work on it!
If you possess Home Economics skills, perhaps teaching our young families how to grow, harvest and preserve food, realistic budgeting plans, household maintenance, etc. Teaching these skills to our young folks is vitally important. Especially today. Offer to provide training in their homes and maybe a weekly frozen meal plan and prep training. Too many can't even feed themselves. They're at risk.

When I did Door Dash, I would knock on door and tell them I can not carry the cases up
Esp not for a $3 tip lol
If they didn’t like it, tough
My job doesn’t include hard labor
They purposely do it so they don’t have to carry them. Nope, nope, nope. I srsly am not employed as manual labor. I’m delivering a meal or groceries. Not “able to lift 50#” in warehouse lol
Even as Flex I would not accept super heavy boxes - again, I’m not agreeing to any wgt load to do Flex, unlike in the warehouse.
That’s great! Perhaps you both can find a creative income opportunity with this. 🙂
That’s so great! You bet - none of us are one dimensional… so glad you’re making money with your talents! 🔥
@@DianeMoore thank you so much!

Hey I see you were so kind to share my video. I really appreciate it, MoneyMom!! ❤
Life saver.
Thanks for the tips! 💥
Side hustle has become main hustle and primary income source.
That’s wonderful! 🔥
I have done the craft thing. But it took the joy out of making that product.
Same.
All good stuff! Great job taking action and putting your specialized skills to work! 🔥
Great ideas Diane.
Thank you. My wife and I are both motivated by your insightful video.
That's wonderful to hear! 💥
@@hotdrumchick What do you mean by IHC?
@@heartfly43 In Home Care 😊

@@KM-zn3lx oh my goodness, it seems like it can be a lot of work.
It sounds similar to being a home health side.
I resell, and just started working Mary Kay instead of just using it for the discount; made a couple haul videos from reselling on my channel and then got overwhelmed. At 52, being more consistent with these side gigs is my goal and your UA-cam making video popped up for me tonight so now I am thinking I better make some. Think about it all the time, now your video made me think I better get on it, overwhelm and all! I’m now watching more of your videos; hope you get that watch time soon!! Your style is very nice!

Sorry but please be careful who your doctor is and what they're suggesting. Some operate on in ductal cancers that can be watched only. Also watch mammograms and bc pills. I know noone will believe me but it helped cause my own breast cancer. I decided after surgery and radiation not to take tamoxifen and watch sugar intake as well as low carb diet. Pray for guidance. God bless!

Great video! I'm a Gen Xer too and have been working remotely since 2002 in accounting/customer support/IT field. I started working remotely part-time to enjoy my life more and recently started a faceless youtube channel. Focused on making videos more helpful and I believe the money will follow 🙌🏽
Great! I tried a couple faceless channels and just found it wasn’t for me, but I know many succeed with them. Best wishes to you! 💥
Thank you! Same to you!!💖
I'm 59 and on disability. With Florida's increased insurance costs and outrageous HOA fees, it is destroying what little savings I have.
Selling my blood plasma. I get $105 a week and also help someone out with the medicine they make from it. You can only donate twice in any rolling seven day period and it takes about an hour and a half each time depending on how busy the donation center is.
Well done, You forgot to you mentioned Dumpster diving to resell, my fav haha but it is true, even when I made a ton of money, I could never not pull over to someones house that looked like their trash could be resold, I try not to do it anymore but I still do, its in the blood, I have 3 brothers and 1 sister that do it too
I’m sure you’ve found some wonderful (and profitable!) treasures!
What a great list of side hustles!
Brilliant ideas x I would absolutely love an old retired bloke to come and start and maintain a vegie garden for me as I have absolutely no idea where to begin lol.
Bet you can find one to come do it AND teach you how! 🙂
I'll give you a tip regarding finding clients for side work like yard work, house cleaning, etc., and that is target family caregivers. I am a caregiver for my mom now who is disabled and I don't have the time I used to for lawn care. So this year I hired out a guy to just cut the grass and do light weed eating. It was worth it because it freed up my time. Great list, thanks!
My daughter worked for Amazon for over two years and suffered injuries from the rate/speed they expected. Not an easy to do job for 50+
Most community’s have an elderly food program and most of them will hire for part time work. Check with your county.
Great suggestion, Dawn, thanks!
My county takes advantage of retired people and uses volunteers.
Thanks for the motivation and really good ideas Diane, I appreciate it. The key word is action.

This video was informative with great ideas, many not stated by others on UA-cam. Way to go!
Glad it was helpful! Hope it gave you some ideas about what you can do.
A problem with being an Amazon, Door Dash, Instacart, or similar driver is insurance. Your existing vehicle insurance is probably not going to insure you if you get into a crash, so check options.
Always best just to check with your insurance person to be sure of what you need.
Yeah my vehicle is too old according to Doordash(they also sent an email for me to sign on THEN when no contact-I called them tells me I need to get emails to sign on that they had too many drivers already🙄)
Also health insurance- I’m guessing that’s why people make more than the regular jobs - no health insurance?
Dianne, you are so resourceful. Thanks very much.
Hope some of these ideas have given YOU ideas about what you can do!

My number one side hustle for the past 32 years gas been being a focus group participant and mock juror. It’s fun and interactive.
I'm intrigued by the focus group thing! But never heard of being a mock juror - that's so cool
I did Uber Eats and Doordash for a couple months and made 5k. It's easy and you rarely have to interact with the customer. You can work when you want and get 55 cents per mile on your taxes.
Glad to hear you had a good experience with it!
Did you do it in a major city? I’ve noticed if you’re based in the suburbs you may have to go to the better areas to get more gigs.

Thanks for the information! Would you consider using timestamps?
I thought the time stamps show up automatically since I checked that, but there’s obviously more I need to do. Thanks for the thought - I’ll work on it!

If you possess Home Economics skills, perhaps teaching our young families how to grow, harvest and preserve food, realistic budgeting plans, household maintenance, etc.
Teaching these skills to our young folks is vitally important. Especially today.
Offer to provide training in their homes and maybe a weekly frozen meal plan and prep training.
Too many can't even feed themselves. They're at risk.
I think that could be a great market/UA-cam channel topic to pursue!

These kids are too busy with tiktik addictions and they need to be hand-fed and hand-held, because now they can't do anything on their own.
