A Brilliantly Simple Technique for Drawing A Face in Proportion for Absolute Beginners: PART 1

- Drawing faces is easy with these simple tips for absolute beginners. All you need is 3 pieces of card and a pencil, oh , and some paper. This is the first of a series of art tutorials on How to Draw a Face. The tutorial is aimed at absolute beginners to drawing faces. This easy drawing tutorial begins with me showing how to simply measure parts of the face, like the width of an eye and length of a nose. These measurements are in direct proportion to other elements of the face. I explain visually that the eyes are halfway between the top of the head and the chin, that ears are level with the nose etc.
Using a very simple I explain how to draw the face in proportion when looking at the face from the front, side, top and bottom. This video is not about how to draw eyes or noses etc, but where to place them accurately on the face. This art tutorial is aimed at beginners and those wanting to improve their drawing of faces.

That's the idea, drawing is a skill you can learn, just like driving a car. The problem is that only takes you so far, you need a little of the X Factor too (talent) if you are to become a Picasso or a Lewis Hamilton

@@PaulPriestleyart English is not my first language, so I think I sounded a little harsh. The old tutorials were good, i learned a lot with them. But now they are VERY GOOD. I hope your channel grows a lot, for me it is the best for the real, layman begginner, like me. I use your drawings to teach my 5 years old son to draw because of that simplicity in the explanation. Hello, that was a really helpful video. I understand the relation between the different "ratio" a lot better. Thank you very much. When practicing it helped a lot for the face looking straight. But I had troubles for the rest of the faces. I didn't know how much the line should curve and how big or closer together the different parts should be from one another. So my proportions are all off. Do you have tips for those proportions or is it a "practice will help you with that" case scenario ?
It really is a case of looking very carefully at a real face in those positions. Sketch what you see. Cheers Paul
