The guitar intro is an inexplicable event, WOW Thank you!!!. When the appropriately and exactly combined notes make a score that is worth the satisfaction of more than one, especially me, what a hymn.
The most beautiful thing about AFI for me and why they're my favorite band from this era is that their lyrics are always abstract. It's as if they're releasing an emotional moment through song and lyric without actually telling you how to feel, each song is like looking at a painting.
This album is legendary. I saw them on the tour for this album, as well as the December Underground tour. Sing the Sorrow was their pinnacle (imo) but they have many great songs from other albums as well.
I was a Kid when this came out and I loved this song, this vid was my introduction with the Straight Edge and Hardcore, even AFI wasn't a Hardcore Band I started to listen more and more Hardcore and now I'm on my 30's and I still Listen Hardcore, Hardcore 'till death
I discovered AFI when I was in high school and it changed my whole outlook on music. I was really into classic rock, but when I heard this in was blown away by the vocals and the instruments!
A Fire Inside will forever be one of the best bands ever in my book. They've made some amazing music, but this has always been my favorite through the years. AFI forever.
I will never forget the day i saw this video air on TV and it resonated with me entirely. It portrayed everything i felt at the time. I got to see AFI at aftershock and i just stood there in awe. Finally having a chance to see the band that meant so much to me as a kid.
This song is a very important part of the album that saved my life. I don't even know why I randomly felt like listening to AFI tonight but I'm glad I did. Way back when this album dropped I was super depressed and was seriously considering suicide and then by a chance encounter I happened to be hanging out at a friend's place and here neighbor came over with this new AFI album. We probably listened to if 15 times that night from beginning to end. For whatever reason Davey's lyrics really spoke to me. I felt them in my soul. It's like for the first time I could see beauty in tragedy and I decided to embrace it. I'll always have depression. That's how depression works. But thanks to Davey and the rest of AFI, I know I can deal with it and I'll always love them for giving me a new perspective on life.
Beauty in tragedy indeed! You are a living, breathing example and so am I. Depression is a lifetime illness. I a shame more people understood that. God bless you.
As a young mexican kid from the barrio and heavy into mexican music, I'll never forget playing madden one day and this song came on, i could not explain the feelings and emotions that over came me, it opened more doors to music i wouldn't have listened to, fast forward 2019, and here i am.
It’s crazy punk never changed but this song could make anyone see how far we’ve gone to be what we are. We’ve all broken down and it’s really this hardcore.
This entire album is occult 33rd degree hidden codes I love the genius of whomever wrote these lyrics it’s actually the the absolute most beautiful song I’ve ever heard when you actually understand what he’s discussing. It’s magnificent description.
Davey is awesome he's great at showing his feminine side through every song but yet he can bring his full masculinity out when needed to acheive the amazingly deep and loud scream just like u seen at the end of this video and i have never seen anybody be able to be very feminine but yet bring out their somewhat darker and much more masculine side in their music like davey and thats wut makes him so amazing 👍👍👍👍👍
@@thebootknifer album was released 2003. But I had dialup through high school. 2002-2006 kids today will never know the struggle of dialup. And the random calls that would kick you off the internet. Or the random time parents want to call someone so you would have to wait till they were done.
It's very amazing how Davey has a very feminine voice all the time but yet when he releases all of his emotions at the end of the song at onetime it unlocks the true deepness of his voice when he lets out his final scream at the end of the song
@@onemanarmysswampparty Having a feminine voice has nothing to do with range but with timbre and his timbre is indeed quite feminine, which makes him more unique. His range is actually nothing special, he's not even a tenor.

Im a spanish girl but this song literally became my anthem in High school. I love how deep the lyrics are and just how it moves my emotions.. Rock is definetly not for the faint of heart....Still
Oh man the nostalgia and memories
Don't waste your touch, you won't feel anything
Or were you sent to save me?
I've thought too much, you won't find anything...
Worthy of redeeming
Yo he estado aqui muchas veces antes y regreso
To... break down, and cease all feeling
Burn now, what once was breathing
Reach out, and you may take my heart away
Imperfect cry, and scream in ecstasy
So what befalls the flawless?
Look what I've built, it shines so beautifully
Now watch as it destroys me
Y regreso aqui otra vez y comienzo
To... break down, and cease all feeling
Burn now, what once was breathing
Reach out, and you may take my heart away
Break down, and cease all feeling
Burn now, what once was breathing
Reach out, and you may take my heart away
I left it all behind, and never said goodbye
I left it all behind, and never said goodbye
I left it all behind, and never said goodbye
I left it all to die
I saw its birth, I watched it grow
I felt it change me
I took the life, I ate it slow
Now it consumes me
I... break down, and cease all feeling
Burn now, what once was breathing
Reach out, and you may take my heart away
Break down, and cease all feeling
Burn now, what once was breathing
Reach out, and you may take my heart away
... Heart away
As a Hip Hop fan that doesn't listen to the radio at all, I want to thank Madden for introducing me to this song over 20 years ago.
I'm still impressed by the range of motion in a tux.
I HAVE BEEN TO OVER 200 CONCERTS AND AFI IS IN MY TOP 3 OF ALL BEST LIVE SHOWS... JUST AMAZING
His hair was fucking beautiful. God.
Right? I have such hair envy when musicians have hella better hair than me. It's so beautifully luscious.
His Voice
I know, right?!?
He was beautiful in general!
Shalee Michelle why am I attracted to Davy Havoc in 2019? 🤣
Such an amazing song definitely one of my favorite AFI songs ..You gentlemen look 🔥 thank you so much for all the great music .. I’ll always be a fan .🖤🤘🏻🫶🏻
God this entire album is 🔥, recently popped it in again....just instant flashback to my high school days
Some of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.
The guitar intro is an inexplicable event, WOW Thank you!!!.
When the appropriately and exactly combined notes make a score that is worth the satisfaction of more than one, especially me, what a hymn.
Will never forget that “Shut Your Mouth And Open Your Eyes” was an eye opening experience from a metal head. Loved any and all Punk since
This whole album 👌👌👌
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🐺🔥
The most beautiful thing about AFI for me and why they're my favorite band from this era is that their lyrics are always abstract. It's as if they're releasing an emotional moment through song and lyric without actually telling you how to feel, each song is like looking at a painting.
I remember hearing that the mosh scenes were recorded while they played Throwdown or something over the speakers.
Hatebreed
I remember watching this on TV when it came out and playing it over and over again!!
One of the top songs of my teenage existence..
This album is legendary. I saw them on the tour for this album, as well as the December Underground tour. Sing the Sorrow was their pinnacle (imo) but they have many great songs from other albums as well.
Hands down my favorite song from this era of AFI
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🐺🎧
Remember when I was younger bunch of my hommies were flown to Cali to be in this video dancing in pit. Philly proud !!!
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🐺🔥
I was a Kid when this came out and I loved this song, this vid was my introduction with the Straight Edge and Hardcore, even AFI wasn't a Hardcore Band I started to listen more and more Hardcore and now I'm on my 30's and I still Listen Hardcore, Hardcore 'till death
True till Death ... sXe
I'd have killed to be in that pit tbh 🤣
I discovered AFI when I was in high school and it changed my whole outlook on music. I was really into classic rock, but when I heard this in was blown away by the vocals and the instruments!
Are you me? Lol this whole album was my therapy in high school. It got me through some stuff man.
I don't think I'll ever get over Davey's hair in this video.
Saw an AFI poster in a TV show, brought this song to mind. Sweeeet nostalgia!
A Fire Inside will forever be one of the best bands ever in my book. They've made some amazing music, but this has always been my favorite through the years. AFI forever.
Man, I remember growing up to this music when I was 10, 8 years later, I'm so glad I stuck with it and found the hardcore and straight edge scene
I remember watching fuse back in the day just to wait for Afi's Music videos.
I will never forget the day i saw this video air on TV and it resonated with me entirely. It portrayed everything i felt at the time. I got to see AFI at aftershock and i just stood there in awe. Finally having a chance to see the band that meant so much to me as a kid.
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🎸🔥
Remember it was around midnight on the fuse channel ❤
This shadowy piece invokes a truly unique blend of emotions.

Real talk
5 year old who wants attention 💀
Beauty in tragedy indeed! You are a living, breathing example and so am I. Depression is a lifetime illness. I a shame more people understood that. God bless you.
oh wow. i liked this comment 4 years ago and today 2023 july i did the same thing
love to you human that exists!
@@sammadledesma5929you arent a part of the group ovi 😮 🫣
Biggest nostalgia hit, I listened to this song on 91X radio 20s years ago so long ago
Wow here goes a great part of my life. Nostalgia is hitting.
As a young mexican kid from the barrio and heavy into mexican music, I'll never forget playing madden one day and this song came on, i could not explain the feelings and emotions that over came me, it opened more doors to music i wouldn't have listened to, fast forward 2019, and here i am.
nice you copied someones comment
@@tylerjensen727 lmfao if you don't know you wouldn't understand. Thanks for doing your DD
Ur comment is the exact same as another persons. But he was a young black kid from the hood. I dont know whose is original.
@@silva0186 only one original
@@silva0186 it was a joke.
This was the AFI song that really got my attention the whole album was bad ass
I will always love this song! This and the hidden track is my favorite. ❤
It’s crazy punk never changed but this song could make anyone see how far we’ve gone to be what we are. We’ve all broken down and it’s really this hardcore.
Definitely AFI's best song ever
Ever!!!!
By far
I like “Beautiful Thieves” the best. That’s just me though
I prefer third season, but this is my second favorite
Aurellia.....!
AFI will forever have my heart. Ugh. 💖 even my kids love AFI.
This entire album is occult 33rd degree hidden codes I love the genius of whomever wrote these lyrics it’s actually the the absolute most beautiful song I’ve ever heard when you actually understand what he’s discussing. It’s magnificent description.
This music video is right up there with Girls Not Grey as one of my favs of all time! AFI will always have my heart 💜 🎶
Mike Patton when he was young
Anthony Green
Um, Prince...?
You hit the nail squarely on the head, this is exactly what was on my mind, when I first listened to this song.🙂
I can still remember listening to this song while waiting for my dial up to connect so i could chat on aim and posting on xanga. Oh the memories
DRugfree1987 lol dail up and xanga. Makes me feel old lmfao
Dial-up in 2006? Christ. Who hurt you?
the good o'l days of updating the Xanga profile :)
ewww
@@thebootknifer album was released 2003. But I had dialup through high school. 2002-2006 kids today will never know the struggle of dialup. And the random calls that would kick you off the internet. Or the random time parents want to call someone so you would have to wait till they were done.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is 2000s rock
It's very amazing how Davey has a very feminine voice all the time but yet when he releases all of his emotions at the end of the song at onetime it unlocks the true deepness of his voice when he lets out his final scream at the end of the song
I wouldn't call it a feminine voice I'd say he just has a wide vocal range
@@onemanarmysswampparty Having a feminine voice has nothing to do with range but with timbre and his timbre is indeed quite feminine, which makes him more unique. His range is actually nothing special, he's not even a tenor.
2016 and I still love AFI
good times in middle school
One of the coolest videos ever. It's straight outta the Matrix or something.
It is silver and cold
July 23 2024
Still hits the spot
Middle school vibes all over again,
And I love it🤟🏽
I remember it like it was yesterday. Playing madden 2004 when I was in high school. This song has always stuck to me all these years. Such beautiful lyrics and that guitar is what gives it that legendary song status
People people people....only about 8.7 million views?!?!?!?! This is one of the greatest rock songs OF ALL TIME.
1. This is post hardcore/gothic and 2. Their next album was number 1 on the Billboard
Though I love Davey's new look... I really miss this look. Gah... this man with long hair and eyeliner... dreamboat.
"AFI's lead singer is a pretty hot chick." -everyone, 2007
ha ha ha ha!!
he looks so so much better with short hair
Amanda Lowe lol
EPöXY nah, the chick of Tokio Hotel was much prettier in 2007
AFI came over and over with a successful album. And dude, this... this was the peek of one era.
