How to Draw a Face: PART 2 Basic Proportions
Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 чер 2024
- Learn to draw a face for beginners, nice and simple. How to draw the basic proportions of a face is very important. In this easy face drawing tutorial I explain how to draw the proportions of the face correctly using little cards cut to the width of the eye, length of the nose and the top of the nose to the chin. These proportions of the face will ensure that the eyes, nose, ears and mouth are in the right positions. The video explains that eyes are half way down the head. This very important because many people draw a face with the eyes near the top of the head. It is vital to make sure the top of the head is large enough to accommodate the brain, otherwise the drawing of the face will look unbalanced.
This simple sketch of the face also covers how to make the eyes look alive by leaving a white spot on the pupils. This art tutorial also covers the basic shading of the face as well.
This video is suitable for absolute beginners to drawing.

I watch this in school and I used to be the worst at drawing faces but now I can draw real people ✍
That's brilliant, well done.
Your videos helped me a lot! I used to draw heads as circles with various features filled in, but now I think I'm beginning to learn the more realistic way!
That's great, once you understand the basics your drawing will improve greatly. Well done. Cheers Paul

@@PaulPriestleyart no problem I’m literally just starting to sketch but people obviously isn’t where a beginner should start so I’m just doing shapes and understanding how shading works. Is there any tips you might be able to give me like for example I’m trying to do a sphere with a shadow?
Simply beautiful! Thank you very much.
You are very welcome
looking forward to that video about drawing the hair :)
That may be a little while, I'm afraid.
You probably won't see this Paul, but this is the best video on proportions!

That's great to know, cheers
That is strait forward and very understandable. I am not no arrest but I had drawn a couple of faces. But of course they were pretty good for first time draws, but so off mark. But the are very interesting to look at.
Really pleased you had a go and your drawings looked good. Cheers Paul
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Im hooked on you videos
Cheers
amazing vid btw :)
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers
Thank youuu!
You're welcome!
How do we get the three paper "guides" you use. Is there a template we can download? I really enjoy your videos and I have learned many
important tips from you. I have had a few courses in drawing and I don't think, I learned as much. Thank you for helping us.
The paper guides I made myself. If you measure the width of your eye, it is half the length of the nose. The nose is half the distance from the centre of the eyes to the chin. There is a proportion here which you can make for yourself. I hope that helps. Really pleased you enjoy my videos. Cheers Paul
@@PaulPriestleyart Thank you for letting me know.
Thank you
You're welcome
Awesome
Cheers
how do you always manage to be so enthusiastic?
Just got to keep smiling, life is too short.
Can you teach how to draw a face but more realistic? This vid will help me how to draw an actual face now . XD
If uou are looking at architecture as a college course this video might be more useful ua-cam.com/video/p3NPC8w6_g8/v-deo.html Cheers
Ye this was awesome
Cheers
Thanks
You are welcome
Nice .I liked it
That's great
This is very helpful
Cheers
Sir can you plz make me understand the exact proportion of eyes i face difficulty in measuring eye difference
You have to do that yourself. The width of one eye equals the gap between the eyes - approximately.
Thank you sir, but I have one issue which is I don’t have the cards!!! What do you suggest?
You need to make your own. That's what I did. Cheers
I really like you using the templets. How can I make them for myself
If you notice 2 is twice the size of 1 and 3 is twice the size of 2. The measurements come from your own face.
you good man
Cheers
Very nice and simple... But how to make that measurement cards... Can I make that at home..
I made these 2 cards.. one and two.... Bt Don't understand about the 3rd one.. plz help...
The measurements are from your own face, you'll find the cards are in proportion to each other. The size of the nose is twice that of the eye and the measurement from the centre of the eyes to the chin is twice the nose. There are slight variations in every face.
Thank you sir...🙏😊
How did you make the cards from
I measured my own face and used the measurements to make the cards. You'll notice the measurements show how elements of the face are in proportion to each other.
How i would measure the width of eye when i have no such paper
Use your fingers.
Thanx alot🤍
Cheers
Sir its very difficult for me to measure the difference lenght and width of the eye because i have no paper for measure
Use your fingers. Use a piece of string. Use your imagination.
@@PaulPriestleyart sir how i can be able to draw my face or someone face realistically in essence perfect potrait how can i be able to do so
How we will make a basic card..Fir face drawing..
The gaps are in proportion to each other as explained in the video. So cut the first gap for the first card, next is twice the size and so on. Cheers Paul
i don't know how to repay you man.thnx
Just keep drawing
money
Plzz make part3
It's on the list
Sir, can we use this method to draw a real face of any person ??
This is how you draw a 'real' face
@@PaulPriestleyart ok sir
How do o make thise cards
Each one is twice the size of the other. Measure your own face.
Pls add Turkish subtitles ❤
That will take a lot of time, I'm afraid
Sir please give the length of the cards.
If you watch the video carefully you'll notice that the largest of the cards - as seen in the thumbnail is equal to the distance from the top of my nose to my chin. This is half the distance from the top of my head to my chin. If you want to create similar cards measure your own face and make a card like mine. The other card is exactly half the size. All our heads/faces are of the same proportions. Hope that helps.
@@PaulPriestleyart thank sir
My teacher says your her inspiration
Wow, it's great to know my videos are useful. I feel quite humbled. Cheers
just wiped out tomato town
Good job you didn't fall in the custard just round the corner from the Rhubarb tree.
I don't think you get the fortnite joke there Paul
What the heck is that even meant to mean? I can't keep up with a thing you're doing! I can draw a better face without your silly video!
An expert like you should need to watch my video.
