      No lol. It has a mechanism in it that uses air pressure so you can let go of the door and it will quietly and slowly close. It ensures the door will swing back on its own but the mechanism has the side effect of not getting the momentum to actually latch shut. You have to close it the rest of the way. It's to minimize the sound of doors and prevent slamming.
      Edit you can hear the mechanism release the air in the video. That's what I'm talking about. It slowly vents pressure. If you've ever used a door with that mechanism then you know perfectly well you need to latch it and lock it yourself.

    • @Michael-zn2jc
      @Michael-zn2jc Рік тому +5

      @@shanetuma3845 no it’s not hollowed out to reduce weight. It’s one slab of like 3cm thick stone that has been analyzed by a computer and determined how to best match the veins and then cut the stone. After the pieces were glued together. A whole slab is possible but really expensive. This is a cheap solution. This is not expensive at all. Around $1,000 for cutting and installing.

    • @kendac5493
      @kendac5493 Рік тому +2

    • @invictusbp1prop143
      @invictusbp1prop143 Рік тому +1

      @@kendac5493 It's not the cheap way out. It's the way countertops are built. You would only source a slab that thick to put in a much more expensive, ridiculous over the top luxury mansion where they waste money on crap just to talk about how expensive it is. It's not even common to have material that thick. That's why they laminate the edges on stuff like that, to make it look thick but not actually be ridiculous. The plywood underneath is necessary to support the stone because stone, especially marble, isn't very well suited to be cantilevered like that without support. Not sure if that's natural or not, it kinda looks like not, but natural marble unsupported can break along the veins a lot easier than you'd expect. Granite and marble both can be quite brittle and it wouldn't be advisable to try to install that without a solid plywood under it.

    Fun fact: Many people think marble and other Stones are so fancy on facades, countertops and bathrooms... Fact is that materials should be used acording to their natural (physical and chemical) properties. Exposed to erosion on facades stone panels may fall off, exposed to kitchen ingredients stone may change colour, exposed to running Water under shower its gonna get covered in plaque. Japanese are masters in utilizing materials according to their natural properties, not forcing materials to be something they are not... Stone, Wood, glass, metal, terakota are different materials with various features. Lets use them according to their properties and take full advantage of them, without pretending they are something else.

    What? The counter top marble is mitered with the side pieces are attached and glued to make it look it is in one piece. And this is a cheaper marble. When you get the high quality Italian marble, it is silky and almost clear.
