Hi had a quick question i did all the mods you just did i ordered my shell from Retrosix i got new membranes and new buttons I noticed when i put game gear back together that the d pad was all mushy and loose did you have any issues with your D pad do you no of a fix? Great video keep up the good work
yeah. i had the same issue with those membranes - i used the old ones so that it would feel better. If youre using new black buttons its no biggy, but if youre using different colored buttons there isnt much you can do except make sure the shells are TIGHT together. The original Dpad feels much better to play on than the r6 one imo.
I saw on the video when Retro-AF open the new shell and I saw this potentiometer, does that come with RetroSix shell? If it does what kind of potentiometer is that? 2:27
@@stncldrwg Maybe you have a warped bracket? Mine aligned perfectly. I know 3d printed parts melt in the heat if they are PET plastic. >m sure bennvenn will take care of you if that is the problem.
Put a probe on a "true ground" point like i show in the video to measure the ground pad. It should read under .1v but mine was 2v so i had to reflow the ground pad. Measure the brightness pad the same way if that didnt resolve it. There is a helpful discord if neither of those worked for you.
@@retro-af mine stays stuck at full brightness. When I check the brightness pad, I only get .04v to .05v. I adjust the brightness wheel, but no change. Any ideas?
@@johnc.9133 try a more deliberate solder connection to the driver board's pads if the test points are good. Those gold pads on the bennvenn display seem to oxidize easily so lightly scratching them below the ribbon can help

Man, i was interested, but your voice is unbearable.
I agree!
Thanks for the feedback!
That's how different tastes can be. I think the voice is great.
I think it’s fine. It sounds professional.
@@8bitnation419 thanks for the feedback and taking time out of your day to do so!
I have better things to do than critique your voice. Sorry.
Loving the knife tip action
thanks! it helps with all sorts of situations!
Nice work!!! COngrats!
Can you share some reference about the Battery model you used? Are the batteries recharged by the Power Board? Tks

how long did it take to level the GG screen? i cant seem to get mine level enough to complete the project
not sure what you mean by "leveling" the game gear screen. Would you like to show me in discord?
I think leveling the screen so it is straight and not a bit slanted or diagonal. I am running into the same problem.

How did you get the brightness wheel to work?

@Retro-AF what is the temperature of your iron
400-450 usually. hope that helps!
I liked the hooker & the subscriber joke, made me laugh. :P
Hard to make how-tos about installing game gear screens entertaining.
Thanks for the feedback!
The ribbon cabe don't stand time test expose to UV is cracking
hmmm. this is the first i heard of this issue. how many hours have you run your game gear?
@Retro-AF Not much use was exposed in sunlight in a cabinet ,3 years old mod and the càble cracked. Some white lines on the screen a dead game gear
@@iulianispas8634 ill get a cable and expose it to light for a few weeks to see if it does what you say then.
could make for a good video!
How much for one w the new screen?
I'll be giving one away for free after the next video drops. (more info later!)
Great video, but your voice is a tad loud.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll adjust it moving forward!
@@retro-af Could just be your mic settings. A great video regardless. I shall be having a binge watching session of all of your repairs.
