    Hi, I just saw this video title, but I will check it out later. Can you use the golden ratio to draw symmetrically, I meant can you make a video using the golden ratio to draw? Thanks

    • @ArtHistorySchool
      @ArtHistorySchool 6 років тому

      Flair4Crafts The golden ratio is a system the ancient Greeks invented for getting proportions to look harmonious. It is not a system to help draw elements of a drawing, but more to get all the elements of a drawing or painting to work together. I do have a video on composition which uses some of the ideas of the golden section ua-cam.com/video/UqFYUdhOt9o/v-deo.html Cheers Paul

      Artists use lots of different methods, but if working from life they usually use some type of measuring system similar to that in the video.

      Middle is around eye level. Eye-level is half way between the top and bottom of the face. All faces are slightly different.

    Doesn't the top of the hair line to right below the brow bone/right above the eyes equal the same length/height as
    the nose???
    I'm sorry I just want make sure I have it correct because I've always drew the proportions that way. I sorry to go back on asking another about it.

    • @PaulPriestleyart
      @PaulPriestleyart  5 років тому +1

      It can equal the height of the nose, but the problem is the position of the hair line can vary from person to person, particularly with men. So it is not a reliable guide to use. Paul

    • @PaulPriestleyart

      Don't worry about paper size. Whatever paper you are using you start with the horizontal line half way down the paper, sketch the first eye and measure everything from there as explained in the video. The face will then fit the paper. Cheers Paul
