I didn't realize the full implications of the video until recently. This was a subtle message about being aware of how our decisions affect the people in our life who care for us the most. Our decisions have further reaching repercussions than just on ourselves and I think that's why Denny wrote the song and he illustrates the point brilliantly - Matt
My best friend and I used to joke about it when we were younger. We were like "oh, Dave just got his friends killed because he was on that bridge". Now, as I am an adult, I understand this. Whenever I feel down or one of my constant breakdowns arrive, I try to remember this: my friends and my family are not guilty of my own failures. So, I don't want to bother them with my nagging.
Reminds me of when I was still a high school girl obsessing over Davey Havok and this video watching it over and over again. Fast forward to the future, who could have thought that I'd be walking on that frigging bridge and been staying in the country from this video for six years now? Nobody could. Thank you so much AFI for being a part of my confusing teen life.
David Nelson I'm 16 and really love them. I knew one song by them (Miss Murder) and I was told that was their only good song and I never checked out anything else by them. I now love over 8 songs by them.
I've seen some speculations about the meaning of this video, and after watching it for the first time in years I've noticed a subtle symbolism. It shows the effects of suicide, in a way. Davey's friends are killed trying to save him, which could be considered an allegory of how the family and friends of suicidal people get caught up in the pain of it all (if their loved one follows through with a suicide attempt, they don't remain unscathed mentally, emotionally, and sometimes even physically.) The fact that Davey appears oblivious to the crash can signify how suicidal individuals often don't realize the impact they have on people and don't realize how their self-loathing can cause their loved ones anguish, and they don't realize how many people truly care for them.
Eoleum Mystery yes but suicidal people don’t do it for attention or they don’t mean to cause pain to their loved ones and even if people care for the suicidal person it doesn’t make a difference
@@cozza3783 That's what I just said; suicidal people often don't realize the full extent of what they're really doing because they're so caught up in their own pain.
For if it's all the rest of us who are killed by the suicide, it's himself whom the murderer kills; only he has to do is over, and over, and over. -Ursula K. Le Guin, The Word for World is Forest

lost a friend due to depression, we listened to this song everyday. she took her life in a similar manner. this song will forever have place in my heart.....
This song was one of my best friend, Shane's all time faves. He got me into AFI, and countless other amazing bands, he was a talented drummer who had played in bands, and he was hands down one of the most special people that I have ever known and loved!! These songs hold precious memories of the good days of running around blasting cd's...just living without a care int he world. Shane passed away on June 26th, 6 years ago. Miss you, BFF, I know you're listening to your favorite bands in the afterlife♡♡
I love AFI. This is my favorite song and I always come back to it when I think of this band. Davie Havok is so under rated as a lead vocalist. This band should get more credit for being one of the most theatrical punk/hard-core bands.
I'll be 52 in a week and this brings back memories of when my daughters were teens. They introduced me to some amazing music. Still love this song and Love like Winter 🖤
My six year old is obsessed with AFI. ( Thanks to me) but literally he sings in the shower " golden lobsters" instead of". cold In life throes...*😭😂 so now I can't unhear it and love this record so much more .🖤
This song reminds me of what a person can feel when suicidal or what a person feels when going through severe emotional abuse. It can be relatable on both parts. If anyone is going through either, please stay strong. It may be hard to see but you are absolutely amazing. You have purpose in this world & if you hang on, climb out of the black hole you are in, it will be brighter.
Used to take my son and daughter to their after school clubs with this CD playing loudly in the car. Had some really strange looks from the other parents as the three of us were singing along... Even had some of my children's friends come along and join in. 23 years ago, and the songs are still being played loudly in my car !
This song always helps me with suicidal thoughts. The video captures greatly how the loved ones are affected by suicide, makes me think how my mom and dad and other close ones hearts would be broken forever if I did that. Thank you AFI for amazing music with great messages 🖤
I know what you mean the amount of scars I have from my wrist and upto my arm pit from each time the dark thoughts get in my head I find myself pushing the blade a little deeper i wear long sleeve shirts to hide the scars they freak people out I can't bear to look at them and yet do this to myself remembering a promise I made that makes me stop. Some days are worse than others and some nights get real bad and I just want out by pills or the blade I'm so sick of the world you keep losing everyone around you and all the needless hate you can't even speak your mind without some individual getting offended and all you want is just to be left in peace but that seems to be a impossible thing ask these days I have my bad points but one of my good points is keeping my word but that's all anyone can do I suppose I'm not cold person even though a want to be it's just I care for family and friends so very much it's killing me when I lose them but that is the world and that's why I want out I have become very good at laughing while I'm breaking down crying inside I'm getting so tired of putting on that fake ass laugh but unless a drug is made to stop people from dying I will continue this way my apologies for the long winded commitment but music does help for me it's a distraction at best and remembering the promise I made and keep fighting back the dark thoughts I hope in the most high you do better then me if it helps make a promise and do your best to keep it. P.s another good group are the rasmus I saw them live they were brilliant

Anthony Sanchez yup. Much Music. When the US got a bunch of new channels in 03 we got Mich which became Fuse, G4, Tech TV. Basically the final minutes before social Media and smart phones took over the universe.
A new emotion brought to our ears that will never die. AFI is one of the lengendaries. Remember cruising down the streets on a hot summer day with the homies blasting this in the car stereo having all kinds of fun. This band is memory.
***** alot of that is because its always a surprise with the first album or 2. then fans start to have expectations on how the band should sound, so if it strays from that people will perceive it as getting worse
My brain likes to forget how this music video ends, so every few years on a really heavy day I come back to it. Thanks, AFI. You guys made a huge impact on me, and still do sometimes.

Lol, I also listen to them during my high school years
Your sins into me
Where is it about?
+Eiz A Where is this place? It's so beautiful!

I'm 54 and I really injoy AFI music. Great songs awesome vocals and music. Got to see them at the Gibson Amp a few years ago.
David Nelson 47 here, and I still love AFI.
They are Awesome.
David Nelson rite on Bruh. I'm 36 and still rocking out
David Nelson
I'm 16 and really love them. I knew one song by them (Miss Murder) and I was told that was their only good song and I never checked out anything else by them. I now love over 8 songs by them.
David Nelson enjoy* (sorry)
Props to Adam for driving like a complete savage
Eoleum Mystery yeah absolutely
Extremely well interpreted and descibed. I agree 100%.
For if it's all the rest of us who are killed by the suicide, it's himself whom the murderer kills; only he has to do is over, and over, and over.
-Ursula K. Le Guin, The Word for World is Forest
I swear this song never gets old.
chxvx Never!
Agreed.
absolutely
Silver and Cold is one of the best songs from AFI's entire catalog ☠🎃
This is the most first "GTA in real life" video
I had no idea that this was filmed in Prague! How beautiful!
One of my best friends died last week. We used to listen this song all day. I really miss those days, I really miss him...
LuisMa, I will always remember you with this great song. Thank you for everything Brother :')
Yisus SA me too

Fabian Escanero Moreno thank you 🙏🏼
Rest in peace to your friend. May the best memories carry you.
@@dudeshamus1451 thank you friend!

Im 41 and this song is my favorite from AFI ❤ I was so EMO in highschool this band helped me to be myself no matter what people thought of me
who else is here cause they miss their teenage years?
here! Waaaa!
Shandre Calderone right here
could not have said it any better
I was 17 when this song came out. So many memories

Me for sure
Im just jammin period
Who?
Jesus, I was a junior in hs when this album came out. Getting old sucks lol, miss those days
2021..
Xoxo
I love AFI. This is my favorite song and I always come back to it when I think of this band. Davie Havok is so under rated as a lead vocalist. This band should get more credit for being one of the most theatrical punk/hard-core bands.
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf “ or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🐺🤘🔥🤘🐺
@@beezybeez4207 I will check out. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@ashesdivide731 🤘🎶🙏
I am 37 yrs old listening to this.
I just learned of AFI 6 yrs ago.
I could look at Dave’s face all day he’s so handsome. I love his long hair.
This song deserves 100M views 😪
Such a great and yet underated band....
This is poetry, real art.
Almost in my 40's and still loving AFI. It's NOT a phase mom!
true.
2003: I was a junior in high school and this album changed my life.
Same. I was 13 when this album came out.
I was in my early 30's and going through a divorce when I really got into AFI. I've loved all their music. I'm now 47. We all get older.
Man, I was just a kid back then.
2019or some other songs
Growing old is no fun unfortunately 😕
I'll be 52 in a week and this brings back memories of when my daughters were teens. They introduced me to some amazing music. Still love this song and Love like Winter 🖤
Best mom
I remember being 17 in my Camaro and Blasting the song all day, now I'm 36 years old and I truly truly miss those days💯🤙🙌😔
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf “ or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🐺🤘🎶🤘🐺
@@beezybeez4207 I'll check it out for sure!🤙
this band saved me
How?
how?
you saved yourself. well done.
My six year old is obsessed with AFI. ( Thanks to me) but literally he sings in the shower " golden lobsters" instead of". cold In life throes...*😭😂 so now I can't unhear it and love this record so much more .🖤
ahahaha LOL golden lobsters 🔥
I could listen to this and a few P.O.D. songs All day long! To All my "Beautiful Ones!"
I’m 37 and remember going to Best Buy to pick up this cd when it was released.
Limewire for me lol...
this dude has the perfect gothic esthetic
I'm 41 and I still love AFI
This band Is timeless I love AFI loved Davey' s long hair!!!!!!
I was 3 when this came out?! Thank you mom for introducing me to AFI
God I love this song. Had no idea there was even a video till today.
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf “ or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🐺🤘🎶🤘🐺
That piano and quick drum breakdown at the start never fails to give me chills.
I don't know exactly why, but this is one of my all time favorite songs. There is just something about it that gets to me.
Same goes for me I love this song
So, like, do you think all the band members are vampires who have lived for hundreds of years, or is it just Davey?
This song reminds me of what a person can feel when suicidal or what a person feels when going through severe emotional abuse. It can be relatable on both parts. If anyone is going through either, please stay strong. It may be hard to see but you are absolutely amazing. You have purpose in this world & if you hang on, climb out of the black hole you are in, it will be brighter.
His hair is fabulous. I wish it was still either like this, or like in 2006
I love revisiting this era of AFI, it's such a specific feeling of nostalgia. ❤️
4 month since your comment, but I hope you’re alright!
@@cardinalcopia501 im doing much better now, thank you 😊 hope you're well too!
@Ike great thing to know, stay well ,no matter what, I’m also okay! Thanks for asking. 🤘

I know what you mean the amount of scars I have from my wrist and upto my arm pit from each time the dark thoughts get in my head I find myself pushing the blade a little deeper i wear long sleeve shirts to hide the scars they freak people out I can't bear to look at them and yet do this to myself
remembering a promise I made that makes me stop.
Some days are worse than others and some nights get real bad and I just want out by pills or the blade I'm so sick of the world you keep losing everyone around you and all the needless hate you can't even speak your mind without some individual getting offended and all you want is just to be left in peace but that seems to be a impossible thing ask these days I have my bad points but one of my good points is keeping my word but that's all anyone can do I suppose I'm not cold person even though a want to be it's just I care for family and friends so very much it's killing me when I lose them but that is the world and that's why I want out I have become very good at laughing while I'm breaking down crying inside I'm getting so tired of putting on that fake ass laugh but unless a drug is made to stop people from dying I will continue this way my apologies for the long winded commitment but music does help for me it's a distraction at best and remembering the promise I made and keep fighting back the dark thoughts
I hope in the most high you do better then me if it helps make a promise and do your best to keep it.
P.s another good group are the rasmus I saw them live they were brilliant

I am 30 years old. In Poland, I listen to this in my teenage years. I'm sorry that icons like AFI, Three Days Grace, Espace the Fate, A7X etc., etc. don't come to Poland so often. This is the music of my youth.
Your comment really hit home. 30 as well. Haven't heard this song in years
Dzien dobry
Same here.. 33 and still love this song and the same bands u mentioned are all still in for mee❤❤. my sister is a huge fan of A7x.

AFI DAYS - GOOD DAYS
And Yet I'M 48-49yrs Old 08-31 But Still TIMELESS THINK ABOUT IT #Savey 🤔🤗😚😘💋💯👍😎
THIS VIDEO STILL MAKES ME AN EMOTIONAL WRECK OVER TEN YEARS LATER
A new emotion brought to our ears that will never die. AFI is one of the lengendaries. Remember cruising down the streets on a hot summer day with the homies blasting this in the car stereo having all kinds of fun. This band is memory.
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf “ or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🐺🤘🎶🤘🐺
Sounds just as good as it did when first released 18 years ago… AFI IS TIMELESS
Damn I love this album.. This song is amazing.. Why can't they write like this today
Are you kidding? Davey's songwriting has gotten only better and better. Unless yu're talking about why other bands don't write like this.
***** alot of that is because its always a surprise with the first album or 2. then fans start to have expectations on how the band should sound, so if it strays from that people will perceive it as getting worse
And a few friends of mine believe that everything went bad starting with STS. Different tastes, hun. Their writing never changed for me.
Idk. I agree somewhat, but I'm actually a huge fan of 17 Crimes.
My brain likes to forget how this music video ends, so every few years on a really heavy day I come back to it. Thanks, AFI. You guys made a huge impact on me, and still do sometimes.
takes me back to 2003 when I would get ready for college listening to this song
I went back and listened to Finch and the Used... only AFI holds up.
Weird eh? I liked both the used and finch more at the time, but you're right...they held up far better. Didn't expect that.
I imagine Jade tells the other guys when he gets off the phone, "Shit, guys-- we've gotta go. Davey's sad again."
That said, I love AFI.
take me back to when corona was just a drink
Don't overexagerate

God this song always takes me back to freshman year in '03. Still great.
60 yo Punk here...seen AFI at several early Vans Warp tours - before it got pop'd out
Still the greatest music video ever in 2023
im 31 years old and this song still helping me with my thoughs, thanks AFI , thank you for all
I came to sing along with my gf to this song and I ended up crying and reminiscing of the 6 years I lived in Prague. Life is amazing!
